Shaver's Creek Environmental Center in State College

Great outdoor and indoor conservation center with really cool exhibits, aviary pens, and well paved walkways for handicap accessibility.

Everything about shavers creek environmental center was awesome. People very friendly. One guy came outside with us and explained about the birds. My children and grandchildren loved the trails. And baby turtles in a pond. Loved it.

Its a very nice place to see birds of prey up close and personal. The kids loved it!! They have a golden eagle and a bald eagle , several owls and so many more species of birds. reptiles and turtles. It is very educational. I recommend taking your family. Then they have many nature trails to explore.

A great local place to visit! The center is designed to give a hands-on approach to teaching the principles of environmental stewardship. A great place to bring kids. The programs that the center has are always fun and creative. Their annual maple syrup festival is a big draw and is worth checking out. Be sure to check out the eagles, hawks, and falcons in the aviary.

We took our Sr. High students here for an experiential trip and it was incredible! We were an unannounced small group but their staff were more than happy to accommodate and create a fun learning environment. The aviary was the highlight of the trip for the guys and we will definitely come back soon!

This is an incredible place. Families with kids could easily spend the full day exploring trails, learning about the animals, and bird watching. The staff are also very knowledgeable and eager to share. We learned a lot!And pack a lunch, as they have outdoor tables with beautiful views.

Awesome environmental center. They have reptiles and amphibians inside. Outside they have birds of prey in mews. Great for kids. They do tours.

Love taking the kiddos here! Great place to get outdoors and learn about nature, animals and the environment. The remodel to the center makes it even better! The animals are close enough to interact with and you can watch the birds get fed at certain times too which is really neat! And they have special activities at certain times/days too!

Raptor rehabilitation, indoor reptiles and amphibians, environmental information, and walking trails. Very nice place since resent remodel. Special events and Raptor presentations in the amphitheatre. Cool place!

This place is amazing! The facilities are super clean and state-of-the-art. The raptors on display are fabulous and give children a close-up view of these large, captivating birds rarely seen so close. The staff is helpful and friendly.Beyond the central facilities, this park offers miles of engaging hiking trails if all levels of difficulty and length. Weve been here twice with our family of six young kids and will definitely be back again.

Lovely (free!place for a visit, especially with kids who are big enough to explore the trails. I wish there were parking spaces reserved for people with kids closer to the center. I do miss some of the more interactive exhibits I remember when I visited as a kid.

The new raptor enclosures are really nice, very spacious and full of perches. The reptiles are housed in appropriate enclosures that are well-maintained and clean. Very impressed, will come back again.

This is a great place to hiking! Nice place to have your breakfast and go for a walk beside the water.

Went to enjoy the Halloween trail with our local cub scouts today. The trip was definitely worth it. The boys, leaders, and families all had fun. The information shared at the stations along the trail was educational and age appropriate. The costumes/ decorations and other activities available made it a fun filled afternoon. We will surely be back next year!

It is always a good day at Shavers Creek. One of my favorite places since visiting as a young child. The recent and on going upgrades have been thoughtfully consider and executed beautifully. I highly recommend coming out and experiencing all the environmental center and the surrounding forest has to offer. The biggest downside here is the limited parking.

Theres an outdoor aviary featuring eagles, vultures and owls, as well as several hiking trails offering pretty views of Lake Perez.

Such an awesome place. The raptors and birds of prey are phenomenal to see. The new ponds are excellent in the summer to watch the critters and interact with nature. The trail around the lake is a favorite of mine. An easy loop to enjoy an afternoon, whether sunshine or snow.

The Raptor Center was really cool. I enjoyed getting a close up look at these birds.

Its an amazing place! Free admission. Visit the Raptor Center with 20+ hawks, owls, eagles, falcons. Inside the Discovery Room, there are turtles, snakes, frogs and toads living with interactive exhibits. There are 25+ miles of hiking trails, and 8 designated sites where you can read "Creek Journals" that authors are contributing to over the next 100 years. This really is a place for Penn State students, also, who can take classes at the Center, contribute to the festivals, design exhibits, and all sorts of other things. CHECK IT OUT!

Lovely place--wonderful bird refuge, and beautiful scenery and hiking trails nearby. Ive been there on many a day trip and its an excellent retreat for an outdoorsy person. I fully intend to go again!
