Skadar Lake National Park - National park in Puke, Albania
Tons of garbages, extremely sad view :(
We bought a 3-hour boat cruise.First impression: you are paying to enter a national park with huge garbage dumps floating around. Birds nest on plastic bottles....What is the ticket money used for? Because certainly not for taking care of the national park area. What id more, I believe that parents with children under the age of 5 should not be allowed on the boat. With such a long cruise, children get bored and interfere with others ability to observe nature.
A must see place, if you are in Montenegro.
One of the biggest and natural lakes in Montenegro! A boat tour might take 2 hrs (if u take a private one, 110€). Beautiful view everywhere. Ask for ‘Captain Luca’ cool guy!
Beautiful place to visit and you can see so much of mother nature. Book your boat trip at least for 2hours and I am sure you will fall in love with this place. It was pleasure to visit this lovely peace of nature.
Worth visiting. The lake is huge, the scenery is amazing. You can drive around and find nice views or take a boat excursion
I love this place, im albanian i visit every year, i grew up by this lake, and bot Montenegrians and Albanians are so Lucky to have this lake
People were trying to sell us a 1h boat trip for two for 60 euros, then we found several other options for 10 euros pax for 2h... Be aware before taking any decision. The parking space is not good and it is on a narrow dirty road.
Beautiful lake. Many boats from Virapazar. U get a chance to go around the lake and also get a chance to swim.
Might be we went in wrong month in October where there were no flowers or so. The best time to visit in May to July as per locals
One of my favourite places that I’ve been to. The landscape and scenery is breathtaking, especially at sunset. I recommend a boat ride through the area for the full experience
Absolutely loved the boat trip over the lake. We took the one starting from the river and the canyon at the north of the lake. Visited a vast open lake area as well as narrow meandering parts covered with lotus flowers and other vegetation.Met quite a lot of birds but these creatures are mostly camera shy and either flew away or dived under water sufferance.
Nice view, stretching from Albania to Montenegro.
This is new restaurant, owner and his family is very nice and helpful. I have with them very nice coffee and very nice chatting
It is a good place and beautiful nature. That is why I’m really curious about how it is utilized.1. Boat trips - a good way to support a national park. But entrance should be more official - right now almost everyone who makes boat trip business is allowed to take “national park fee”. And I’m not sure it goes to national park.2. Boat “captain”: you are in national park! It is not a place to pick water flowers and chase cormorants. Even you are living there and doing business there, you are just guests. And your behavior must be adequate.3. Fishing policy. Well, it is forbidden to do a sport / individual fishing. But there are a lot of nets. I don’t know is there are recreational actions for fish, but I think no any. This fish is your birds Those birds are your national park. This park is your tourists.
One of the many authentic beautiful places in Montenegro where you feel wonderful. Here is untouched nature that provides an unforgettable experience. It is an authentic experience and a very rich spiritual and visual pleasure. My warm recommendation for a visit for which there are no words that can describe everything.
The Skadar lake and surrounding mountains are so beautiful. There are lots of different boats, which you can have a cruise on the lake itself or rent kayaks for a couple of hours. . It is the largest lake in this country. It is a protected area and there are many birds to see. You should see some local pelicans. A must-do is to visit one of the small vineyards close to the lake. We strongly recommend this place!
Wow. A landscape I’ve never seen or could even imagine before. So so so beautiful. If I were a dinosaur, you’d probably find me here. Looks like a perfect roaming ground. We only saw the ‘bend’ but from what I understand there’s loads of outdoorsy stuff to do here. To get to our viewpoint, we had to take a narrow gravel road. It was hilarious and scary and fun. Enjoy!
This place is the most beautiful place I ever been it have more then 70 tipe of birds in the Reagan you can pas thru small villages, big and small islands ,beaches around the cost, clean water ,big mountains all around the cost varies colors
We visited in October, be prepared, that pelicans you can see only in April, May. After a tourist season is started they go closer to Albania, there are less people there. There were not a lot of tourists, we really enjoyed a boat ride seeing different species of birds, being home there. But it was really upsetting to see some plastic bottles and boxes in the lake, we saw also a captain of the boat trying to save a bird from a fishing net.I really hope this place will have a good future without damage from a human being. It really worth to see the lake from top, even though a road is very narrow and dangerous, be sure you have an experience driver for it.
Fantastic, quiet and magnificent place.
I can see why people would rate this a waste of time. We arrived to be overwhelmed by 20 people selling boat trips. First of all theres no prices advertised, old advertising photos that dont look appealing and nor did the surroundings. We were left scratching our heads. We went to the tourist information centre for help and help was not given. We were told they are all the same when I questioned about getting a boat. Anyway we decided to leave and head to the main city Podgorica to do some shopping. Thats when we drove over a bridge and surprised by the beautiful scenery. We were approached by a man who offered us a private boat ride for two for $30 Euro plus $4 each for park fee. We chose a 1 hour ride and it was a prefect amount of time for us. We bought some cold beers from the stall there and soaked up natures beauty.
One of the worlds best kept secrets !!! Truly magical, really recommend taking a boat or kayaks from the side rivers, at every turning there is a different world. Really will take your breath away.Only downside I didn’t find a good restaurant around the area, after being spoiled by Montenegro s cuisine in the south and far north.
Absolutly amazing lake. Worth to see from boat (Virpazar - wide cruises offerand car (picturesque road Rjeka - Virpazar, a bit challenging and narrow).
Beautiful and peaceful place, boat tour was super nice
Amazing place! You can easily rent a small private boat with a pilot to go around the lake when you get there. Not many tourists at all so definitely worth visiting!
Fantastic place with Natural landscapes. Tiny roads with breathtaking views. Summer a bit too hot, spring probably wonderful
An outstanding piece of true, untouched nature ❤
Water isnt clean, had stop to swim, oil from boat everywhere. A lot of diferent birds.
An astonishing lake with rich flora, surrounded by beautiful mountains. It is absolutely worth it to have a boat tour on the water - just go to Virpazar and choose one of the kiosks offering various tours (normal price for a 2 hour trip is 10 Euros plus the park entry fee).
Lovely, romantic, beutiful place. Higly recomendet
Beautiful stunning nature sceneries! Best seen through a kayak ride or a boat trip, although breathtaking from the top too!
Wonderful place! The boat-tours are a must-see! (watch out though, a boat tour is about 10 euros plus 4 Euros for entering the national park per person ! Anything more is a rippoff!)
Amazing amazing amazing. My uncles lives there anyway so i visit those places all the time 👌❤😁
A beautiful place where nature is amasing. We took the boat for one hour and we had the chance to see the lake with all its plants, birds, mountains. The west side of the lake is definitely more interesting and even exotic in terms of scenery.
Superb sites, very relaxing boat ride. We didn’t get to see any pelicans, but that’s probably because we only requested a 2 hour ride. The pelican zone was higher up north. Otherwise, the boat captain was really cool. We had to stop a couple times because the motor got stuck in fishing nets. The captain told us the fisherman was there for nothing cause there’s been no carp there for 2 months. Friendly people, beautiful sceneries. Definitely recommend going there. Parking is free. Better to visit off season cause there’s not a lot of tourists. Still, there’s a downside, the weather changes quickly so you might get a lot of cloud. Still, the temperature is pleasant, not too cold. When you’re on the lake, make sure to grab a warm jacket as the wind can give you chills.
Great boat trip. Very enjoyable ride with Marko. Lake is beautiful. Ask the Skipper to try the water nutshells.
Very beautiful lake, full of flowers and other flora. You can borrow a boat with a sailor or driver (?and get to all beautiful places around. We had been to monastery, where we talked to a very nice monk and drunk their homemade wine :). There are also more organised boattrips starting in Virpas.
In Virpazar it costs 25€ to take a personal boat per hour. Group boats are cheaper but too many people. But visit other places - view point pavlova strana, Žabljak Crnojevića. Boat in Žabljak Crnojevića costs 25 as well. Skadarsko jezero is not only in Vlirazar.
Great park! Nice to see the wildlife and its numerous birds! A very pleasant boat trip with the Golden frog company during 2 hours. Definitely worth it! You can have a swim in the lake!
A great place to stop for a 2 hours of sailing with a boat including swimming&drinking with a beautiful view&great local people
Nice place for a boat trip, lunch and swimming in the warm water. Saw just one snake swimming with us😉 Propably totally harmless..
We joined great montenegro tour, and come this stunning lake. The boat trip was spectacular. That was a warm summer day, and some of us took a dip in the water. So refreshing and memorable.
The best nature I have ever experienced (so far❤
Most beautiful natural wild place.
Quite park with amazing views. Recommend for starter and professional photographers!
Beautiful lake. Can recommend a boat trip. The 2 hours version including swimming break on the lake is really nice. The golden frog offers a very good service and will provide drinks and food on the boat.
We took boat ride from Virpazar June 2017 and we had beautiful one hour on the lake (2 people 25€ plus 4€ per person park fee). We encountered numerous birds and seen some nice historical building remains. Our boat driver was pleasant and give us some interesting info (in local languageof surrounding and life here but was in no way professional tour guide :).We enjoyed this wiser very much.
Such an amazing place ! I made a 2h cruise on the Skadar Lake from a nice little village named Virpazar. The islands are beautiful and the boat made us cross a nenuphar field (not sure all companies do that). After, you can take the car and drive all around the lake. The view is stunning ! A lot of little typical villages are there and seems to be lost in time. If you go to Montenegro, you have to plan visit it !
Nice views, not many people at least on October when we visited.
