73-161 Country Club Dr, Palm Desert, CA 92260, United States, Rancho Mirage
NYC-style deli serving kosher fare from morning to night, with specialty cakes & other baked goods.
I love this place! It was my first time in palms springs and we had dinner at Shermans. It has a classic retro feel with pictures of celebrities that have visited. Their bakery was insane. The desserts all looked too good to just choose one. I had a tuna melt and loved it. Will definitely come back.
Always great food here. We got a traditional reuben and a triple decker club with potato salad. Yum. Recommended if you are hungry and want good, satidfying food
Quality meat but that’s about the only favorable aspect. Low rating because the pastrami was picked from the “hot” sandwiches menu but I ended up with some limp sourdough and dry pastrami. No sauerkraut, mustard, mayo (unlikely but who knows), whatever you might think is typical of a pastrami (especially a hot one). Why didn’t I ask for it? The menu said it was their favorite so I thought they’d like a good one too. Definitely not a nearly $20 sandwich. I also had a nearly $20 chicken salad sandwich that was about as exciting as corn flakes (with milk).
If you are disappointed with local big name restaurants, then youd find eating at Shermans comforting and satisfying. From corned beef sandwiches, chopped liver, latkas to matzo ball soup, just like in New York. The only different is the super friendly and helpful waiting staff.
Amazing sandwich! #17 "The Special"- a triple decker with pastrami and turkey piled high with coleslaw and 1000 Island dressing. I could barely eat half!
Hope you’re hungry! I can always finish my meal, except here. Many choices including not-your-usuals. Stuffed Cabbage. Who knew? Smoked fish. Real Pastrami. Fair prices too. And dessert - get that OR dinner. Not both.
The pastrami was amazing! Service was great. And the cheesecake was sooo good! Will return next time in Cali.
I was attending a conference nearby at the convention center, and a lot of the people attending were RAVING about this place, so of course I had to drop by and see what all the talk was about. It reminded me of a NY deli, with the menu consisting mainly of sandwiches and paninis, matzo ball soup, salads, and an extensive dessert bakery menu. The reuben sandwich I ordered was phenomenal! My friend ordered a club sandwich, and it was bigger than the club itself lol. The sandwich literally was about 8 inches tall if not more haha, just stacked with meat! The flavors and taste were authentic and fresh, and you just wait until I start talking desserts. So onto the desserts! Like I said they have an extensive, solely dedicated menu just for desserts they include cakes, pies, cookies, and even cannolis. I just tried the German chocolate cake, and I almost went to heaven it was so damn good. My mom ordered the lemon cake which also looked AMAZING, and our friend got the chocolate dome cake which had 3 different kinds of chocolates (white, milk, and Im gonna assume darklayered between each slice of cake. I swear if I lived in Palm Springs Id go there at least 3 times a week to keep trying their food and desserts. This is a DEFINITE go to spot if youre local to the area or just traveling.
This place is so good. First, the menu is huge. Anything you order will be one of the best versions of that dish available. The weights can be a little bit long, but the restaurant is big, and they have a lot of tables. The service is friendly and efficient, and as accommodating to large parties as they can be. I had the Reuben. It was delicious. I wish I had more time in town to eat here again.
Classic diner with a menu that fits a New York style Jewish, deli. Great service and huge menu. Keeping it simple, I went with corned beef and eggs. Omg the deserts...
This is like a New York deli and very old school vibe. Food is good and they give you huge portions. Great dessert too.
Just got some pie to go.... if you like cake/pies, and cookies, this is a must. Fresh and friendly staff. Chocolate cream pie was my choice and its fantastic. Lots of seating, old school diner vibe.
Excellent!! Local deli place with large portions. I ordered the pastrami sandwich which did not disappoint. It’s pricey, $20 for a sandwich but it’s worth it. They also have homemade cakes and desserts. The salads which other people were ordering looked huge.
New York style diner - I had the matza ball chicken soup, potato pancakes and this beautiful pistachio cake. My husband loved his pastrami sandwich.
WOW! Pastrami sandwich of my dreams!! Had to visit this landmark NYC Style Deli while in Palm Springs. I ordered the Triple Decker (grilledwith Pastrami on Top and Corned Beef on the Bottom. Served with Sauerkraut and Thousand Island Dressing. It was amazing and so tasty, but if I would order it again I would just get the pastrami as the corned beef had a lot of fat in it. Wait time was about 5 minutes despite arriving at peak lunch time on a busy Saturday. Sandwiches are about $22 a pop but you will definitely have leftovers! My husband ordered the Pastrami Rueben grilled and he loved it. After eating only half of my sandwich I was full for the whole day! Lol. A must when in Palm Springs!
I had pasta, was the worst Ive had in a long time. No body in our group of Seven thought the food was good. We wont go back. The waitress was excellent, the rest was a waste , cant recommend
Update 2022-08-06: Its the hot summertime here (111° F right now). But, although not real crowded, there were plenty of seats with no wait. Wait staff are very nice and attentive. The order arrived quickly and was the same high quality. Same menu but slightly higher prices 🙄. I had the two knockwurst with baked beans and potato salad, and iced tea. My partner had the pastrami sandwich with coleslaw and hot tea. As always, highly recommended.Very good place to eat in PS. Very good food and service. Good "Jewish Style" (not Koshermenu serving breakfast lunch and dinner. Sunday breakfast has been very crowded in the past but I dont know if it still is. I was there for lunch and it was full but not a long wait. Very good Early Dinner Specials. Great desserts to choose from. Dinners in the past were big portions. Dont know now since a lot of places cut back after reopening after the pandemic. Inside and outside dining. Plenty of parking.
Shermans is always worth a visit when youre in Palm Springs. This place can get crowded during peak times (like any good spot in Palm Springs). They have good service, a great selection of bakery items (try the carrot cake), and amazingly generously-sized sandwiches.
Never have I had a bad meal here. Today got bold and tried the all meats sandwich. “Shorty” was shocked I finished it but had to, it was to good. She was an awesome server as well. Can’t wait for the next visit!
The #17 was actually three sandwiches stacked on top of each other. It was delicious but a crazy amount of food. My favorite layer was the corned beef but all were good. The Cole slaw was fantastic! I really want more of that stuff.Pastries looked amazing but I was too full to try any. I really wanted several of them, though.
Bring your appitite since the food portions are large and enough to split. I order a salad and half sandwich and it was very good. My daughter orderd the pastrami sandwich with a side of fries and it was a huge serving of meat on a soft bread roll with melted cheese. The true winner was the pickles they quickly bring to your table as soon as you sit down, they are delicious!!! You can also purchase them to go and we sure did 😉We also had a visit from the owner Sam he was very kind and he made sure we enjoyed our meal.
Stopped in before seeing a movie. Had a chicken salad sandwich which was tasty but sort of plain. My hubby had a very large Greek salad he enjoyed; fresh and satisfying. My dad had a Ruben sandwich he said was good but missing the thousand island sauce. Service was good. Dont miss the bakery, we got goodies for the movie, yum. Recommend the chocolate chip cookies and muffins. Everything looks yummy though.
Holy wow!!!! It is literally like eating deli food in nyc. Everything is perfect and just like in NYC they are fast.Sherman’s is a must do for lunch or breakfast when in Palm Springs. The pastrami is to die for and the pastries are top notch. Just like Manhattan. I’m blown away. Love this!!!
A true Deli in every sense transported to the desert. Everything here is delicious, the Pastrami, the roast beef, the matzo ball soup, but save some space for dessert, they have some amazing variety. It is one of my Go-To spot and I never miss this piece of heaven when we are out by the Palms. A bit pricey thou but you get a lot meat and 100% you will not feel hungry afterwards. 2 locations in the desert!
The Best as always....My mom had the Lox Plate and I had an Open Face Hot Brisket No bread Awesome.... A lot of food for the money.. We got dessert to go. My mom got Boston Cream Pie and Me Black Forest Cake. All desserts made fresh by Baker Felix. Sam thank you for carrying on your Fatherslegacy. Should of took more photos.
It was hopping but we got a table right away and our food quickly too. Huge menu. Good size portions. Cake slices looked gigantic.
This place was recommended to us by a friend and it didnt disappoint. Good service. The sandwiches we had were amazing! Their bakery goods looked amazing but we were too full to buy shying anything. Maybe next time we stop.Highly recommend eating here!
My husband and I visited Palm Springs and stumbled upon Sherman’s because it was right across the street from our hotel—and it was the BEST food we had on our trip. The first sign that they were doing things right was when they brought a tray of fresh pickle spears to our table immediately. Then, I ordered the best turkey melt I’ve ever had. Finally, we saved room for their apple pie. Atmosphere is welcoming, staff makes you feel right at home.
This deli was amazing! Got here around the lunch rush and still managed to be seated very quickly and had friendly staff. The food was fantastic but prepare yourself for a lottttt of food. Unfortunately I was too full to try any of their pastries because they looked fantastic also.Just look at all that tasty meat! <3
Shermans is a great Deli restaurant located in Palm Springs. They do an awesome Pastrami sandwich and have a counter full of many cakes! Good value for money too, so would recommend if youre looking for a quick bite to eat!
A wonderful place to get breakfast, lunch, dinner or to just get a dessert. Indoor and outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Their desserts are phenomenal! Their food it wonderful too! Definitely a place to check out!
Iconic Restaurant/ Deli. Super great breakfast to start a full day of activity. Betty was a doll and really took care of us. Wonderful food!
Cute place. Food was so so. I ordered a turkey club and key lime pie. Sandwich was more than generous with turkey but the rye bread was thin and tasteless. Pie wasnt as sweet as I like it but was heaping with whipped cream.
Imagine a great NY deli without the Carnegie attitude and with reasonable prices. This place is great. We had 5 things across 4 meals (including chicken soup and a half sandwich), and everything was excellent.Pickles as you sit down, great corned beef, tuna melt, Ortega omelet, etc.
Do you like east coast delis that haven’t aged since the nineties? Then maybe you would like this restaurant. If you don’t then this place is mind numbingly overpriced, the food is average at best and the service is slow and incorrect (they didn’t get our four person order correct). The decor hasn’t aged since Seinfeld was on air and the food’s portions were a joke. If I pay 20 for a sandwich that thing better be piled as high as my head!
We love the pate. The pastrami sandwich was disappointing. I didnt care for the texture of the meat the sandwich needed sliced dill pickle in it with mustard and the rye bread was flimsy. I didnt really eat any of it. They do have a great assortment of desserts! With a dessert bar like that this place really needs to offer espresso and cappuccino..that would be heavenly!
Great service, but the food was bland. As someone from out of country, I was very excited to try a “New York” style deli for the first time. Unfortunately we found the roast beef to be incredibly bland - no seasoning whatsoever, and if there was a sauce on the bread, you couldn’t tell - tomato/lettuce just added to the blandness.Giving a 3/5 as our server was quick and attentive, and the corned beef latke was alright.
Great spot in Palm Springs. I looked up the reviews and was not disappointed. Service was very friendly. I had the half soup and half sandwich. I chose the Chicken noodle soup and the chicken salad sandwich. The meal included a side of either potato salad or Coleslaw. I chose the potato salad. The potato salad was the only thing I was not a fan of. I love me some potato salad but not this one. The deserts all looked good but did not try.
Decided to stop by after seeing Sherman’s listed on so many Palm Springs must eat lists. The Pastrami definitely doesn’t disappoint! It was an excellent lunch stop and I would 💯 come back for what looked like many other mouth watering options.
A traditional “meat and 3” type restaurant is almost never on our plan. But this one is worth making an exception for. We went because it was convenient to our hotel (and got good reviews). And left feeling fortunate to have stumbled on it! Salads were fresh, with delicious dressings. My chicken and rib combo was outstanding - both meats as tender and flavorful as I could have hoped for. My wife’s piccata tilapia (what a neat idea!was likewise delicious. But the coup de grace was the carrot cake cheesecake. Massive, sweet, and absolutely delicious (picture is in a to go container, because we were too full to eat it at the restaurant!).I wish we had found this place a few nights ago. We would have gone back again for sure.
My partner and his family would not stop talking about this place and I had to check it out for myself. Let me tell you, it lives up to the hype. I had the ribs and they were fall off the bone delicious, but the brisket is also a sure winner! Didnt get a chance to try the cinnamon roll but the creme puff was amazing and HUGE!
Had a lovely Christmas Day brunch here. The service is fast and I devoured my Ortega omelette with green chiles inside. Sticky bun is massive and cools quickly if dining outdoors - best for sharing.
Its the real deal of an old fashion deli, but dont let their food theater fool you by piling most of the meat on some of their sandwiches towards the cut edge of the bread to make it look like its a lot more than it truly is. Dont get me wrong, the overall portion is very good sized, but its not quite as humongous as it might appear. Whats interesting about the place is, that its also a bakery too. You dont usually see these two different types of foods combined on one restaurant, and the good news is, they do both of them quite well. When back in town, I will surely return for another sandwich and other treats.
I have been telling friends to stop by if ever they are visiting or passing through the area. Fantastic service. A whopping big sandwich that was delicious down to the lettuce. And let me tell you that their cheese danish is outta this world. At the time (early October 2021proof of vaccination was required to sit inside. Sadly, that meant there was a line for patio dining while seating was immediate in the dining room. Look at the pictures of the pastrami sandwich. Look how ripe that tomato was. It was so delicious with the saltines of the meat. My wife and I shared the sandwich, each of us making three open face sandwiches. This place is a winner.
We enjoyed the outdoors, in their ample patio seating area as their menus and takeout containers blew all over the place during a rain, hail, and wind storm. It was a crazy storm that dropped the temp from 85 to 60, but their soup and sandwiches warmed us right up. The French dip was lean beef on a hearty baguette with fry circles and the half sandwich with soup is available day and night. We almost wore our neighbors leftovers as they flew off their table, across ours and off into the Palm Springs void that was the storm. The patio does have heaters, which helped us look less cold as those who dined inside look upon our less than advantageous choice for deli dinner al fresco. As my empty beer bottle and my partners wine glass became unstable objects like everything else that wasnt tied down, we devoted one hand to potential projectiles and the other to their tasty black and white cookies made fresh daily. Just before we paid our check and strategically place the tip, in cash, under a hefty pile of condiments, we ordered a couple bagels and cream cheese for the next days breakfast, which made for a great travel companion on our way out of town. Not one dull moment or flavor at Shermans. We highly recommend it, especially during those rare weather events in the desert.
Wow, we almost missed this awesome place. We are happy that we found this place. Huge meals and you wont ever regret for dine-in here. And I should say this, Martie (I think I got her name correctlyshe brought the whole experience into next level. You definitely definitely go to this place at least once if you in Palm Springs, CAKeep in mind this place is super busy but you will get a chance to have the taste of it.
Shermans Dell and Bakery was a treasure! Marti was our waitress and she was absolutely on top of everything. She refilled drinks at just the right time, cleared away dishes, and gave us hints about local things of interest to us while spending just the right amount of time at our table.I ordered the Ortega Omelette. It was delicious! I was worried it would be too spicy, but it was very mild. My family mostly ordered breakfast, which was of reasonable proportions. If you want sandwiches, though, be ready. The amount of pastrami we saw on some of the sandwiches would definitely be more than a meal for most! Every table gets an appetizer plate of pickles! Wish we were there longer to enjoy the dessert menu. It was extensive and a clear draw for customers.Looking around the decor inside, you will see many legendary stars with signed photos that make the restaurant that much more interesting. Indoor and outdoor seating available! It looked packed, but we got right in and the service was quick! Wed go back!
It was a bit crowded but we were seated less than ten minutes. The portions were huge, the pastrami was very tender and loved the matzo ball soup. The service was super friendly. I love this place!
Sandwiches are delicious here!!! I devoured the Sherman cheesesteak! They serve BIG portions and the staff worked great together! Very enjoyable, first time experience! Definitely will come back! Oh, can’t forget the extraordinary desserts on display!!! The cakes are out of this world!! Super Moist, fluffy and iced to perfection! ❤️👌🔥😁
Best pastrami sandwiches in southern california! Ive tried all the pastrami and corned beef places cross Southern California and this one is the top dog. The flavor of their meat absolutely delicious the bread is fresh and cook just right. I had the fries as a side and they were excellent. The restaurant was very clean and updated. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Their dessert section was something to write home about. They had the most amazing looking desserts. The portions are huge. I did not have any of the desserts but they were selling a lot of them. As far as the pastrami and corned beef sandwich I had, it was one of the best Ive ever had. Check this place out you will definitely not be disappointed. This is a deli that takes pride in the food that they serve and it shows in the final product. Sometimes I have to drive 20 miles out of my way to get here, but its totally worth it for me. One real fun aspect of this deli is backed by the bathrooms they have autographed and personalized photos from pretty much every major celebrity an athlete whos ever gone through Palm springs.
