I love coming to ShangHai Chan (aka Chans). I will tell you that its very hard to disappoint me with Chinese food. As long as its good Im a very happy gal. But I absolutely adore coming to ShangHai Chans for my favorite dish, which is the Singapore-style noodles. And dont get me wrong, thats a dish that normally two people could easily share: when it comes to my Singapore noodles, I just dont share. Oh, and you can always adjust the spice level of any dish to suit your palate.Try anything. I guarantee you wont go home disappointed or hungry. Appetizers are amazing.

Fantastic every time I come here. I drive 40+mins each way because it’s that good! Super crispy chicken, will modify plates per request(ex no veggies in fried riceetc.I recommend General Tso’s chicken, Sesame chicken, and the Sweet n Sour. Cream cheese wontons are addictive!

These dumplings are by far my favorite kind of dumplings, I searched many restaurants to find these dumplings since my old restaurant changed their recipes. Thank goodness that Chan, which is close to me, cooks these dumplings. Its cooked fresh and delicious.

Terrible. The worst House rice ever. Supposed to have 3 meats!! Do you see any meat? This cost me $17 with fried wontons.

Great restaurant with very friendly owners. They also make your food fresh and how you like it (I like mine with extra kickThey go above and beyond to retain customers and the food is great. Highly recommend.

Had sweet and sour chicken yesterday. Chicken was tough as leather. Even with the sauce it was terrible. My wife had the chicken chow mein. So bad she threw it out.Never again.

This restaurant is GROSS! Well the employee working there is. Last time When I went there with my co-worker/Friend to get something to eat for lunch,he didn’t wash his hands. He also,was itching his hair, then making the food, touch the food without any gloves on and to make it WORST THE EMPLOYEE TOUCH HIS NOSE! While continue making the food and put his hands all over the food without any gloves. This was my first time at the restaurant and would be my last! I throw my whole food away!People Stay away from this restaurant!

Worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Absolutely disgusting and disappointed

I got the extra spicy sesame chicken. It was all breading. The fried rice tasted as if it were just heated out of a package.

this guy works hard and always makes delicious food. love the thickness of the dough on the pot stickers and they always give us a free order of delicious fresh fried sweet sugar dough.

Ordered sweet n sour pork and chicken lo mein. Received sweet n sour chicken and chicken chow mein. While it wasnt what I ordered I accepted it anyway. Both were ok at best. The sweet n sour chicken was slightly overcooked and dry. The chicken chow mein lacked chicken, three tiny slivers. Sadly, a bit disappointing. I will give this place one more try...actually, after reading the reviews (my bad, should have done this firstI think a second trip will be a hard pass.

Great place for takeout! I ordered the Curry chicken and it had a nice mild heat level with a generous amount of chicken. The lady behind the counter was sweet as can be too.

I stop in here when I am in the town visiting family. Got the kung pow chicken, the sesame chicken, and fried rice. I got some surprise goodies as well that were delicious!!!! The food is always amazing. A meal here will leave your soul body and mind at ease. My wife says "you get a happy tummy from this place."

This has been my favorite place to get takeout ever since I was a kid. Growing up in Brooklyn park, anytime my family wanted Chinese food it was Chans. The quality is amazing, and I’ve tried several different places; Nothing compares. Recently I’ve moved back to the cities and I’ve stopped by to get my favorite chicken chow mein and some egg rolls. Alice was so nice and the food was ready within 10 minutes! It’s just as I remembered the food is amazing. Definitely will be coming back and ordering more.

If I could give 0 I would. Not authentic the cream cheese won tons were stale. Qe ordered the sweet and sour chicken and it didnt have any chicken just vegetables. The chicken fried rice also didnt have any chicken

Thought I would try a new Chinese place but found the food terrible. The chow mein was pasty and egg foo young was cooked to a crisp. Ended up throwing away $40 worth of unedible food. Hyvee has way better Asian food at the food court.

Came to pick up my order for the first time last night. I ordered the combination plate with lo mein and fried rice. The lo mein wasn’t that bad but the rice literally tasted like whoever was cooking in the kitchen was smoking cigarettes while preparing and cooking the food.

I have always wanted to visit place, and so glad I did. Not only was the server nice, especially since we stopped here on short notice. She was very accommodating, and gave us a minute or two to decide what to order. Even though we waited for like 10 minutes, it was worth it. Not only was the food cooked to order, but the portions were generous especially for the price I paid which only amounted to like $11 for my meal. Which is a pretty good price, especially with how good it was. Of course it would be good to back again sometime soon.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!! I went here today to get lunch and I was completely disappointed, the cleanliness of the restaurant was horrendous. With this pandemic going on you would think places would be a lot more cautious when dealing with others food. The cook had no gloves on, no mask on, and he was digging in his nose going right back to touching the food with no gloves!!! Hell no I got my money back and got tf up on!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND.. ts foul

Great little Chinese place with lots of traditional dishes. Been here quite a few times and they never disappoint. Everything is cooked fresh and made to order. Reasonably priced, especially with the lunch and dinner specials. Run by an Asian couple, a great small business thats holding their own.

Nope!! Stay away, she wasn’t wearing a mask, didn’t wash her hands before putting on gloves so she could grab our credit cards. Then didn’t wash her hands before cooking our food. The fried rice was days old, dry and flavorless. The sweet and sour chicken was rubbery with all breading and little meat. Cream cheese wontons were tiny!

Service was great, very large portions but wasnt impressed with the flavoring. Everything seemed to have the same base for the protein. It was my first time here so will try again.

Their House Egg Foo Young is the very best that my husband and I have ever had anywhere!!! Great taste, large portions at an excellent price, we will be back for more and their menu is now always in our glove box!!!!

Entrees are delicious. Had the sesame chicken. The brown rice on the side was nothing to brag about. Egg rolls are fabulous! Apparently the fried rice is good?

Just picked up a larger order yesterday. That was probably the freshest best tasting mix of food Ive had in a very long time from any similar place. These folks are always very kind and hard working to get orders out too. Chicken and beef cut right through with a fork and the shrimp was delicious as well. The cream cheese wontons are always good here as well.

I order sugar donuts, spicy beef fried rice and chicken wings. My totally came up to $19.52. The food was horrible it had a bitter taste to it. The beef fried rice had the thinnest strip of beef that looked like it was Fried with flour.The beef did not taste like beef and The wings was super bad as well. I would never go to this place again. I really want my $19.52 back. The food was not edible.

First (and lastvisit was last night. We did take out. While the portions are generous the prices are a bit high. More importantly both meals were thrown away shortly after the first bites. I ordered pork chow mein, a favorite of mine. Major disappointment. Pork was old and rancid (even smelled bad). Tried to remove the pork and consume what was left, but the odor was horrible. My wife ordered the Singapore special. It was equally terrible. Never again.

Great food and great service. Been eating here over 6 years and there food is always hot fresh and delicious with large portions. Don’t let that 1 star fool you. I have never once in 6 years had to wait longer then 15 min for food even when I have large orders.

Everytime my siblings and I go were always extremely happy with the food! The wait time is a little longer as its owned by a couple but its worth it. Theyre extremely kind people who made extremely delicious food!

I waited 40 minutes for take out. The food is sub par. Shrimp fried rice is sticky and even tho I paid $2 for extra shrimp there was barely any shrimp. The Egg Foo Young patties were burnt. the orange chicken was ok but Ive had better. I wont eat here again!!!!

First time getting take-out from here. It was delicious. Generous portions and the curry chicken had lots of crunchy vegetables. Will definitely eat here again!

Delicious, hot and fresh! Orange chicken was best Ive tasted. Better than my moms (who is from Taiwan). Will be back to try other dishes.

Wow very rude people I go there almost every week to order food for my family we almost get the same thing all the time except this time I tried their lo mein which was quite dry and very disgusting with very big thick noodles thats how they make it I understand also their fried rice was burnt disgusting I called back not even asking for a refund and I met with some rude rude lady on the phone who hung up on me if thats not bad customer service I dont know it is and I thought it was my duty to let as many people as I could know how disgusting the food was and how bad you tore the service was the woman who is sitting there eating when I walked in, everything was ready I came in sooner than she said itd be ready just to have my orange chicken cold and to have my rice burnt. Will never go back.

Wow. Couldnt believe it. I walk in to an empty restaurant. A woman sitting behind counter eating. They told me 20 mins.. I waited 45. For gross food that was inedible. Called back to complain just to be told no refund would be given and and that it is my fault for not liling their food. She insisted everything was made fresh but everything tasted as it were old food only reheated... What a horrible joke. Was very nice until I was met with such a disgusting attitude from owners. Will report them. I encourage all to stay away. Save your money and go elsewhere. We need something better in this area...Maybe banned to kick them out?

I ordered food for myself and two of my co workers (one whos birthday it isand when I arrived back to work from my lunch break, we tried eating our food...only to find out the rice was old, burnt, and dry tasting, the orange chicken was very dry, overcooked, or seemed to have been reheated, the egg foo young tasted like old nasty cooking grease and the veggies inside definitely were not fresh. I contacted them after we all discussed the food was not good for the price we paid. They could not understand English well so I informed them I would return once I got off work. I decided to take my 30 minute lunch break to go and take the food back because I wanted to purchase something some where else. When I walked in I let them know again I was not pleased with the food and would like to have my money back. They laughed in my face and argued that my co worker ate her 2-4 shrimp out of her orange chicken combo and I said I shouldnt have ate any of it if I wanted my money back. He continued stating they never had a complaint and theyve been there more than 10 years. The man decided to slam his hand on the counter still yelling that I needed to leave. The wife called the police and I patiently waited for them to do nothing but tell me to write a review since the man and wife declined to give me my money back. I am furious and this is very unacceptable!! Do not eat here!!!! Not to mention he told me 10 minutes on the phone but once we got there ,1 minute away, I still waited 20-25 minutes just to get this disgusting food. I will also be contacting the BBB. Youve been warned!!!

Ive been searching a while for a great Chinese place near me and this one is it! Great food, very fresh and the staff is great. Always comforting to see the kitchen when you walk in, unlike other places that dont want you seeing back there.

They had basically two people to make food for 7 orders. They told me it would take 25 minutes from the time I ordered. I arrived there 25 minutes later. 50 minutes later, still no food. Terrible service and deceitful promise.The food itself was okay, minimally better than some other Chinese places.

We went once and hesitate to go back. Both of us ordered meal that came with egg rolls we got home and no egg rolls and they were closed by that time. Food was average, he liked the fid more than I did. We might try a second time to give them another shot. I still drive to Que Viet in Brooklyn Center for my Asian food cravings, Vietnamese and Filipino food are my favorite Asian cuisines.

Very friendly staff. Large food quantities and the best prices on Chinese food around the area. Only notch is the dining area is a bit small and the re may be a reasonable wait time if you come during a busy lunch/dinner hour but overall this is one of my fav joints to hit up.

Absolutely tasteless other than grease and chow mein consisted of solely celery and a little chicken and didnt even send soy sauce to give it a tiny bit of taste. Same for fried rice and other dish that had curry(hot). Terrible and especially for $35. Sooo disappointed and was really looking forward to it.

-Fried rice was old, burnt, and dry.-Sweet and sour chicken was very dry and the fried shell seemed reheated.-Sweet and sour sauce was tasteless.-Their Chinese eggrolls are typical as always; just plain nasty and not so fresh veggies.-Their tap water was the worst I have ever tasted and had particles in it.-Customer service was ok.-Restroom was clean.-Fortune cookie was old because it didnt have a fresh crunch that you usually get with all fortune cookie.Overall, everything tasted like frozen food that was reheated.I barely finished 1/4 of the plate before throwing it all away. Just terrible all around.

This couple has been producing great food for the last 8 or so years this place has been open. Very consistent quality food that is made to order. You will have to wait around 15 minutes to get your food, so you should factor that in.

To start, sitting in the eating area you look up and the tiles are covered in dust. Obvious cleanliness isnt top priority.Food was okay but dry. Fried products were way over fried.Service was good, friendly staff.

Ive been here numerous times (most recent visit 5/2/16). They are consistent with the food they provide and the portions are fair.There is only two workers Ive seen there: the woman taking orders and the chef. The chef has not interacted with me at all during my visits. It may be due to a language barrier.

Surprisingly good. Not greasy like other takeout Chinese places. Food is three dimensional and well spiced (flavor). i.e. they put cumin in the egg rolls. Tiny bit pricier than our usual Chinese takeout, but the flavors more than make up for it. Our order was over forty and we got free complimentary doughnuts. Very friendly and good mom and pop feel. Great addition to the neighborhood.
