Skinny's Smoke House in Medicine Hat

Ordered food. Waited an hour and asked what was taking so long and found out our waitress never put our order in.

Normally it’s 5 stars. But this evening not so much. Took over an hour to get my order for take out. Maybe it was an off night.

My husband and I came there for lunch, we ordered a poutine and the 3 by 3 to share. Everything arrived maybe 10 minutes after we ordered and it was cold, mushy, unflavored and unedible. We ate our poutine as it was mediocre at best but still cold and told the waitress to take the 3x3 off of our bill. What happened to this place? Standards definitely have gone down hill. Only one server/side at lunch time to seems pretty unreasonable. 1 star for a tasty ceaser my waitress made.

Meal was good, service was great, but most likely will not go back. It is a principle thing I believe in giving a tip when deserved not because it is on the bill and I have to. Servers missed out on extra money as I am sure we would have all tipped more than the mandated rate. Tips are for service. Should not be part of the bill. Shame on management.

We hired skinnys to cater our wedding this year. We were originally working with the previous management and had a very good experience with them.Unfortunately we were not aware that they changed management prior to our event and this lead to some hardships for us which affected our event and our guests experience (as well as our own.We reached out the week prior to the event and were still not told that the manager we were working with was no longer there. We didnt find out until the day of our event which was upsetting.Due to reported communication breakdown during their switch over, our event infomarion was incorrect on their end and this lead to them being over an hour later to deliver and serve supper to us and our guests. This lead to rearranging  the evening to accommodate their lateness.Guests also advised us that some of the food was cold and that they were told they had run out  of food when we actually had multiple large containers of left overs.The individuals who delivered and set up the meal were unable to rectify the situation at that time. However we did follow up with the restaurant the next day. We didnt hear back right away and our concerns  were not  received well at first. It wasnt until we provided them our own documentation and corrected them on  multiple details that they were open to compensating us. We received somewhat of a refund but due to the hassle of everything up to that point we didnt feel it was worth it to push any further.We strongly encourage customers to follow up and confirm every detail and to keep all of your receipts and emails to avoid a situation like we had as it caused a great deal of stress and it certainly disrupted our event. For future customers, these are important things to consider when looking into hiring them.

Very very impressed. We went for the 2x2 and the portion was huge! The food was hot and tastes very fresh. Service was also very good.

Loved the food and hospitality. The chicken sandwich was amazing. This was my first time in medicine hat and I am glad I came across this restaurant.

Wow! Absolutely delicious! I had chicken wings, pulled pork, house fries and potato salad. Ill be back. The Caesars are delicious also.

Ordered online from Skinny’s tonight. The menu stated we would get corn bread and pickles along with our meal. The meat arrives with half our meal missing. We call to inquire. They don’t know what is included in their meal packages. Then they call us back and tell us they won’t be delivering the food that was missing because they changed their menu yesterday and proceeded to hang up on us.So much for supporting local.

Good food, great prices and the staff are very friendly. Good choices of BBQ.

After waiting for an hour and half without receiving our food - we left. The reason we were told it was taking that long was because they had a table of 12. We were initially told about a delay and asked how long it would take. We were told 15 minutes.We arrived at 6:30pm and left at 8pm with nothing. Ordered drinks and asked for water as well. We received the drinks but no water. The restaurant itself wasnt all that busy, outside that table of 12.It was as if we were not a priority (well, thats obvious considering we never received our food after an hour and 30 minand the sole focus was on the table of 12. We were a table of 6.Honestly, not a welcoming experience at all and, although Im sure the food is decent, we were never updated on our order or asked if we were okay.Went across the street to Boston Pizza, who ironically also had a table of 12, and was served within 20 minutes.

Food was good, the beans were very good. Not a great atmosphere, other than 1 server, wait staff was cold and acted like I was an intruder to the party. There might have been 12, possibly 15 customers in at the time. Should have gone to the Keg across the street.

A must on the list of places to eat in Medicine Hat! Prepare to be greeted by the delectable smokehouse smell as soon as youre in the parking lot, this restaurant had us smiling from start to finish. Nachos and brisket and sausage, oh my! The Nachos were perfectly baked and the salsa was so good! The "caramelized burnt ends" blew us away, and the "three and three" was delightful. The star of it all was definitely the brisket. Highly recommend!

I have been an avid supporter of Skinnys since its inception on Third in Medicine Hat. I applauded their creative approach to menu enhancements throughout the last couple of years during COVID and frequently purchased both for myself and as gifts the take and bake options. I believed in supporting local and always enjoyed the meals. In the past, i made a point of taking out of town visitors here proudly for a meal. I am disappointed at this point to have reached out via email, phone call as well as social media to the restaurant as I understand there has been a recent change in management, one that seems unwilling to appreciate past loyalty. I remain then less than impressed...my loyalty has been worthless and when I asked staff how to provide feedback I was directed to Google Review...hmmm...I suppose you get what you ask for by times. I will choose to let my money do the talking and dine elsewhere.

This place smells like heaven, the receptionist was very polite and pleasant. Once I sat down, I was greeted by a blonde waitress who was so rude I couldn’t believe it. In the middle of my asking about the menu she walks away and when she comes back and asks me if I need more time. This was my first time there and I was looking forward to eating there. Once I seen her attitude with me, I told her I’m not eating here and that she is very rude. Unfortunately I missed out on a good meal. The manager should pick better people to work there.

The service was great, but I will say I was a bit dissapointed in the food. It wasnt bad it just wasnt what I was expecting for everything that I heard about it.

If youre looking for delicious BBQ and smoked yumminess, you best get yourself to Skinnys cuz Im tellin you, the food is awesome. My husband and I began our delicious adventure with deep-fried pickles. Can you say, "More, please?" Well, we would have ordered more, but we needed to save room for our entrees which lived up to the highexpectations set by the appetizer. To our delight, the mains and sides were scrumptious, too. We devoured brisket, riblets, and chicken wings (Alberta white), slaw, fries, and cucumber salad. Had we shown a lIttle bit of restraint, we might have had room to share a dessert, but the lack of restraint is not really our fault since the chef and the serving team (specifically Sharlamade and presented such a fantastic meal. So, to make a long story short, we highly recommend Skinnys and are looking forward to our next meal at this top-notch establishment.

Overall the food was tasty although personally I found the pulled pork a little dry. Also had takeout and tried a burnt end sandwhich for lunch the next day and again although the smoke was there it def wasnt fresh bbq. Maybe I just got spoiled from all the bbq I tried and experienced in Tulsa Ok area over the years while there for work.

Pricing was decent, staff was friendly and the food was good.. really enjoyed the cocktails as well

Had the ribs and pulled pork, both were excellent, lots of flavour. Deviled eggs very good as well, was unable to finish the meal, too much food with the 3 side dishes that come with the meal. Would definitely stop in again when back in town. As a side note they had local MHB Blood Orange on tap, excellent beer

I have Celiac Disease and they have lots of tasty gluten free options from what Ive seen. Very clean place, nice vibes.

Legit, top 5 burger experiences Ive ever had. It was a promotional burger for the battle of Alberta (obv I picked the Edmonton burger!)Big beef patty with pulled brisket and bbq sauce, I think?? LolThe portion of the fries was a little saddening, but they were amazing too!Tori, our server, was an absolute delight, and I felt terrible for not leaving a tip, because I didnt know if I was aloud to with the company card. I will make it up to you next time Im there if you serve us again, I promise!Anyway, 100% reccomend!

Great place to stop on your way through Medicine Hat, especially if youre going for a cheap fill up from Costco, its right along the way no matter which way youre coming from. My wife and I didnt have a huge appetite so we split some wings and the Burnt Ends sandwich (with waffle cut friesand it was a perfect amount for a quick sit down while travelling through so I didnt get too sleepy behind the wheel. Very delicious and a good helping of burnt ends on the sandwich, they were spilling over the sides and thats what ya want, tasty little morsels those burnt ends were. I forgot to take the picture of the sandwich before I dug in so excuse the presentation look. Will definitely make a return visit to try some of the other dishes.

The food is great, the prices are very reasonable. We left full and satisfied.Our servers were friendly, well organized and the food came in a timely manner.

Loved the Three & Three dish. Brisket, smoked chicken and sausage were great. My kids(3had the burger, chicken strips and Mac & cheese. My youngest didnt like the Mac & cheese. I am not a Mac & cheese fan so I cant confirm or deny if shes right. Friendly staff and prompt service. Will definitely go back for more.

Thank you for making me look like a superstar wife! My husband was away working away in Medicine Hat, on our anniversary. He is a bbq enthusiast and has logged a lot of hours smoking meats making many of the things on your menu, so he is a difficult critic. Hes hard to impress when it comes to BBQ. I ordered food to him to the hotel, and he called absolutely raving about how good it is. He was totally wowed about how great the food was, and that the wings were just like his, the brisket was perfect. Everything was delicious. 5 star for sure!Thanks for the awesome food, he loved it all! I loved getting all the thanks and appreciation for an amazing dinner. Thanks for writing "Happy Anniversary" on the take out boxes and coordinating delivery too. It is all much appreciated.Well be back if were ever through Medicine Hat again. :)

Really enjoyed this. Tried a bit if everything. Brisket was very tender, melt in your mouth. The riblings and ribs had wonderful flavour across the smoke, rub and sauce. Very unique, and still totally fit a BBQ taste. Even the chicken had a nice rub that works real well with the smoke. Im definitely going back.

Really good food and friendly staff both times I went. Overall, the BBQ is above average but not excellent. Have definitely had better. The brisket and pulled pork were a bit dry. The wings were good but a little small. Sausage was good, didnt try the smoked chicken.Definitely get the tater tot dish for a side. Add the corn bread and youve got a winning plate. Would come again for sure.

Today was my first time in Skinnys. I checked some reviews before go (including 1star commentsand for me it was a really nice experience. Our server was super kind and friendly also recommended me one of her favorites sides because everything looks yummy for me and I absolutely loved it. To be honest with the people who doesnt tried yet.. please have your own experience here and decide if you want to come back or not. (If you read the bad reviews as meI definitely come back.

So yummy and so friendly! The atmosphere was lovely. Very clean everywhere. The kids meals were fantastic and actually had enough food to satisfy my growing kids.Our meals were filling and delicious. I cant wait to go back and try more of the menu!

Went there August 9th, invited friends for dinner looking forward to some great BBQ. The service was friendly and courteous. We chose the 3 plus 3, the sides where excellent, not the meat! Thought wed go there for some succulent BBQ. What we got was pulled pork that was so dry and overcooked it almost hurt swallowing it, same story with the chicken wings, bone dry meat, cooked to tinder likely all day long, Id be ashamed to sell something like this. My wife wanted brisket, sold out, chose ribs instead, sorry sold out too. What BBQ place has no meat at dinner time?? We would have been happier with delicious A&W spicy chicken burgers and it would not have set us back $160.00!! People, check out all the 1star reviews , they have a thing in common, the food is severely overlooked. They have no idea what this is supposed to taste like. If you know good BBQ you will be disappointed.

Great fresh BBQ! I tried brisket, chicken and pulled pork and all were excellent.The fries were quite heavily spiced with the house spice. While I enjoyed it, my elementary aged son and nephew found the spicy fries too much for them. While this is probably a matter of their specific tastes, I’ve found that many kids tend to have a narrower palate, so less-spiced fries for the kids meals would be appreciated.This is a minor complaint though. This is a great restaurant overall, and a recommended stop if you’re passing through Medicine Hat.

Great smoke house in Medicine Hat! Friendly staff in a challenging time. Good vibe, great food! They also serve mainly local brews.

Passing through on our way to Regina. As a true Texan this was a decent barbecue joint. Brisket was tender (although not as good as Texas). Barbecue sauce was thick and bland, a disappointment, but brisket could hold its own. Loved the pickles and onions (refreshingand the sweet potatoe fries with chipotle mayo was the best I have ever tasted. Ceasar salad was really delicious too. Coleslaw was decent and a nice selection of beers on tap. I would love to see some better options for BBQ sauce and real ice tea. Service was outstanding and I would come again.

Just had the buffet, it was delicious!!!! The brisket was so tender and seasoned perfect! I was able to cut it with a butter knife. All the staff we encountered are professional. Atmosphere on point!! Loving it. Definitely will be back!!

Wow, we are traveling across Canada and found this place across from our hotel. The food was amazing and had to pick up some of the BBQ sauce and spices to take with us. Definitely would visit this place again and again. A must stop for anyone transiting by and wants a good Smoke House experience.

Skinnys Smoke House was a really awesome Barbecue experience, the drinks were flowing smoothly and quickly, service was exceptional there, the waitresses were very friendly and attentive. Id personally reccomend the three for three deal, I had some Brisket, it was amazing, Brisket, Pulled pork and Sausage. They have an awesome selection of sides, I love the tater tots pie and the Baked beans.

Ate here twice in a row... the consistency of flavors was there! Amazingly delicious food!!!i ordered 3meats and 3sides, with that amount of meat for a decent price, its a sure WINNER!When are you going to open in edmonton? Cant wait to eat there again! Thanks Shayna and Chuck!

Yum. The dry season on the popcorn is great. Meal served on butcher paper is fun. Seems expensive until you realize how much food is served!

What to say, the food is as good as always and in a brand new and clean location. Can’t wait to come back.

Brisket and honey glazed cornbread. Even if I had only had that I would have still been fully satisfied. Will definitely be returning many times.

First time at new location and overall very good. While visiting here in Medicine Hat we wanted to check out their new location - nicely situated and so "new". Server was right at the front to greet and seat us, and there was ample space with good lighting and a casual vibe.Our server was friendly and helpful, we never felt neglected. We ordered the "three and three" combo which was more than enough for two people for $20.Our meat choices were beef brisket, sausage, and St. Louis ribs. The highlight was the brisket, as a fellow pitmaster I know how hard it can be to achieve a tender and juicy brisket but they nailed it! Fork tender and fatty, really good. Could have been smokier for my taste.Sausage was tasty, again I prefer more smoke. Ribs had a nice smoke ring but were not as tender as I would have expected. There were a variety of house made sauces and I liked the coffee flavor the best. It would be nice to have a bolder sweeter sauce option too. Cornbread was really nice too.Overall a success and we wish you guys all the very best!!

Skinnys was an incredible place to stop. By far some of the best BBQ Ive had, end of story. The atmosphere was great and the service was top notch. I recommend this for any size of group or even just on your own. I personally got the porkzilla and it was an awesome presentation to go on top of how delicious it was.Ill definitely be back soon. You should too.
