Around-the-clock coffeehouse with open-mike/poetry nights, vegan eats, pastries & sandwiches.
This is an incredible underrated spot. There is nowhere better for authentic tea service. The food is great (one of the best brunch in town). And if you must have bubble tea, there isnt any place better in town.
The food and tea were great - once it arrived. Took over 20 minutes for someone to take our order and over 30 minutes to get the food. It wasn’t busy and there were plenty of people working. I get it that there is a shortage of workers but that wasn’t the case here.
This really pains me to do - I used to love this place and frequented them multiple times a week. It was a 5-star location for me. Now its not quite that. With their current hours, it is now nearly impossible for me to go with my 9-5 job. When I am able to go, they close early or they are out of almost everything I order. When I arrange delivery, they are again out of ingredients, and I must cancel my order. Its hard for me to give a positive review to a place I can no longer even get an order from about 2/3s of the time I place one.
The food and tea are amazing. All of the workers are so nice. It would be 5 stars but the waiter can be a bit slow. We usually have to flag them down if we need anything.
Not sure if this was the owner but went out of their way to greet guests, make recommendations, and help with orders. Was even telling other staff how to help guests. Would go back in a heart beat. Such a pleasant ambiance to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon ❤️
Greetings everyone, this is a wonderful tea shop I have enjoyed for awhile. The service has always been wonderful and quick. The valley peach oolong, mango green chai and fresh fruit summer blend are wonderful to sip and enjoy the aromatic aroma and environment. The brunch menu is splendid and must come back when I am not restricting my consumption, to enjoy a good bit to eat with my creamy mango green chai. The roasted red pepper hummus and veggies is splendid.Enjoy everyone, thank you to the owner for making this place possible! Menu posted 9.25.2, it also must be noted everyone, the DOOR LOCKS BY ACCIDENT easily so they may not actually be closed!Id like to suggest to the owner and anyone else out there they they aquire teas that contain: Guarana, Yerba Mate, Gymnema Sylvestre and Rhodiola Rosea Root. I believe these will be a great health addition to the menu!Thank you to the owner and staff for this wonderful place.
Stopped in for bubble tea. We sat while we waited. Nice cozy atmosphere and very friendly staff. Planning to return to try the food.
Used to be one of the better brunch/tea hybrid in Columbus. Huge disappointment on their revamped menu and service: menu was a random mix of a few non-authentic global components, food took forever to arrive, server did not pay attention and the price was way too high for the steeet-level food you get.
Very calm atmosphere. A worker there (older black manwas super professional & sweet. Dudes a g. Amazing tea.
What an incredible tea selection!! I could have spent hours just ordering different tea services but I felt a little bad since it got quite crowded by the time I finished my first pot. I dont think you can go wrong with any of the teas they have and you can always ask the helpful staff for a recommendation if youre lost!
I adore this place. My husband and I visited this afternoon and had a fantastic lunch date. Our server, Austin, was friendly, funny, and attentive. I ordered a hot coconut chai that was absolutely perfect. My husband got a the Kyoto Cherry Blossom tea, and while it was a little perfume-y smelling for me, he really enjoyed it as well. Our food was fresh and delicious. The only downside might be that its a little slow if youre wanting to grab a quick bite, but everything was well worth the wait. Great experience!
The food was outstanding and exactly what we were looking for. Our tea ambassador was also very helpful and kind. I did get the sense that they were slightly understaffed, but thats every place right now.
Good service. Relaxed atmosphere in the gallery district. Very affordable for a date or hangout. Great selection of teas, obviously. Want to buy stuff from Teavanna but wanna spend all that dough on a tea you may not like? Try a similar tea here first for less than 10$ a pot.
I’ve gone to Zencha for about a decade. I used to recommend it to everyone and would frequently haul my friends along with me when I went. However, Zencha has gone down hill to the point that I just can’t recommend it anymore. The past few times I’ve been, there has been some new way in which inconsistent or awful service was provided. It’s sort of a grab bag; you never know what it’ll be.How about being closed on random days or closing early? Zencha has that covered.Kitchen closed on a random day? Zencha can check that off too.If you’re interested in driving to the Short North, paying for parking, and then going inside to find out the dining room is closed, that’s one more way in which Zencha is willing to accommodate you.If you’re going to go, I’d advise calling ahead to see if there are any strange quirks for the day.Anyway, I hope the restaurant changes for the better. Today was my last visit for the foreseeable future. I’m tired of having my time wasted.I may visit the Bexley location to see if that shakes out any better.
Amazing! That is all! A must visit! What a great find! My pancakes were so good! I also had some sort of apple flavored tea that was delicious and healthy! Thank you guys!
The chai waffles were amazing!! Caramelized bananas! Yummy!!
My daughter was looking for boba for her and her friends. They not only loved the boba, but the food was amazing!! I had Perfectly poached eggs, and spicy hollandaise sauce with my avocado toast. My daughter got waffles, and her friend had dumplings for breakfast. Hands down, my new favorite restaurant.
I love getting their Masala Toast!! Its so yummy 😋 😍
Absolutely wonderful. The tea was beautiful and the food was delicious. Very unique menu. So happy with the friendly service.
I have been a regular here for years. This place is beautiful! I always get the fresh fruit summer blend iced with black tea. Try it and you will fall in love. The brunch is to die for. Try the chai waffles! I will never stop coming here. Dan and Austin are amazing!! They are so hospitable. There is also a girl there who makes amazing tea as well!
The tea is good, the atmosphere is cute and I like this restaurant but every time I have ordered boba the service is so slow. I order ahead for a pickup and they never start making the tea until I arrive, and even then it takes an additional 20 minutes. I want to come here more but not when the service is this slow.
Cant believe some of these reviews. This may be the best restaurant in the Columbus metro area. Just fantastic. All of the food is immaculate and so well done. I had the salmon, and it was the best salmon I have had in years (I just was in Alaska this summer for reference). The tea, however, is the star here. Just incredible. The Kyoto Cherry Blossom tea had multiple distinct flavors that melded together to create a refreshing and calming whole.Just an incredible place. Plan to spend around 2 hours here and have a very relaxing lunch or dinner.
the tea team member who served our brunch was delightful, they were kind and took care to make notes on my allergies, they provided wonderful feedback on the large variety of teas and prepared excellent foods.
Food, atmosphere and tea are all amazing! I would rate 5 stars but the service was very slow. We had to ask for the check, To go boxes and cups multiple times. If it were just the food and tea I would give this place 10 stars!
A variety of international tea options and flavor profiles to choose from. Excellent for just picking up or dining in. I’d definitely recommend it to a tea enthusiast due to the variety and quality of the tea. The staff is quick, great and ready to offer suggestions if you are overwhelmed by the tea variety.
As an out of town-er who has made it her mission to try as many different food places in Columbus as possible within my four day visit.Zen Cha Tea Salon hands down has the best breakfast in Columbus. It was music to my tastebuds with every bite. My table had ordered an omelette, the peach French toast, and I ordered the full service vanilla chai and the Arabian night waffles which were to die for! I must say these were the best waffles I’ve ever had and boy oh boy the turkey bacon was delicious. The asethics weren’t Instagram worthy but the food sure was!!!Service was 6/10 but I’m going to add an extra point after it was explained they were experiencing a major under staff issue. The food made up for the whole experience and I would recommend giving them a try if you are in the area.
ZenCha is one of my favorite places in the world. It’s very relaxed. It can take a while to get food but they have amazing brunch options and their tea list is amazingly huge. The whole place is a very calm atmosphere so if you’re in a rush I wouldn’t come in. It’s a good place to sit and chat with friends over some tea!
Food amazing service alright. Very slow, the process of getting the check, a tea to go and a to go box took over an hour. Older woman behind counter flat ignored my friend when she asked for a to go box after 45 mins of waiting for one. customer service brought the rating down. If I was rating food alone 5 stars for sure.
This place is FABULOUS!!!! I would recommend all of their fruit teas. Their chicken dumplings, earl grey sandwich, chicken and rice soup, salmon and rice mini French toast are all amazing foods to try. This is a great place to have a nice relaxing enjoyable time I definitely recommend coming here. It may take a little while to get the food BUT THE WAIT IS WORTH IT. My mom and I are obsessed! This is very authentic food, clean well spaced restaurant that deserves 20 stars!! This place is great Everything they have to offer is an explosion of flavor!!
If you havent stopped into one of the few remaining staples of the Short North, ensure that you make the time. Under new ownership, within the past few years, ZenCha has continued to provide locals a chill place for brunch, dinner, or a relaxing evening with your favorite hit tea. Remains my choice destination to clear my head after work enjoying a cup of Masala Chi while taking in the views of the Short North.
ZenCha is a place my boyfriend and his best friend visit as often as they can. They provide wonderful tea varieties, there is always something new to try. I love the ambience of the place as well. Their pot-stickers are amazing too! The only down side is with the new parking rules in the Short North, you have to park very far away for free parking or you have to pay to park. This change has harmed many stores in the Short North that my friends and I love so much as well as our pockets when we want to go out in the town. Definitely consider stopping by for a cup of tea and relax as you watch the city move forward.
Didn’t know what to expect when I got there. The tea was great, definitely like they way you can make you cups as you go. The ramen was very good some of the best I’ve had in Columbus by far. Would definitely highly recommend this place to anyone. Also a very wide and amazing selection of tea.
Wonderful tea, friendly service, relaxed atmosphere, and delicious foods! I had the Okonomiyaki, which was a large portion (2 medium-sized pancakesand served hot! Easy to understand how it has become such a popular dish in Japan. My girlfriend had the Earl Grey Pancakes which were rich but surprisingly light.
Horrible experience. The waitress couldnt care less about what you think of the food. All she said was "okay" after we gave our feedback. Owner then came out trying to educate us the shrimp grit was perfectly done while we had the dish full of broth that was no where to be found in the menu. The owner also generously gave us 30% off that shrimp grit, after being almost untouched and taken back. We do understand how hard it is for small businesses to survive but we are definitely not coming back. Also, please dont say their bubble tea is spectacular. It is average at best. So many new Asian bubble tea places in Columbus are much better.
What a great tea shop! We loved the tea selection and food menu. I ordered a white tea with the chai waffles, and it did not disappoint! I’m also celiacs, and the menu was really clearly marked with gluten free options.
I only got the tea, but it was a great experience. Clearly very high quality and you could brew it several times without it losing any flavor. Amazing selection as well. Finally, I loved the selection of brewing equipment hung on the walls. It was fun to see.
One of the best tea places in the US - Hands down!I am really picky about my tea and this place had every kind of tea in the world. I was surprised and happy to be here. Its like a sit-in restaurant but mostly for tea. They have food too, but I went there mainly for the tea.The prices for tea are a little expensive, but believe me they are worth it.I got the Ginger Cardamom tea. It took a while for the tea to come, but I think they were putting extra care in making the tea with all the flavors we needed. The tea was out of the world.I live in Lexington, KY and I wish a similar tea place existed here. I would go here everyday if it were closer to me.
The tuna avocado sandwich is one of the best sandwiches in the city. The selection is magnificent and the prices are extremely competitive.
So many teas to choose from, and so delicious! Everything we had tasted great. The servers were attentive and worked really hard to provide a quality experience.
Cute place to relax and enjoy a great variety of teas, sweet treats, and some breakfast items. Environment was inviting and relaxing. I will be back!
I shared a very pleasant afternoon gathering earlier today [2-6-2019] with several of my friends at ZenCha Tea Salon. The others in my party had ordered various teas and other similar beverages from a large and complicated menu; I am certain that they had enjoyed their selections.Having eaten a large meal recently, I decided to order a cup of peppermint tea, just plain peppermint tea with nothing added. My server initially suggested that I might like Raspberry Mint tea but I had noticed that that tea contains raspberry leaves so I had said no.I ended up ordering what I had assumed would be just plain peppermint tea. A cute little teapot and a cup were brought to my table; I enjoyed my plain peppermint tea during an extended conversation with my friends. But when I received my bill, I was astonished to learn that I was being charged for Peppermint Latte and that the total bill for my cup of plain peppermint tea had been $6.18.During an extended conversation with the manager, I had repeatedly insisted that I had not ordered Peppermint Latte and the manager had repeatedly insisted that Peppermint Latte is Peppermint Latte whether or not it contains milk and that the price could not be adjusted for any variations from the official "Peppermint Latte" recipe. We never came to any agreement on the matter but the manager eventually relented and offered me a 20% discount; therefore, my total cost for a cup of peppermint tea was reduced from $6.18 to $4.95.I do remember being asked, when ordering my cup of plain peppermint tea, if I "like milk"; that question that had seemed irrelevant when ordering plain peppermint tea but I now realize that that question had been absolutely relevant.I will be far more scrupulous the next time I order a cup of peppermint tea.
Amazing experience. Teas from all over the world delivered in a very delightful way. Great friendly and timely service. The tea cookies were excellent and the African teas reminded me of home. Would highly recommend.
EDIT: it’s our second time here. However it takes them 30 minutes to get the food ready. Any service requests cannot be addressed promptly. (it takes them several minutes to come here to take orders, another several minutes to check out). It’s not a place for a quick lunch during weekdays. If the owner of this place is looking at this comment, I highly recommend you to hire more staff during lunch time. 2 people is far less than enough and the speed of service is driving customers away.Ramen is unique and great. English breakfast tea tastes good and authentic.
Love the tea lattes here. Wonderful selection. Im also in love with their pancakes they serve for brunch. Also, the creme brulee is wonderful.Service is a bit slow when theyre busy and the tea does take while to come out. Additionally a bit pricier than what most people would expend on tea, but its a wonderful treat and well-worth the price that you pay.
Had a great experience at ZenCha! Ate lunch around 2pm one day. There was only one waitress working when I went and about 7 tables, so it was a little busy with slower service. I had time to spare, so I didnt mind, but that could be a downside for others. The tea was great! I had cardamom mint and my friend had a lavender latte. Both were very flavorful and the perfect sweetness. I had the apple brie sandwich, which was a little sweet, but the bread was crisp and the sandwich was hot. My friend had the hummus sandwich which she liked a lot. We split an order of samosas which were the perfect amount of spicy. Overall, would recommend if you have a little time and love tea.
Just visited there for Valentines Day with a date. This was my first time at any type of Tea establishment, and I have to say I was extremely impressed. I wasnt sure what to get so I had our waitress get me her favourite, which was the Safari latte. It was fantastic!! I was a little nervous with it being a creamier tea, but it was absolutely delicious. The entire staff was very polite and helpful. As far as prices go, they actually arent too bad. It was only 9 bucks for two and we got a decent amount of tea. Ill definitely be returning again and I may even end up becoming a frequent customer! Great job Zencha Tea Salon! Keep it up!
One of the best places and my go-to spot every time Im in Cbus! All of the food is fantastic and the tea menu is huge -- a number of teas from all over the world -- I havent had a tea or food item I didnt like. Friendly staff although they can sometimes be very slow despite not being that busy. For a while, in terms of tea I only liked bubble tea. This is definitely the place to get it!! Great flavor and very fresh bubbles every time.Only complaint is that they took the quiche off the menu. It was my favorite dish and very filling; I miss it.
Tea is always good, food is always really good (especially the weekend brunch, I get all my friends to go and they always want to go back!). Service is friendly, and the servers seem to know their stuff. Docked a star because service can be slow, and one server in particular always seems to take at least 30 minutes after Ive asked for the check to get it to me. Ive started going up to the counter to pay whenever shes my server. An excellent place to go if you have work or reading you want to get done!
Very nice and relaxing upscale tea experience. I had a Chai Tea, it was amazing.
So if the tea were served at anywhere but a tea specialty place, it would have been less problematic, but my tea was cold. I went there with a few friends and we ordered tea cookies. We asked the waitress to bring us an assortment (which she assured us there wasso we could share, but we all got the she two cookies. The tea itself was pretty decent, but the atmosphere was kind of boring and the cookies and sandwich I had were pretty standard.
