1/69 Mitchell St, Darwin City NT 0820, Australia, Darwin
Traditional Irish pub with wooden decor, offering hearty meals, live music & weekly karaoke.
Great place to drop in to escape the heat, sat right near the fan, lifesaver! Staff were good, had the Garlic Prawn Pizza, that good I forgot to take a photo. Here for a week so will pop in for an $18 lunch.
I had a chicken parmigiana it was great it’s a very cozy bar and the people are very friendly even though I’m from Geelong but it gets very busy
I ordered angus rump Medium Rare from Uber eater, but it looked and tasted like over well-done.
Great place for a drink and a chat plenty of Atmosphere well worth a visit and a drink 👍
Do recommend visiting on a Tuesday for trivia night. Food was reasonably priced. Pepperoni pizza was very good but do recommend it as a share between 2. Others said Steak was good. Drinks were a little pricey at $5 a glass of coke.
Loved the pork belly, crisp skin and all meat, fabulous atmosphere. Cold beer....
There was some Shenannigans while I was there but the security and wait staff handled them very well. Great place to have a few drinks right in the heart of the city.
Fun place to watch the AFL finals.G&T was great.Food was average!Staff were excellent, very good service
Sign at the front showed $7 pints from 4pm, happy hour. Problem is that staff said it goes till 7pm which is shown on the sign, not. Other than that not a bad place just fix your sign.
Leanne and Shags, 5 Stars, bloody magic lunch time meal today. Thats the Shags weve come to love over the years, your loyal customers are back, great staff, great atmosphere and anyone coming to Darwin must come to Shags, best bloody pub in town.
Brilliant, best pub in Darwin. Happy hour from 4 to 7. Fantastic atmosphere.
This a fantastic place to come and unwind, lots of beers on tap, they have a fantastic menu, and the crispy pork belly is to die for. Can get busy as the evening goes on, great place to watch sport on the big screen, 👍 big thumbs up from me.
Only place we walked into in Darwin that was rude and didn’t have customer service. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with ‘SIGN IN’ which we did then my husband was having a look at the drinks and happened to look at the happy our menu, to which the waiter said ‘that’s at 4!’ Which was an hour away, but he was just looking as it was beginning of our holiday and wanted to see what they had to offer. We didn’t get a how are you or what would you like? So we left and went to The Tap instead across the road.
Awesome place for a drink on a Sunday afternoon. Highly recommend
Top Guinness a loverly drop at any hours there open ,Leeane Yorkshire girls & darling Laura staff all a great crew filling your empty glasses up drop in & enjoy the experience.loved it every day!!
Music and atmosphere was great the only disappointmwent was the share plate there were 4 of us and only one small piece of barramundi and way to many chips
Last weekend I went to Shenanigans and had such a good time. Great service with a smile from the bartender Lisa. And amazing food with some good music
Why advertise 2 for 1 curries for $20 and then want to charge $15 for 1. Really disappointing.UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE!!!!!Instead of a generic reply, try fixing your websites advertisingPs even one of your staff said we were the third group today to ask about this offer.
This place use to be my favs for a go to pub lunch. But today very disappointed , my husband and I ordered both parmi, we paid three dollars more than usual, we thought “well everything is going up” so that was fine. But food came , half a size than we normally get, and it was burned , and chips taste horrible and burned as well. The size of the side salad is a very small portion as well.
Great atmosphere, great food and great bar staff who are always so friendly
Amazing! Me and my friends spent a week in Darwin and couldn’t believe this hidden gem was located here.. we ended up coming back each night and it was as lively on a Tuesday night, as a Saturday night! Barmaid Elise and the Irish guy with a snap back on were very friendly / accommodating !
Happy hr 4-7pm. Didnt like my food. Atmosphere good
My husband told me that the Mens toilets are putrid and disgusting. Sloshing through urine entering the bathroom. Urine up the walls and floors drenched in urine. Stinks. Even when I went to use the ladies ~ you could smell the urine stench. Absolutely disgusting.. We moved across the road. Absolute filth.
Came into shags for a schooner and honestly changed my life. I won 10,000 on the pokies and now my kids can eat again. Also Oasis is the best Bartender by a country mile, he gave me everything I asked for and made for a truly unforgettable experience. We’ll done Shenannigans👏
I’ve recently walked the coastline of northern Australia, I was parched like you wouldn’t believe and shags was like an oasis in the desert when I met Niall he offered me loads of advice on the best kind of refreshment to have. Luckily he served me the best pint of Guinness I’ve ever had. Please give this man a medal if not from me but from the NT government.
Great atmosphere. No specific age group. Felt very relaxed here with my wife.
Absolutely great vibes for afternoon drinks and tunes. Cool, fun pub. 👍
Very nice outdoor seating with good live music, had the southern style fried chicken burger and it was great.👍
My wife had probably the best Guinness pie ever, I had the worst pizza ever, the crust was thin hard cardboard, my mistake but I would go back in a heartbeat. Fabulous atmosphere and friendly staff.
My son said the bangers and mash was the best he had ever had! My dinner was very enjoyable and the atmosphere was great.
Friendly Irish bar, manned by British backpackers i reckon! Friendly welcome and ice cold drinks. Meals are well priced with daily specials.
Sorry no photos were taken at this venue to protect the identity of every person in bar having the time of thier lives!! What an epic time we had from Wednesday to Sunday. Dance, drinks, food and of course the people. Everyone is so friendly and the staff are very efficient with the serviceGood times!!!
First time in Darwin and saw shenanigans so we thought we would check it out. Nice looking pub and we arrived in time for happy hour. Ordered dinner and I wanted to have garlic prawns as a main meal but they only had it in entree size so after a while it was sorted to get a main but it had to come with rice which I thought would have been a given even for an entree size . My friend ordered steak, anyway an hour went by so we asked how much longer and was told 5 to 10 minutes. When our food arrived I received a small bowl of prawns swimming in soupy garlic liquid and a separate bowl of rice and my friend received a charcoal bit of steak. We committed to a waitress who didn’t seem to care much and we left very disappointed. Thanks for replyingWe would like our money back
All day breakfast doesnt appear to mean all day. Ordered at 11.15 a.m. meal arrived at 12.15 p.m. Food was cold and hashbrowns were soggy and underdone. .Couldnt comment on staff as there was very little interaction.
Great pub for some drinks and shenanigans. Would recommend checking them out.
I mean who doesnt love an Irish themed pub? Drink specials aplenty, a good pour of the black velvety goodness and you had me. Worth a pint yourself..
Two ladies behind the bar, didnt get there names but they were lovely and friendly.we had a breakfast meal which was nice.went back at the night time for a drink and entertainment.good time all round 😀
Weekday lunches amazing, Parmy & Schooner for 15 bucks, portion size is amazing. Cant go wrong. Forgot to get a photo, because I was way too hungry
I worked in the kitchen of Shennanigans when it opened in 1994 or maybe it was 1995. Initially I did not get the job but convinced them to hire me by baking them a loaf of traditional Irish soda bread.Possibly one of the best times of my life. I learned how to cook, how to party and how to fall in love. Living in Ireland now, maybe I’ll get back to Darwin one day.
Great pork belly in a relaxed atmosphere (at noon).
Very high quality food. Much more like a restaurant than a pub when it comes to a meal. Friendly staff, and a fairly typical Irish pub setting. Worth eating here!
The place looks great, has all the ascetics of an Irish Pub. Meals were great, we both had a $15 lunch that came with a beer so they were good value, thought $11 was a bit over the top for a lemmon lime and bitters how ever it was good. You need to show proof of vaccination to go in, which is fine, they are strict on that.Only thing that let them down on the day was the 2 staff members all though they wernt rude as such, they did not at all seem happy to be there or to have to serve you, niether cracked any pleasantries or a smile, they just done there job.. not the norm youd expect in an Irish pub that was the only disappointment...maybe they were having a bad day
Atmosphere and bar good. Food disappointing. Steak sandwich slide apart as soon as you tried to pick it up. Too much filling for the small bread roll and too much mayo. Mozzarella belongs on pizzas not as a thick layer on a steak sandwich.
Been here at night plenty of times and always have a good time. Easy going mixed age crowd. What impressed me was the Thai beef salad I had for lunch. Sensational..!!!
Had a family dinner today, food was absolutely fantastic. Order some crocs bites for entree which was amazing. Pizza and seafood baskets were really good. Thank you shenanigans team for great service and great food , will be back with friends. You guys made our day ❤️
This is the best place in Darwin to have a Pub lunch $15 for a meal and a Schooner 425ml of beer.
Delicious food, tried some local cuisine, Crocodile, Crab, Calamari!Cold drinks 🥂 Easy ordering from app on your phone. Will certainly be back.
The best Irish style food Ive eaten outside of Dublin, with the best service Ive received anywhere. All the staff are friendly, helpful and beautiful on the eye. Wish I could have took the whole place with me when I left Darwin. The beer and choice of whiskey on offer is also fantastic, the best beer I had in town always ice cold and crisp actually better than the local back home. And great entertainment every night ranging from karaoke to live bands. If you go to Darwin and dont go to shennanigans even for just a beer your missing out.
A local pub located on the corner of Mitchell and Peel street. Everyday has a special, so glance over the week to find something that appeals to your taste buds. I find the fried seafood excellent, not greasy or oily, with a range of tasty treats. Staff are efficient but attitude could be improved. Just wash that Down with a cold one.
Had a great lunch there. Club sandwiches are huge. Good range of brews.Check this ! At 9.30pm we bought a loaf of bread, went to the pub for drink on the way home and the loaf of bread wasnt allowed in. Fair dinkum !! We explained the loaf wasnt loaded but no good. It had to go behind the till for us to enter. Weird eh ? We ate it this morning and it didnt explode. A pic of the dangerous loaf is attached.
