Singapore Seafood Republic - Singaporean restaurant in Nishishinminato, Japan
First time trying chilli crab. Maybe it is a legit taste but we felt too much ginger and it was too bitter for us. Ordered large crab but portion is too small for 2 ppl.To be honest, service was not really good as well. They missed our order once and stopped me once for making an order, showing disgruntled facial expression with stopping hand sign.Lastly, price quality was not good (I know Shinagawa has expensive rent but I am talking about relative performance compared to ginza restaurants). Two man used 18 thousand yen but we were not satisfied. End up we went to different restaurant in Akasaka for making up the day.If I use 18 thousand in anywhere in Japan, I would have way better food, service, and atmosphere. Sorry for Singaporian folks who would love this restaurant but I need to be honest here.
I hardly find Singapore Sling except here! I’d say it’s excellent if I can choose kuay teow noodle instead of pasta-ish mee. Of course it’s slightly pricy compared to Malaysian market standard and even Singaporean standard, but even so, this is a good place to feel slight pandan flavour comes from Malay peninsura. Wondering why Durian and Bah Kut Teh are not in the menu.
The chili crab is tasty.. but less spicy maybe it will be tastier if they make it little bit more spicy. S size is just enough for one person because too good to share 😂
Doesnt allow outdoor dining during COVID-19 even though they have outdoor seating. Forces customers to eat inside and risk getting infected.
Disgusting. There were numerous small plastic crumbs INSIDE the nasi goreng, fried rice and noodles.I swallowed one and then ignored it. Then found numerous pieces in the meal itself.Disgusting place, the taste is so bad too.
I only had the chicken rice at lunch and since this place is more known for chilli crab, Im probably judging it differently from other people. Ive also been to Singapore and was craving some good chicken rice so maybe Im unrealistic about it. That being said, it was flavorful chicken rice, a good portion for one person and it came with good sauces. But theres no getting around that its over-priced for what it is (the crab prices are quite reasonable though!). The ambience is very nice though; feels just like Singapore without the heat! (maybe go in the Summer for an authentic experience).
Very good selection and affordable prices. They can accommodate groups of friends and the service is very quick.
It was a great spot especially for gatherings. The only reason it doesnt have 5 stars was the one food I ordered, coconut crab, it tasted nasty, it tasted like bar soap 😂
Visited Singapore just a year ago and we were munched for Singaporean food in Tokyo.Waited 5mins at the reception.Super bad attitude.Left over food on the table.
It was surprisingly good as its rarely the case for south east asian foods in Japan. Not giving full 5 stars because the flavour definitely has been adjusted for Japanese (less spicesand quite on the expensive side. However to be fair on its price, the restaurant is very clean, nice and spacious. It also has an outdoor area which would be great on sunny days. The staffs are very friendly and nice too!Would recommend it if either you miss Singaporean food or want to try it for the first time!
Feel like Im in Singapore🦀
Excellent Singaporean menu, some japanified items but a ton of original Singaporean dishes.I had the black pepper crab, fantastic...
This is a true culinary immersion and especially if you enjoy crabs! Quality is up there and you will not be disappointed. The chocolate creme brulee is heavenly and the staff are very efficient. Great location and ambience and it lives upto its name as part of the broader restaurant group !
Ummm, expensive
Good location, can host big parties but very poor service. Half my time spent in trying to call the waiter. I went for lunch, Average food. Poor quality overall.
Good food. Bad service. Noisy. Slightly dirty. These problems are an easy fix it just shows lazy management.
The chicken is good, but the kwetiaw is not good.
Food was average. Chili crab was overpriced and a little on the sweet side. Service was slow and subpar as our waitress was not friendly nor did she speak up when speaking. Was expecting a bit more of an experience.
Ordered the seafood fried rice and spicy pork rib. Food was meh. Definitely not worth the high price. No takeout of leftovers. Staff was kind of unfriendly too. Maybe ordering their specialty, crabs, would be better.
Expensive, but the design of the place is nice and roomy. Seems to be good for large parties of people. The taste was meh. The laksa uses strange noodles that were not good.
Different kind of Asian style restaurant. Tasty and vibrant there
One of the nice authentic Singapore Restaurant in Tokyo! You can enjoy the chilli Crab
I would say the best chili crab you can hope for outside of singapore. Crab are pretty pricey compared to outside japan but the sauce is good.pineapple fried rice and the seasonal vegetable was good. The shrimps are overpriced, 4 pcs for 1600 jpy.
Food was ok but so pricey compare to JUMBO Singapore.Kangkong and chili crab was good, close to Singapore standard. There is a lot of sauce with the crab, which is perfect with the buns. The chicken satay has the "satay taste" but you can feel it is different from satay in Singapore. The peanuts sauce is also not the usual Singapore sauce, this one is way too watery. The main disappointment are the cereal prawns. The cereal mix is supposed to be crispy with some chili, this one was very soft and salty.I would advise to try the food in one of the JUMBO restaurants in Singapore.
Food is delicious and staffs are approachable.
You can order any kind of menu because there arent so volume per dish.
Very tasty food, fast service and a nice atmosphere. Would definitely return.
Great lunch deals! One of the best Haian chicken I’ve had!
Went for lunch. Amazing service and food!
laksa only available during lunch time 😥
Decent Singaporean food in this restaurant. Great location opposite the Shinagawa train station.
I am from Singapore and I will not recommend this place at all! Crab is overly priced and tasted terrible! Will buy me a flight ticket to fly back, to spare the dissatisfaction.
Loved the ambience in this high ceilinged, wood paneled restaurant. Food was excellent, fast and reasonably priced. Stop by the Singapore Seafood Republic the next time you’re at Shinagawa Station. No passport required!
If you are from Singapore or Hong Kong, the crabs they serve are super small; not much meat at all. Overall taste was average. There were also some flies flying around, which was not pleasant. As others have mentioned, it is also on the expensive side. However, it is located just across from the Shinagawa Station (3-min walk), so it is very convenient.
Very expensive a food not good. The spicy crab was awful, and thats their signature dish! Cannot recommend.
I heard that authentic Chinese restaurants in Japan are known only in the Chinese SNS. Though this particular restaurant is probably well known also among the Japanese, it is certainly very South East Asian, not customized specially for "Japanese customers", which I highly appreciate. The taste is excellent as well. I deduced one star for the relative high pricing.
Typical singaporean restaurant & Nice atmosphere
It’s an amazing eatery..Please go am crab all you like..!!The place is good .. enjoy
foods, drinks and interior are give you singapore atmosphere.
If you like crab, you will love this place. The food is amazing.
Typical large drink oriented restaurant. Food is average. Good for large groups.
Nice lunchtimes atmosphere but was disappointed by the vegetable hotpot. Mostly rice with a thin layer of vegetables. Tasty but not worth the price.
The food is average minus, the price is high and the service is outrages. Not recomanded at all! Dont go there.
Not a bad place, but not amazing either. A bit overpriced and the service wasn’t very friendly or attentive. The food was tasty though, especially the garlic shrimp.
When we came on around 15:10 on Saturday, they said "Its closed, reopen on 16:30." even though they display opening hour from 11 am to 11 pm on web site.We were pretty confused and just left.
Large quantity for your $$$. Food is served fast, hot and ready to eat. Great for groups to share a variety of dishes!
I dont eat meat or spicy food. But this places can also offer seafood and you may ask to make it not spicy.
I liked the noodles and crabs. Good place for group dinner. Deserts were also delicious.
Ordered pork from their spicy BBQ menu and it was not spicy and terrible. Toast was nothing great.
Great South East Asian cuisine, little bit of atmosphere, but the staff were keen on kicking us out with an early last call. A little bit pricey, expect to pay an arm and a leg for the crabs.
