Shoda Market Cafe - Cafe in Celbridge, Ireland
Coffee is lovely but the food is not good
A nice cafe with friendly service and a lovely ambience. I keep a keto diet so was looking for a basic Irish breakfast minus. Was surprised my order came with a pound of fried potatoes and a bap the size of my head. The bap was easily removed but the potatoes were delicious and I succumbed to a few pieces. I think they will serve a la crate and that’s what I will do next time. The only quibble was that the bacon was lukewarm in contrast to the rest of the plate. The coffee was good though Irish sized. #keto
Well presented sub standard food.
We ordered eggs benedict, eggs royale and two cappucinos (€32). The coffees and service were good but the food was very disappointing (particularly at that price point), bland flavours and far too much butter and sauce.
The avacado and scrambled egg breakfast was super, and the latte was great too!
Excellent service fantastic food at reasonable prices.
Nice coffee, well presented place, nice shop area. The food is ok, I would describe it as nearly there. Huge potential but could do with being fresher or something. Handy spot re parking too
Very nice cafe, nice decor, but very expensive.
Lovely foodNice choiceDecor very inviting
Went there for breakfast on 30 September. Had the avocado and eggs on sourdough with extra bacon on the side, accompanied by a flat white coffee. I enjoyed the food but the sourdough was a bit tough going. The coffee was very nice. The staff were lovely. My only comment is that the place doesn’t seem to know if it wants to be upmarket or a canteen type place. It tries to do both which for me doesn’t work so well. When you first go in it is confusing as to what the set up is because no one greets you at the door to show you to a table, or to explain the system. So after a moment or two, you realise that you have to go and pick yourself a tray and go through cafeteria style which immediately makes it feel more downmarket, with many of the food items pre-cooked, and when you make your selection, they take them away for reheating.Overall a nice place with a handy takeaway station near the door.
Stopped off en route west for lunch. A first visit and will be back. Cannot reccomend highly enough. Fresh, tasty salad selections, with top class ingredients, in house prepared, with a choice of fish and other options; hot plate menu, items including, beautiful light battered hake, served with an excellent side salad and freshly cooked thin chips and a wide variety buffet options. Reasonable prices and excellent coffee. Well done to chefs and to the friendly and efficient service. First class!
Great service, friendly efficient staff. Food was delicious and plentiful. Well done guys
Very nice latte and iced tea. It was busy though and very loud so it wouldn’t be somewhere I’d go to relax! 😅 they do nice gourmet Irish foods to buy as well a gifts, too!
Has lost its reputation for good food in my view. €18 for 2 coffees a partially burnt quiche and a brownie was expensive. Needs a lot of improvement to get back to where it was.
Nice selection of fresh breakfast optionsLovely coffeeFriendly staff
This is a wonderful ambient restaurant to meet friends or have a working meeting with colleagues. There is a variety of seating options for all party sizes. There is also outdoor seating available.Staff are friendly and helpful without being intrusive. However at times it can be incredibly busy so seating choices can be limited during these times. The restaurant is clean, tables wiped down straight away after customers have left their tables, and, the bathrooms are also refreshed regularly. There is a large variety of food available, my favourite menu is their breakfast menu, it has choice to suit all palettes, from a fresh granola bar to pancakes and everything in between. There is a large selection of pastries, for those not needing a full meal and, large tasty scones with a good selection of jams.My only negative is their poor selection of herbal teas. Some years ago they offered a herbal tea experience which was quite enjoyable, however that was removed from the menu and now their herbal tea boxes are on a high shelf and staff are unfamiliar with their content. An improved selection to include a caffeine free variety, nicely presented to the customer would at least encourage us the high price charged for this beverage here is actually worth it.In terms of cost the restaurant is moderately expensive but relative to other similar establishments. Given their quality of food and the the environment and ambience of the cafe it is worth the expense.Overall a lovely eateries that I will continue to frequent on a weekly basis.
Lovely cafe but cakes were so expensive . 4.80 for this little cake not much wider then a tablespoon. See photo
Fantastic service - really friendly informed staff and great foodGluten free option available
Waiting time at the takeaway counter was really bad. One barista who was very laid back and did not seem to be aware of the queue.
Very tasty, good quality food in nice setting. Good Covid measures well-implemented. Noisy, so chat not easy.
Just got some pastry and they are not fresh. It seems that some icing sugar sprinkled on the top makes them look fresh.Very disappointed.
Had breakfast on the way to the airport, great experience! Food was fabulous with a great choice. The young man serving us was super friendly and helpful. A brilliant stop-off, just minutes from the motorway. I highly recomend!
Nice spot for a lunch, a bit short on parking. Good food but a little pricy for a grilled sambo at 9 euro
Visited Shoda last year with my aunt and cousin for breakfast before I caught my train home. Had a delicious breakfast bap and latte. The pancakes my cousin got looked absolutely stunning too, just thinking about it makes me hungry!Food is on the pricey side, but totally worth it as the ingredients they use are sourced locally, and are super delicious. Will definitely be visiting again whenever I’m back in Maynooth!
Brought a friend for breakfast @ 10.30,l never complain, but this was the worst breakfast and experience i ever had. The breakfast was cold and seemed to be reheated. Tables full of dishes ,disgusting. The whole experience was terrible .Im a local but will not be returning
OMG what a disappointment decor was nice staff very courteous location good but the food was not great portions mediocre and way overpriced for the portions even the cake selection was poor we will not be coming back.
Great range of good food, friendly staff, a complete mix of ages in customers proves Shoda has something for everyone.
Its grand. Menu is limited and its surprising that a Full Irish isnt possible when all ingredients are part of other meals. Staff could have been better too. The barista left after steaming the milk and just disappeared leaving the next staff member to figure who and what was happening. For the sake of 30seconds, she should have finished the order.
I only got a scone and hot chocolate. The scone was ok, the hot chocolate was ok, I seen it on Instagram but didnt meet expectations.
Gorgeous freshly prepared food and a very nice ambience to the place. Lovely decor. Just a wee bit pricey for a sandwich, but they are gorgeous and a hearty meal in themselves!
Lovely products to buy in the Pantry style layout plus nice food in the restaurant. Good customer service to seat us when there was a queue.
Lovely lunch, soup and beef roll, chicken goujons and chips served with hot chocolate. Fast service. Highly recommend if in Maynooth.
Surberb cafe, just love the French Toast. Earlier this morning in a very busy cafe after taking my order I continued on to get Coffee and pay. When I got to the table our order had already arrived. What service!!
We were looking for somewhere handy for lunch today while in Maynooth and decided to drop into the Glenroyal Hotel, mainly for convenience of parking to be honest!I cannot recommend Shoda highly enough, a rustic, market style layout, which was spacious and comfortable. A family of 4, we were met by the friendliest of staff, Covid vaccines confirmed in seconds and then shown to our table. We ordered our food at the counter, again the staff were most welcoming and helpful, and it was delivered in no time. (Absolutely delicious, freshest cut sandwiches included.)All very reasonably priced, a most enjoyable hour spent all in all in very pleasant surroundings. We will be back for sure, well done to all👍
Breakfast €13 plus €3.20 for a pot of tea.I looked at the name again yes Shoda Market Cafe not the K Club.Food was adequate nothing bad nothing special and definitely not worth €13.00.Never ever again.
Great Coffee, food and atmosphere.
They really put the effort into what they do here. Yes, its a little more expensive but youre getting your moneys worth. Food is cooked to order, fresh ingredients and with a lot of care. Full Irish is excellent.
Beautiful Saturday morning so let’s eat out ..Shoda is great .. In a v good location and easy parking.Menu’s are varied (I imagine they support the usual dietary codes; vegan choices, gluten-free and vegetarianismfor us it was a good fry up and toast. But in fairness the menu was not so expensive and offered plenty of choices.Watch out for the very expensive kids breakfast pancakes €6 for pancakes: two of them (yes two pancakesand a Nutella pot ..
I went here with my boyfriend and ordered a sandwich and chips. My boyfriend ordered a roast sandwich, he wanted roast pork but he was told they ran out and he was given chicken instead but the man behind him got roast pork. He asked for it toasted and it was handed to him not toasted. He sent it back and it took another 10 minutes for it to come back. His sandwich was €8.50 and my small chicken and mayo sandwich was €6.50. We ordered a portion of chips and they weren’t even a half a handful of chips. They were €1.50. We had to ask for cutlery when we sat down. We ordered two brownies after and they were so dry. The staff made no eye contact with us and didn’t even greet us. They took my boyfriends plate away before I was finished, instead of waiting for me to be finished and take the plates away together. I won’t be coming back here again.
Good coffee, cakes, lunches.Friendly young staff and a nice truck outside selling coffees and ice creams. The shop inside sells good quality wines, chocolates and sandwiches.
Was really looking forward to having a nice breakfast and catch up with a friend, I thought Shoda would be the perfect place but boy was I wrong. Firstly, we werent greeted when we entered and had no idea where to go and it was unclear how to order. Staff members wearing suits (not sure what differed them to everyone elsespoke to us in a condescending manner, making us feel as though we were a burden! Food was lukewarm and one of the two meals was forgotten, had to ask for it. The only reason I havent given one star is that the young staff there were the only ones who made an effort and I feel for them as they seem to be the only ones who keep it going.
Maynooth is a beautiful town, so I love to visited and stop for a coffee here. Looking great inside and have few tables outside also. Staff is nice. I like the shop design, that is telling you must be a good place, and it is indeed. From the bike parked outside to the decorations inside, love everything. Congratulations.
Beautiful brunch sitting in the sun. Great healthy selection. Well priced too.
Very enjoyable, great food and great staff.
Amazing coffee..So helpful with allergies too, very patient and helpful. Small kids play area. I will be back!
The bacon & egg bagel at shodas is one of the few breakfasts I’ve had there & was a perfect fit for my writing morning . As a writer sometimes all you need is a great ambience also not to miss my 7 month old who’s beside enjoying the baby friendly cafe !!
Pretty restaurant right off the M4. The food is ok, the eggs Benedict was too salty unfortunately...otherwise I would have given it 4 stars.
Lovely place and lovely staff, food was a bit cold when were served but just mentioned it to a staff member and they fixed it right away, fresh heated plate and a complimentary cake which was also delicious. As said below it is avoca style and for my personal preference would rather to be served but definitely an A1 choice for coffee and a cake
Very pleasant surprise finding Shoda. Friendly staff and quick clearing tables. Food is very good, it is also expensive. Childrens menu has good choices. The children meal includes dessert which should be called "tiny taste of dessert" as was minuscule. Would be better to omit "Includes dessert " from menu board. Nice little food market to browse and purchase Irish products. Definitely worth a visit.
Great food & friendly staff. The coffee here is fantastic.
