ShopRite of Montague in Vernon

I want to pick up a "Shop from Home order" Only to be told were runner two to three hours behind. I showed up on the late side of the pick up window 3-4 I got there at 3:45. It wouldnt be ready until 7:00....maybe an off day. Shoprite is usually WAY better at giving more accurate times so the customers expectations fall in line with what can be delivered. (Accurate pick up times)

This was my first time being there, and was very pleased. I was so impressed that I will go to this ShopRite more than my local ShopRite in Middletown. I like the lighting is very bright. Thanks you

Im a little sad that Shoprite is leaving the Montague plaza because it has been there since I was a child and before than. But Im also excited to see what the Bigger Shoprite will be like in Westfall, PA.

4 stars, Parking is always ... difficult!Prices can be a bit high when their not on sale...However, they have a great selection of food, including a great variety of special dietary foods,ie: gluten free, Salads, Specialty etc...Meat & Produce always appears fresh, dry goods and frozen foods usually are full and displayed neatly...Usually they have what Im looking for... unless out of stock, on occasion, however, some of the staff can be really helpful, others not so much!Wait time can be between 5 and 15 minutes depending how busy they are! If I only have a few items the courtesy counter and front registers are usually in and out!!! Love the sale items and they accept coupons!I look forward to the larger Store Opening in Matamoras Soon and intend to visit for most of my grocery needs!

Clearly older from the outside, but you wouldnt be able to tell from the brightly lit, well stocked inside. Food is very well displayed throughout the store, and there are plenty of helpful discounts and special deals. Every employee we encountered was friendly and helpful, especially our cashier, Eliana. She had plenty of people in line, but treated everyone with efficiency, patience, and kindness.

Employees are always so helpful. Store always looks presentable. Interested to see what the new location will be like. Hopefully with the same friendly employees.

Average selection of available products. Customer service was nonexistent except for the courteous & personable cashier, Grenny, who rang up my groceries.

Great store! Could use updating maybe, but there is another store opening soon a couple Mikes away. Good. This place gets crowded! Maybe after that is done they will renovate this one. Staff are all always helpful.

Nice employees and they have bags you can by for a food pantry. Nice touch. Store only one around in this area and not their fault the mall is a disaster. Parking lot needs a lot of work. Sorry they are moving but understandable. What slum Lord owns this property and why doesnt the township have laws about beautification? Will miss this store leaving NJ and going to PA. Now Ill have to add 10 more minutes to my quick run to the market.

The people at ShopRite in Montague and truly the best. The pharmacy staff are the kindness. I had to changed from Walgreens to ShopRite and I am so glad I did thank you !!..... .when you walk in if you need any help any of the staff are willing to help you, Even if they are going on break they still help you and when you check out they ask you? did you find what you were looking for? .or If you need help to your car! . Even the manager are always working and are so welcoming ....bathroom are always clean!!!.and the cart always placed back and the electric cart always are return to charge those guys are so kind And I never seen any staff smoking in the front this store really treat the consumer with kindness . Thanks everyone for all your smile especially during theses hard times

Updated 2021: whilst I think they are “returning to normal” a bit fast I have to say they are really starting to stock a lot more new and varied items lately and food you might only expect to find in the city. This is good, and I think this shows Shoprite responding to a diversifying and more sophisticated clientele.Everything you expect from a big grocery store. Plenty of parking too.

. I have been shopping at the Montague Shoprite for 5 years. Before that I was a loyal customer of the Springfield Shoprite in NJ where I used to live.I have to put this simply...the Montague Shoprite is a rip off. The prices are jacked up 50-100% of what they should be This has nothing to do with inflation and everything to do with price gouging. I realized how stratospheric its prices were when I went next door to TJ Max and bought a bag of Avocado Oil chips for $2.49 and found that the identical bag in Shoprite was $3.49. I was recently at Aldi in Middleton (where I now do most of my shoppingand found that fresh cilantro was only .75 a bunch as opposed to Shoprite where a wilted bunch i $1.49! Canned beans are 45 cents a opposed to over a dollar at Shoprite. My favorite sparkling frost drinks are .50 as opposed to $1.00 at SR. This really adds up.The other thing that really bugs me about the Montague Shoprite is that their fruits and vegetables are not only over priced but NOT FRESH. Apples in bags or totes are frequently pulpy. Baby cucumbers grow slime after a few days in the fridge...and the list goes on.I am sick of the checkout people telling me how much Ive saved. I usually answer...."Oh Yeah, but was ripped off for much more!"

To the employees still working there, how are you still alive? Shoprites responses to the pandemic have been questionable at best.My 5 former coworkers and I have suggested giving Cashiers chairs to prevent fatigue and provide distance to the products they scan, no response.When we worked there we werent allowed to drink water at our cash register, you know, the substance humans are over 85 percent made of.I emailed a suggestion, to provide employees a place to wash their uniforms and keep them at work to help stop the spread, no response. Maybe help provide their employees some healthy food and water, no response.These stores effect my home town and local students and childrenLast year Shoprite lost an owner to Covid and their response has been nothing at best.If caring is your business, Id hate to see what not caring is.

Terrible produce. Frequently old, dried out products. One time what was left of the red onions was moldy. Once there was roach in the wrapping of the deli product. I saw it when I got home. It was the fresh sliced so I dont know how they didnt see it. I reported it to deli manager.

Stock levels are good but prices are high at this store relative to stores in other parts of NJ. Deli is the worst run department. There can be 5 people behind the counter ignoring you.

Clean, organized, well stocked for the most part except for the meat dept. Friendly and respectful cashiers. Good deli and bakery dept, I personally find this location to be a bit pricey though. I shop in the evening and there is usually never a wait in line.

Very clean and bright. All the produce was fresh and not rotten. Cakes were stocked. Good amount of lanes open at the time day I went.

Yesterday, 10/18/2020. My fiancé and I visited this store to purchase some items, and we noticed that the seafood section had catfish nuggets. We were so excited because we haven’t had catfish nuggets in a while and we really enjoy them. There was nobody at the seafood counter; we waited for a while. Finally I went to the butcher section and I noticed that the butcher was not wearing a mask, and had no gloves on. He was cutting a prepping meat with his bare hands. I asked him if there was anybody to help us with the seafood, he said somebody will be over shortly. After no one came for about five or 10 minutes, he said he would help us. Again, he had no mask or gloves on. I asked if he could please put on a mask and he said no because he’s wearing a face shield. Face shields are not replacements for masks. Face shields are extra protection that you wear in addition to masks. We are currently in the mist of a pandemic and for him to refuse to wear a mask is, unsanitary, unsafe and completely unacceptable. I am perplexed by his refusal to wear a mask. Please be careful when buying any store prepped meats!

I found everything I wanted to buy.I took advantage of their Wednesday$5 Sushi Special for first time and it was good. Very long line to checkout that went amazingly quick. Shoprite is my favorite grocery store.

This store was one of the best when the virus started as far as everyone wearing mask and keeping a safe distance, Was ! today I walked into the produce where an eployee ( long hair in a pony tail )was talking to a customer. no in a customers face mask down. It didnt get much better. Matter of fact costumers were doing a much better job at mask wearing then the help. Come on shoprite !

Sales are great. If you get the circular delivered you can get extra coupons. Also sign up online for digital coupons available with their savings card. Nice little shopping center with a dollar store a pizza place with great nyc pizza a liquor store and TJ M.

ShopRite in Montague is the only ShopRite I will shop at!! This store is amazing!! Its always kept extremely clean, organized, the EMPLOYEES are so sweet and nice. Even when its extremely busy, they manage to get you checked out efficiency and quickly. Highly recommend shopping here. IVE never dreaded going grocery shopping when I know Im going there. I have however absolutely dreaded going shopping at other ShopRites, like the ones in Middletown. If you have the extra time, I highly recommend taking the time to check this one out. Its just very peaceful and relaxing and thats something that is almost impossible to get grocery shopping ANYWHERE!!

I shop here all the time. I must say that they have the best prices around. They are farther than the other supermarkets from where I live but Id rather drive the extra twenty minutes than pay astronomical prices at the other local supermarkets. The place is always clean and the staff is very helpful. I trust the produce there because Ive bought fruits and veggies at other local supermarkets and was very disappointed in their flavor or the fact they never seem to ripen.

Small store, staff is unfriendly. Annoying that they dont have self checkouts. Black Friday had light staff forcing patrons to use the "About 20 Items or less" lanes when they should have used the larger check out. 5 things took me 20 minutes to buy. This is not where I normally shop because it is a small store. Only good for small pick up items.

Our local Shoprite is just great, the service is great and they take special orders of items not in store. Is clean, well lit, well stocked, the produce has improved quite some, as well as the meat department and the seafood counters which carry organic meats and wild caught fish. The organic isle continues to improve as well. The staff is eager to please the customers.

Weekly sales and deals are worth keeping an eye on at this clean store with lots of options. The layout starts you at fresh fruit and vegetables, carries you through dry goods and you end your tour with those cold items so they are in your cart the shortest amount of time.

Having just moved to Milford Pa I use this SR on occasion. I really don’t like it. I’m accustomed to the larger updated stores and cashiers that happily do the job they are hired for. This shop rite has the expectation you are going to bag your own grocery’s. They leave their register grocery belts up so that the grocery’s are sent to the end. When I notify them that I don’t bag they are not pleased. I had a boy that bagged my groceries and put very can in one bag! I couldnt even move it!! Apparently they aren’t trained to bag?

Deli associate had an attitude about having to clean the slicer due to my gluten allergy. Dis not make me feel good. Dont think I will return here. Rest of staff were pleasant.

A week ago I complained to Management about 13 pallets of Poland Springs water thats sitting outside in the blaring Sun in the front apron of the store. Today, a week later, the same pallets are still there and from what I can see they arent selling through them so they sit and roast in the sun day after day. Is it safe to drink now? I dont know but I wouldnt take the chance. Yes, they have an overstock but thats not where they should be storing them. I will never buy water from this store again.

Good selection with good prices. We found some good deals on seafood here. They had a nice man playing some light music over a pa system in the parking lot on saturday which was also nice. I asked a guy for help and he recognized my cleetus shirt, heck yeah brother! The bathrooms were clean here on top of all that.

The produce packaged tomatoes were a bit pricey and not fresh at all but overall, the store appears well maintained and offers a variety of fresh food and is very well staffed. The cashier was super friendly and offered me directions and options for some good fast food places in the area that I was interested in while staying a few days to help care for a loved one in a nearby Hospital.

The deli in this store pretty much sucks. It is about the worst shop rite deli I have been to. The selection is bad and the prices are high. I am sure the owner is going to blame the employees, but it is not their fault. Every time I look at the meat selection here I do two things. 1Go to the freezer section and buy the pre packaged cold cuts. 2Plan to stop in Newton for a real deli. Damn pitiful. The only reason they are getting a 2 instead of 1 is because the employees are mostly nice.

We use Shop From Home religiously atleast once a week. It’s convenient and great. But unfortunately the last few weeks we’ve noticed a change within the department. The manager is hardly ever around to speak with, the workers seem unhappy and everything seems so chaotic and unorganized. Will continue to use the service but i dread coming to pick up my order.

When I first moved to Montague, I gave this store five stars. Since then I have become increasingly disappointed in this store. Their sale items are constantly out of stock and a lot of the shelves are often bare. I also find it ridiculously more expensive than any other Shop Rite Ive ever been in. I understand its the closest food store to the area and I wonder if thats why they find the need to have such high prices. Very disappointing...Ill be checking out Price Chopper today as an alternative.

Filthy, disgusting, sorry excuse of a grocery store! Bathrooms are gross with poop on the walls and floor, the produce always looks rotten and has mold, meat selection is grim and they leave outdated stuff on the shelves and nobody seems to care! Store manager seems like a smug arrogant person. The shop from home manager Stephanie was rude. Just overall a horrible place to shop. Price chopper is much cleaner with friendlier service and their prices are much more reasonable! Avoid at all cost.

Place is too crowded. Never enough checkouts open. You will spend an excessive amount of time waiting on line! Some sale prices are great. Everyday pricing is high. If you value your time and money, there are better options in the area.

They always have what I want but I wish the staff were a little more knowledgeable about where things are. The new deli app is great. I can order what I head before I leave home and its all ready when I get there.

Good food selection. Managers are nice. Most employees are nice. One guy to avoid is the older gentleman with long hair and round glasses. Was cussing in front of my kids getting mad about coupons.

store is very clean, merchandise is displayed well. personnel are well versed on product location & will take you to where it is. cashiers are really ready to enhance your shopping experience, asking if you found everything you needed. if you missed something, she/he will have it retrieved for you.love Shop Rite.

I shop for sale items usually... good variety of items, gluten free, etc.... they take coupons with no problem, courtesy is usually helpful, yet i cant update my phone number for my price plus??? Have to get a new one... nbd... just sayin!!! the long lines or little help checking out may deter some, nobody likes waiting but they dont have many checkout lanes open most times I visit... unless you have 15 items or less... you may have to wait a bit. Plenty of parking, usually busy though... I believe they are open until 1 am now... used to be 24 hours. Good place for quality items and sales...

One the cleanest most well. Organized shoprites Ive been too. The sales are usually great. Clearance bakery items are my favorite. The employees are usually very friendly and theres a liquor store and dollar store not far from. It. Basically one stop. Shopping

Deli staff is great after 3pm! Very nice and friendly, during the day not so much very grumpy. Customer service could be better. Up front managers during the day are not great, but late day and evening. Are much,better So much Nicer! They switch managers too much! Also the front end head girl is very nasty, its suppose to be about give the customer the "pickle" but Amanda, doesnt follow the training videos or shoprite values.

Im always mistaken for an employee when I shop! LOL Ive been advocating for more organics since the 80s! FINALLY we can survive on the organics they do carry! Prices here are particularly HIGH! Owners know its the only place where many folks can shop! Employees are nice! Management not so great. Education in customer service would be a great improvement! Lower prices would make a HUGE difference for many on low incomes! Too many employees are seen sitting out front smoking! Disgusting to have to walk through their nasty smoke cloud! Low class local people! LOL

Best bakery around. Fresh, tasty, yum. Every time I shop there, I have wonderful cashiers and helpful staff. Fresh produce and meat. Just wish they carried catnip and cat grass fresh like another grocery store in PA does for my cats. Clean store well done, accolades to the workers. 👏.

Always loved shop rite until the last 2 times I got bad meat there. Had no problem getting $back but was disappointed about the meat! 💖the sales & Kathy S. from deli! Shes great & fast!! Great produce too!!

This is such a weird place. They hire the nicest people here who are so helpful and courteous. The cashiers are always so polite, and the stockers are always smiling. The customers are the complete opposite. Its like someone peed on their collective cereal. People will slam their full carts onto your ankle and then yell at you. They will cut in line. They will complain about cashiers not taking their coupons that expired in 2012. Avoid the rush as best you can, and you will have a great time here. Otherwise, put on some armor and watch out! (Yes, the store is a little cleaner these days, too. No more rats!)

I dont shop here often, but when I do, Im usually pretty happy with the selection.Its a nice place, never too busy. Its clean, and you can get some good produce. When its in season, they sell great fresh corn.Im not going to get excited about a conventional grocery store, but for what it is... yeah, its pretty good.

Excellent service. I have been using it for well over a year. The shoppers are courteous and call with questions and do pick quality merchandise. The delivery persons are also very friendly, and willing to carry your groceries right to your kitchen table if needed. They do take your coupons and apply them to your next order. Cant be beat!
