Sidecar in New Braunfels

Sidecar is the exact cocktail bar that every city needs. The atmosphere is more NOLA like than any other bar in Texas. The chipped old brick walls, wooden ceiling thats the foundation of the upstairs hotel, and the mood light all do the trick. The live piano music added to the perfect ambiance. That ambiance is only outdone by the quality of the drinks. The classic sazerac and French 75 I had were excellent. This is a perfect spot to chat with the bartender, bring a date, or just lounge. Cell reception is available on Verizon in the basement, and street parking isnt too hard to find. Sidecar is truly exceptional.

I still love this place for date night but was disappointed to see they retired their flatbreads from the food menu. Also missing that coffee creme brulee! The new food items are good but the veggie options just arent as tasty. The baked brie is a winner and the salad is good but the pecan "chorizo" is a really small amount of food to ask $14 for. The drinks are still amazing but hoping they keep updating the food menu and either bring back some favorites or add some other veggie options.

We were on vacation and stopped in here on a whim. Best bar ever. Great old fashions and the piano player was Billy Joel, Elton John, and Mozart combined!!!!

Use to love it here but lost good food and drink items. The charcuterie board had the perfect combo of meat, cheese, sweet and salty nuts, jam, even had amazing bacon on it sometimes. Some great drinks gone too. Really wish it didnt change. I dont haveca menu or drink item I love anymore. The live music is nice.

Drinks and food were all good. It is a fun speakeasy ambience. Drinks range from $4/$8/$10 (beersto $13/$15 (cocktails). Very unique cocktails! The food was all tasty. The portions werr small for the price but the flavors were on point. Most were $12-$17. The tuna nachos were our fave. I think the menu changes frequently.

Visited on a Thursday evening. The ambiance and vibe is cool but intimate. Drinks were outstanding and the tapas delicious. The wait staff was awesome, very attentive and courteous. A woman sitting adjacent to us accidentally dropped a full wine glass and the staff went into turbo mode and cleaned up the mess quickly and efficiently. The evening didn’t skip a beat. Would like to thank the woman for graciously offering to buy a round for our table, not necessary but very sweet. Will definitely return soon!!!

Im a four year regular. I go once a week and sometimes twice.Consistently great drinks, delicious tapas, friendly staff, and amazing live jazz from a diverse group of musicians and bands.

Good enough cocktails, very spendy. Service was lame. Plenty of open tables that were “reserved” and the host didn’t give us direction just sent us to the bar that was packed and there was no room to even order a drink. I thought my first experience would be better since so many ppl talked so highly.

This place is great! Local hang out. Calm cool and collect. Old-fashiond is amazing. Ask for the “Still Austin” bourbon. #stillAustin

This place is a recent obsession. The amazing cocktails, the live music, the phenomenal small plates, the moody ambiance. These cocktails genuinely rival Austins best speakeasys. Also, the menu rotates seasonally, so you wont be bored long.

Incredible drinks and fantastic, knowledgeable staff. Patrick as our waiter and he was the best. The bar has such a unique atmosphere and the live music just puts it over the top!

Good, strong drinks. Lots of choices for spirits if youre so inclined. Really unique speakeasy vibe, complete with being in a basement. We came on St. Patricks day and they had traditional Irish folk songs playing. Definitely different from the other bar options in downtown, in a good/more sophisticated way.

One night my husband and I went to muck & fuss for date night and had about an hour wait before we would be seated. WE decided to check out Sidecar and have a few drinks while we wait for our table. We walk down the stairs and my husband opens the door for me and as we start to enter the room we both stop at the door. There was very few people inside but who ever was inside (employees & bartenders includedjust stared at us very rudely. My husband and I have never felt more judged and unwelcome in our whole lives. I questioned if it was what we were wearing? Was there something on my face? But honestly that shouldnt have mattered because there is no dress code and honestly we were both dressed pretty nice and formal for our date. With out saying a word to each other We both decided after a very short momoment of being judged and stared at that we should just leave and hopefully our table will be ready soon at muck and fuss. Because of our experience we have no desire to ever go back .

Great place for date night or just to hear some wonderful local jazz music. Drinks are well made and the staff is attentive. It is the perfect place if you are looking for a low key change of pace in downtown NB. We love this place and every time we have visited, we have always had an amazing time. It is best to make reservations since it is a small place. They do allow walk ups if they have the space but are usually full on Friday and Saturday nights. There is a tapas style menu to snack on as well as an array of tasty and beautiful cocktails. They also have an extensive whiskey selection to choose from.

This place is awesome!!! I wish I lived closer I would come daily to unwind. A great place to hear some jazz. It has an awesome speakeasy feel to it. If you are near NB you need to check it out.

A truly special cocktail bar with expert mixologists. They had excellent live jazz on the Friday night when we visited. This is a class of bar that you never expect to find outside of a big city! A real hidden gem.

Excellent service & great drinks! Love the atmosphere too. Had the Last Empress (?and the Lavender Bees Knees on the bartenders suggestion, both very delicious and not too sweet.

This review is for the bartender that served me tonight, Curtis. He makes the entire speakeasy vibe/experience. He knows his way around the bottles, can make you the perfect drink based on your preference, and he made me the best espresso martini I’ve ever had tonight…I know I won’t shut up about it for at least a week. The signature drink Sidecar is perfectly mixed and is to die for. Definitely recommend coming here for the drinks and the vibe that you can’t get anywhere else in NB.

New favorite bar, and in my best bar of all time list. 1st, the staff is friendly, warm, and attentive. 2nd, great bar atmosphere, have to see it. 3rd, bartenders know their craft. They put the craft in cocktail. Have enjoyed every libation ordered. 4th, interesting music with a grand piano in house. Glad that Sisecar is in my town.

Our experience was so amazing! I called just a few days before we left for my sister’s bachelorette trip, and they had the Darnaby room available. It was super easy to book! Gus was so amazing to us and went over and beyond to give us everything we asked for (even when we were high maintenance). The vibe of the place was absolutely stunning and will 100% return if I visit New Braunfels again!

A really nice lounge that also serves small bite tapas appetizers. Sort of a speakeasy upscale atmosphere with a very good whiskey selection, including some choice scotch whiskies. Wait staff was not very knowledgeable on scotch, but they were very friendly and prompt. Ill definitely return to Sidecar.

Sat 10 minutes at the bar with dirty dishes of the previous patron with no service.5 male workers and 1 female (who was the only one workingwere behind the bar to the far right. I left.The decor is beautiful but the service is terrible.

Oh my goodness, this place is an absolute gem. Great atmosphere, fantastic drinks, incredible tapas, and service—out of this world. Live music and such a unique ambience.

This is the best atmosphere bar in New Braunfels! The small space, low ceiling and dark atmosphere makes it feel intimate as soon as you walk in.The specialty drink menu is fantastic! Were big fans of the Manhattans but we really havent had anything we didnt like here.The music can be a little loud at times because its a small space but the quality is always good so wait until later to chat and enjoy it.

Super cute Prohibition basement style bar. The drinks and staff are great. My spouse loved the smoked old fashion and I enjoyed trying the Root of All Evil before switching to an average Cab. The live pianist was amazing! It really helped set the atmosphere and it was such a pleasure to actively listen to and passively hear in the background. The food is tapas style and I would say this is where they lost their last star. We did Korean meatballs, Chile lemon shrimp, roast cauliflower, ceviche and espresso creme brulee. It was all good, but none of it was a "wow!". Overall, a great NB find and perfect date night.

Went here with two friends for the first time last. Both are discerning cocktail enthusiasts. We all agreed that Sidecar is an amazing locale and experience! Great drinks, ambiance, live music and service (thank you Laurel!). A true gem for New Braunfels.

Been here twice so far. The first time Trent—who happened to be filling in both times we went—was our bartender. The second time he was our waiter. He is simply amazing. Excellent bartender and fantastic conversationalist. Really knows his whiskey and has some serious style to boot. I believe last night he was donning his Bob Ross button up paired with his Bob Ross socks that have an actual Bob Ross afro.On top of that, the hostess (who we later learned was the actual ownerseated us without reservations and treated us like royalty from the onset. She got us an incredible table in the corner. I dont know her name, but shes a bright spot in New Braunfels.Drinks: Theyre fantastic. I like to sample Old Fashioneds everywhere I go. I had had one at another restaurant across town and it was just...okay. But the subtly in the flavors and the attention to detail are unmatched anywhere else Ive been so far.The jazz band was PERFECT. Not too loud, but just right. It set the mood and really made me feel like we were in a legit speak easy in the 1920s.Excellent vibe. Delicious drinks. Wonderful management and staff.Sidecar is my go to for drinks and chill in New Braunfels.

I reserved 1 of the snug rooms on Tuesday evening. The angel that took care of myself & 2 of my staff is a credit to your establishment. We were able to have a few drinks in peace, eat, & decompress! I actually slept that night (& the next!!!which I wholeheartedly credit to having such smooth, uncomplicated, intelligent, & witty service.Everything she recommended was delicious & appreciated the knowledge of each menu item as well as the additional fun facts. I also appreciate her methodology as I was settling our tab.I saw you, chicky. Thank you.

Had an excellent time with my friends at sidecar. Bartenders knew just what to recommend and make for us. The bar was clean and atmosphere was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Went to sidecar for my girlfriends bday. Best decision ever. Not only was Brie, the waitress, super attentive, she was funny and made the experience one that we are still laughing about a week later. A fabulous wait staff makes all the difference! As a special topping, the incredible bartender hand delivered all of our special drink orders and gave us excellent recommendations. Really love this hidden gem!! Great job Sidecar for rockin it.

Sidecar is a great new bar (that is actually openin New Braunfels. I’m so glad we stopped in. It will not be the last time! It maybe is a good thing I don’t live right there because I’d be in every night. Great drink selection and some tasty snacks too. The bartenders are friendly and I’d recommend making reservations as Sidecar fills up quickly. Once you visit, you’ll thank me. I’ll wait.

The private rooms are where we had our evening at. The rooms where nicely decorated and provided great ambiance. The server, John, was excellent. The appetizers and drinks were very very good.

Great drinks! Great service! The appetizers are good. We really like the place, only downside is that the music is so loud, you cant have a conversation when a band is playing. We go there for the ambiance and to chat with our friends, not to see live music.

Seated immediately. Great drink list with very unique drinks & a decent wine & beer list. The food comes from next door and is fabulous. We had the jalapeno cheese fritters; so good & the presentation was impressive. FYI, the drink list online isnt even close to what they actually have. Full bar with lots of top end choices.

Now, this is an Fn craft cocktail bar! Excellent old school, speak easy type bar, in a basement. Tons of great spirit choices, piano, and great service. This is a great place to take a date, or business clients. Service was great, with attentive bartender who asks your preferences and caters the drink to your taste. (Bartender was Curtis, very skilledI rarely give a full 5 stars, but this place earned it almost from when I walked in the door.

Loved this place! The drinks were amazing. No syrupy cocktails here!! Food was delicious as well. The service was good and the waitress was very helpful. Will definitely be back.

I love the atmosphere! Live jazzy music, cool cocktails...it is a perfect date night spot. Their old fashion is one of the best I have had. Even though it was busy, the service was excellent and the bar tenders were personable and knowledgable. You can order food there as well.

I had my doubts walking in... I was so wrong. For starters the steak is awesome. Try the steak. Curtis did an amazing job watching over our table and assisting with our choices. Live band was great, not my normal thing but it was a nice touch for the ambiance. Every detail was unbelievably great. Now according to Curtis the porkchop is the way to go... we will find out next week. All in all, just come down it is a nice relaxing place with good food.
