Compact mountainside temple featuring a golden Vishnu statue, bronze images & 108 stone faucets.
Very nice Hindu & Buddha temple dedicated to Sri Vishnu & Buddha. The temple is very awesome & Beautiful. The sight seeing from this place is very picturesque & Beatiful. But I dont understand why Govt has not taken steps to construct Best road from Pokhra to this place? It takes full 12 hours for this yatra from pokhra. Worst roads I have ever seen.
Best of the best place that i have ever enjoy the tour at Muktinath Temple Mustang. The natural beauty while heading towards temple is mind blowing.(मन लोभ्याउने दृश्य )
An experience of a lifetime! Lord muktinath is the 106th Divyadesham. the deity here is a shaligram covered with a bronze shell of lord muktinath with four arms in padmasana. buddist monk manages the temple here.In front of the temple are the papa kunda and punya kunda and behind the temple is the 108 water spouts or sahasradhara. It is customary to take bath in the 108 water spouts and then in the both kundas and again complete the bath in 108 water spouts. waters are freezing and knocks your head like a hammer! :)Carry light with clothes for changing! there are changing rooms near the temple!People can come via stretchers called dholi where four people carry you to the hill top from the parking area. One can also use a horse to come to the main entrance of the temple to avoid walking.Alternatively there are helicopters from pokhara to Mukthinath!
It is one of the highest temple of the world. It was memorable memories there. I was gone there with my friends. It was great journey and also hardly but we had gone savely.
Mukthinath temple in Nepal is a famous temple and is difficult to go. We went there through a charter flight from pokharn to Jomsom and then a small bus which is nearly 20 KM. Then we have to walk 2 KM to go to the temple. Horse riding also available.
Blessed to bathe in the holy waters and have a great darshan in gud weather...on our return flight was cancelled and we were stuck in a landslide etc...but to see Him...all was smooth...Om name Narayanaya
Beautiful temple of mustang . Visitors come from all over the world. Mostly from India and Nepal .
Visited in mid September 2022. The journey from Pokhara by road is treacherous, particularly due to unseasonal rains, but the spiritually uplifting experience at the end is worth it. If planning to visit during the wet season, its wise to hire a guide due to the high likelihood of disruptions. Ensure you have sufficient warm clothing and a decent pair of trainers as its a fair walk along a very muddy and slippery path from the parking lot up to the temple once you reach Muktinath. Those with mobility issues can hire horses or stretchers to be carried up. Pick up the pooja pack (250 NRfrom one of the many shops before heading up. For those interested, there are plenty of street hawkers/shops in the main town selling real good quality Shaligram too.
Though temple and its surrounding is good, the road route is highly dangerous and risky. If possible aircraft is good. Worst maintenance of roads and life threatening rock falling areas. Never go in rainy season. You need to travel 80 KM on a risky road.Since it’s full of hills and river side the route is very beautiful. If you can risk your life go on road.I traveled on 11th September by road from Pokhara to Mukthinath. Returned on 12th - travelled on death bed. Never recommend in rainy season.Satya
Name is supposed to be Mukti Narayan..the 108 freezing showers and dips are never to be missed here.
Muktinath is a Vishnu temple, sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists. It is located in Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorong La mountain pass in Mustang, Nepal. It is one of the worlds highest temples (altitude 3,800 m). Within Hinduism, it is one of the 108 Divya Desams, and is the only Divya Desam located outside India. It known as Mukti Kshetra, which literally means the liberation arena (mokshand is one of the Char Dham in Nepal. This temple is considered to be 106th among the available 108 Divya Desam considered sacred by the Sri Vaishnava sect. Its ancient name in Sri Vaishnava literature is Thiru Saligramam. The Gandaki river near by is considered the only source of the Saligram shila, considered to be the naturally available form of Sriman.Buddhists call it Chumig Gyatsa, which in Tibetan means "Hundred Waters". For Tibetan Buddhists, Muktinath is an important place of dakinis, goddesses known as Sky Dancers, and one of the 24 Tantric places. They understand the murti to be a manifestation of Avalokiteśvara, who embodies the compassion of all Buddhas. The site is close to the village of Ranipauwa, which is sometimes mistakenly called Muktinath. The Muktinath Temple is considered to be a Shakti Peetha for a yatra. It is one of the 108 Siddhpeeth and is named Mahadevi [Devibhagwat 7.14]. Shakti Peethas are sacred abodes of Shakti (primordial cosmic energy), formed by the falling body parts of the corpse of Sati Devi, when Lord Shiva carried it as he wandered. 51 Shakti Peethas are revered by Shaktism, connecting them to the 51 alphabets in Sanskrit. Each Shakti Peetha has a Shakti shrine and a Bhairav shrine in its temple. The Shakti of Muktinath is addressed as "Gandaki Chandi", and the Bhairava as "Chakrapani". Sati Devis temple on the forehead is believed to have fallen there. The temple is revered in Nalayira Divya Prabandham, the 7th–9th century Vaishnava canon, by Kulasekhara Alvar in one hymn. The temple is classified as a Divyadesam, one of the 108 Vishnu temples that are mentioned in the book. Many devotees have contributed to it, most prominently the Alvars. Thirumangai Alvar could not reach Muktinath, but sang 10 pashurams from the nearest place, in praise of Lord Sri Murthy. Periy Alvar sang in praise of Sri Murthi as "Salagramamudaiya Nambi".The pontiff of Srivilliputtur (the most venerated Srivaishnava pilgrim centre in Tamil Nadu), Sri Manavala Mamunigal Mutt 23rd peetam Sri Sri Sri Satakopa Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji installed the idols of Andal (Sri Gotha Devi), Ramanuja, and Manavala Mamunigal there during the yagna performed between 3 and 6 August 2009. This is considered by devotees to be a milestone in the history of Muktinath. A large crowd of devotees visit this shrine, where the Lord resides in the form of Sri Paramapatha Nathan with his divine consorts of Sri, Bhoomi, Neela and Gotha Devis.Source: wiki
One of the best temple I have ever visited, its situated at 12500 feet above sea level.I travelled 1500kms solo on a motorcycle to visit this temple from India, and it was totally worth the pains.Only suggestion to the government is to build better roads from Pokhara to Muktinath so more people can visit and see what great and ancient culture, traditions and architecture Hindu religion has to offer.
Beautiful Bhagwan Vishnu’s Temple. Peaceful place. Adventures road especially when you are going on the bike.Excellent bike trip in the lower Mustang region.
Serene spiritual adventurous.. it was just awesome place to visit. The stairs might get a bit tiring if you are not used to the exertion and the altitude might make you breath heavy. Kids get sick at that altitude.Nevertheless a awesome place to visit.
This is heaven 😍 nature as its providing amazing view I recommend if u wanna enjoy cite seeing u have to go by offroad for stunning n surreal experience only by mini bus and Scorpio jeep will climb up
The temple is incredibly beautiful and the glacial water from 108 mukh is worth coming here. Try to make it during aarti time (7am or 6:30pm).I was lucky to see evening aarti and majestic Dhaulagiri peak while returning from stairs
Lovely Place with Natural Scenaries and Holy River Gandaki is also flows.Every Hindu has to visit this Holy Shrine in Nepal.
There is a belief that who reaches Muktinath has all sins washed and gets released from the cycle of birth and rebirth.Lots of people come here to pay homage to the ancestors and pray for their eternal peace. Pitri Pooja is done in Kagbeni and prayers are done in Muktinath.Be Careful on the steep steps towards the Temple as you gain altitude rapidly and you can get altitude sickness. Take long breath after every 10- 15 steps.May God bless us all.
It was an amazing experience visiting shree muktinath! You can reach the temple by horses, or by bikes if you have or by foot even as many people do! 108 taps and the kund for bathing will just take away all the exertion you would have to reach there
Very nice hindu place to visit once in our life time
Muktinath temple is a very famous religious site among the Hindus and the Buddhists. It is located at 3780m above the sea level. It is also a very famous tourist attraction place. One can view Mt. Dhaulagiri range and Nilgiri from here. There are 108 water spouts around the temple and two small ponds before the temple. The hindus worship Lord vishnu while visiting this temple where as the Buddhists worship Avalokeshwor while visiting here. So it helps to maintain the religious harmony in Nepal.
MuktiNath temple is situated at Mustang district under Gandaki province. The altitude of this place is almost 3800 meters from sea level. This place is a holy place for Hindu and Buddhists. Most people come from India and people youth. People believed that their wishes will be fulfilled after visiting this place. The place is also naturally beautiful. The road facility also connected up to the temple.
This is a revered temple of Sri Maha Vishnu also one of the 108 divya desams of Vaishnava sampradaya called Saligramam. This temple site is also part of Buddist culture. So, many Buddhists arrive here. Located in the Annapurna Range of Himalayas amongst snow peaked mountains of Mustang valley. This is a place of Mukti (Salvation). Journey is Ardeous , weather is unpredictable but its the place is magical and mythical and views travelling to this place are spectacular
The scenic views of the Himalayas from the temple are breathtaking.Mukti means salvation, moksh. There is a belief that who reaches Muktinath gets released from the cycle of birth and rebirth. The shrine is considered to be one of the eight sacred places known as Svayam Vyakta Ksetras. The other seven being Srirangam, Srimushnam, Tirupati, Naimisharanya, Totadri, Pushkar and Badrinath. One life, one time, visit Muktinath, take a shower under 108 Muktidhara and dipp in the Muktikunda, at freezing temparature. It’s said that all sorrows & miseries are alleviated once you pay a trip to the Muktinath Temple. But Lord Vishnu wont let you see him so easily. I have crossed some deadliest roads in my life. At some places there is no such thing as road, only mud, rocks and sludge. Loose rocks is falling from above hill. Vehicles giving up on the steep slope. World deepest river gorge after road, Kali Gandaki river is flowing 100 feet below. Roads are narrow at few places. In order to pass the vehicles coming from the opposite direction, the car is going so far at the edge that the small stones from under the wheels are being rolled into the river. Road gets worst from Galeshwor to Ghasa. However, once you reach Ghasa, good roads are there. Not everyone gets a chance to visit but everyone should visit here. Peace is here, nature is here, god is here.
Is veery nice very good place everything is beautiful one time on life visit ihis place
Dates back to pre apocalypse, When the entire region was (Tethys Ocean), proven by archeologists and researches. The fossils (Shaligrams), landscapes, water level marks in rocks and hills narrates the ocean of once upon a time. In the top of that then ocean, where every components of creation meet alike, in the depth of the heights is this shrine Muktinath and a holy pilgrimage Kagbeni. God is very different from the forms and features we all are told, brainwashed and explained, this is a form of power and nature and Muktinath is one such places of god. Cited in different Puranas, sanatan scripture and its importance in the vernaculars of people across the globe, this place have been a yogic practice venue to many Sages and scholars from the very beginning. Mukti means Salvation, the salvation from ignorant or a little bit of knowhow to a complete comprehensive consciousness is the real salvation. Equally important for "Shradas" Homage to ancestors, Mustang Muktinath is peaceful, spiritual and a meaningful place to be. Besides river Budiganga and above Thak khola, Muktinath is a lord to every religion and no religion at the same time.
Jai MUKTINATH.Best religious place in nepal. Pokhra to MUKTINATH rout is next level adventure rout. We are enjoyed to ride this rout.
Nice temple and great scenery. The main concern is very low temperature
To visit the highest temple in the world (3800mis a 360km mountain ride (like literally no road throughoutfrom Pokhara. With or without snow the greater Himalayas are a visual treat any day. At the temple, the oxygen levels drop a bit which will lead to a bit of uneasiness and dizziness.Vehicle parking is located a couple of kilometers away from the temple. One could ferry a pony to reach. There are small hotels and stalls to buy food and drinking water. But the prices go up dramatically (100 INR per 1litre of waterduring peak tourist season.Try to start very early in the morning from Jomsom to witness the stunning view of rising sun turning the Himalayas into golden rocks. They started laying a bitumen road and soon the adventurous 360km ride is gonna be super smooth. So you gotta rush if you dont wanna miss what could be an adventure of lifetime. Avoid traveling during rains. Chances to get stuck midway are very high during rains.
It was amazing experience to be here. You should visit here once in life time.
This site is called Mukti Kshetra, which means the "place of salvation" and it is one of the most ancient temples of the God Vishnu and the Vaishnava tradition in Nepal. The temple is small and contains a human-sized golden statue of Vishnu as Shri Mukti Narayana. In addition to Mukti Narayana, the temple has bronze images of Bhoodevi There is an old Buddhist monk present in the temple and worship is conducted by Buddhist nuns. This pleace is really beautiful and holly
One of the 4 and 108 Hindu pilgrimage/darshan must take for one and all Hindu Vaishnav..At 13000 feet altitude one need to take care of thin air/low oxygen levels, low temperature, high wind and occasional rai ns
Having a shower under Muktidhara (108 spoutsand dipping in the Muktikunda, at -2 degrees awesome experience .....
Roads are very muddy and narrow and filled with rocks. Very difficult to travel.
Serene place. Ponds are not maintained well but clean water available through 108 taps. Blissful diety.
Very beautiful place. The climate is cold so better take warm clothes and headgears. Very peaceful and healthy environment. Really worth the difficult and tiresome journey.
great place to visit haryana to muktinath dham cycle ride
I drove from Pokhara to Muktinath via Jomsom. Stayed in Jomsom at one of the lodge. Road was still under construction. I had to apply four-wheel gears few times. Road from Kagbeni was asphalted & good. After parking below temple, had to walk about an hour through the bazar to reach temple. I hired a horse for my mother to take her to the gate. Peoples were taking sacred bath on 108 taps running cold but refreshing water. Some even dipped in on small two ponds in front of temple. Sacred temple with beautiful idol of lord Vishnu for Hindus & Buddha for Buddhist at an altitude of 3800 meters; one of the holiest temples of Nepal. A blue flame was burning constantly at one cave like place, probably the natural gas. Scene from the temple down below & around looked great.
Popular destinations for Hindu pilgrims but others need to visit this temple and see landscape view from this site

This place and journey to it is just... wow!! Beyond words and description. The temple is located at Himalayan Range and almost half of the year you can experience snow fall/views here.Basically, this place is most popular Hindu religious pilgrim. Almost as popular as Pashupatinath and other Indian temples. It takes at least 3 days to go from and return to Pokhara. Via road trip is recommended to experience the beauty of nature and Nepali mountainous + himalayan culture. This place is not only sacred religious but also unique tourist place and tracking destination.Try your self!! #MostVisit ❤🇳🇵
In and near Nepal 🇳🇵 Himalayas , an adventure and risk journey , air bus, local taxis, dolls and walking and minus degree weather but belief is more than risk and life, I like.
Beautiful temple and very popular, fun to see people walking through the fountains, bathrooms were very dirty, though.
Most visited hindu temple in Nepal 😍 i visited here in January 2022, when i m doing India to Nepal Cycle Ride 🚴♂️🚴♂️ Muktinath temple 96 km from Beni and approx 95 km beni from pokhara 🚴♂️🚴♂️

The place is immaculately maintained. You must plan your visit in the morning to enjoy some local cafes and shops after the temple visit. The scenic views of the Himalayas from the temple are exquisite.
Most popular hindu temple at the highest altitude in Nepal. The temple is mostly crowded with worshipers from far away even from India. The temple is well maintained and kept clean. Most people often do ritual bath from 108 natural tap water which is icy cold all the time. Photography is restricted inside the temple itself. The surrounding close Himalayas makes the temple even more beautiful. Have to climb stairs for around 10 mins to reach the temple from parking.
It’s a nice place where we can have the blessings of the holy Vishnu Bhagwan. Options to reach there are -1. Kathmandu to Jomsom through flight and then by walk.2. By road from Kathmandu.3. Chopper from Kathmandu to Jomsom or Muktinath helipad which is quite costlier.
The temple is clean and not too crowded. On a clear day, the view is breathtaking! The way to the temple is very muddy when it rains so be careful and I highly recommend wearing warm and comfortable shoes and clothes. We went there the week before and the entire journey was a wild ride. The roads were terrible, stones were falling from the hill tops, the vehicles were giving up on slopes and were overheating on the way up, the roads were so destroyed that seeing buses take a turn would give you a heart attack. As you look down the edge, you can see the mighty Kaligandaki gorge (deepest in the worldwaiting to take it all in. Hands down one of the deadliest roads I have ever travelled. The road or whatever is left of the road gets worst from Galeshwor to Ghasa. However, once you reach Ghasa, the scene is entirely different. Beautiful roads, beautiful scenery.I would say this is one of my most memorable trip and someone has said it right, difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.
Muktinath DarshanMuktinath is a beautiful sacred place dedicated to lord Muktinath(Vishnulocated in Muktinath Valley at an altitude of 3,710 meters at the foot of theThorong La mountain pass (Himalayasin Mustang,Nepal. It is 210 kms from Nepal 🇳🇵 and Very difficult to reach as road condition is not so good.
