10 Northumberland St, Charing Cross, London WC2N 5DB, Kinkala
Traditional pub with Holmes-themed memorabilia, plus restaurant and roof garden.
We were drawn in by the name (big Sherlock Homes fansand impressed by the menu, but the service from Eli puts this review over the top.Ambiance, attention to detail, and of course taste sets this restaurant apart from anything else in the area. Eli was an attentive, accommodating, knowledgeable, and all-around fantastic host (the title server doesnt do the job justice). 100% recommend if you are looking for an amazing meal wrapped in a fantastic dining experience.
One of the authentic London bars with the respective atmosphere. Pretty crowded, its not easy to get a place in a rush hours, however you can grab a beer and sit outside, if its not raining. Chicken wings and chips were perfect.
We stopped for a few drinks in great little bar. Apx £14 for a double gin and a pint of larger
Great atmosphere and solid beer lineup. Great little stop while walking around London.
We were served by Eli. They were very friendly and there was NO PROBLEMS ordering our drinks. Thank you Eli for the awesome customer service.
Great pub with many beers to try. Expect to pay around 7-8 pounds per pint
Lovely bar in a prime location. Only stayed for 1 drink, managed to get a table at 7pm.
Good food served swiftly in quirky surroundings. I would recommend it as a pre theatre lunch venue.
A great touristy restaurant close to a number of other good destinations. The fare was priced well enough for being in the middle of London. Staff was full of friendly folks that took good care of us in the bar area while we waited for restaurant seating.
Cozy but needs more outdoor seating. A good place to go to after work. It was about 12.50 for a gin and tonic and Coke Zero. Can be quite busy after work so be prepared to stand outside.
Service took a LONG time first time round and the staff didn’t seem to have any awareness of who was next to be served. After finally getting our first drinks we enjoyed them and laid up our empties ready for a second. After 20 minutes of chatting with empties in front of us and never once being offered another I finally had draw the attention of one of the staff who proceeded to be rather rude and tell me a couple who were still in the process of taking their seat were there first… the pub itself and the selection of drinks available are good but the staff left a lot to be desired!
Great place to be at. The staff were really friendly and helpful. They were able to accommodate a group thats relatively big at such short notice and food was really nice too. The food did unfortunately take a while but maybe due to high number during the order as it all came together (should be okay in smaller groups). Good selection of beers on tap too. Would highly recommend :)
very bad, the large portion of fish and chips came with a small steak and very poorly done, few potatoes. High price for a small and poorly made potion… our portion looked like the leftover food from the kitchen
Ordered Steak and Ale pie. Enough food to easily split. Decent beverage selection, but they were having tech problems when we were there and had a limited beverage selection.
Very good pub and worth to visit. A lot of different good beers, friendly service and very nice atmosphere.Awesome place 👍🍺
This is a must go to pub. By trafalgar Square.Staff is amazing, with a good selection of beer on tap.
Great foods. No Alcohol served up in the restaurant. Just fyi. We did not have reservations but they accommodated us with no problems. Just ask....delicious menu.
Nice but average London pub. Stopped in for a drink. No particular issues but given the glowing review I was expecting to be blown away but it was just an average pub in my opinion - not bad but I would not say particularly going out of your way to find since there are so many other pubs in the area that I would prefer. It was really busy, many tourists. We were able to find a seat at the bar. Some TV screen were playing old Sherlock Holmes b&w movies to add on to the theme. Here was a nice leather high walled seating area to one side.
The Sherlock Holmes Public House on Northumberland Street London is a great pub to drop in for either drinks or to dine. This recent visit was the second time we have been to The Sherlock. Our first visit back in January was to dine upstairs and our most recent in July was simply for drinks sat outside in the sun.Considering it’s central location it is without doubt very popular however, quite serene and peaceful even when sitting outside.A very charming and historic venue with great staff, food, drinks and all round ambiance.Limited photos that don’t do the place justice but will give a good feel for what it’s about.Go to The Sherlock, you won’t be disappointed.
Lovely pub. Friendly. Good food. Good price. God service. Gets VERY busy at lunch times but you can book ahead.
Amazing atmosphere and excellent eats.I (of coursedid the fish and chips and it was so good!Definitely a highlight of our trip. Will go back if we’re in town again!
A decent sized pub run by the Greene king company with a Sherlock Holms theme, its what you expect in term of pricing for a city pub but does offer a good selection of drinks and food with friendly staff, merchandise on sale with different pricing for a good take home souvenir, only downside is the graffiti in the mens toilets, will come back here soon.
Make a reservation ahead of time, this pub gets really busy! The food is delicious and just what we needed after a rainy day. We got some scotch eggs and a steak and kidney pie with mash. Very filling! To top it off, they have a great selection of beers and ciders. We got a ginger beer and mango cider which was amazing!Lots of Sherlock Holmes themed posters around the pub. Fun place to get a beer!
Had a lovely fathers day surprise here. The atmosphere is wonderful and the service good.Joe, our waiter, was particularly good. The food is good basic British food. Which is what you would expect in such a British Icon of a pub.The only downside was, the potion of chips and mashed potatoes we received were really small.
The best fish and chips ever…If you ate fish and chips and didn’t like it, probably didn’t eat in Sherlock Holmes. I also recommend you to drink a shandy with it.It has also a Sherlock Holmes room that has some stuff belongs to Sherlock.
Amazing pub! Good atmosphere, great tap selection and snacks! The staff are very friendly and it’s such a cozy vibe.
Great themed pub, a jewel in the heart of the city - a must see for any Sherlock, Conan Doyle Fan - Friendly staff reasonably priced drinks 👌🏼
Ye olde British pub. Love it. Some “memorabilia” too. Popular place. You can sit outside in the warmer months
Always a great time, bustling atmosphere and friendly, chatty staff. Tall younger lad behind the bar is a laugh and always remembers my order; though the rest of the staff are quality too. Being a Greene King member of staff I visit a lot of them (with mixed experiences, have had some very poor service at a fewbut this place is up there with the best, definitely my go to whenever Im in the area. Keep it up 👍
We were vacationing in London from the US and this pub was recommended by some friends. We really enjoyed the price, food, atmosphere and service and interesting focus (Holmes). The location is quite handy for many of the common things to do in London (Trafalgar Square, National Gallery, etcthere is a small museum upstairs where they’ve put together a room that is kind of a free mini-museum for Holmes fans.We recommend it as a place to go, especially if you or your kids are Sherlock fans. The pace was not rushed, so if you want to take a load off for a bit in a busy part of town, this is a good one. Also, you can make online reservations easily, which can be good insurance if you are there at a busy time.
Food was good and super friendly staff. We had the Big Fish and Chips and the portion was more than enough for 2pax.
Loved this place! Visited twice in two days because there were too many amazing things on the menu to try!🐟🍟The first time I had the big fish and chips portion, which came with pickled onions, peas, curry and tartare sauces and felt like a truly authentic gourmet experience.🫓 The second time I tried one of their pies (their prideand oh dear, Im still dreaming about it! The chicken and mushroom pie had the most flavourful filling Id tried so far in London.🍹 Both times were accompanied by the most delicious Pink Beefeater and lemonade cocktail! The place is comfortable and cosy, there are tall and regular tables, as well as outdoor seating.🔎 On the second floor, you can see Sherlock Holmess room!🚻 Accessible toilet♿ Generally accessible, except the second floor💳 Card payment at the bar
Nice pub with friendly staff. Has a good selection of beers, spirits and wine. Also serves food. As name of pub suggests its a Sherlock Holmes themed pub too with Sherlock Holmes decor
Nice small cozy local pub, beer is warm and flat enough as we like it in London. The food is typical from this kind of pub, the fish and chips and the kidney pie were good. But the ambiance is what makes this place shine. The waiters are super busy but charming. I really get the English pub experience I was looking for, I would definitely recommend.
As a life long fan of Sherlock Holmes it was inevitable i would be popping into the " Sherlock Holmes " themed pub. Just a short walk away from the hustle and bustle of Trafalgar Square, this is a gem of a pub. The decor is tastefully done with various posters, Pictures and memorabilia of the legend that is Sherlock Holmes. The music is at the right level to enable you to have a conversation without shouting to each other. The TVs on the wall show some of the classic Sherlock Holmes movies. The staff are a credit to the establishment, polite, attentive and nothing was too much. Our food was amazing and the triple cooked chips and onion rings were to die for! The best pub food i have had by far for many a long time. The restaurant upstairs carries On the theme and there is a lovely display depicting 221b Baker St ( living room of Mr Holmes i was disappointed that they had no fridge magnets left, but its a good excuse to go back to this wonderful place. If you are in the area, do yourself a favour and pop in and sample the hospitality and ambience, you wont be disappointed.
Loved the atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and wonderful. Food was very good also. We visited on a Sunday evening and the pub was still crowded, and we were lucky to get a table. Restaurant upstairs was full. We ordered full dinners in the pub and loved them. Highly recommend and would eat here again.
Nice welcoming pub with delicious traditional food on the menu. By the name and location, I was expecting somewhat of a touristy feel, but it was refreshingly warm inside with a great crowd and friendly service. Highly recommend the Sherlock Holmes ale.
Visit the quirky pub to satisfy your fascination with the worlds famous detective... Sherlock Holmes. They have a room on the 2nd floor with Sherlock Holmes themed items and memorabilia.A good selection of food is on the menu. It is a traditional pub so expect a lot of socializing and drinks around, but if you just fancy a bite, book a table youll have a quiet spot to enjoy your meal upstairs. The staff were accomodating and friendly. Not bad to complete your Sherlock Holmes experience...
Only stayed for one beer but all the staff were great. We took a look upstairs in the restaurant and the lad working up there was so friendly, even though we were not eating.
The service was on point. I was welcomed and looked after. My meal come quickly after ordering and it was absolutely delicious. Not only was the portion size huge, it was flavoursome. The cider and cocktail I ordered was tasty as well. The atmosphere and the ambiance interesting. I would definitely recommend this pub to those who want a great meal.
I brought family here while they were visiting London, and they loved it! For a pub geared to tourists, the food was actually very good. The portions were large and the prices were very fair for London. Definitely will be back soon!
Nice and comfortable place specially on 1st floor, where is the restaurant. The waiter was nice and polite. In first moment was a mistake with the wine that we order, and on the end he found that the wine that we ordered was out of stock, but he recommended other that we enjoy. The food was OK but we think that need a bit changes.
This place is amazing. Food is great and a good price. Service was fantastic will definitely be going again. Some great sherlock Holmes memorabilia too.
While in London during a "walkabout" we spied this place. Had a GREAT time!! Other patrons were so fun but the star was the fish and chips. Soooo good. Authentic, huge and so well prepared. You want proper fish and chips go here. You will not be disappointed. Im going back everytime Im in London.
A proper boozer - a good atmosphere and traditional Sherlock Holmes themed decor. Was a little bit scruffy though. I did not eat there but other people were and the food looked decent. Prices of drinks were reasonable for the location
The restaurant upstairs is super nice and cozy. There are lots of of Sherlock Holmes related decorations. I love the food. Mac and cheese was delicious. The service is good as well.
The food here is excellent and cheaper that most in the area. The interior is very well decorated with a Sherlock Holmes theme.I would hold off next time in alcohol drinks as just for the two of us was the cost of a meal.We had sausage/mash and 8oz steak with two vodka and Cokes and came to £40.Location for us was perfect with been just over the road from our hotel. The restaurant is upstairs which is better than in the bar area if you was a proper evening meal experience. They do have an app if you want to book a table or place your order. Look them up on Google maps where you will get the web link and contact details.Overall we would eat here again if we return to London.
The food was really good, and a reasonable price for the area. The staff were helpful when it came to redeeming a gift card. The service was pretty quick. Its a shame the upstairs was closed when we went as that is more themed. But I would recommend this place for a good priced drink and bite to eat.
Great pub in the centre of London with great character and great decor. It really is a pretty pub with lovely flowers outside. The prices here are cheaper than most pubs in the area and the food was fantastic. We had a cheese toastie and hunters chicken toastie, both were a good size and good value for money.I will definately return and would highly recommend this pub.
Great little pub in Central London. Service was very quick and they had a nice range of beers including a house beer. This was unfortunately unavailable when I went. The pub has outdoor and indoor seating. All the staff were helpful and I hope to return next time I am in that part of town.
