Silver City Chinese Restaurant in Broken Hill
Description
Privilege
Beautiful meal...great service great prices...
Dont be put off by the interior, food was good, came quickly and was very tasty, staff friendly
MoreBest satay chicken ive had
Blow flies were rampant. Food was cold. Staff member laughed and said she could count 7 blow flies around a table. Do yourselves a favour and give this place a miss!
MoreTheir lunch specials are very good.
Staff were efficient and helpful. That is where it ends though. The meals I chose were not enjoyable; poorly cooked, tasteless. They ended up in the rubbish. Not again.
MoreThis Chinese restaurant has good and tasty food. Delicious fried rice, awesome sweet & sour pork, crispy veggies, nice Mongolian beef and really good prawns & seafood must try😁👍. Good service and friendly staff, thanks guys. Recommended here. Will try more later on. (Delicious Tuesday lunch specials😋👌, great portion.)Photos by: jesusbelievers_noah I.G & F.B
MoreLovely meals & wonderful service. Thank you.
Went in and ordered takeaway satay combination and fried rice both meals were very nice... lovely service from waitress ..she was busy with phone orders and walkin customers and her customer service while taking phone orders and greeting walkins was very professional and curteous.
MoreNice meals but expensive!
We have been trying to call you for over an hour. Both phone numbers either revert to new year closing dates (5 months ago), or a private answering service msg.How can you possibly do business if we cant contact you?Very irritated
MoreAlways amazing food
The food was good (not great), the service was amazing but we found the cost a bit high.
MoreVery friendly staff and excellent food. A surprisingly varied wine list for a venue that has such a strong takeaway trade.
MoreValue for money. Great tasting dishes.
Sit down. Meal was nice. Service slow. Temp warm. Nil atmosphere.
Tasty food, a bit too much sauce and a bit expensive as the take away and dine in are the same prices, but they dont scrimp on the meat servings as most other Chinese restaurants do, hence the four stars.
MoreMy wife struggle with English. Waitress got impatient and walked away when she was ordering. Definitely would not recommend this restaurant
MoreLove the freshly cooked meals, good price for lunch takeaway.always busy.so phone to order.
MoreAmazing !Great waitressChefs on pointBest night everET was there too!
Old, very old restaurant. Garlic dish was tasty, good portion sizes.
The food is reasonably good.We understand the restrictions associated with covid-19.However, the rule of no sharing food even within the family does not make any sense. Particularly this is Chinese restaurant, where sharing food within the family is the traditional culture.
MoreWorst Chinese I have ever eaten. Very expensive, greezy and salty.Venue needs a facelift and a good clean.
MoreThe food is delicious but at times the wait staff need to be more professional, you do not start vacuuming while customers are still sitting at the table
MoreFriendly service & great food. Menu was big so we were spoilt for choice. Great for families too.
MoreIts changed a lot in six months. Food is well portioned, crispy fresh vegetables are used instead of frozen mush that some other places use.Sometimes during peak meal times there can be delays of up to 35 minutes but its well worth the wait. All this place needs is a dining room upgrade. Then Id give it. 5 star.
MoreThe satay sauce was so salty that no one could eat it and the satay sticks were battered.......not pleasant. The pork spare ribs were battered not good. We had home delivery and it was very expensive for what we received and most of the food was thrown out. This would have to be the worst chinese food we have ever had.
MoreNice people and nice food :)
The person serving had the personality of a wet mop. Was told it was table service but that was minimal. The food was the worst Chinese I have eaten in my life, not to mention the most expensive. Will not be back and will not recommend it to anyone.
MoreWe were a bit shocked by the prices when we walked in, but we all agreed that the take away servings were generous and very damn tasty! We got a Malaysian Chicken Satay (a little spicy), Green Chicken Curry, Honey Chicken and fried & steamed rice. All up it was $78. But unlike our local City Pearl Chinese restaurant back home, where we regularly send $70+, this time we got a half bag of free prawn chips! Weve never been offered that at home, even with a $300 order! Thanks Silver City Chinese! 😊
MoreWhilst visiting relatives in Broken Hill a special occasion. We decided to enjoy a Chinese meal on our last night. We walked into this restaurant at 8pm.The reception we received by the table waitress on entering the restaurant was rude and embarrassing. I asked politely for a table for 7 people. I was told by the steely faced woman to understand that they closed at 9pm. Clearly she was not happy to see us. As we were pointed to a table we were given menus. When my niece asked for water we expected a bottle to come with glasses for all of us. Instead she bought one plastic bottle no glass. She did not ask anyone else if they wanted drinks we had to ask. All this time we did not receive a smile or any friendly approach. We told her that on their website it said they closed at 10pm. She rudely says" no thats wrong, it leads you to another site that says 9pm." We checked for this it does not! We have never felt so unwanted as a customer in any restaurant environment ever before in our lives. The food waiter and waitress who delivered ourmeals and cleared our table were very friendly. They obviously do not know their front staff are attempting to turn their customers away because she wants to go home as early as she can. Another couple came in whilst we were there and were also rudely pointed to a table with rolled eyes by this waitress they too felt very uncomfortable. They were locals. We will not recommend them to our friends visiting the Hill and I will let my Broken Hill family know about this experience so that they can tell their friends. This woman needs to be spoken to by the owners of this restaurant if they have any pride in their business and customer service !!!! Disgraceful!!!The meals were very nice and generous servings unfortunately we could not relax just wanted to eat and leave before 9 oclock
MoreTERRIBLE customer service. Upon arriving, no acknowledgment by staff who were in the bar area. One was being berated by (assumethe manager. After a few minutes, was finally approached. Although had arrived 45 min before closing time, was told wouldn’t be seated as kitchen had cleaned up. Let waitress/manager know that online times had listed an hour later as the closing time, was told that was wrong (rudely). Was made to feel bad for having audacity to order takeaway 45 mins before closing time. Ordered two curries, these were almost inedible due to chilli (as a chilli fan, this is saying something). No warning that these dishes would be so spicy, and had ordered them several times previously without incident. Will not be returning, would not recommend, unless significant improvement in customer service and interpersonal skills of the ‘face’ of the business who meets customers on arrival (manager/waitress).
MoreReally nice food and good service. I just wish they would accept payment over the phone for deliveries.
MoreFour years since we passed through Broken Hill and had our first Silver City Chinese. Must say, it didn’t disappoint this time around either. Generous serves, good value. Hope it won’t be our last visit, even though it’s a very long way from home!
MoreGood food, no-one could go away hungry, plenty for lunch next day 😀
We went there to have chinese food as it was very old establishment and the menu looked really good .The jungle chicken was really good however the duck was salty and the fried rice was dry and could be made better .the restaurant was clean and looked very busy but they could really have a good cook to make the food better .
MoreIts not even as bad as everyone says. Its just on the pricey side and sometimes the rice is dry. Never had an issue with this place other than that though
MoreThe WORST service I have ever experienced. This place in the big cities would not survive, and with minimum competition in Broken Hill this is the only reason i could think of as to how they are still operating. They obviously have no passion to allow their customers to experience both great food and service and it is so sad. Arrived wanting a table for 6, no staff around for about 5 minutes. Was approached and asked "Are yous right"We are then seated to see no waiter for approx 10minutes. We almost walked out but hoped things would change as we were all looking forward to dining out there. No option for second round of drinks, and no option for dessert menu.Could I leave 1 positive note, the food was lovely but unfortunately the horrible service has left me never wanting to go back.
MoreQuick friendly service. Great fresh tasting food. And plenty leftover to take home.
MoreGreat food, great people and great value. Our meals were excellent. The take away business is flat out. It is a shame that the locals do not take the time to sit in.Will eat here again when next we pass this way.
MoreTerrible service. I have enough time to write this bad review while ill stand here and watch the waitress ignore me and 5 other people waiting to be served while she sells alcohol to some obviously intoxicated diners. Food was very bland, the new chef is terrible...
MoreWas overpriced, paid $24 for bugger all crispy skin duck that wasnt even crispy. Didnt enjoy it at all. Service was very slow from start to finish. Wont go back.
MoreGreat lunch time meals, just right size not too much and freshly cooked on the spot.
MoreGood food. The restaurant look like your typical Chinese restaurant. Service was a little lacking hence the reason I wouldnt give five stars
MoreThe place is ok, that is just about all I can say. The atmosphere is rather sterile and food 5-6/10. Staff are friendly and trying very hard.
MoreA must do in Broken Hill. Fresh and tasty probably one of the nicest chinese meals we have had....and we love chinese and Thai food. The staff were great and attentive, they were so busy and the service was quick. Traditional styled restaurant in an old heritage biulding. Family friendly the kids enjoyed a bit of everything including fried icecream for dessert!
MoreFor a full review refer to Silver City FaceBook page under reviews. I reviewed today 28/01/17.Basic summary - good staff and atmosphere. Tough stringy duck that was impossible to eat with a spoon and fork. Old wontons (short soupthat were brown and tough. THeycharge you $1 for ALL eftpos transactions even from savings acc. Whats with that.Dont bother eating there, try somewhere else.
MoreLovely food. Reasonable price and great service at the counter by a lovely lady. Always eat here.
MoreTo be completely honest I was appalled by The whole experience. The staff were unfriendly, some dishes I paid for were not deliverd which in actual fact was a blessing in disguise as the food was tasteless slop not worth digesting. I will not be eating here again.
MoreAwesome food large portions cheap prices great service very happy a definite must go back.
