Shuck Shack in San Antonio

Unfortunately it closed, and I was there on one of their last days. Other than that, it was definitely one of the best relaxed seafood restaurants in SA. Loved it!!

Looking for a seafood place near my area brought me here. The atmosphere was great and that night the weather was fantastic so sitting outside was great. The service was amazing and top notch. I loved all the oyster selections and the food was amazing. I highly recommend this place, and the staff was extremely friendly.

Environment:Very low-key, private area, a great place to have a real conversation. reggae music. dates at night/family time during the day and early evening. drink some micheladas, watch the children play/watch sports on outside projector. not the best on rainy days since most real estate is outside.Food:Somebody slap me in the face. The Shuck shack is bringing it. Hot chicken. Better than Nashville. Go get you some. I tried the hottest one and I ate it... and enjoyed it ....and they definately brought the heat! the shuck and cluck is here. Now I dont know how many of yall San Antonians are out there that love you some of that hot-fried-chicken-Nashville-style......but I can say Ive been on the hunt for the past year for some of the best hot fried chicken in San Antonio and I finally found it here!!!!!Closed Mondays. Best place to get oysters at the Pearl District. Come for micheladas, oysters and hot fried chicken.I actually found a pearl in one of my oysters, ha! Projector and big projector wall. Plenty of seating, reservations not required.Theres a playground for the kiddos, I just wished they placed jugs out for water or maybe some homemade sweet tea...so we can get addicted and keep coming back, day after day, but mainly so the children stay hydrated while playing under that tarp. Ahi Poke Tuna nachos are delicious but wish it was a bigger serving. Oyster Chowdah is amazing. Micheladas are delicious. The artichoke was a yummy snack too and great to share. This place is a hidden gem! Perfect date night especially right when the Texas sun goes down and the summer nights outside feel soo good. Its like a eating off the coast at a beach house.

Awesome food! The deviled eggs are fantastic along with their fried chicken. Definitely recommend this place!

I had a dozen gulf oysters, jumbo shrimp with brussel sprouts. Kids had cheeseburgers with fries. The oysters were freshly shucked and were delicious. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and the sauces tasted homemade. The food gets 5 stars. My only gripe was the outside area needs work. Several benches were falling apart with rusty nails sticking out. Service was a little slow but she was very friendly.

Nice Dive Bar with good food, fresh oysters, good fried chicken, fried catfish and a nice selection of good beer on tap as well other drink selections and cocktails. Nice play area for the kids as well. Yes I eat here quite often 😂

This was our first time here and we enjoyed it. Our server was great and for the most part the food was delicious. My husband got the fish tacos- perfect! He usually orders fish tacos when we go out and is always underwhelmed with their tilapia tacos. Shuck Shack serves Mahi tacos! Again, they were great. We ordered the hot thigh nuggets as an appetizer. We were a little hesitant when they came to the table and looked like every day chicken strips..... they were anything but. They were so fresh, hot and juicy! I ordered what I think was called the Frank Dog. Its a hot dog with crawfish and fried onions with chilies on top; the match up wasnt very good but each individual item was good. Wed go again! I think our server was Jose? He was wearing a funky flamingo button up that our 10 year old liked enough that she complimented it!

Youll think youre at the beach at this oyster house of sorts. I sat inside at lunchtime and got the burger. Its flavor wasnt my favorite but it was unique and well-seasoned. The waiter offered their homemade ranch with the fries and it was delicious. The service was mostly attentive and it made for a quick lunch.

This place is amazing! Great chicken and crawfish when in season. I usually get the Hot Chicken sandwich, they have different heat levels and past their second level they give you a warning regarding heat and boy are they right! Its beyong spicy but as a spice lover it was everything I was looking for! Despite my mouth being on fire, you could taste how well made and seasoned the chicken itself was. Fried pickles are great, and all the sides are amazing as well. definitely a must visit.

Unbelievable freshness and flavors. The fried chicken is bad though. Super hot with no flavor. Have yall tried adding salt?

Great place to grab a drink and have a bite to eat. They were about to close when we got there but they went ahead and let us stay and try theyre delicious food. Great customer service!

My husband found this little piece of heaven online and I must say Im definitely hooked! Everything we had was amazing! But that lobster roll is everything 🤤 The atmosphere was so relaxing and we are outside which was very pleasant. All the food was fresh with a pleasant presentation, the staff was amazing, friendly, and gave us a very welcoming feeling. Definitely going to be a regular place for us to have dinner.

An interesting place with good music and good food, first time trying oysters and oh boy, didnt disappoint, ask for the a plate with the different oysters and enjoy a ride if flavor

Loved it. Small town feeling in the big city. Amazing staff and great friendly service and you must try the fried pickles. We ate most of them before I took the photo but hey they were amazing.

It was nice that it had a dog friendly patio, and the service was friendly. We were totally not impressed with any of the food though. We tried the jalapeno and cheddar hush puppies which were ok, but waaaaay too greasy and served with just mayo to dip them in. Then we had the lobster roll which was 22 dollars so we figured it would be decent. To me it tasted just like the crab salad sandwiches that Subway used to have, plus it was super, super tiny.

Heres what 22 dollars gets you... phone for scale. Not great. Way overpriced. I could go to a nice place like landrys or something for cheaper than this.

The food and service here is amazing! We actually left another oyster bar because we were so disappointed with how things were going - decided to come here, and that was a great choice. We were looking for some charred oysters. They informed us that they do not have any on the menu, but they were more than happy to still accommodate for us. The charred oysters were so fresh, and exactly what we were looking for. Great price too! Only charged us the happy hour price. I also ordered the deep eddy cocktail, and it came with a popsicle in it! Sooo yummy and a perfect drink to have after walking around all day. Will definitely be back.

I love this place and come here frequently. Unfortunately, its hard to get crawfish unless youre there on the weekend or later in the day. But the catfish is phenomenal so I still go there to chill and drink some beer. They have a lot of outdoor space with shade and a playground area for the kids. Very family friendly place and the staff is always smiling and seem genuinely happy to be there.

Went in with high hopes. Decided to take a drive from shaeinfield and 1604 to try this place out on my bday 3-12. Should have just went to the local smash n crab.Upon arriving i was impressed on how big it was outside lots of benches and a playground for kids. And let me say these benches had maybe 6 people sitting in them in total. Thats being generous.Inside had another handfull.Moving on we placed our drink order.Took about 10 mins to get our beer. Funny when i can reach and grab it myself. If you sat inside you would know how small it was.Asked for sweet tea. No sweet tea served.This is TEXAS right? Should have been a red flag there. Lol. Not a really a deal breaker.Well after placing the order me and the wife were talking about how this is a nice kick back place. Maybe hit it up before the parade since its a stones throw from broadway. Well that was short lived.My wife ordered a simple fried tenders Meal. It came out 40 mins later.My crawfish was nowhere to be seen. I get told it takes a bit to cook. Lmao. Who you kidding ive down plenty of 50 plus lbs boils. Not to mention the ones at home inside. She goes to check on it. After 10 more mins i asked for the check. I had enough. Another woman looked at the ticket and went to tell the kitchen something about the ticket order taking almost a hr. Im guessing tbis woman didnt know how long it really was.Well as soon as i get the ticket the food is magically ready.Im good. Yall can keep it. I dont want any free bees.Wife said we should give it another chance. Idk. Had high hopes after seeing there posts on fb.And let me stress. Maybe 15 people in total there. As big as this place is thats nothing. I hate to see what the ticket times run at a 1/4 full.

Everything was on point!! Oysters, fried chicken, hush puppies, mac&cheese and brussel sprouts. Cant wait to go again

This was one of 5 restaurants we tasted while on a SATX food tour. Seafood was fresh and it had a laid back atmosphere.

We were in San Antonio for the weekend and stopped by for dinner around 9:00 PM. Service is great and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The food is more on the fried side of things but they do offer some grilled options if you are concerned about the extra fat. We had the fried catfish and spicy chicken. Both are really flavorful. The spice level on the chicken comes in 3 levels of spicy. I had level 2 and it was a mouth burner for sure but I love heat. Level 3 has to be insanely spicy so careful of your choice. There is plenty of outside seating and we liked the vibe of the place. Price point is a bit high for the food they serve but this place is definitely worth checking out.

The hot chicken was spicy, but had no other real flavor and the breading was overdone such that it flakes off the meat leaving more or less bland chicken with no flavor underneath. We ordered a sangria pitcher, and it was mostly ice but costed $32; way overpriced for what was received. The waiter knew very little about the menu and seemed like it might have been his first day (didnt say this as an excuse, but served like it). He didnt know which oysters were there that day, the prices, or how to describe them. Their specialty is oysters! Despite this, the oysters were pretty good. My dining partner said that the burger was too salty, also. When the menu is small, everything made should be excellent, and the waitstaff should be 100% familiar with all the items. Likely wont return.

This has a nice playground for the kids and access to northeast Atlantic oysters. My waiter did not know where the special of the day oysters were from. Service was slower than I would have predicted from the empty tables on a quiet Sunday afternoon. About 30 min for kids chicken fingers, a hot dog, oysters, and two rolls. The lobster rolls were not what I expected. They were a mayo heavy seafood salad on a hot dog bun with lobster cubes in it.

Kind of just wandered into this place next to The Modernist on Grayson St. Had drinks which were okay, nothing spectacular. My husband ordered 2 wings and a side which did take quite a while to make on what seemed to be a pretty slow Saturday night. Its nice if your not in a rush and we werent so we just rolled with it. My husband got what the shuck spice level 12 out of 10 which is the hottest spice they have. It was super spicy, he teared up lol. So yeah buyer beware it is spicy and no refunds if you cant handle it. The brussel sprouts were pretty good though, and the server was nice enough to bring my husband some pickles to help dull the raging fire in his mouth. All in all, not a bad place, but not super great either.

One of the worst meals I ever had. Service was awful. The waiter started out by telling us that the menu was recently changed, but he hasnt tried any of the new items and he cant tell us whether they are good or not. Really? Thats encouraging. Then my husband wanted a beer on tap, but none of the taps were working. The food was awful as well. I had the lobster roll, and while that was tasty, it was literally 4 bites of food for $22 dollars. Completely outrageous. My husband had the fried chicken, one of the new things on their menu, and that was just awful. The batter was super thick, but had no flavor, it was over-fried, like someone left it in the fryer and forgot about it, and if you picked the batter off, underneath the chicken was completely bland. It was just shockingly bad. I wonder, has the owner tasted the chicken that they are serving to customers at his restaurant? If not, he definitely should, because Im pretty sure he would not want to eat it. This truly was a zero star meal. We will never come back here.

Good different little dishes, nice staff, fair priced, spot is very chill and has a nice family part outside. Would def. Recommend

A nice place just down the way from the Pearl. Great place to grab a quick bite. They had fresh oysters which is what we were after and we enjoyed them. They had a nice selection of appetizers and an assortment of sandwiches and salads. They had some standard affair, such as burgers, fish and chips and fried catfish (they have their menu on their website). I thought the deviled eggs and lobster roll were good. We will stop in some time in the future for sure.

Service was great, Brittney, the Asst Manager, was on her game. She made some recommendations and she new her Menu/ingredients like a true pro. Food was AMAZING. Fresh lemonade, I love it. The hush puppies are the best Ive ever had. Be ready to spend a little $$ and if your service is as good as what we had, tip generously.

What an outstanding experience. Upon arriving Jarrod greeted us with a very big smile. We sat at the bar and brothers Tony and Chris were just wonderful. The food was outstanding, the beer selection was great but we feel like we made some really good friends too. At one point we talked about the banana pudding across the street and Jarrod actually walked across the street and got it for us and didn’t even charge us. It’s our new local

The oysters are phenomenal and definitely worth the price... The lobster roll was very flavorful and lots of lobster... Clam chowder was not good and I believe overpriced and the lobster bisque was extremely over-salted... Would definitely return for lobster and oysters

It wasnt what I expected and the employees maybe came off a bit sarcastic. The food is great. But its very expensive. Especially for what it is. Drinks are up there. Maybe I went at a bad time or maybe not but it just didnt appeal to me personally. Some servers looked like maybe they were in recovery or had a problem one of the two. And tons of employees would come out from the back talking obnoxiously. Anyways the fish tacos are good I cant say that they ruined my stomach because it could have been anything I had that day. But its an option. Ill still return one day. Hopefully itll be a better experience. Honestly I wont be in a rush to go again though.

Yet another awesome concept establishment brought to you by Jason Dady. Located not too far from The Pearl on East Grayson St, this place has an eclectic vibe similar to an oyster shack you might find in Port A or down on South Padre. You really get that island vibe when you are in here despite being right in the middle of the concrete jungle.The inside is kind of small and most of the seating is centered around the bar. They have large open windows, and this is what makes it feel like you are on island time. They also have a large outside patio with plenty of tables to hang out at.You can stop in for a cold brew – they have 8 beers on tap. Or you can stop in for a brew and some really good food. Choose from a crawfish boil, or a catfish fry, homemade deviled eggs (made right in front of you at the bar), and much more.No parking lot that I was able to find but plenty of street parking. You might have to walk a couple of blocks though.The food was good, the beer was cold, but the staff hospitality could have been a bit better. Not that they were rude, but it just seemed like they didn’t care if you were there or not. It was kind of like interacting with employees at a McDonalds.

I can respect the California/beachside feel of the restuarant. With that being said, I was starving by the time we arrived. (Thats the true tragedy.The menu is small. Which is understandable, once you get into the actual vibe of the restaurant. This is an excellent place to grab a drink, eat some oysters or crawfish.... and relax. Not the place to go if your famished. Good for a nightcap or a kickback.

Relaxed atmosphere serves fish and shellfish with an ample selection of wine, beer, and spirits. Bring the kids, the playground is collocated with the spacious outdoor seating so you can sip and supervise (or let them self-regulate, I wont judge). Great for groups, ladies night (bring your own bunco), families, and casual encounter dates...just remember that while parking is limited, Uber is not.

The shack part is definitely accurate. They were understaffed on a Saturday evening, not sure if its always like that. We were seated inside, not at the bar, yet the bartender was forced to be our server. This is completely unfair to her, and other staff helped as they could but we were not a priority for them. Food was not bad, however definitely on higher end of the price point for what you get.Id say, go with low expectations and you should be fine!

Delicious and flavorful. The sauces that come with the oysters were fantastic! The half lobster roll is the size of an average portion for one. We also had the ahi tuna poke, fresh tuna and the peppering/chili flakes definitely had a kick!

This place is awesome! Very cozy. The staff is very friendly and polite. The waitstaff was precise and informative. The food was delicious. My fried pickle appetizer was great. The batter was to die for. The oysters were pearle perfect. The horseradish had the best burn of all the shacks! Inside and outside dining. Full bar. Great place!

Just recently held an event here for my organization, the staff were super accommodating when the weather turned on us, and could not have been a nicer or more professional group of folks!All of the oysters Ive tried there this far have been some of the freshest Ive had in the entire state! They also make a mean michelada to boot!Jared and Liza and everyone on the amazing team at Shuck Shack will not disappoint!

Its a place you want to love. Fantastic food and drinks, cool atmosphere. Service was a joke however and prices are a bit high for what you get.$40 lobster roll pictured.

Excellent food and service. Everything was fresh and melt in your mouth tasty. Server was knowledgeable, attentive and very polite. Pretty expensive though. Understandable, but expect to pay $40 for 1 lobster roll. Very small indoor eating area so I would reccommend nice weather when visiting.

Pretty expensive, but worth it. Im not even a huge raw fan, but everything about this little shack is great.Very laid back atmosphere. Cool dock/ boat house feel and decor. We ordered the white cheddar jalapeno hush pups and 6 raw oysters to start. The oysters came out quickly and the servers suggestion was delicious. Hush puppies soon followed and were fresh, flavorful, and rich but not greasy.Also got the lobster bisque and ban mhi fish tacos. Lobster Bisque was heavenly, and fish tacos were some of the best Ive ever had.Portions arent huge, but this place has real character. Highly recommend

Oyster happy hour all day on Sundays and during their regular happy hours during the week. This includes beer and cocktail socials as well. Gulf oysters were a bit small but still super tasty! Service a tad slow but not a big deal. Still, all in all good experience.

loved everything about this place from the food to the waitress to rhe seating! Yrs it was a bit pricey bit if you arent paying a higher price for oysters and lobster you probably should be concerned.

Great spot for happy hour drinks and oysters too.. sat at the bar and got greeted and handed the H.H MENU right away. I didnt realize but theres a playground for the kids walking out.I will be visiting this place very soon

Great atmosphere especially outside when the weather is nice. Slightly confusing if you seat yourself or wait to be seated. We were greeted right away. My husband and I ordered crawfish and lobster roll. It was so good. Definitely going back to try more on menu.

This place has great (relaxedatmosphere and quality food, but the service and prices were unpleasant. The menu has a lot of great selections for small bites and obviously a great selection of oysters. My family and I were trying to figure out how to have an affordable meal while still enjoying oysters. I asked our server if he could explain how people normally order in order to have oysters and be full when we leave. I asked him the question 3 times and he still did not answer my question, but rather explained to me HOW to order oysters.We left the restaurant having ordered 4 Micheladas ($5 each), an order of hush puppies, 24 oysters ($2.75 eachand 2 fish tacos all for $115 not including tip. I understand that seafood is expensive and had been expecting our meal to be on the pricey, but not that expensive. The thing that bothered me most was the portions were very small (even the beers- they couldnt have been more than 10-12oz).I hope they figure something out with the prices and their service, I really liked the restaurant other than the prices and our server.

Went here on a Saturday night with my wife and another couple. We were really looking forward to eating here but will not be coming back. It wasnt especially busy so we expected good service. It took 15 minutes to get our canned, domestic beers. Following that, each of our orders came out 10-15 minutes apart... The first was a salad, missing the shrimp that had been ordered. The fish and chips came out alright. Then my wifes lobster bisque arrived which she described as a "solid mediocre at best." Finally, my lobster roll was delivered to another table by my own waiter, who didnt apologize for the mistake and then took another 20 minutes to get a new one out. Everyone had been done eating for quite some time by the time my food arrived; this after they had each eaten at different times so their food didnt get cold. Had things come out together and on time, it MIGHT have been worth the price, if only for the good company and nice weather. I understand that things happen, but when they arent acknowledged and no attempt is made to set things right, it is unacceptable and disappointing.

Oysters were fresh and well shucked. Good atmosphere/decor/music.Hush Puppies were fried to an over thick crust.Lobster in roll was over cooked and tough. Dressing lacked flavor. Fries were frozen not fresh. Wine was a small pour in a plastic glass.For the reputation and price I expected more..
