Wow Wow Wow, to see such a Beautiful Place and learn the history was Amazing. The green field where people good just relax and take in the sunset was Stunning! This is one of the places we definitely wanted to see while in this Beautiful Country and it will not disappoint. Best place in town to see the sunset for sure!!! The inside closes at 4:30 so make sure you get there in time to take the tour.

This place is ok am I glad I seen it yes would I go there again probably not. There’s not much displays mostly just empty rooms. Like the Gallows could of had what it would of looked like with someone living there back in the day.

It was a great visit! I was really surprised (in the good waythat for $10 per person, you can access both of the sites (Castillo San Felipe del Morro and Castillo San Cristobaland entry is valid for 2 days. Both places were really well kept, almost all of the areas are accessible and there is plenty of information in English and Spanish about the history of the castles and Puerto Rico.

This fort looks like it had better signage than El Morro. Similar build and layout with some differences. El Morro is much larger and probably more worth the entrance fee.

Very beautiful experience but be very careful if you choose to walk it. Its a very long walk with no much protection from the sun. Definitely beautiful once you get to top with a wonderful breeze and lots of kite flying. Take the shortcut through the city if possible.

Bring your walking shoes! There are lots of steps, but the views are incredible. The entire place is well maintained, toilets too. There is a little gift shop with water and Gatorade (youll need it on a hot day, not too much shade here). We went with two pre-teens who loved to run around and climb. A must see if you are in the area!

Very nice place to tour, walk around, or just hangout in the wide open spaces. There is a long walking pathway near the sea edge that loops from the northeastern wall of el Morro (the castle), all the way around the entire complex and extends towards the southwest area of Old San Juan, where the red welcome door to the city is located. The red grand entrance was original intended for dignitaries visiting Puerto Rico on boat.

This place is loaded with history. Entrance fee is $10 for all day in and out of the Castillos. There is a small gift shop inside and bathrooms. There are a lot of photo ops area. There is also an audio tour if desired for a small fee. This most likely will take half of your day.

Amazing experience at the San Juan El Morris fort. Walk back in time to the Spanish colonial days, explore all the faucets of the fort, back from the 1500s till mid 1900s. The audio tour is nice. They accept national park annual passes. Make sure you have sunscreen and glasses though 😎

Very busy but not crowded. The views are great and a nice place to watch the sunset. Must stop by on your visit in San Juan and walk the path down to the fountain.I suggest getting dropped off a few blocks down and walking up 5 to 10 minutes because the traffic was horrible for those trying to drive and park up close.

There is so much to see and so much history here. The views are stunning and the structure is amazing. To think people could build something on this scale in the 1500s is mind blowing. Theres something for everyone, if youre visiting alone or have a family. The ticket is also good for the castle, and you can split up the visits into different days. The fort is A LOT to take in, the castle is a lot easier. Also, theres a lot of local food and shopping nearby. A lot of people fly kites out front, its neat to see and great for kids.

Great area to visit. The cemetery is very nice to walk around in. Look for the cats and the chickens. That surprised me how many are around there. They were doing work on the wallls and they were fixing up some old grave stones as well, so be prepared to possibly see some open graves. Was rather a strange feeling knowing that they had opened a few of them the fix them up. But glad to see that they were working on them.

Incredible site. Well preserved. Tickets were inexpensive, less than 20 each. Parking is a challenge on the weekends anywhere around there. Wear your sneakers if you want to experience the entire fort. Bring water as it gets quite hot. We were there a couple of weeks ago, so I imagine the summer months to be even more hot. Agua de coco is sold by locals all around the island. Great to hydrate. And delicious. * Dont drink too much - google explanation

Beautiful views of the old San Juan peninsula and the La Perla neighborhood. Did you know that the big grass area was a defensive design that was all about reducing cover for invading soldiers, so they would have no place to hide and could get picked off by The defenders of the fort! Great place to just hang out on the grass, and have a picnic or fly a kite.

Beautiful NHS that’s easy to navigate. Free for National park pass holders. Be sure to go early, as it’s very open and sunny area leading up to the site, and within. You can get your National park passport stamped right inside at the visitor center. Clean bathrooms with a quirky overlook inside.

If you visit old San Juan, you must see this place. It’s a piece of Puerto Rico‘s amazing history, starting out as a fortress in the 1550s. You can rent a headset for a few dollars, that gives an audio tour as you walk through the site. There’s stairs and climbing involved, but it’s a lot of fun for anyone who wants to go for a hike/walk through a historic military base.

Its a beautiful área. Great for flying a kite, tumbling down the grass or having a picnic. A family oriented place. The fort was huge and beautiful. Antique building with a great history. There are scooters everywhere you can rent to move around the area, but walking is the best. The ocean view is a plus to the scenario.

Beatiful citadel and rich in history. It was on my bucket list for a long time, finally i was able to visit this iconic fortress while we are here in Old San Juan. It was nice and sunny 2 days ago when we were there. Perfect day to take lots of pictures. Its World Heritage Site by UNESCO, truly this citadel deserved a world recognition. I give it a 5 stars.

Great experience. First time visit for my kids and they loved it. From flying a kite, which I havent done since being a kid, to watching them have the time of their lives running around the big open green area in front of the fort, it was picture perfect. This area has been well preserved, and I hope it will continue to be so for generations to come.

Probably the best place to see in San Juan. It’s a big place, people need to walk a lot and should carry some water and snacks with them. The site is very old, from the 18th century but the government has maintained it very well. There are many spots to take good photos with the blue ocean in the background. Big canyons and prisons are some of the attractions here. They have a shop inside where snacks, drinks and famous items are available. They also provide a historic site stamp for the passport book. Toilets were also available inside the fort and they are clean. The only issue here is, the road to this place is very narrow and sometimes you accidentally hit yourself in one way zone. Just beside the fort gate, underground public parking is available which is very cheap. A must visit place in San Juan.

We visited here on our last day in PR. I wanted to feel the presence of the essences of the great history PR has to offer . You can feel the great energy that still roam through those halls and small towers . I enjoyed the actual artifacts and storylines behind some of the wars that took place. It’s extremely hot during this time of year so the cool towers and rooms help with the shades . There’s a cute store located by the entrance with great souvenirs. I bought a map to hang on my wall . The views were amazing best location in San Juan.

Great time with family in Old San Juan 🌴. Walking 🚶the cobblestone streets and viewing the historic Forts was an amazing experience. Totally a must do for both adults and kids, just wear comfortable walking shoes 👞, wear light coloured clothing as you will be right under the sun 🌞, hydrate with Gatorade (sold at both forts). Its better than water so you can replace the electrolytes youll lose while sweating and take some sunblock 😊. ENJOY ☺.
