Shogun Sushi and Hibachi - Japanese restaurant in La Crosse, United States
Went for my friends birthday and it was amazing, as always. I have some dietary restrictions and I was able to eat off the regular menu with no issues.
Amazing! Only 15 mins til close and they let us eat and were cordial and prompt. Food was on point as always. Love this location !
Flavors were good and servers were kind. I enjoyed the chefs special of sushi and teriyaki chicken. The sushi was best.
This place was awesome! We showed up close to closing and they were more than happy to serve us. The food was fantastic, the interior was beautiful and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I will definitely eat here again.
Fantastic selection of sushi rolls. Very fresh and original. The crab Rangoon and gyoza are highly recommended. Great atmosphere.
Loved it! Well be back many times. Lunch menu was amazing. Vibe is lovely. Wait staff is friendly. Service was fast. Food was gorgeous and delicious!
The waiter kept coming up to us telling us our foods almost ready. After and hour and me seeing that other people that got seated after us were getting their food. I walked up to the waiter and another employee and asked why other people were getting food before us. They havent even started making are Sushi and we got the most expensive thing on the menu. I jest left it was our anniversary
Order ignored. 18 piece sushi ordered and was served 10 piece sashimi and 6 sushi. Pretty weak to only serve what you want to get rid of.
The food is fantastic, ate here with one of my adult sons who is a "Foodie" We were there for quite a while racking up a pretty good bill and we noticed a few things. One, you are far better off if you sit at the sushi bar, service is almost immediate, you get to sample items for free, and can make specialty requests, where as we saw people seated waiting a long time for service. Two, cleanliness could be better, we saw people pay their bill and leave, and then staff never even wiped tables before new customers were seated at them. Again..food is really good.
Great food at a fair price. Not cheap mind you, but good sushi really never is. We ended up going back the next day for the sashimi lunch special. Their Sunday BOGO special is a fantastic choice for those interested in trying different rolls without breaking the bank.
Sushi was only good part of the meal, Hibachi Chicken was bland basically boring. Hostesses or those showing you to your table wear shorts , real classy. This is a nothing spectacular low class restaurant.
Had a very nice dinner date, thank you for prompt service and calm atmosphere that evening (sometimes hibachi gets wild)
The chefs and staff were very friendly and made sure we enjoyed each plate. My partner and I had an amazing experience. The Toro was DIVINE and melted in our mouths and we loved our favorite Tako (octopusand Unagi (eel). We also ordered some red bean sesame balls for dessert even though they are under appetizers on the menu. They are semi-sweet deliciousness and one of my all time favorite treats! When you stop in I highly recommend asking for the lychee martini!! Sooo yummy.
This has become one of my favorite places to get anything fish related. The unagi don to the veggie rolls and especially sushi rolls. Always fresh, well presented, and the wait staff is fast.
We ordered food to go. They told us that it would be ready in 30 minutes. They made us wait a total of 2 hours for 5 sushi rolls. One of the rolls was missing too. The food is great though.
Sat at the bar. Ordered on tap beer which was fresh and tasty. Service was great. Had fatty tuna sushi, the chefs choice sushi and a roll. All items were good. Price was great. Stop on by.
The food here was excellent, my personal favorite is the godzilla roll. The environment is so pleasant and keeps to the Japanese theme. The servers are very kind and the food arrives rather fast. It is by far my favorite Japanese restaurant I have ever been to.
$50 for 2 low quality meals, 2 sodas, and a $9 tip. The chicken was terrible. Ive had far better at the mall for $5. For the money, I sure I would have liked to have gotten more than 4 cut up scallops and a cup of rice. It was obvious they forgot to season the scallops before cooking and just slathered some gross teriyaki ontop to hide the sin.We were less than 10 minutes late upon arrival, and the snobby front desk person refused to allow us to sit with our party untill a manager stepped in. When leaving, it took them nearly 20 minutes to give me a bill and let me pay. I just wanted to leave after the horrible experience and instead had to stay another half hour.If you like overpriced bad food where someone lights an onion on fire to try and impress you, buy all means, go here.
Amazing service! Our extended family group ordered 6 hibachi, 2 sizzling side noodles and a couple meals of assorted sushi 🍣 along with clear soup, goyza, and edamame. Our hibachi chief was funny, fast, and entertaining, and the meals (chicken, steak & scallopswere awesome 👍👍
We have been here several times we went last night for my sons birthday and there prices have really jumped up. Plus they added the tip of 18% to our bill which I dont feel is right they should be letting people know this ahead of time. Dont get me wrong I always leave a nice tip I dont need them putting how much I have to leave on my. Also the wait time was ridiculous Needless to say with there new prices dont think we will be going back any time soon.
Great food for the whole family!
Beautiful restaurant with the best sushi in LaCrosse. Will be a family favorite for years. The waiter was an extremely sweet man and mad the visit so much better.
Absolutely amazing. Do not know why we waited so long to try this place.
Had lunch at 2pm on a Friday. Almost no one there, but our 1 appetizer took 30 minutes. My drink of Sprite was refilled with water which we made a joke of, but my husbands hibachi steak was well done when he prefers rare. Very little meat was in the hibachi meal. The sushi was delicious. A $50+ lunch was less than satisfying.
Went here for my birthday & got the hibachi lunch. Was the first time my parents had ever been to a hibachi & they loved it. The food was delicious & fast. Definitely going to come back to try the sushi.
Went last Sunday for lunch. My shrimp was burnt and so were some other ladies who ordered it at our table. Had to ask for the sauces because we weren’t given any. Had to ask about our appetizer bc food was almost done and it still hadn’t come out. Waiter took forever to get our drinks and never offered my daughter or I refills when everyone else around us got asked. Took like 15 min to get our bill (after I asked for it). Not sure what the issue is lately, but this place used to be so good. Now the service is mediocre at best. Do better or we won’t be back.
I’ve ordered a tempura shrimp appetizer, fried noodles but the butler/staff who took my order didn’t understand so they mixed my order of fried noodles and switched it to fried rice w/chicken instead, and a California roll dinner.Main issue is the mixed up order of fried noodle turned out to be the rice. The taste was super salty, didn’t want to disrespect the cooks so I ate a few bites of it. The tempura was super greasy and really plain with no flavor at all just oil taste. The California roll was made last and they’ve almost forgot it so ate a couple of it, which was probably the best plate order I got.
Good sushi. They have a lot of specialty rolls and decent prices. Unfortunately, I will not be going here again soon. We waited 45 minutes before we were even asked for drinks and given water. Then we waited another 15 minutes to get said drinks and have our orders taken. We waited over an hour for food. We also waited 15 minutes to get the check. We spent over two and a half hours there as a party of 5.I have gotten delivery much faster. So I think they prioritize deliveries over in person dining when it comes to making food. There would be sushi waiting for half an hour at the sushi bar because the rest of the tables order wasnt done yet.Very disappointed. If you do go, the Shogun Roll and Godzilla Roll are my favorites. The Shrimp Tempura is also very good.
Awesome sushi. Anything we’ve ordered tasted great. Great service especially with our children. Our favorite sushi place for sure. Kids and wife beg to go there every weekend. I suggest the Halloween roll.
Place looks great, if you havent tried sushi before, they dont make it easy or comfortable. Even ordering what you do like feels like a challenge. Their online ordering they do not honor all of what is listed. Food quality and consistency are great. Some advice clarify your online menu better. Also watch as what I have previously gotten seems to now be only half of that.
The counter was sticky and dirty, the plates still had dried food on them. The soda and water had "floaties" in them. Were were advised not to order the sushi due to a long wait period, but the table nxt to us sat after us, and were allowedto order sushi. We had a rather large birthday crew and the 2 people who ordered the tuna, got bubble guts from their meal. Pretty expensive place to not have exquisite cleanliness.
The Sunday sushi special is my favorite. Buy one roll and get another free. Their spicy mayo is by far the best Ive had. It has a smokiness to it that isnt overpowering but perfectly complimentary to anything its on or in. The miso soup is flavorful and the fried rice with thier yum-yum sauce never disappoints. Sunday youll wait a little longer for your food if youre dining on the sushi side but its worth the extra few minutes.
I have been a long time regular customer since they opened. The food has always been very good consistently. The service not so much. And I have been ok w that for a long time. But Sunday there were 3 of us. We ordered. Had long wait times as usual. Only two of us got our food. We could not find our server for 20 min. When we did we asked about our other guest. After rethinking it. He noticed he forgot to input it into the computer. So he said he would get right on it. We THOUGHT ours would be right up. After a half hour and two of us done eating. We are going on 2 hours now. We cancelled our order and asked for the bill. He kept saying two minutes two minutes. We paid. We left a tip. Accidents happen. But how things were handheld after knowing a mistake was made I will no longer go back. :(
Love the sushi. Know the old owner. Place has a good, comfortable atmosphere. Love the new owner. Love the Hibachi grill. Wait staff are so nice and very attentive. Love this place. Anyone who hasnt dined here are seriously missing out!
I’m not from Wisconsin, but I tried this restaurant out after google best sushi restaurants near La Crosse, WI and this restaurant popped up. I ordered to go on a Friday night (10/1/2021and the place was pretty packed, took about 30 minutes for my order to be ready. Which wasn’t that long of a wait for sushi, I plan to return and dine in for the hibachi side of the restaurant, but I ordered the yummy, fantastic, and crispy salmon roll. Everything was delicious and I will definitely be back.
Awesome restaurant, right on the exit from I90. We were on our way back to Chicago from Minnesota and absolutely glad we made the stop here. The restaurant kitchen closes at 2:45 pm, and we reached around the same time and still they took our order. Friendly and helpful staff. Lunch menu had some nice options- and the food served was tasty and had great value for the money. The lunch menu comes with soup, sushi, main course and dumplings. Overall a very happy customer, not sure when we will travel this way again, but would definitely love to stop by again.
Waiter took over 15 minutes to ask our for our order, but got the tables around us and after us. Never brought our drinks, had to go to the bar for those.Overpriced and bland. Ordered kitchen teriyaki scallops, clearly frozen scallops with no sear on them, no seasoning. Hubby ordered the steak, it was seasoned with ginger, other than that, bland.Kids had chicken, again, completely bland. The snow peas and broccoli had more flavor than the chicken and scallops.Very disappointing.
Super fun to eat here. Sushi rolls were good and the hibachi food and chef were amazing!!
This was AMAZING! The service was fantastic, the waitress was swift and sweet, the food was scrumptious, and the cook was hilarious. There were a lot of different meat selections at our table and everything looked terrific. I personally did not care for the mushroom soup. The people next to me slurped theirs down swiftly but didn’t enjoy the salad. To each their own. The price seems to be the standard. This was my first time at a hibachi grill, but my wife has been to others and said it costed about the same.Definitely coming back again!
Okay, so this is an amazing place to stop by. I ordered the sashimi dinner, which is 18 pieces of chefs pick of sashimi, the white peach sake, a few pieces of sushi, and the Passion Roll. Definitely worth it. The hibachi side was pretty busy, and it seems to be a local favorite as many people were coming in for to go orders as well. Everything tasted amazing. The sashimi had a perfect chill to it. The bar waitress was very sweet too, and was a joy to have a chat with while I was eating and waiting for food. The miso soup is what I would recommend instead of the clear soup, because its one of the best miso soups Ive had in a while. The salad was very refreshing, and I like that the dressing was a bit more citrus-y than Ive had at other places. Definitely stop in if you are in the area.
Food was delicious. Staff was super friendly. Really enjoyed our meal.
So much fun. The show they put on to prepare your food is amazing. And the food is great too. Definitely a place to visit more then once.
Absolutely love Shogun! Theres something for everyone and they have fantastic sushi!! Highly recommend!
great experience took my son for his 18th birthday he loves it the food was delicious if you go between 12 and 3 its the lunch special and you can get a delicious meal for $10 I would definitely recommend this and I definitely will be going back the waiter was awesome
The food is very authentic, the service is quick, the people are kind, and the food is affordable! Its helps create a greater diversity of food options in a smaller community! Its great for the whole family 🙂
The service was friendly. The food was very good... Theres two sides to the restaurant. (Sit down and the hibachiWe ate on the hibachi side. It is like having a dinner with a show 😃. Overall I enjoyed and definitely that again.
The food was pretty good but the service was not so good. We saw our drinks sitting at the bar for awhile and were always wondering where our waiter was. He moved with no sense of purpose. I would understand if the dining room was full, but if wasnt half full. The one roll we ordered came on fire, but after the flash, was mediocre at best.
Food is always good. Service usually is too. But today it was horrible. Waited nearly an hour for our food and over 20 minutes for our bill after we were done eating.
Excellent food. Large variety of sushi and hibachi grill!
Good food, but at times sushi seems a little soggy. I can understand that it is not perfect execution with food at all times due to busy time. Servers are all very nice and friendly, and check in from time to time. Price point is okay as well. The bento boxes are amazingly priced, and are delicious as well.
