Sigiriya - Sri Lankan restaurant in Charlottenburg-Nord, Germany
If you want to pay by card don’t ask for the bill!!!Otherwise food was nice but don’t make the same mistake.
Been here multiple times and it was always very good! All the people I took to this restaurant were very satisfied. The staff is also very friendly. One of the best South Asian places to eat in Friedrichshain! (try the the dishes with eggplant pls, its really good.)
Pretty average food overall considering the price. Did not try the rothi which looked pretty tasty. Nice interior and good service but not particularly culinarily exciting.
Super fast, fresh, colorful and flavorful meal. My first time trying Shrilankan food- Berlin is home to so many ethnicities of cuisines. Open late and a relaxed atmosphere to hang out with your friends and eat delicious food. Would definitely go back to try different things on the menu, all the tables around us were ordering other amazing looking dishes.
Very very usual food.No special taste at all.
This is my third time in sigiriya they have very delicious food and authentic sirilankan food and friendly staff. I will recommend you this nresturant.
Ordered Mutton Biryani, half of it was just onion. Huge and super small pieces in every single bite. I couldnt even divide onions from the rest.Another vegetarian dish with lentils and spinach was very plain, tasteless.I ended up not eating anything at all.
Amazing Diversity of dishes. We came here several times and always tried something different and each time we were impressed.
Me and my friends were looking for a place to eat and came across Sigiriya and I am very glad we did because everything tasted delicious! The service was also very nice and friendly. Definitely looking forward to come back and try more delicious dishes. Great find :)
Highly recommend the lunch menu :they have vegan options too
Best Sri Lankan food I ever had in Berlin. So my varieties to choose from.Their string hoppers and appe are my favourites
My experience was bad as I took my work people to this restaurant and the waitress was rude. She wasnt happy with us and did not have a clue about the food they serve. Even more she shows attitude even though we tried to be nice with her.Food was decent we ordered a good amount on a non busy day. We paid around €135 for 6 people. They served tap water on previously used water bottles and charged us €2.5.Just dont feel its a good experience when we walked out.wouldnt recommend . Just disappointed. I rather get a good treatment even though the food was half decent.
A great place to taste some real Sri Lankan flavour. Highly recommended.
A heartwarming experience, totally worth a visit if you are in the area. The food is amazingly good and the service is very dedicated. They dont serve anything spicy but feel free to ask for spicy sauce to add it to your taste. This made every dish even more delicious and fit for anyone.
Had a good time here! Food was nice, nothing spectacular but its a small local restaurant. Honest place to go for a chicken curry. Service was informal but sweet. Pricing was fair, in the average of affordable Berlin. Less than 20€ per person for a main course, beer and dessert. Very likely to return!
First time to try out Sri Lankan food and really had a good expereience. Food we had was tasty and they had queit a few options. The service was excellent and friendly.
I loved the daal and coconut sambal. The other dishes we had could use a bit more spices. I will gladly try again next time Im near...The menu is quite large. It would be helpful to have pictures. Even better: offer rice-and-curry with a bit of everything (like thalifor a good price. People will love it and they can try all curries and find their favorites. it should even be a bit cheaper to produce because its more of the same.
Friendly staff with Crispy appams and spicy curries!!If you’re in the Friedrichshain area this is a good simple restaurant for a scrumptious Sri Lankan meal.
Hoppers are the best. Hoppers are bowl-shaped pancakes from Sri Lanka made from fermented rice flour and coconut milk (photo lower left). You can fill them with curry and eat them with your hands.String hoppers look like nests of noodles (photo rightand are made of a dough of roasted red rice flour and warm water, pushed through a sieve to turn into strands, then steamed. These are also served with curry.
Best Srilankan food you can find in Europe. In my 2 nights stay in Berlin i had dinner here. Friendly staff, superb service.
Love this restaurant. Taking rides from Mitte to this place twice a week. One of my absolute favorites in Berlin.Unique and beautifully composed dishes. I take everyone visiting to this place for a lovely experience. No fotos unfortunately, because it’s halfway gone once I think of it.
Delicious food! This is one restaurant I keep going back to and they never disappoint. Appe and Iddi Appe are my go-to order here. Chicken and beef curries are spicy enough for the Indian palate and the sambole reminds me of the flavours of South India. 😇
It was fine, but current rating is too high for this restaurant. The food isn’t great so as the service. The portions are small. There are so many better options in Berlin. Don’t recommend this place.
Finally an authentic and home made South Asian Restaurant! The chai is a proper one! And food is simply delicious. I loved it!
Good Sri Lankan food in Berlin. Service is best. It may not be the authentic exact taste, still its as close as you can get outside of Sri Lanka.
one of my fav places. Super yummy food, prices are good, portions could be a bit bigger. Staff usually very friendly. I really enjoy this place and their food!
The food was good, the quantity was good, yet I felt like the sauce wasnt enough for the 4 iddiappams on my plate. I wanted to try the appe, but they are available only in the evening, and Ill definitely go back for those. The Idde appams by themselves were good, very light and the sauce was quite tasty. My friend took a kothu roti with chicken, which was also quite tasty. There was only one waitress when I went on a Sunday afternoon, who was also handling the bar, so things moved pretty slow. Yet she was quite attentive, gave suggestions etc. I definitely recommend checking out the place atleast once, and I know Ill go back for more. :)
Had some aapam, idiaapam and kothu parotta here. For my Indian taste buds, the kothu parotta was a bit off from what I expected. The crispiness of kothu parotta was missing. The aapam and idiaapam were fresh and tasted great. The grated coconut accompaniment is there in almost every dish - that could be avoided though or an alternate choice could be provided. A great place to taste some Sri Lankan flavour though it’s a tad bit on the expensive side
Simple and natural. Reminded me of the food from home in India :I would go again. Thanks!
The place is small but cozy (just try not to sit in the table in front of the door during the winter). The food is good and not too spicy, which in my case was a positive thing. The waiters were nice and smiley. Desserts maybe could be improved a bit, they are not so special.. but overall Ive spent a nice evening :)
Stumbled randomly in the restaurant, we never had Sri Lankan food but it was sooooo tasty!! 😋 the menu is amazing where they explain even the health benefits of the different spices :and all beef & lamb is organic!
Honestly a bit disappointed after seeing all the positive reviews, dont get me wrong, the food was good but I expected something extraordinary and it wasnt. 😑 I ordered a "Alu Kessel Hodhi Mit Polos Hodhi" for the main dish, there wasnt enough sauce for the rice and the main ingredient wasnt tasteful enough in my opinion. For dessert I ordered a Gemischter Eisbecher which was just ice cream, I expected something else but oh well. 🍨The place is really nice with a themed Sri Lankan aesthetic. The waitresses were really nice but a bit absent-minded, even though the restaurant was almost empty, I had to wave multiple times before they noticed me.
Very delicious foods. Especially since we are from Sri Lanka we needed to have something taste like back home, We are very satisfied with what we had..we had typical sri lankan rice and curry and we took Pol rotti, Koththu rotti as take away too. Can recommend to every sri lankan living in Berlin as well as anyone who likes to get the taste of Sri Lankan foods.
The rice dishes are very authentic here, you can ask for more rice, more coconut sambol, and the service is very friendly too.
Amazing food, nice owner and staff. Thanks for the experience and hospitality.
Lovely hosts, great atmosphere and delicious food, the plentiful vegan options being a highlight. Even the toilet is neately designed, is clean and smells nice, something that I‘ve come to rather appreciate than expect from Berlin. Overall this is a fantastic place to dine, I‘m coming back!
Best Sri Lankan restaurant outside of Sri Lanka.Very tasteful decor. If you are trying Sri Lankan food for the first time, try Hoppers or Kothu.Delicious. Make sure to tell them your level of spice. They run hotter than Thai or Indian food.
Their kottu rothi is much more taster than Sri Lankan shops.. up to the standards. I personally dont like salads but they served a kottu with some salad that actually changed my perception.Calm and peaceful place for dine in, even their price is not that expensive.
A good Sri Lankan restaurant that serves good South Indian dishes too especially Appam and idiyappam. For all the Malayalis out there in Berlin, you won’t be disappointed. Try out their appam and chicken combo. Not the best place to buy cocktails though. If you are in a mood to drink, there are much better options around.
My first time trying Srilankan Aappa (hoppers)! Definitely something to try, very crispy and delicious! The curry that goes with it is also spicy and tasty!
Went there to enjoy my country foods. It was absolute amazing. Had a Kotthu and Hoppers, honestly Kotthu was better than one you could’ve get in Sri Lanka. Very friendly service and had a chat with the owner too. Very nice and humble person. If I go to Berlin again, I’d definitely go there.Edit 2021:Living in Berlin several years, I have been to this place many times. Highly recommend.
We are from 🇱🇰. Food tastes authentic. You can choose spicy levels. Great atmosphere. Friendy staff. Street parking outside. Outside seating available.
Good food, but a bit overpriced, specially when you have already been in sri lanka and ate the same roti dishes for 2€.Update 30.08.20: Both rotis we had were absolutely tasteless. This was our last visit hereCash only... very oldschool
I loved the hospitality of the staff and the food was so good. I had a Koththu Roti, an authentic Sri Lankan meal which you should never miss out. Have a bite of the Koththu and your tastebuds will thank you later 😉. A must visit restaurant to taste the authentic Sri Lankan food.
As an Indian, I’ve often searched for that satisfying home-made feeling in Berlin’s Indian restaurants, with little success. South Indian food like Appams and Idiyappams, even less so. But the Dhal at Srigiya took me home without a flight or a passport. Who knew the best Indian restaurant in town was actually Sri Lankan? I would absolutely recommended this spot. Five stars for taste. Three stars for ambiance, four stars for service. #berlin #friedrichshain
If you enjoy authentic cuisine at a cheap price, this is it!Small and cozy, clean with friendly and polite staff. Prices are low, portions bug and delicious.Eating here is like going back to Sru Lanka. Good is cooked and spiced authentically and served like a small family restaurent would. Every thing we tried here was what we expected, and deliciously so. No wonder locals have called it one of their favorite places and recommended it so heavily!
Its a small place with great food and friendly staff. Many vegetarian dishes inside the menu, this red lentils with coconut milk was really delicious!
Good service! Taste is not the best i have tasted in Berlin as Sri Lankan! Tried veg kottu and polsambal, taste felt bit boring.
Awesome food ... we tried dosa with eggplant curry , potato curry and yellow lentil and in dessert we tried something with jaggery and ice-cream ....everything was super delicious 😋... must visit place in Berlin 👌🏻😋
This is probably my favorite restaurant in Berlin. The food is amazing! They also have a big menu that explains everything, such as all the spices, etc. They have German menus and English menus. The prices are also very good. I highly recommend Sigirya.
