Counter-serve operation in East Gate Shopping Center turning out no-frills Indian food.
Super Indian street food! Must try
Based on reviews i went to shivam chaat corner.the food is average...i asked for vadapav spicy...instead of making it spicy they just sprinkled the chill powder that is tooo bad ....the service also not good .....the one rating also not worthy....and the most worst part is tea...its just having sugar water
Ive been going to Shivam to eat ever since I moved to Atlanta. As an Indian, when I go to an Indian restaurant, I expect to taste food like home, and that is exactly what I taste when we get food from Shivam. Every time we go shopping at Shivam grocery store, we usually get lunch from Shivam. We almost always get the Punjabi Thali as we are Punjabi. It is super delicious!
One of the worst Indian Chaat food Ive ever had in my life. The Paneer Paratha and Bombay Bhel Puri...worst...the Paneer paratha was the frozen the one we get in the store in the frozen section, it was warmed up in the microwave and gave it..the Bhel was dry and there was no farsan and shev along with tamarind chutney......never ever reccomend this place to anyone...really bad experience
We have been frequenting this eatery for many years now … whenever we go to buy some groceries at adjacent Shivam groceries…. veg good is simple and service courteous with affordable prices !
Reminded me of Rajasthan. Thank you so much for amazing authentic dal bati
Being a native of Rajasthan I have been eating Dal baati since childhood & Trust me If I say I had the best Dal baati Churma in a long long time..Very Very Authentic taste & Good portion size & Totally worth the price !! .Owner was very courteous throughout. We also tried Samosa chaat & It was good too..Would definitely visit again to try other stuffs in the menu.
Great tasting food and good price . Can’t wait for their fine dining restaurant to open in September 2022
This place heaven in cobb county. Special thali of dal baati including gaate da sabzi is very taste, i simply loved your service and food.. big fan
I love this place. Staff is helpful and friendly. And food tasted good.
At first I was bit sceptical but had to try as I was craving for a vada pav and this place didnt disappointed. I was served with two piping hot vada pav. My only let down was it was not a Mumbai pav but instead a burger bun.I also enjoyed yummy chole bhature it was perfect not oily and chole had the right balance of spices I loved itThey could do better for ambience and the rest room areaI would recommend anyone around Marrietta to give this joint a shot and you will not be disappointed a
They are the best and authentic home made style Indian food place in the larger Atlanta area. The food is always great especially the homemade vegetables. The have special Daal Bati days in a month.
Truly underrated and delicious!! The owner is very nice and recognized me when I came twice in one week.
I picked up fried rice and veg manchurian couple of days back, manchurian was sweet and rice was soggy, poor quality food. Also the price was too high for the quantity they offered.
Owner is very rude. Ordered food for catering - he insisted that I hadnt and he only "gave a quote" though we had settled on pickup day/time as well as price. Gave me half the original qty and the palak paneer was already spoiled. He doesnt know how to provide good customer service!
Ordered daal bati today....good food but very expensive. Portion of Rice and yogurt was very less. Food is tasty but they need to either look at the portion and increase it or decrease the prices.
Hidden gem near Atlanta!! A small wonderful family owned place for Dal Bati and Indian Chaat. Tasty food and good quantity! Will definitely visit again :)The owners are very sweet and friendly!Make sure you check their ‘Today’s Specials’ on the website.
Went 2nd time after many years. But this time, food was not up to the mark and all the prices seem to have been increased much from menu posted in pictures here, and this was fine too considering how COVID might have severly impacted this industry but food at least should be worth it. Went for Indo Chinese food and nothing seemed good. Noodles were plain, manchurian needed improvement too. Momos were ok but had to ask for spicy chutney which is fine. Roti in Indian thali appeared as not freshly hand made but just heating what you get from Indian grocery stores. Had many other minor things that made the experience bad but not worth writing as will not be returning here.
Went back again after 2 years. Still average food and a rude owner. This guy tries hard to keep away people. Runs a restaurant as if he is doing a favor to the world. Madras Mantra is a better option.
At shivam chaat corner, have their Daal Baati thali. You have to check their website for the availability of this dish. And this is must try one. Ghee is so so pure.
Authentic, flavorful, use of good quality ingredients, hygienic, good portion size delicious vegetarian Indian food. The daal baati are a must try. The Thaali has a good variety of vegetable curries, daals etc. it’s a wholesome meal.
Amazing food. Customer service & ambiance has a lot of room for improvement. Ironically, the dine area doesn’t have much room. We ordered 4 dishes of their daal baati, which sells for $16 / $17. The quantity didn’t justify the price. When the owner asked for $6 for one extra bowl of daal, it certainly seemed greedy approach.
The food is just ok, the only food items that we like here are samosa and vada pav. The chaats all have same flavor, not at all authentic. They put chickpeas, tamarind chutney, and mint chutney..thats it. No onions, no tomatoes, no sev, no other spices. We bought dal bhati once, the bhatis were so tiny, pulav was just rice and peas cooked together with no spices. In dinner thali, they were out of stock on some of the items mentioned in the thali, which was not told to us before placing the order and prices are high. The lady who works in the kitchen is very rude and behaves like she is serving food for free.
One of the best Indian restaurants i have ever been to. The owners are really sweet. The best Dal bhathi I have ever had!
food was below average , wanted to try hakkah noodles because we like it in a different place but we regret our decision , noodles was really bad and so were pakoras . i would not recommend anyone to eat here . AVOID THIS PLACE .
Authentic Rajasthani food. I recently moved to Woodstock and wanted an authentic Indian cuisine near me..this is the answer. However, they need to upgrade their interior
Good options. Place your order, pick up your groceries and come back to eat.
Taste was not as expected… dahi vada was not fresh.
Best place to have a quality Vegetarian food in Mariatta area. We had Thali in many other locations but the one provided here is the best grade food 🍱. We tried many North Indian foods and snacks/Chaat items and all are up to the mark and tasted yummy. They maintained this place very clean and always followed pandemic guidelines with respect to payments and delivery as well. For last 3+ years we had variety of foods from here and will continue to do so.Another best part of this place is Shivam Groceries is next to this place and easy to do quick grocery shopping 🛒 and grab food at same time :)
I was excited to find a vegetarian restaurant in the area, but honestly cant recommend this place to anyone. I tried bati, punjabi thaali, samosas and chhole bhature. Overall, the food quality is so-so, everything was very oily, and salt level in food was on a higher side. I will skip this place.
Best chaat in Marietta area. They are taking excellent COVID precautions. Only one person is allowed inside at a time. They take the order quickly and give you an accurate estimate of how long it’ll take. You can wait outside. All the chaat items are well prepared. Won’t comment on Thali and other items since I’ve never tried them here. They do have a great baadaam drink.
Wow! We found this hole in the wall place when we were going to the workout equipment store a few doors down. Hands-down the best authentic vegetarian Indian food we have had in the USA. We do not live very close, but we have ordered and picked up on a few occasions. They need a bigger and brighter location, because they would be the hottest spot in town for vegetarian eating!
My go-to for Indian food, good takeout, or just trying a new thing they offer! Masala dosa and samosa chaat are two all-time favorites. They always make me feel warmly welcome here
Ordered 5 items today through uber eats. First of all we received only 4 items. Secondly, the taste and quality of food was way below average. Manchurian tasted like tomato ketchup, pao in pao bhaji tasted sweet (weird), tortilla in chaat was sogy and aloo tikki chaat tasted stale. Wouldnt recommend!
The owner patiently helped me choose entrees for my family. I wasnt as familiar with the names of some of the items but our friends have raved about this place so we had to try it. The meal was wonderful. The Dal and paneer were full of flavor and just the right amount of spice for us (we ordered mild). We also liked the option to pay for compostable to-go boxes instead of styrofoam. We will be back.
This place is the real deal. A real gem in this part of Metro Atlanta. Amazing tastes and you can tell it is fresh. And great prices!
From authentic Indian street food to proper lunch/dinner plates - this little corner will not disappoint you in taste and flavor. Very small inside so takeouts are a better option. Very polite staff, makes you feel good.P.S. Just avoid Bread pakoda
Poor service, lame attitude, piddly serving sizes and filled with cheaper ingredients. $$$Look, no one expects a high level of service when visiting a desi restaurant but a basic minimum level is a reasonable expectation. Shivam Chaat Corner scores even below that bare minimum and continued to strive for it.There are no pictures of the food. When asking about ingredients or how something is prepared, that becomes too burdensome for the male owner behind the counter. When asking to separate dry and wet ingredients for takeout, that too weighs him down. He wants to charge extra to separate the ingredients on top of the already inflated prices. Wow! If you arrive within a few minutes of closing, they don’t serve you. They don’t even want to hear what you are ordering. Maybe I want something that is quick to prepare but nope, they close before closing time. It is normal for restaurants to wind down after closing hours but that would make too much sense for this place that prides itself on aggravating the customer like they are gunning for the World’s Worst Awards. There is no effort made to accommodate the customer. The general attitude is that of “take what we have, the way we have, or go elsewhere.”The serving sizes are either too small relative to the prices, or are loaded with cheaper ingredients to make them appear grand. There isn’t adequate ventilation to keep the strong aromas from the kitchen from consuming the small dining area. So if you dine in, or even spend a few minutes waiting for pickup, be prepared to have your clothes and even you hair smell of the deep fryer oil. It sticks with you long after you have left. And the water cooler next to the filthy trash can or the bathroom. Oh no!There are limited options nearby for this street snack food so customers continue to accept this type of treatment. There exists a tremendous opportunity for a savvy entrepreneur to capitalize on this poor treatment and steal market share by avoiding the customer service failures of Shivan Chaat Corner or even simply improving upon those lapses slightly.
Being a food blogger, I was literally hunting for a place which can serve me good vegetarian food and guess what, I happened to find this one. After reading few reviews I thought of giving and a shotFrom the time ..my stay started in Atlanta, mostly am ordering food from this place and I just cannot think of ordering from another place. Thats the kind of food they serve that you kinda get hooked to it.Awesome vegetarian food, lots of options, no spillage during deliveries, serves fresh food.Taste is just awesome, packaging well done. All in all great good.Waiting to now visit them before I head back to Bangalore.Question: do you guys offer buffet??
Dahi puri and badam thandai were delicious. Punjabi thali had good options with paneer, dal makhani, rice, naan and desert. Pav bhaji was little disappointing but overall a good experience.
This place is awesome for vegetarians. Good variety of starters and main course options to choose from. We have ordered different items on the menu over the last few months that we have frequented this place and every time we were pleasantly surprised at the superb taste of the food. It’s not a place for ambience or service. It’s a place you go to for eating good food!
Hidden Gem run by mom and pop. You will love it if you’re a vegetarian. This shack has limited menu however it’s very authentic and fresh. They close at 8pm however you can order via Grub Hub and Uber Eats. We are a regular at this place for a long time.
Update (10/30/2018- It has been now nicer, more enjoyable and healthier to eat the Indian flavors here.I can surely say, restaurant is now one of the several reasons, you want to stay nearby areas.——————————Good but they need to be more friendly and must change plate quality to avoid any possible issue due to very hot food in extremely low quality plates.Food quality good.Need to improve air exaust process.
Not bad. But not too good either. We tried masala dosa and khasta kachori. The kachori was not fresh may be froZen. And the chat inside too much sour and spicy. The sambhar and chatni with the dosa was good though.
Food to try: dahi sev puri, gujarati thali, chaas, chole puri, vada pav, pav bhaji from the things we have tried from the menu. All their chaats are very delicious. Absolutely love gujarati thali here.We tried mysore masala dosa today and gobi manchurian, did not really enjoy that. Garlic chutney inside the dosa is dry and extremely spicy since there is green chillies inside the potato masala too which makes the dosa very spicy. We have also tried Punjabi thali but its alright.Things to improve: Ambience of the restaurant, cleanliness. The restaurant has great potential and food is really good.
This place is exactly what it claims to be. Indian food, No-Frills, just good food in a hurry. I had the veg pulao and palak paneer. Both were outstanding. Two orders of naan bread and a samosa Chaat. Easily enough to feed two people and I think my total was about $21. I already love this place.
07/10/2018We tried Punjabi thali and it was pretty spicy and good. Best was the garlic naan....................Authentic Rajasthani food I would say. I loved gatte ki sabji for its texture and right spices (on spicy side). Dal was with mixed lentils and again perfect spices and right one to go with Bati. In general it’s very heavy food, so I would say do not order anything when you are ordering dal Bati churma plate. It came with green chili pickle which made me nostalgic about home town. It’s high calorie food so come hungry and have it in lunch. The location is not much of a dine in type. I will suggest take away. We also tried pani puri and dahi puri. Pani puri pani was Hing one with tamarind sourness. We loved food so much that I am ready to ignore everything else and hence giving five stars. It’s self service place.
I had been here couple of times for lunch. Punjabi thali is very good and also food was very delicious. They serve only vegetarian food . Staff was very polite. Worth for the money what you pay. If you planning to visit this place over the weekend , make sure you have a reservation .
This was my first time here and I had Punjabi thali for lunch. The food was fresh and tasty. I will recommend this restaurant and will definitely stop by again to try their chats.
I had Dal bhatti special at Shivam over the weekend and hence I am posting this review. It is only for Dal Bhatti.Pros1. The food was tasty.2. The Bhatti had some ghee in it.3. Ghatte ki sabji was very nice4. Peas pulav was pretty good5. The person on the counter is very polite 🙂Cons1. The quantity of food was very less in comparison to the price2. Cost was 12.99 plus taxes makes it $13.77.3. You can have a delicious buffet lunch with non veg food and that too unlimited.4. 3 small batties, I regular cup size Dal, small cup gutta Sabji, I small bowl of pulav, and a very small bowl of churma...rest all sauce cup chutney 2 cupsAnything between $6 - $8...would have got 4.5 stars.
