A beautiful place for a relaxing walk around the water. Many places to sit and relax or watch the carp and turtles. Fun for kids to buy carp food and feed them!Difficult to access all the main paths with a stroller but there are alternative routes that work.

This is a quiet, peaceful garden in the hub of the city. My wife and I spent about 90 minutes exploring the grounds and relaxing. You can buy fish food at the front to feed the groups of koi fish swimming in the large pond. I recommend doing this, as its fun to see them swim up and eat.Its attached to a museum, which offers a combination ticket, but we didnt visit the museum. Youre only about a 3 minute walk from a tram stop.

A very serene place with a very interesting history. There is an entrance fee of 260 yen for adults. If you are planning to go to Hiroshima castle you can stop here first. The castle is only 11 to 15 mins by foot fromt his place.

Took my boys here to take pictures of them in their uniforms. I was planning on seeing this beautiful bridge and ended up with so much more! The Sakura trees were near the end of their bloom, and the petals were falling like snow! There was a bamboo forest and gorgeous pond with so many koi! The walking trails were perfectly laid out and the signs along the path explained all the little details of the garden. I would place this in my top 3 most gorgeous places I’ve seen yet! So so beautiful!

One of the most beautiful place in Hiroshima! It really worths to visit it and take a time to relax, to breath, to respect what this city had been through and what it is today. It is close to other turistic places and very easy to get there.

Love this ‘little’ garden that’s in the middle of the city (linked to the Hiroshima Prefectural Art Museum which is next to the Shukkeien-mae tram stop). Plum blossoms are blooming, perfuming the area with a sweet plum scent. There was at least 1 (rougeSakura tree blooming too (blooming seasons in general - plum blossoms’ in Feb/Mar, peach blossoms’ Mar/Ap and Sakura in Apr/MayWorth the visit if you have a free morning to spare. Bring sandwiches or a bento to enjoy the cool weather under the sun (the cafe sold out on lunch by 12:30pm 😭)

A Japanese garden, what can I say, very old, wiped out by the A bomb in Hiroshima but Japanese people are very resilient and methodical. They just built it back again. Also theres a museum on site, great architecture, simple nice building, modern structure.

It’s called the “shrunken garden” for good reason. The different elements of many Japanese gardens are shrunken down and fit into this garden.A beautiful villa for the lord of the past. Pond, tea house, herbal garden, Bamboo garden and even mini Mount Fuji! The lord has really outdone himself! The location is easy to find. 15 min walk from Hiroshima station. Seniors over 65 years old enter free with passport shown at the ticket counter. The garden is just beside the Hiroshima art museum. You can also buy a combo ticket. There are friendly volunteer guides as well who help you take group photos and also good explanations of the history but only in Japanese.Lovely place to visit for both young and old.But if you’ve been to a few Japanese gardens, you might want to give it a miss if you don’t have time.

Amazing garden in the heart of the city with a deep history. Costs ¥260 for one adult which is very worthwhile for the experience. I recommend going during golden hour, although the garden closes at 5pm (from October to March), because the way the sun reflects off the trees and high rise buildings is quite a sight. My pictures don’t do it justice. I also suggest allocating at least an hour to walk around the entire garden and take photos. I got there at 4pm and was able to finish by the time the garden closed but I wasn’t able to go through every single path. It also wasn’t too busy at this time.

Absolutely beautiful garden. Sadly we went on a cloudy day with slight drizzle here & there (which is the best for quality photosbut it was still gorgeous. Can’t imagine how beautiful it would be when everything is in bloom. We went in late December so probably less crowds too. You do need to pay an entrance fee of about 260Yen per adult but it’s worth it.

Happen to see this while walking through the area. Had a peaceful stroll through the garden, and the maple trees where starting to show their fall colors. Beautiful! Based on the pamphlet, spring would be equally spectacular with cherry, plum and peach trees blooming.

Very tranquil garden in the middle of Hiroshima. The stone arch is distinguishing piece to this garden, but the walk is very much worth it. A recommended route is marked so as to give direction to those who want to go through with the cost of admission and the history is always appreciated.

Peaceful and tranquil garden, well kept in the centre of Hiroshima. Well worth a visit to wander around for an hour. They also have traditional tea making in the garden on certain days which is interesting, if a little expensive (¥600 per person). Theres also an Art Museum connected to the gardens. Would recommend a visit to the gardens to take a break from the city.

A respite from worries in the middle of a large city. Paths circumnavigate the lake which is its main feature. Not a good place for those that have troube walking. Uneven paths and narrow bridges with no hand rails. Many benches along the path. A refreshment stand and a gift shop just inside the front gate.

It was my first experience visiting a big Japanese garden and it took me about an 75 minutes to stroll around. It is really beautiful but not as interesting as I expected before going there but anyway it certainly worths a visit while youre in Hiroshima. Entry can be combined with the prefectural art museum for 350 yen but I didnt do that. It is 15 minutes from Hiroshima castle on foot to takes 25 minutes to get to the peace park on foot. There you see lots of colored and big fish and lots of turtles! Relaxing and beautiful!

This park is absolutely beautiful.I didnt pay for the art museum entrance, but it wasnt expensive for only the park considering they have to keep this place maintained. It was like a fairytale. We went in summer, so there werent a lot of flowers in bloom, but it was still picture perfect. Bring lunch, there are a lot of great views! But bring your trash with you.The pond houses alot of beautiful koi and turtles, and we even found a crab on a walk. The park is quite big, with trails to choose from. Would definitely go again

It is a very wonderful and tasteful Japanese garden. The park is very spacious, but the recommended route is divided by time required, so we can enjoy the course we like. There was also a special route for wheelchair users. When I went there, 80% of visiter were foreigners, and everyone seemed to enjoy it uniformly.A hot day requires a drinks, caps and sunglasses. Please enjoy it with the art museum.

Excellent traditional japanese garden; very well kept and peaceful. It was raining when we visited, so it was almost empty. Kids are free and adults were ¥260. There were volunteers that explained the history of the garden. It was a great experience; highly recommended.

Beautiful park. ¥150 entry for students and well worth it. Highly recommend spending a nice sunny morning here. Leisurely stroll can be done in 30-40 minutes but they have a 10-20 minute faster route too. Such amazing scenery and the garden is well cared for.I recommend sitting on one of the many benches and reading a book, enjoying the nature and sounds away from the busy city. Cant go wrong here

One very beautiful Japanese style garden and easily accessible. From the exterior, the place looks "simple" but once one is inside, the whole atmosphere changes. Beautiful therein!!!The landscape with trees, ponds and sculptures created the awesome feel. The whole place has been well kept and maintained despite the patronage of tourists.

Shukkeien is an absolutely stunning garden with such a wide range of flowers, plants & trees to discover. Coupled with all the wildlife the garden attracts it makes for a truly tranquil and relaxing walk through the garden. Id recommend coming here with enough time to just slowly walk around and take in the calming atmosphere without needing to rush through! There are vending machines near the cafe at the entrance so if you forgot to bring some water make sure you get a bottle before heading through the garden as there are no other vending machines.

Beautiful garden in Hiroshima, from what I could tell most was rebuilt in the 70s and has had a lot of time to flourish since then. Very beautiful sights and informative plaques with interesting pieces of history dotted across the grounds. Friendly staff could be seen maintaining the garden during my time there. The best part was the fish and turtles coming right up to the waterline to say hello!

We visited this garden on our first day to the city, and it was not a mistake. The gardens are beautiful. As you enter the gardens youll feel as though you are walking back in time. They are located in the city, but youd never nkow it. Id recommend traveling to Hiroshima to see these gardens.

Beautiful garden with many flowers as well as a serene koi poind. Three trees that survived the A-bomb are located in this garden and can be found by looking at signs. As the park is not very big I would recommended only setting aside around thirty minutes to an hour to visit it.

Very recommended place to go if you want to see autumn foilage! Even tho not all of the tree turning red, but there are majority. Come in Mid to Late November, all the ginko and maple leave is turning beautifully. There are a lot of public seat so you can enjoy while having snacks or chatting with family and friends. If you are an international student, you can get in for free.
