Huge park, few minutes walk from Shinjuku station it has a formal garden, a Japanese landscape garden, a greenhouse . November 2022, the greenhouse has a magnificent orchid exhibition while the formal garden features a huge selection of blooming roses. A great place to enjoy the sun.

I lived in Tokyo for close to 20 years and had never visited the garden. What a miss. It is such a serene place and I couldnt tell I was in the middle of Tokyo. It costs 500 yen to enter and it was more than worth it. There are some nice cafes and restaurants around the park as well. Highly recommended.

This garden was probably the best large Japanese garden I have visited. And the space is just so wide, and expansive. Beautiful ponds with koi fish, beautiful shrubbery, beautiful layout and landscape. SUBARASHII!

If you need to visit anything like a park and want to enjoy some green nature, you can totally do that here!500 yen for the entrance and you are all set-up! Perfect for when going with a group as you are able to picnic and just enjoy each other with a relaxing view. If you however want to eat over there, I would say do that early and not around 14-15hr when most of the food is sold out.

The garden is very beautiful and large. It is divided in 4 types of areas (I thinkwith each area having different types of plant species. The trees soaring up your head just looks beautiful. I have heard that the garden is particularly magnificent during spring and autumn (Although I visited during summer). Great for spending weekend. There is also lawn area for sunbathing. In my view, this is the best garden in Tokyo. At last, you will need a whole day for this trip as the garden is huge and will not end in an hour or so.

For only 500Y there is so much to see.Clean, quiet and really taken care of, ideal for a break from the busy streets.Took some food with me and had lunch on the grass in the sun, just perfect.

A fantastic park that is about a 10-minute walk away from Central Shinjuku Station exit. There is an admission fee of ¥500 for adults and kids are free. But the ¥500 is so worth it.There is a greenhouse, the remnants of the royal plant nursery, a Japanese garden, a Western garden complete with hundreds of roses, lawns for picnics and playing, several cafes, and multiple forested stretches including a ginkgo avenue, which I’m sure looks glorious during the autumn season. It’s perfect for kids who love to explore, and you know they will be safe. The greenhouse is fun to walk through. you can bring in food and spent a morning or afternoon here followed by dinner somewhere in Shinjuku area.Paved paths which are good for strollers, canes, etc. Just enough toilets spread out, and they are clean. Vending machines available next to bathrooms.

In early October I stayed at a hotel nearby so my mom and I took a walk from our hotel to this garden. There is a modern Starbucks cafe in the garden that we certainly enjoyed the views of the garden from Starbucks.Multiple entrance/exit gates in the garden can be easier to access to the garden from the area you come from. It’s nice to have such a well maintained garden like this in the city.I saw people with their own lunch box coming to the garden for their lunch break.Admission fee for adults is 500 yen, senior is 250 yen. Garden map is available at the admission desk.

I went there on a rainy, cold day- but it was still beautiful. We found lots of momiji trees so must be insanely beautiful during mid autumn.I have to visit there again for Sakura or mid autumn season.Greenhouse was good too. We didnt expect much but it was actually so much fun to learn about its history and to watch various unique plants. The exhibition besides the entrance is so good too. They have a video to introduce national parks among Japan, Japanese cultures, tradition and such.Highly recommended if you are visiting Tokyo.

Great place for Sakura viewing. Lots of big open areas for picnics and even a special one for kids to run around. Kids enjoyed the tropical greenhouse which actually wasnt too hot. I really liked the Taiwan Pavilion. It was a gift from Japanese living in Taiwan when Taiwan was a "protectorate" of Japan. I think a gift for the empresses birthday. Taiwanese architecture and ceders.

We buy a season pass every year because we visit so often! The season pass is actually a great deal, especially since the day entry price increased a few years ago. There is something blooming and beautiful no matter the season, so visit here several times and make sure to come at different times of the year. There is a Starbucks, as well as some other cafes, in case you want to stop for a bite. In the spring, bring a picnic blanket and be prepared for hanami! However, do not bring alcohol as this will be turned away.

A lovely park situated close to Shinjuku Station. This is a very famous park and one of the national parks in Japan. It does cost to enter the park but it is fairly cheap and well worth the entry fee. Walking round the park is lovely and a brilliant way to escape the hustle and bustle of Tokyo.

A breath of fresh air in the busy Shinjuku district. You have to pay a ticket to get into this garden. You have a traditional tea house inside, picnic areas and a nice pond. Great place to come during the cherry blossom (but aware of the long line!).I especially like to come here after purchasing my lunch at the down floor of Isetan building, which is located near this garden. Be aware that alcohol is not allowed (they may check your bags at the entrance during the busy cherry blossom season). To access to this garden walk from Shinjuku Station South or East exist, or the subway line Shinjukugyoen-mae Station will bring you much closer. You have to pay for the entrance ticket, which is 500 JPY as of this time.

Beautiful, quiet, serene.Such a great place to just wander around aimlessly. It costs 500 yen to enter but included in that price is also entry to the greenhouse. Now, while the greenhouse isnt the most spectacular thing in the world its still something worth checking out when youre walking through the garden already.

After a very heavy first night in Japan, I headed here to wander through the beautiful gardens. If anything is going to clear your head and help give you clarity in life it is this place! Sitting on the grass and looking into the distance you can see the city of Japan and its beautiful skyline of buildings. The park was so quiet and serene, with so many pretty flowers and greenery. I remember many times in Japan on my trip, but this place was definitely one of them. Loved it

Accidentally stumbled upon this place when walking around the area of our hotel. It was extremely cheap to enter (I dont remember what it was at the time back in 2019and it was a very surreal feeling seeing the tall buildings amongst the tall trees. Almost like a small forest inside a city. The scenery was beautiful and it was a great way to start our morning. Hopefully the borders will open so I can go back here

Just about a 10 minute walk from Shinjuku station, this park should be a must visit for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of shopping for which Shinjuku is famous. Yes, it costs 500 yen for adults to enter, but to access these lawns, small woods, greenhouse, the Japanese gardens, and other features Id consider this a bargain! Just walking around and enjoying sitting on the lawn or a bench is a lovely way to spend a morning or afternoon and recharge - many people will pick up food for a picnic on the way from the station. Inside, the park is very well signposted, and points of historical interest have information in English. This provision of information extends down to trees and plants being labelled, even in the main park. The whole place is usually spotlessly clean, and one of the few public places that still has rubbish bins. There are vending machines, as well as a shop selling traditional Japanese desserts. Toilets are free, modern, quite clean and have soap dispensers. Just remember to check the opening hours, as the park closes in the afternoon!

Visited the garden at the height of sakura blossoms. They do require you to pay for your ticket online before entering the park and also reserve a time. Only 2,000 people can be in the park at anytime which means you could be waiting until people exit. A lot of families were conducting hanami under the trees. The trees themselves are amazingly old and beautiful. It was worth the ¥500 entry fee.

We love this park and spent a lot of time there picnicking with our kids years ago, but because Covid has caused us to curtail our visits to crowded places over the past couple years, returning yesterday to wander among the cherries in full bloom on a warm spring day was even more delightful than usual. They have raised the entrance fee to Y500, which seems pretty steep, but for those who live in the area, the Y2000 annual passport is a real steal - and it rids you of the need to make an online reservation to enter during the busy hanami season.

Shinjuku gyoen national garden is absolutely beautiful to spend time with family, kids and friends. In a beautiful sunny weather it’s the best options to relax and enjoy the beauty of flowers. The view of Sakura is mesmerizing, all the flowers are so beautiful that we can’t take our eyes off. It’s easily accessible from Shinjuku station or sendagaya station. There is a wheelchair parking available and lots of restrooms are also available.A large playground is the added advantage for children to play and enjoy. The glasshouse in the garden is absolutely gorgeous. There is a Thailand style small mansion that has a long history. The blossoms of the flowers is so magical.Visiting the garden in the morning time is beneficial as the crowd could be avoided. The lake view is beautiful, the cute little ducks 🦆 in the water so nice to see🥰.The ticket is only 500¥, it’s really worth the money we pay.I am planning to visit once again during the autumn 🍂.

The Central Park of Shinjuku. Definitely worth the visit if you need to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Paid entry required for adults.(+Lots of wide open space with different types of elements.(+Great for every season, not just spring.(+Starbucks on site. Limited indoor seating and not available on weekends.(+You are allowed in bring in drinks and food, but there are vending machines and little snack shops on the grounds if you need something.(+AMAZING spot for pictures of the famous NTT Docomo Building/ Tower.(-The garden has strict rules about what you CANNOT do in the park and on the grass. Basically, youre not allowed to "play" anywhere. No soccer balls, frisbees, or sports equipment.

Shinjuku Gyo-en is a large park and garden in Shinjuku and Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. It was originally a residence of the Naitō family in the Edo period. Afterwards, it became a garden under the management of the Imperial Household Agency of Japan. It is now a national park under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Environment. The garden has more than 20,000 trees, including approximately 1,500 cherry trees which bloom from late March (Shidare or Weeping Cherry), to early April (Somei or Tokyo Cherry), and on to late April. Other trees found here include the majestic Himalayan cedars, which soar above the rest of the trees in the park, tulip trees, cypresses, and plane trees, which were first planted in Japan in the Imperial Gardens. The garden has three access gates: Shinjuku Gate, Okido Gate and Sendagaya Gate. Shinjuku Gyoen is open from 9:00 until 16:30. On Mondays the garden is closed, except during the cherry blossom and chrysanthemum seasons: late March–late April and early November respectively, when the garden is open seven days a week. The greenhouse is open from 9:30 until 16:00. The last admission is 16:00.

Nice place to see all seasons I guess!! This is the first time we were there for hanami (viewing cherry blossom). Its a big park. Now due to corona you need to reserve a slot prior. It opens at 9am and closes at 5pm. You can spend whole day there. Kids can play in the reserved area only. We carried our own food but there are many cafes, snack spots and vending machines. Public restrooms are there.

Beautiful Garden. Worth a visit.Ticket costs about 350 yen per person for adults to visit the garden.Have beautiful views inside, snack palces, Starbucks and lot more inside the garden itself if you are hungry.Feel the freshness of the air and the environment itself inside the garden. We can enjoy time on green grass, sit or lay around. Would be best if visited around spring due to colorful appearance with wonderful flowers in the garden.
