Good Indian food. A bit pricy but delicious.

Shalimar provides very tasty North Indian cuisine with many choices, including thali (set mealoptions. Its a good place for vegetarians as well as meat eaters. Normally the restaurant is open every evening 1700-2100, but might close occasionally to give staff a break, so you may wish to call ahead. It isnt busy nowadays.

The food was very good but I think they were busy today, and as a result, we had to wait a while for our orders to come through. But once it did it was very good. Thats why its a 4/5 for me only because of the waiting time.

I dont know but seems like only Indian restaurant in Koh tao, went there for a Tea, had Aloo paratha was great. The only thing I was not so happy about they charge you extra for green chutney 😂😂😂. But a decent place for Indian food.

Good food with plenty of dishes to chose from. The spice of each dish can be adjusted to your preference ranging from mild, medium, hot and red hot. The place itself can use an upgrade because it looks like a garagebox...

Great Indian food in the heart of Koh Tao. Good portion sizes, the Chana masala and butter paneer were very good. Only downside is that it was not open as often as we would have liked. There were signs on the door that they were closed on days when their Google listing said they were open. Still the food made up for it so we give it a 5/5

Surprisingly good Indian food!We went here on a whim and were lot surprised! The food was delicious, cooked to perfection and spiced like I would expect it to be had I been IN Delhi ordering from a local place.Prices are a little spicy, but so is the food, so I guess its to be expected. Staff was courteous and gave couples space to be themselves without being unavailable when needed. Premises were relaxing and clean. Definitely worth a visit when visiting the island!

We ordered too much food but it was so God Tha we just stayed until all jowls were empty ;)One of the best malai koftas I ever had, really exceptional. Other curries and kormas really, really tasty.

Had a really lovely meal here. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Frankly nice to have a break from Thai food.

First time eating in an Indian restaurant, so Im not in a position to judge the food, but it tasted good, so if you are also an Indian food newbie, its worth it a try.

Wasnt a fan. My chicken curry dish tasted like sausage.. I felt sick afterwards. Definitely not going back.

Best Indian on koh tao - loved it!

Good, authentic indian food. Tried butter chicken and curry prawns. In both cases, delicious and tender meat. A mango lassi a bit too watery. Prices adequate to food quality. Definitely recommend as something different than sorrounding restaurants.

Its expensive. More than normal restaurant that offer for 80THB a meal, but also the fancy ones where the cost for a decent dish is around 180 THB. Here, you pay (without rice or anything240+. With rice you are fast at 270 THB. Too expensive!For that price it is not worth it. Plus, no free water as the good restaurants offer.

Delicious food and incredible value!A group of 4 of us visited for dinner. So many of the dishes looked so good that deciding what to was eat was a bit daunting. Luckily their vegetarian dinner for 2 had just about everything we wanted and was incredibly filling.They are also attached to the beer masons and offer a discount on craft beer on tap.

Came here after checking reviews of proper Indian restaurants on the island and was not disappointed. I ordered a set meal, it came on a metal serving platter. Having a big appetite I ordered a naan to share and was more than full at the end. Good value / quality and pleased it was authentic Indian. There is an agreement with the craft brewery adjacent, I love ales but at 200/220bht a pint that was a bit rich for me. If you dont want to go next door and u-turn at the prices stick to drinks from the menu.

Great food, very glad to find this restaurant on this part of the world..They say they open at 2 pm, but actually its not before 0245..The food was great, loved the food thoroughly...

The worst Indian food we had in years...if not ever. Dont understand how they got 4.4 stars from the reviews. We ordered chicken tikka masala, chicken tandoori, lamb samosa, naan, etc...the dishes had no taste, texture, aroma & spices the authentic Indian food should have. Even the mango lassi was bad!?! too salty & watery. The servers were friendly but didnt know how to service.Located on the (not soremote island of Thailand is not an excuse...we had way better Indian food in far more remote location than this.

Great Indian food considering its a restaurant on a Thai island. We went for the dall fry and veg jalfresi, both were tasty. Onion bahjis couldve been better and the garlic naan was more of a flat bread but still very tasty.Staff were friendly and the restaurant itself is lovely. Spacious garden area, would definitely go again :)

Very delicious food. Staff is also very friendly. If you are vegetarian must try Jalfrezi.

The chicken tikka masala tasted like gone off chicken. The meat was really sour. My partner had a bad stomachache afterwards. Also the naan bread was almost like a pancake, not very fluffy. The masala chai was a bit bland considering Indian chai is supposed to be flavoursome.

Really great food, trust me Im Indian. It was just a little under seasoned but nothing a little salt cant fix (I got Butter Paneer). Naan was really good especially after you realize youre getting pretty decent naan on a teeny tiny island. ONE AWESOME FACT: they use metal straws for all drinks, so they are environmentally conscious! (Unlike the 7-11 down the road 😅)

The food was ok, nothing bad, but nothing too special either.I have been to many Indian restaurants in different countries, and unlike other people said, I dont think this food is worth the merit of fantastic. Im far from having tried any fantastic (or even very goodIndian food in Thailand. For some odd reason, Indian food its just not at its best in Thailand. Having saying that though, for Thai standards, this restaurant its higher in the scale than others I have tried here.Maybe thats a signal that if we want to eat really yummy Indian food we should just next time travel a few thousand kms west of Thailand, to real India.

This is one of the best Indian Restaurants Ive ever been to. It was quite a surprise that in a remote island like Koh Tao you could find such a wonderful place.

I would just say it was awesome. Couldnt find better food than Shalimar in Koh Tao. Was there in Koh Tao for 3 nights in this Jan. It was a coincident that we found this restaurant while visiting Sairee Beach. The food was delicious so we went their twice. Mr Vinod (if I remember his name correctlyis doing a superb job. He is the manager and the chief chef as well.The KingFish Tikka was out of this world. Daal makhni was really good.They have a good open sitting area with a traditional touch, nice pleasant environment and very hospitable staff. Price is also good.Well done Shalimar!!! Keep it Up!!!It would be really great if they can arrange Halal meat (chicken, lamb and beef etc). If they do that theyll be pioneers in Koh Tao.

Chicken Tikka Wrap in Naan Bread!!!!! This is by far the most food for your money on Koh Tao, plus it tastes so good you will be dreaming about one every day after. This place has plenty of other great food on the menu to choose from, plus daily specials. I have been eating here 10 years, and never had a meal that wasnt just simply incredible. The staff are wonderful and always go out of their way to make sure you leave smiling. The owner has done a great job keeping the atmosphere clean, natural, and peaceful. It can get a little busy some nights, but if you go at lunch or for an early dinner there will be not wait for a table and you could even grab a a couch instead. Dont miss this place if you are on Koh Tao!
