Water cascades from a dramatic rock mountain in natural forested surroundings with a wooden bridge.
Fantastic place to enjoy that nature. You need to be aware that you have to drive off-road for the last two kilometers. Also, you have to walk for almost 1 km until you arrive to the waterfall location. So be prepared for a short hiking. If you have elder people, you need to think as it might be difficult for them especially the return walking which will be uphill.
Do not go and lose your time. The way is very titing there and not suitable for humans.
Wonderful, when you visit this beautiful place, your brain get exploded 🥰🤩it is worth every effort and every drop of sweat😉
Great hike, wide trails, beautiful view. The loop at the end of the hike (between the upper and lower part of the fallsis closed because of a landslide, but is passable. "Enter at your own risk". All the following pictures are from the landslide area for your personal risk assessment.
Place is suitable maybe for local folks, for foreighn travelers who saw Alps, other great mountains and waterfalls nothing to do there. The waterfall is completely unimpressive (and what can a tiny stream create?), the road leading to it is of poor quality, narrow, winding and even dangerous in places. I highly recommend to avoid this place, it is just waste of time!
Amazing hiking trail. But if want to see the waterfall you’ve got a long way to go and theres not really much to see.
Great hike from Sarajevo. U can go by car and then walk in the park. Or if u like long steep walks, u can walk all the way from the city hall up the mountain until the waterfalls; this would take around 3:20 hours with some quite steep parts.
This place is very pretty , but you have to park your car and walk about 3 km to get to the waterfall , the downside is there are no directions what so ever , we had to ask people that we randomly saw for directions , there should be signs pointing to the right path because there are multiple paths that you can get lost in . its the woods you really dont want to get lost lol
Very beautiful place with just a few restaurants. They serve fresh fishes and local dishes like cevapi or sudžukica. There are also fast foods but I would not recommend them 😉
Beautiful and mesmerizing! Takes many calories to get there, but remember, the way back takes even more.
Why was franz ferdinand in sarajevo anyway? goofy ahh
Loved the hike, beautiful scenery and so much to explore
The place is amazing, the road is ok but not safe...there are almost no guard rail, you can walk with the car till the water "fountain" after you can walkThe road nees improvement on safety
I drove to this place from the Bijambare cave. The road is very rough and narrow. Parts of the road were also not asphalted and rocky, apparently under repair. The car was on manual gear and the clutch started showing some smell due to heating up. We finally decided to return back. To me it didn’t worth the trip.
It good for the people interested in hikingBut the view of the wasn’t up to the expectations because it is only side view
After a nice walk you will come across beautiful waterfalls. Very doable
So close to Sarajevo, you can find a Bosnia and Herzegovinas gem, the highest waterfall Skakavac. Bring good spirit and good friends, and enjoy!
almost a hundred meters high waterfall located in a dense forest looks beautiful. It is located at an altitude of about 1300 meters and can be reached by forest path on foot or off-road vehicle.
Its a beautiful forest but theres no falls
Quite awesome place near Sarajevo. Awesome views, with some nice hiking paths.
Road to get to it is disaster. By car you can only get to end point where you start walking. You need at least 2 hours hiking through woods and finaly you get to the piont of big rock and water leakaging.... nature is great but not to much to see. Disapointing. My recomandation - dont waste your time to visit this place, only if you want to spent whole day in woods. Not worth it. Go to Kravica waterfals.
Skakavac waterfall has become an increasingly popular spot for relaxation. Not only domestic visitors are interested in this natural tourist attraction, but also tourists from the region. Arabs and Turks are interested as well. The Public Institution for Protected Areas of the Sarajevo Canton recorded more than 1300 visits to the Skakavac waterfall and the picnic site at this location. The Director of this institution Osman Delić said that the number of visitors increased significantly this year.“We started to conduct analyses so that we can prepare parking and access roads for next year,” Delić said. The picnic site near the waterfall is arranged and ready to accept many visitors. The waterfall can be seen from several viewpoints and visitors can walk to the bottom of the waterfall on a forest trail that is secured with handrails.Skakavac is located 12 kilometres north of Sarajevo, above Nahorevo. The waterfall is 98 meters high and together with the broader area it is declared a monument of nature.
Great true nature. Perfect for a hike, mountain bike ride, or just relax and enjoy the sounds of nature. Marked trails with resting spots along the way. Waterfall is a miracle and easy to access top or the bottom of it on foot. Fully recommended for a day out in fresh air and well preserved nature.
Its definitely worth a the hike.
Terrific spot for a half-day or day trip out of Sarajevo. Get there by public transport using bus 69 to Nahorevo. All in all it’s 3-4 hike. I suggest to do the circular trail counterclockwise (that way you safe yourself a 100 m steep climb from the door to the top of the waterfall). Picnic under the waterfall is terrific. Trail is easy to follow. Beware of ice and snow in winter (highest altitude around 1200 m).
Wonderful place near the city. Pretty much untouched nature.
We couldnt see the waterfall and the way is very bad. The way to see the waterfall is closed after we across long distance to see it 😭.
The road is too bad we become ice shake because of the bumpy road. When we arrived there is no waterfall up there even we walked in the forest for 30 minute there is no waterfall. Bad day bad memories bad experience.
Great experience! Nice forest walk and lot to see. Clean water, fresh air. Worth visiting. 🙋🏻♂️
Worth visiting. Nice walk, a lot to see, definitely good place. Hard to access nearby parking by car
Beautiful waterfall but the road to it ..is bad for carsIf you have SUV or 4*4 cars will be much more easier and prepare your self for hiking
Beautiful waterfall, part of the great scenery of the area
Gorgeous waterfall. The trails to view and get down to it are fun to do as well. Not difficult but definitely need to wear appropriate shoes.
Great place clean water and fresh air. Everyone should came and see this beautiful place
Three was water but the wooden bridge was destroyed by falling ice blocks. Was difficult to transpass the flowing water.
An amazing place, I loved it! I recommend if you are in Sarajevo!
Beautiful walk throw the forest, bice place, nice waterfall, one day tour.
waterfall in the middle of nowhere :A bit tricky to get to the beginning of the trail (land rover is ok), the trail is well marked, very steep at some parts. If you like hikes/ultra trails than why not. Check the weather forecast before deciding. Part of route of one of the demanding ultra trails in BiH. Saw I lot of high-school kids with teachers so I guess it`s kids friendly :)
One of the best places to visit in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is a relatively long road to walk towards it, but when you get there, you have a magnificient view of the highest waterfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A perfect place to spend your Sunday.
a wonderful nature, a real treat for hiking lovers. quite a beautiful walk through the woods. Bad road for small cars, for SUVs is ok.
The place is simply wonderful. You can reach the place from Sarajevo by car, from Nahorevo, you must be careful as route is narrow and not in best condition for low cars. Then you need a minimum of 2 hours walk to do the all circuit. Good shoes and the best mood!!!!
We drove to Promaha Cafe, or Dragans cafe, as its known, and then walked from there. The drive had two parts on very steep gravel road which were quite challenging for a small road car and should only be driven by someone familiar with such conditions. From the cafe we walked to the waterfall and it took us 3 hours round trip at a very leasurly pace. Maps attached, from the main map on the road next to the cafe we took the upper road to the top of the waterfall, going straight past the car ramp at some point (and not turning left there, as the road signs indicate). We turned left only at the rest point, close to the viewing point ("vidikovac" is worth a visit too!). The way down to the waterfall was the only challenging part of the hike but the view from the bottom is worth it. From there, we went over the little bridge and then back on the lower mountain path to the cafe.
There is a nice path all the way to the waterfall. Nice scenery once you get there.
One of the most beautiful waterfall and the 2. largest in Europe on the middle of the forest (no ticket!). It worth it hiking to there and see the wonderful landscape. On the forest many signs show the route but i think you use gps or map too. On the route there arent toilet, shop or restaurant. Not a big tour but exspecially in summer you need water and snacks. Go there and see the miracle!
Beautiful. The best way is to go with the bicycle.
Beautiful place.. everyone should visit it. So much nature all the way around..
One of the most beautiful places around Sarajevo. The route is very easy, anyone can reach it, but prepare a lot of food and drinks because it is fairly long. I recommend going there on foot to get the whole experience of being in nature, far from the civilization.
To be honest, the Waterfall is pretty high, but its not abundant with water. But thats OK. I like the way and paths over the waterfall, where its possible to see the spring of the stream. The maintaining service (if such some existsdont do much to promote the tourism of this attraction. The bridge under the waterfall is in a bad condition and the approach is covered with the grass, that should be mowed. I hope that one day this pearl will glow as it deserves :/
We drove to the Skakavac waterfall and the road leading to it was not paved and uphill and hence we parked our car way ahead of our destination increasing our hike distance to more than 10kms.It was totally worth the climb as we had a great waterfall and it was completely empty with no/limited tourists around. We reached the falls itself by 11:30 AM and took us around 2hrs of hiking to reach it.There is a small coffee place near to the top where an old couple makes the perfect bosnian traditional coffee which was the best coffee i had ever had in Bosnia.
Beautiful natural monument, a must-see!
