Local spot for Indonesian curry chicken and fried beef ribs, with specialty fruit ice desserts.
The gado-gado is a shame to all Indonesians. They use iceberg and tomato slices, I think the peanut sauce was from peanut butter. not genuine gado-gado. Gado-gado is my familys fav so this was a huge disappointment.
So I stopped in at Shalom for a late dinner and I got to say the buntut was amazing I had a side of petai and durian shakeIt was so good I ordered to take stuff home so I could eat again tomorrowjust like somewhere you would eat in JakartaThanks Shalom
Great place! Taken there by my Indonesian colleague. Had the duck with hot and sour sauce. Well cooked food, quick service. Highly recommend.
My first time trying authentic Indonesian food like this in Sydney. I had a wonderful experience.
Probably one of the best and authentic Indonesian joint out of Indonesia itself! Awesome food, service and of course, the sambal!!
Food was tasty, good portion too. Ordered pempek and it came in a bowl, like a soup, which made the cucumber topping floata around, it would be better if it is served in a shallow plate. Ordered Yellow rice dish and Padang dish, not disappointed at all. The venue is small yet comfy, the staff were friendly and happy, can be a bit loud and rowdy when they chat and laugh in the kitchen area. Overall, good experience!
Super tasty and authentic Indonesian food. Been here for years and never disappoint. If you love spicy food , this is the right place. Always recommend Balinese grilled chicken , tong seng (lamb curry, tahu gejrot (tamarind sauce tofu), fried rice or Indonesian style noodle
lm not Indonesian, but my friend from Indonesia usually brings me to here. l think it must very popular to them. lt was very delicious.
It’s getting to be a habit for me to visit Shalom Indonesian Restaurant whenever I visit Sydney. Service is down to earth, similar to the type of service in restaurants or cafes in Indonesia. The meals are good - my go-to meal is the Empal Penyet, which is fried aromatic beef slice served with spicy chilli sauce and some steamed rice. I also usually order another side dish - you can’t just order one meal when you go there!
Love the happy soda. The Tempe and tofu. The beef rib is alright. The noodle is good too.
Had a lovely lunch here recently. The food is tasty and spicy! The food was really enjoyable. Pro tip get some of their sambal to take home, its spicy and funky (shrimp pasteand a great addition to the table. When we went there were a bunch of Indonesian ladies eating (always a good signand they all had at least 2 bottles to take home.
Tried the nasi ayam panggang timbel (rice with grilled chickenit was ok, the sambal was ok too.
Overall the food is quite good. The sate chicken is great. Chicken cooked perfectly and the peanut sauce is really good. The gado gado isnt too bad either.
The hottest Sambal the best Nasi goreng, the nicest people .. I love this place SO much, I come here SO much, and it never dissapoints.Indonesian food is crazy CrAzY flavoursome.Where else do you get such rich oooomph?Look at that depth that wealth of magic!!Sometimes there’s so much laughter here coming from the kitchen it’s wonderful. You know what they say, happy kitchen hoppy food. No I’ve never heard that saying eitherEating the nasi goreng With kurupuk is a must
Food was absolutely gorgeous and very flavoursome. My girlfriend and I had the chicken curry, pork cheek skewers, bamboo chicken and sticky rice. The food were very authentic and flavorful!
Cant get over how nice the food was. Except for chicken penyet. But iga, ikan gurami was amazing
Lexs takeaway dinner from @shalomindonesianrestaurant - really yummy yellow rice with fried chicken! The chicken was perfectly fried. Nice and crispy outside and tender on the inside. So good!
Food is really good spicy 🌶 and tasty we bought 3 different dish all of them are sooooo good and spicy 90 degrees 🥵🥵🥵My reason not giving 5 star is they can’t make any food for kids for not spicy cuz all spices already made so hope they will orgenise for kids meal in the future
I can say I am a regular customer of Shalom. I come here regularly since 2016. Very reasonable price. Beef ribs and , ox tail soup are amazing. But I really wish they dont sell the Durian fruit dessert. That smells so bad and I had to leave the restaurant in the middle of my dinner as the table beside me was having that dessert.
Delicious food. The chicken skewers so yummy, the beef ribs very tender and juicy. One of my favourite place, definitely coming back again.
Food: Taste good and it will give you a particular taste of Indonesian cusine.I personally found: do not order spicy flavor, unless you are resistant to eating 5 hot chillies together.Atmosphere is ok but it is very congested.Service is also ok. As the waiters are not very trained enough.Their coconut drink is very good
Disappointed with the food. Serving sizes were small for instance one small piece of Beef for the Rendang was absurd! Flavours in the dishes we had were also very basic. Better options for Indonesian food further down the street.
Very happy found this Indonesian Restaurant 🥰 and all menu dishes delicious, staff friendly and helpfull. There all Indonesian and very friendly speaking and suggesting menu. Im from Bali verg happy being here 🤩
soooo good and halal, authentic indon food
I was invited for lunch at Shalom Indonesian Restaurant today. The food service was very quick and friendly.I had the chilli prawn with rice and I love spicy food but this was hot which was great. For a quick lunch this place is great.Right in the heart of the city on Sussex street so if you’re in the city I highly recommend trying it out.Definitely worth 5 stars.
Great Indonesian food. This place is always packed full of Indonesian people so you know the food is good.I visit regularly and always enjoy the food here. All my favourite Indonesian dishes including Longton rice cakes, Nasi Campung , chicken sate and on my latest visit had their excellent Soto Mie chicken Noodle Soup. So good. Enak sekali!
Love this place. Their nasi campur is really good with a good size portion of the chicken. Their customer service is very good too, polite and courteous to their customers. Will definitely come back again.
Always nice service! Cool table outside. Strongly recommend the grill chicken and fried soy bean cake. They also have the Durian dessert. If you like chillies 🌶 try their samba sauce.Suggestion to improve: more dishes with green vegetables.
Shalom is a must visit for a flavour packed snd authentic Indonesian restaurant. Firstly the meals are all cooked fresh to order and their Chilli Sambal is divine and has the right consistency with spice and saltiness. The service was really friendly and the dining area was kept spotless. Must visit for authentic Indonesian food.
This place is really good! Good value for money. The lamb special curry is just splendid! Do visit here if youre in CBD. Their service is really great, fresh food. Thanks for their service. Couldnt click the lamb curry photo since was so busy enjoying it ,😃
Dropped in here for dinner before a show. The Nasi Goreng was great. Clean, good service. This is really worth a visit.
Shalom is definitely up there as one of the best Indonesian restaurants in Sydney. The dishes are always packed with flavour and taste as authentic as Indonesian food gets. A must try if you are in the area. Decently priced also and friendly service.
Solid home cooked Indonesian food at a good price. The sambal packs a punch but definitely complements the fried chicken very nicely.
One of the few places that open on Public Holiday and do not have PH surcharge. Came here for dinner on Good Friday. Food was delicious, service staff were friendly. 3 dishes & 1 drink cost us just $48. Menu is extensive but illustrated, so hardest part is to choose what to order! Shalom is famous for the martabak, but couldn’t try it during our visit as they were sold out for the day.
Poor hygiene with gnats flying around the restaurant.Small restaurant with limited seats inside. Poor customer service. Only one staff serving at the front, too busy to attend to all customers. They do have a wide variety of dishes, but most were not that good.eat dishes were dry and bland. Some dishes were too spicy.I wont be visiting again.
Good food and good place to hangout with friends. Always busy and full at dinner time. They sell plenty type indonesian food. I love fried chicken presto with woku sambal. So so good❤️
Their grilled menu is 👌 Overall, authentic Indonesian taste ✨ Their sambal sauce is 🌶️🌶️🌶️ so just be wary if you cant handle hot & spicy. They have a large menu, so plenty of sauces to choose from. We got in after 1pm, service was really fast. Coming back, defo! 😋
I’m manadonese, and i ordered beef ribs with manado’s chili sauce (iga woko)But surprisingly, the food that i order is very different with the picture in the menu 🤮
Very good! One of my favorite Indonesian restaurant in Sydney. Their food never disappoint me, they have a good consistency in their food. Most of their menu taste nice! Very recommended 😍
Ive been many places around the world, many Indonesian restaurant Ive been visited in other countries, but this one is the best one.Best Indonesian restaurant in Sydney, big portion, cheaper price, great taste of foods, remind you a lot about home.Highly recommended for all Indonesian all around Sydney.Great hospitality, only the place its too small, sometimes you need to wait for the availability of the seats.
Wow it was amazing to try the spicy Indonesian food with my sisters.well my sister insist me to try because she thought I cant have that much spicy food but it was okay for me as I can eat spicy food and I love it.there food was great.i hope to go visit again soon next time.
This Indonesian food restaurant isnt very big, but its still bring comfort during you enjoy the meals. Every lunch and diner time seems always busy. The taste is "Indonesia" enough, and the most important thing is they hold "Halal certificate". They also bring Indonesian meals habit. They served "Sambal Jempol" and they even provide "Teh Botol Sosro" - whatever you eat, just drink Teh Botol Sosro - famous Indonesian jargon. They also have my current and my first president picture on their wall, so touching. Price is not expensive, even it isnt cheap.
Absolutely delicious food though it can be spicy if you’re into that. The fried chicken was amazing and so was the beef rendang. Pretty tight place and very busy when we visited on a Friday evening. Service is friendly though bit slow.
Truly happy that I found Indonesian restaurant among all of the restaurants here in Sydney CBD. The place was nice and really reminded me of my country. But for the taste of the food, its not really appealing to me. The presentation was standard and the taste could be improved next time. I mean, it could be better.
I was happy with the variety of food they offer but the menu is so hard to read The font used was too small. The quality of food was good but it needs a lot of improvement regarding presentation and they seriously need to work on taste. The overall look of the food wasnt tidy and appealing.
Ordered mixed meat rice, deep fried tofu in sweet source, and dorian ice. All of them were good but the food is quite dry so you need water, but water is self service and the water cup is in an employee cabinet-like storage. Pretty strange experience.
This small restaurant is a heaven for the homesick Indonesian living in Sydney! They are located in Sydney CBD. Its not difficult to find the place. Anyway, the foods are great! They sell various of delicious dining in and desert Indonesian foods. A recommended place to go to try and eat the Indonesian culinaries!
Great costumer service. Go easy on the chilli. Food are great with some of it can be quite spicy. Quite a small place and be prepared to wait on busy hours.
The food here is not fantastic but if u love Asian taste or want to try some Indonesian food, this is the place that u can go to if u r in town. They have English menu with pictures to make your ordering easier. The more popular choices are the grilled chicken and beef ball noodle soup. The portion is quite small for me as a girl, definitely have to order 2 dishes to satisfy your tummy.
Great food ! Beware its a bit spicy. Look at the menu carefully before ordering spicy food. Food is yummy and desserts too.
