Shuktara Nature Retreat, Uddin Hills, Shahporan Uposhohor,Khadimnagar, Bangladesh, Sylhet
Surrounded by forested hills, this relaxed, ecofriendly resort built from local materials and using solar energy is 3 km from Khadim National Park and 9 km from Keane Bridge. Osmani International Airport is 20 km away.Housed in cottages built from recycled wood and brick, the rustic rooms feature balconies with views over the forest and hills. All offer free Wi-Fi, cable TV, and tea and coffeemaking facilities. Some add roof gardens with panoramic views. There's a charming open-air restaurant, a lounge, and a rooftop terrace with a BBQ. Other amenities include a cosy library, a game room and an outdoor pool, plus a kids' pool.
Its a nature park with spectacular natural scenery.I felt a cozy and comfortable environment here among lots of unknown trees and fauna. They have their own restaurants and they have a museum with some traditional touch.I always prefer to pass some of my great time along with my family 👪 there.I feel fantabulous with a sound of a giant wind-chime.
This was one of the greatest stay the was good the service was great but but the place it is set on is the top of a mountain it is hard get up and down but other then that everything thing was greet
If you want to go to a resort and just sit on the balcony only then choose this place. The landscape is very good and this is the only good thing about this resort .They wont deliver any food in the room. You have to climb up and down the hill and go to their restaurant every time you want to eat something.Expensive food, average taste.Frankly, disappointing
The pathway from room to restaurant is not easy enough for ladies and aged people. Moreover. No room service is available. Another point is much important for visitors that they cannot go out of room at night or just after evening due to excessive mosquitoes. The food is extremely high price according to the taste and quantity.Otherwise the decoration of the room was very very nice along with the balcony. Infact the exterior and interior of the whole place was really attractive. Another beautiful idea was the presence of a Library having so many good books. I shall recommend this resort to my near and dear ones for a nice relaxation.
I liked the place. Its nice. The room rent could have been lower. With all the options that they offer, 6k per night would have been better instead of 10k per night. They made a mess with the electricals - switches are placed randomly all around the room. It takes a while to figure out the switch locations. The food at their restaurant is quite good but the portion sizes are not standard. Some 1:2 items are good for 3 people and some 1:2 items will barely feed one person. But the quality of their food is really really good. Was disappointed with the tea/coffe that they offer.Shower gel and liquid handwash not provided. We got a cheap soap bar. The tea in the room was extremely disappointing. The sachets of green tea was disgusting. Since Sylhet is "Cha er rajjo (kingdom of tea)", they will be the worst people to represent the tea culture. They must change the tea sachets in the room and add a good coffee machine in their restaurant. The powder milk tea and the breakfast coffee at breakfast buffet is not good at all. They keep the place nice and clean, and have nice floral decorations all around the place. Its a good place but needs some maintenance. Wont be going back for the second time but its ok for a one time visit.
Needs maintenance of facilities and amenities but overall it provides really good experience.
Last 24 September 2022 we go shuktara Nature resort. Awesome time spend in this resort. It’s was our marriage anniversary. We bring a cake for our anniversary but restaurant manager charged 1000 taka for cutting this. We didn’t understand why they was charged? We bring cake self. We cut self. But restaurants manager says they have rules for charge. Personally i was gone totally 4 time but last time experience was too much bad because their behaviour was not good.We are a natural lover that’s why we should choose this place. Need to change staff behaviour.
Very calm & clean environment. Excellent natural condition, away from any mechanical sound. Friendly staff, good menus, affordable too.
Cordiality and manner is the most important thing in resort business, which they lack of.
Superb place to visit and have some snacks.
The environment, hospitality, nature -hills and forest, quality of food everything was excellent.
We had only one issue and I am sure it was just a one-of matter... there was no water supply in the washroom from midnight till morning until we called the concerned number. But other than that... everything is just perfect. The food is too good. I went with my mother, sister and brother and we took the large suite with hill view. We were very very happy with our stay. Will go back again soon Insha Allah.
We booked their best rooms, Kameni and Jui, which are located side by side and have interconnecting doors. As we were a large group we were looking forward to the rooms. However, upon arrival they said that the AC in Jui was suddenly not working, and so they would give us a replacement room. Although they upgraded a room, the fact that we as a large group wanted to stay together didnt work out after this issue. The rooms were decent with good views and were spacious. The dining services required us to book meals in advance, and staff seemed a bit rude when dealing with orders and during the dining services. Food quality was good, and thankfully, that made us forget the bad service. The location of the resort is good, as in its about a 30 min CNG ride from the Sylhet main town area. The resort offers some recreational facilities, such as swimming pool, games area (billiards, table tennis, carrom), hill viewing points, a 20 min walk to see tea plantations (they claim its a 10 min walk, but actually its around 20 mins). The swimming pool seemed a bit unclean, like it wasnt cleaned as frequently as it needed to, but more so that there didnt seem to be anyone actively looking out for the pool area. The Wi-Fi was decent in the rooms, but not as good in the public areas. This place would probably be best experienced in winter. Overall, if their services improve, this place has good potential to be the next resort destination in Sylhet.
I am more than pleased with my stay at the Shuktara Nature Retreat. My family and I were welcomed with hospitality comparable to any 5-star hotel. The rooms were clean and manicured. With accommodating staff, delicious food, and peaceful immersion in nature, I could not ask for a more relaxing weekend. I want to give an additional shout-out to the food. You could close your eyes and point to anything on the menu and be happy with your meal! Its impressive considering they have such an extensive menu. Moreover, walking throughout the resort, it is clear how much thought was put into its design. Shuktara is the perfect blend of comfort, sustainability, and an eco-friendly aesthetic. This is some of the most beautiful and creative biomorphic architecture around. With its beautiful scenery, top-notch service, and fun activities (such as pool, ping ping, a swimming pool, and nature walks), this retreat is classified as a true gem. Dont hesitate to book your stay here, you will not regret it!
This is truly a nature retreat... Didnt feel like it is a man made forest. All natural and sight seeing is great... You should stay 2 days straight to completely visit the whole place...
It is what it is named: a nature retreat in its true literal form. If you are looking to just escape from reality for a couple of days and unplug, this is the place for you. The natural setting is immensely beautiful and scenic and you can spend hours just doing nothing. Food is also great and reasonably priced. However, cleanliness is an aspect that could warrant some more attention from the hotel management. The sheets on our bed were spotty, and their were cobwebs on the ceilings and on the lights. But then again, this is not a place you go to for luxury, this is a place just to get lost amidst nature.
What should I say! Below average quality resort, yet the cost is huge. The pool is like a bathtub, the resort is more like a random bush. The foods tasted horrible. One thing is good, which is the staffs were well-mannered. But it isn’t enough to rate it higher than 1*. I wish I could rate it a 0*.
I think the best combination of nature and architecture. The constructions blend in so well it is hardly noticeable that you are living somewhere other than nature. Price is reasonable campared to experience. Food is also good and justifies the price. Any season any time good to go.
Words cant describe the beauty of this place. If you want to enjoy peace & calmness then this is the place you must go for.
A serene place to find peace. We were visiting from sylhet. So it wasnt a overnight stay, rather more like a visit to enjoy nature and rest in the restaurant, reading zone. Then have some fun on the indoor play zone in grond floor.
A Paradise is waiting for nature lovers in sylhet. Architect Zarin Madam has learn how to create an enchanting Resort while keeping nature intact. Blue clouds, green forests, purple flowers red butterfly yellow birds Orange sunlight ..... This is like a unique natural form of the rainbow! The golden sunrise of the dawn, the creeping of countless birds of the morning, blooming of various wild flowers in the noon, the croaking of the cuckoo in the midnoon, the game of squirrels in the afternoon, the invitation of jhi jhi poka in the evening , the enchanting form of the magical moon at night and precious calm and quiet atmosphere at midnight ...... Just mind blowing! Thanks giving is upon us ,which means the holiday season is in full swing.
Beautiful place, lovely room, great food and the staff is always ready to help and serve us in a nice and efficient way.
They only allow you to roam around their resort if you book in advance. Although we asked them if we dine in would you guys allow us to roam around they refused. Later as we also wanted to take a room just to see their resort. Nevertheless, they said there is no room available. A few minutes later a foreigner came and the manager offered him a room. Such a worst management. 😐
An wonderful destination for a retreat, especially if you are planning for some calm & quiet, close to nature time
Its great to visit such place when you are trying to skip busy days and enjoy with the loved one. Sirish suite had a good view of hills, AC worked but TV didnt. Shower had tempered waters. Foods were delicious but no foods in the room allowed. People were very humble and they really take good care of the place and guests. But keep in mind its not a cheap/budget kinda place. All were well decorated. We went with bike so kept in Infront of the restaurant but the main parking is downhill. They have a pool but wasnt happening 🙄. Also they have a trial of hiking to a hill top and a tea garden nearby. You can keep this place in the bucket list.
A place surrounded full of greenery, aesthetics and calmness would surely refresh you & giving the mindful of pleasure. From arrival to departure, I found great services there. Though architecturally theres a lot of scope to work with for betterment.
Amazing experience for all kind of trips- self exploratory, with friends, with family. Brings you close to nature and creates a lot of respect for the local ways and the carefully designed architecture in details.A huge respect to Ar. Zarina Hossain🌸
They were very professional & humble. The environment was too good, place is beautiful and well decorated. I will recommend every tourist to visit the place.
One of the best place to stay at Sylhet. An eco friendly nature respecting place surrounded by forested hills. Full resort is nicely decorated with flowers. Some attractive amenities are cosy library, outside pool and games room. Good environment and excellent restaurant in a quite and very charming.
this place is simply amazing. every corner in this place is covered with beauty. the five days we stayed there, i felt like it was a heaven. and the hospitality of theirs feels like home. i will definitely come back here. and i highly recommend this place ❤
Those nature lovers who like calm and silent place, this is recommended for them. We stayed at mountain view room. Loved the environment. Food is okay.
Just amazing resort. Mind blowing ambiance. I love their cottage and full environment. Fresh and clean. If you want to go peaceful place. Please go there without any doubt. Couple or group of people any tour will be peaceful. Highly recommend this place
This place is out of city noise and close to natures beauty, very natural with mind blowing view from the hill top. There food is good and very decent hospitality. The room decore has a retro feel.
The location is worth 5 stars but the amenities are worth 3, hence the 4 star rating. The lights in the room and bathroom were dim, and the shower head needed to be descaled. The water supply has a very metallic smell. The walk from the lobby to the rooms is not easy for elderly guests. We were told that the kitchen does not serve tea during dinner service, which was odd.On the plus side, the location is seamlessly integrated with the woods, we spotted many birds and squirrels and made friends with the very polite resident dog. The food served by the hotel restaurant is excellent and the staff are polite, professional, and helpful.
Their rooms are okay but almost all others services are extremely poor. Even we saw strains here and there on the bed. They have no professional service staff at all, rather some local individuals who didn’t seem to have any idea regarding how to serve the guests. Theor compound is too small to roam around. Their snacks quality are below average. However, the traditional bengali items are good to eat for lunch and dinner. Its almost very common to be annoyed with the outside unbearable loud sounds of music to keep you stay awake from the middle of the night. Its terrible. There is no room service or anything between 10pm and 8am. They don’t allow you to have food inside the room. They have a tiny swimming pool but that too is not usable because they don’t nurture it. You will find flock of mosquitoes almost everywhere outside. Overall, it wasn’t that good experience. This resort is only okay for those who simply want to see how a resort in the forest would look like. That too is at such a price.
This place is surprisingly calm! Every corner of the place is filled with love! Its a real healing place for your mind and body! The location of the resort is perfect... Not that much closer to the town and not even too much off-centric! Stuffs are super helpful! Food is yammy! You dont need to roam around in any other place to find beauty in your trip...I found Everything in here! ❤️
Great place amidst nature. And very rarely do resorts in Bangladesh offer good food. Shuktara is one of those few that serve great meals. Breakfast could improve a bit though. Overall, Im amazed by the place every time I visit!
Shuktara is a hidden gem and definitely a nice respite from the hustle and bustle of Sylhet and Dhaka. The grounds are meticulously kept and the resort is surrounded by greenery. First, the food is excellent, the Indian and Bangladeshi dishes are by far the best. The breakfast buffet has a good selection and they vary it from day to day. The views from the hillside rooms are gorgeous and they even play peaceful music on speakers outside. With all that said there are a couple of things that need work: the mattresses are very hard, cleanliness and maintenance of the rooms could be improved, and it would be nice if there was some type of guide or information provided on what there is to do in the area. We would have been willing to do a tour or activity but didnt know what was available. Overall it was a good time and worth the price!
I love this place. I stayed here a couple of times. But this is the first time Im staying during the pandemic. Sadly, Ive barely seen hotel staffs wearing mask. Even when they saw me wearing mask, most of them did not even bother to wear one. Ive seen no mask no service writings all around the place but theres no implementation. I could pay less in other hotels with better safety protocols.Regardless, I enjoyed during my stay. I wish the management will pay some attention to the pandemic and the health safety of the guest.Their restaurant has one of the best kitchen in Sylhet. Too bad they dont offer room service, which could have been a great way for me to avoid maskless resort employees.
If you have foreign clients/visitors coming to BD, or if you are a tourist looking for a place to stay which is close to nature while exploring the viridescent beauty of Sylhet, this is exactly the place. The whole compound is huge, high up on a hill with quite a bit of trek to and from the lobby/restaurant/rooms. Wouldn’t recommend this for elderly or disabled guests. My experience was pretty good. The food, esp the Chicken Ala Kiev, their house-made yogurt & grilled fish were lovely. I’d recommend the air conditioned rooms. The non-AC rooms were not up-to-the-mark. The pool was small and could’ve been cleaner. If you’re a night owl or look for tourist spots with night life, this place might not be for you. It’s dead by 6pm, and with no spa or bar in the resort, it can get quite boring after sunset. But the view is phenomenal and there are plenty of cats in the compound, so if you’re a pawrent, you’ll love having them around! I wouldn’t recommend staying here for more than a night or two.
Believe it or not, I heard that this place is haunted.Mostly the babies and pregnant women face many supernatural activities here. The babies faces challenges mostly after evening. Without any reason they started crying for tho whole night. So aware to go there by investing 10/15/20k no one wants such problems.
Stayed for 4 days there. They have very good structures and the environment is mind soothing. But the services need to be improved. I got no wifi in room. ac remote, tv were problematic. Food was good. You should only stay here if you need to stay in nature. Otherwise, its a bit far from the city and visiting tourist spots will cost you around an extra hour in most cases.
This place is stunning 🤩 Artistic one. Eve-thing has decorated perfectly. Such a beautiful place. Food is awesome. Room is clean. I would love to go there again. The view from balcony is breathtaking. Has a train to pull up luggage and even people. The owner has definitely cared this place like her dream. Waiting to go there again. Cant hold myself
I have been in to many resorts of BD but this is one of the best resort ever. Fantastic place .pure eco and natural beauty with ultimate luxury on the up hill. They got swimming pool ,library ,indoor games ,and hill and jungle view rooms.Highly recommend.Room tariff is a bit high.
Magnificent atmosphere. But rooms are a bit distance from reception. If you are healthy or not used to physical activities, youll run outta breath climbing small hill. Food is just.. average. Rooms are cozy and big
Really loved the nature around here, very raw and beautiful. It’s very green and natural but in terms of price it’s pricey. It’s understandable if the price is a bit higher but according to the price we are paying the service is not good at all. I was staying there for 5 days and there were literally no body to clean and give room service even tho we asked couple of times. Either they weren’t coming or they were very latex when i ask for fresh towels or i want the room to be cleaned it should br done immediately. So i was very disappointed.
Shukhtara Nature Retreat is one of best holiday resorts Ive been so far. I really loved it. The amenities, room and restaurant facilities was quite good. Though the entry point is uphill but they have wheelchair accessible entrance facility as well. The whole place is big and relaxing. If youre planning for a weekend chill, you can definitely choose them.
It was an awesome experience. The resort is very nice, having a wonderful ambiance. The accommodation, food and everything else was reasonable. The whole premise was clean. The staff were very well mannered. Very safe for family and newly married couples.
Good place, could be great. I visited at the height of monsoon and found the resort largely uninhabited. Though I admit the seclusion was immensely enjoyable, the staff may have been a bit lax in maintaining the resort.1. Food was excellent, but pretty pricy.2. Rooms were good, solid plumbing.3. The views are great, the staff very amicable. If you want a quiet getaway, Id recommend definitely.
We just completed a 3 day vacation at this beautiful resort. It’s extremely green, artistic and homely. Loved the style and artistic creativity.Just like to highlight a few improvement areas -Bathroom towels are very poor , needs to be replaced as well the linens .Fan regulator doesn’t workThe TV is too old and needs to be provided with channelsDinning service extremely poor , very few waitersToo many cats in the dinning areaDinning cutleries needs to replacedNot friendly for older people , uneven walk way and too many stepsThere is no walk way at the resortParking area is too smallPremises can be cleaner, overall lack of maintenance and monitoring.People want to come to this very beautiful resort but I cannot recommend unless they improve in these aspects. Hope these will be taken into consideration.
