Shan Yoe Yar Restaurant - Restaurant in Thongwa, Myanmar
Available both buffet/meal set.You can find Shan traditional taste here. 👅👍🏾👍🏾
Warmly and good taste of shan traditional foods.
Buffet arrangement & service was terrible this morning. Probably will try A’ La Carte in future.
The building itself was amazing. The menu is same with other branches. Portion should be bigger for the price they charge. Seasonal fresh juice were pefect.
A very good place and tasty Shan traditional food. You should try.. we EBO students alumni team
One of the best places to enjoy authentic Burmese Cuisine. We went there for Sunday brunch. The staff was welcoming and helpful. They can speak a bit of English but tried their best top give us a lot of information on the dishes and helped us to understand the components of the dishes. They had a wide spread of food items. I loved especially the variety of sticky rice. Also, the shan noodles. Do visit this restaurant if you are in yangon.
One of the best places for Myanmar Shan food . Good decor , environment, staff and food .
Whenever I asked someone for a restaurant recommendation in Yangon, the answer was always ‘Shan Yoe Yar’.It’s definitely an expat and foreign hotspot but once you try the food, you can understand why. Despite being more expensive for local prices, it’s still inexpensive compared to what we pay in Sydney. Delicious food and friendly service
It was too difficult for us. We ordered what a waiter recommended to us. But food was too salty and too much fried. We barely touched it. Maybe this style food doesn’t works for us.Nice place and many local people.
I might expect too much. I order deep fried pork belly, deep fried tofu and minced pork with banana leaves. If you like pork fat, you would like deep fried pork. It was smelly and too much fat for me. Not my style. Deep fried tofu was nothing special. Minced pork with banana leaves was best for me. Looks more local food. They served sweet chilli sauce but I felt it was product. They put some chopped garlic in product sweet chilli sauce. Not really special. I felt their dishes were just expensive. I didnt feel their food touched high quality. Just expensive.
The best restaurant in Yangon. Great services and hospitality. Excellent tasty food.
Great for group dining and guests outside of Myanmar! I love the signature fish dish and deep fried pork belly. The interior of this restaurant is a beautiful restored home. This is the best of the Shan Yoe Yar branched!
The food is nice and its quite crowed. The restaurant is well decorated.
I came here reading the good reviews by fellow travellers. The food did not disappoint!I chose the vegetarian option of the lunch set menu and topped it up with some fried tofu made from chickpeas. The tofu was light and airy. The dishes of the set meal had a good balance between spicy and cooling. The set meal comes with a coffee or tea. Make sure you order it black if you are vegan / lactose-intolerant as it appears to come with milk.
Despite the fact that I sat in 3 different seats for one meal, I would certainly be back. Third seat took me further away from the drunken, loud table next to the first 2 seats. I had a sour vegetable soup so tasty, I came back the next day for more.
Amazing food! The shaanxi noodles were sooo good. Tea leaf salad was decent though not spicy enough
Not a bad place to try Shan cuisine. There’s English menu, friendly wait staff and somewhat clean. Do have a go if you are thinking of where to eat.
Great customer service, good food. Plenty of parking space and 3 staffs there greeted us with umbrella during rainy season.
Good ambience with nice posh interior. Expect high quality food and services with a higher price tag.
The first impression was not that good as per lunch serving. But their menu is full of good stuff. I highly recommend to try steamed fish from the healthy food menu chapter. Also waiters a pretty kind and trying to be fast, even though they are not much into the English. Overall good place to have a meal if you want to be safe the ingredients quality.
Food here is ok but I’m docking the rating due to really malicious service from the staff. I offered to pay by credit card and was told I can’t pay in MMK and can only pay by their exchange rate to USD. I was amenable and the receipt was brought back with a charge higher than the conversion. I was then informed that it was restaurant policy to round UPWARD (from 11.40 to 12.00which is a horribly sinister way of siphoning money away from customers. I was too exhausted to put up a fight but I’d avoid this place as much as i can.
Taste of Shan. Amazing food. Clean and hygienic
Good food and friendly staff. Shan food is one of my favourite cuisines in Myanmar, so this was the right place for me. A bit more expensive than other places, but still manageable. We came with a big group, but service was still speedy and good
This restaurant serves Shan food with a premium ambience & slightly premium price. The service was very good as they were very attentive.
Nice ambience, good variety of dishes at reasonable prices. Have patronised a few times. My family and friends like it.
Great taste to introduce our Shan State foods to Foreigners 😊
Friendly staffsGood foodEnough car parkingGreat Decoration ❤
Beautiful space with nice flavourful dishes that seemed authentic. Some great vegetarian options too.
No.1 restaurant in Myanmar Yangon.Do not hesitate to choose!!!
Must try if you come to Yangon! Shan food has a variety of very interesting methods to prepare and the outcome is amazing. Try their traditional tea, salads and mashed potatoes. 🌟
This restaurant can provide some local traditional food of Myanmar especially "Shan" tribes, one of the ethnic groups of EASTERN MYANMAR Region. Waiters and waitresses are welcoming and nice decoration with SHAN traditional dresses. The place is very clean.
Great, upmarket-ish place for local Shan food. Good to serve expat crowds for a local experience.
Delicious traditional Shan Food, Quiet Place, only price is bit expensive
Tasty local foods with reasonable price (for travelers). Each portion is big enough, so better not to order too much first.
Spacious restaurant with traditional Shan food, a la carte and buffet, good food. Good for groups, fast service. Nice wooden house.Beautiful upstairs area.
Delicious food. If you are from Mae Hong Son province and like its food, you will also like the origin Shan food here in Myanmar. The restaurant is proper. Suitable to bring parents/the elderly/family.
One of the most popular Burmese restaurants in Yangon. Located in a scenic location with extremely friendly service and heavenly taste food. All foods and drinks are craftily prepared and served. Top-notch and highly recommended!
We are from Singapore and the food doesn’t really suit our appetite. The papaya salad tasted very raw and it was too spicy. The bamboo shoot was the worst for us as it smelt really fishy, very unique taste that we are unable to appreciate. The veg and fried fish was good. Definitely overordered for 4 pax but wasn’t told by staffs. The good thing is the dishes are huge!
This restaurant is so traditional like a woodhouse. All waitresses wear a national dress. I ordered not a lot but all i tried are tasty and price is resonable. I do recommend you to go this restaurant if you go to yangon.
good food, but disappointing dessert. the second floor had too many mosquitos.
This is japan in yangon. Seriosly many japanese seems to come here. The food was good and the restaurant cozy, clean and very cooled so bring a shirt. Dont think i would go again - prefer something with a bit more local feel.
Great food and lively decor. Dont miss the fried egg with seafood. Also try out Myanmar wine.
Good Shan local foods. New branch just open at Sule Shangri-La Hotel. I recommend Fried-Egg with Seafood and steamed pork belly.
Good taste. Love the food. Reasonably priced. Friendly staff who are able to speak English. Drinks are a bit expensive though. Garlic clams, stir fried lotus, spicy catfish soup are my favorites.
One of the best Shan food restaurants in town, nice and clean. Its worth the price.
The best traditional restaurant in Myanmar, the staffs very friendly, delicious food. I will be back!
Love it. Came with local friends and they ordered the most delicious local dishes.
This restaurant gives you a home ambiance of colonial houses with traditional food. The service is superb! Waiters are very attentive to your orders and needs. Food is delish too. Ordered soft shell crabs, crispy pork belly and to our surprise the have a fluffy egg deep fried then sliced up to open like a lotus flower then sauteed seafood was poured in. A must when you go to Yangon.
I have been in this wonderful restaurant in February 2017. The owner of the restaurant was doing great efforts for serving delicious meals. In the end, he offered me a traditional tea to round up my dinner :I will come back, whenever my next chance brings me to Myanmar! Thank you for your great hospitality, my friend!
Great selection of healthy soup, good Shan noodle and lots of health veg. Recommend.
