24 Market Building, The Piazza, London WC2E 8RD, Luxu
Hip, counter-serve chain for gourmet takes on fast-food classics like burgers & frozen custard.
This place is proof that no matter how bad the food is, if it’s in a good location, people will buy it. I visited on 24 Nov at around 8pm. The food here is of very poor quality and ridiculously overpriced! The burger buns are stale glow-in-the-dark yellow brioche buns (seriously, what do you put in them that they’re so yellow?!). The beef patties are dry as bone! The cheeseburger is one dry beef patty with plastic cheese on top inside two yellow buns, that’s it, no sauces, no lettuce, nothing! The normal crinkle fries are alright, but the cheese fries are absolutely disgusting! The cheese sauce on top tastes like artificial cheese powder+flour+water. This place makes McD’s seem gourmet! The person at the first till seemed to be lacking any form of mental capacity as my conversation with her went like this: ‘Do you have toilets here?’. ‘No, no toilets.’ ‘What is down the stairs?’. ‘Toilets’. How do you recruit your staff?!
I really rate their burgers and fries but it lost stars due to my buzzer being broken and the food getting so cold ☹️They kindly replaced our chips but our buzzer just didn’t go off which was such a shame. It’s expensive fast food but their burgers are just perfect patties, soft brioche and classic American cheese. The combination is simple but effective and if you like your burgers a bit jazzier then you can get it. Unfortunately the Covent Garden market is a bit of a weird setting. Being partially covered (think aircraft hangar but nicer!there’s a mental draft and on colder days, wrap up warm and eat quick, your food WILL get cold quickly! There’s a few tables inside where you can eat in the warm but on colder days these will get snapped up quickly.
Shake shack always hits the spot for a good takeaway burger after walking around central London for a day. I always order a Double Shackburger, but the Shack Stack burger is also equally good.
Honestly the food is good just like any shake shack. The atmosphere is amazing however it is always extremely busy. On weekends there will be definitely a queue to order and to find seating but it’s very pretty.
The best burgers. My favourite burger is the double cheese shack burger, cheese chips and a side of chicken pieces with mustard sauce. So delicious! They offer a free burger with blue light discount!!!! The bun is made from some sort of potato bread and its sooo soft like brioche but not sweet The chicken only halal. The seating is limited as covent garden is a busy area and some queues. The seating area is heated.
I was served by a youthful, vibrant and charming young mag called Jake. The combination of his helpfulness, charismatic zing and the delicious food contributed to a unique and fulfilling ambiance. In a generation of factory made molly maes , i was truly impressed by this young man’s social skills communicating with clients double his age - on the whole the food, location and waiter was simply fabulous.
Stopped to have 2 milkshakes. They had run out of strawberry flavour so ordered 2 vanilla flavoured shakes cost £11.Good quality of product but portions and price worse than mcdonalds, the latter win for a good milkshake.
We ordered two cheeseburgers, waited for over half an hour, and the burgers came with only patty and buns. No topping at all.Went back to the till to ask about it, cashier pointed at the board and told me: “you have to let us know.”Well if that’s the case then the staff should probably have asked us about the toppings, like in Five Guys. Also look at the board—Cheeseburger is the only one that needs to add toppings. You wouldn’t even notice the “let us know” sentence from the first sight. It’s a fast food restaurant, not an eye test for gods sake. It’s just misleading. Will never come back.
It is located on the side adjacent to the street on the ground floor of the complex. Parking isnt easy. Lots of seating outside but very little inside.Staff are very friendly. The food and service are typical Shake Shack fare. Which makes it very good.
First off I would like to say that it’s pricey for what you get, but loved the sweet bun and the burger is cooked beautifully. I had an chicken sandwich with the curly fries. I wanted to visit this place because we don’t have it in the Netherlands and I know they have it in Korea!I would recommend the lemonade, especially when the weather is sunny.I think it’s a must try, if you are an foodie! Love the location btw.
burger (shack burgerand fries were delicious. But their special drink blueberry lemonade tastes of normal lemonade - not worth it.
Came here a few weeks back but thought I’d leave a review as I was really impressed with the fast service by the boy servicing us. He was all by himself but managed to do two registers at once. I also really enjoyed the shake and veggie burger! Definitely would recommend to my friends
Not the worst but definitely not the best. The wait time can be long regardless of the day. The food itself is mediocre, somewhere in between a Burger King and a Five Guys, failing to be as good as the latter. The burgers are okay but could do with more filling and the fries are quite flat.
Went here on a Sunday night with a friend. It just felt like a grubby food court. The store was pretty bleak with a door system that didnt work. Service at the counter was okay, but food took a while to be prepared. The seating area had one cleaner endlessly wiping a tray while I had to clear other customers leftovers to get a table to sit at. It just felt dirty and in disarray, like nobody cared. The space was awful and unwelcoming. Not clean, horrible lighting, not warm. My friend had to pay to use a public toilet. This was a total disgrace and I will never be eating here ever again.
Great food, great location but slow service.
Really nice fresh lemonade with some fries! Service felt a little slow!
Burgers pretty small and the "smash burger" moniker seems to be quite literal with some of the orders. But its all tasty and the prices are actually very reasonable for anywhere in London. Wanted to say 3.5 but erred on the lower end.
Love the burgers although theyre abit over budget! The patty is always juicy and flavoursome and toppings always so tasty. Their custard shakes are elite and the homemade style lemonade is also very good and well priced for a large thirst quenching cup.Staff were thin on the ground today, waited almost 10mins to order, only one pesron on the order point. Food always good though
Brilliant food, reasonable price! I would definitely recommend getting a side of cheesy chips! Great to have a stop during our travels of London!
The food was quite fresh and tasty but the customer service were so poor. The staff cleaned the table poorly and the toilets were abysmal! I am not sure if I have ever seen a horridly maintained shake shack branch in london. Probably stick with take aways only if you are visiting this branch. The guy was smirking when we asked him to tidy up the table and did a very poor job in that.
Great location great juicy burger cooked perfectly. . Best get there early avoid peak times had to wait a long time in two different que’s but it was worth it in the end
Consistently good food and relatively quick preparation (as youd expect). Particularly the Shack Meister is very tasty and consistently satisfies your hunger and burger craving. If youre a student you can also benefit from a Buy One Get One Free deal which which makes it very worth it. Overall pretty good place.
Ate here recently. Food was ok, with good portions. Service was TERRIBLE. Took around 30 minutes for the food to come, which defeats the purpose of fast food. I don’t blame the staff, but the system by which the place is run. It’s chaos. It took us a while to find the entrance, and others came up to us equally confused and we had to give directions. After we ordered, we had to join a large throng of other people waiting for their food. Food was left waiting on the pass. People who had ordered their food before us got their food before us. There was just one poor girl handing out food to everyone. Surely this can’t be the best way to run a restaurant? Kudos to the staff for working through such chaos to make sure we eventually got some food.
Visited this branch recently for an early dinner which ended up not so early when we finally received our meal after about half an hour. The entrance was inconspicuous and obscure, and we weren’t the only one who struggled to find it (others approached us whilst we waited to pick our food up, which was on the other side of the restaurant). There was only one staff at the till and one staff at the pick up counter, who did a great job in keeping calm in catastrophic conditions (e.g. customers constantly complaining about orders). Perhaps the management should consider better signposting as well as a more efficient system to run the restaurant to make it a better experience for both customers and staff.
Tried Shake Shack for the first time and unfortunately cannot recommend it:Order and pick-Up:Staff is pretty much stressed. Not a very positive atmosphereFood:Small servings for the price but tasty.Beverages:Avoid the „home-brewed“ icetea - it’s some slightly bitter tealike fluid which was served lukewarm without ice cubes. After complaining ice cubes where added reluctantly. Those improved the temperature somehow, but not the taste. Conclusion:I will not go there againSorry to say that, but service is usually better at McDonalds and their icetea is definitely better, too. If you want better food and vibes than McDonalds than go to Five Guys not to Shake Shack.
Worst shake shack ever they only accept card payment and they didn’t say it or put a sign of it out side for the customers to knowSo u would queue for 20 mins and find out they don’t accept cashEven after I got my card and came back the order took too long to get ready I waited for 45 mins or soThe toilet is a mess too it’s flooded and dirty and everything about this shake shack is bad
Tasty and delicious chips and the chicken burger is definitely my favourite. Staff are good they make sure the tables are clean straight after customers our finish.
Burger was good. But cold by the time got to eat it as stood up trying to eat burger, fries, while balancing a beer on a plastic tray was daft. Plenty of tables but nowhere to sit down as everyone else was occupying tables and not eating…they said they were ordering but my suggestion that as it takes 20min to get your order, perhaps we could sit and eat as we’d be gone in 10, didn’t wash with anyone. Asked staff nearby what to do, they shrugged shoulders. Seemed more interested in checking their socials rather than helping customers. Don’t bother eating here, £19pp and nowhere to eat meal in comfort.
I thought it would be one more of that overrated places but I was wrong, everything was so delicious that the long queue waiting was worth.Had the veggie mush burguer and I was very happy with that!
Great tasting food! Friendly staff behind the counter and in the seating area! And I was expecting it to be more expensive than it was. All round good experience.
GREAT burgers and chips. Highly recommend eating here!
It has been over 2 years since last went to the UK because Covid. Finally back and god I missed ShakeShack SO much. Burgers and shakes amazing. Chicken burger might be the best I have ever had.
The burger is ok, I prefer their milkshake better 😋
Over priced and it wasnt what would consider a great milkshake. The strawberry and rhubarb milkshake tasted the same as the plain strawberry... Which tasted like fake strawberry. The chips were crinkle cut like you would get straight out of a Tesco freezer. Nothing special. 2 milk shakes and chips. Better part of £20Not somewhere I am prepared to line up for. Want milkshake and fries, go to 5 guys. Shorter queues and better chips.
This place is a great fast food choice! If youre looking for Chicken nuggets that are as good as Chick-Fil-A (maybe better.)The burger, as expected, tasted delicious. They served alcoholic drinks which surprised me, so I got a Gin & Lemonade, it was... well... a Gin and a Lemonade. Simple, but no complaints!BUT there is a reason for the 4 stars and not 5, the hot dog. The cheese I got on it just tasted cheap and the meat itself was just mediocre as can be!I will also mention that they offered another alcoholic drink, something along the lines of Bourbon Caramel Shake, but when I asked about that they told me they didnt serve/have them for some reason, that was a let down.Location of this place is great, so many little stores around you to check out when youre done eating.
I tried once because they Hype. I had a long queue but their burger taste amazing, really worth the waiting haha.
I don’t understand the hype, while the food looks amazing on pictures (nothing is ever as good as it seems, sadlythe taste was just.. meh? They gave us our food cold and fries portions were really small. Just go to McDonalds if you’re craving burgers..Edit: gave it another try in Miami, and it was delicious there; so i guess it is an hit or miss
Delicious for a take away joint. I had the Meister burger; smokey flavour with grilled cheese - very good. And warm, which is not the case with Five Guys burgers which often arrive to the customer almost cold.
I think this place is highly overrated. Although tasty, the burgers are really expensive for being so small. You have to queue a long time and pay everything separately. Not whort it, there are other better burgers to try.
Best burger in London at Covent Garden. Must order the cheesy fries. Expect to Q for 15-20 mins during peak hours
Staff were nice and quick with the service. The seating outside is okay on hotter days but it was freezing and even with the warm food to help with that it wasn’t enough😫 the food was delicious and definitely worth it. Ordered the chicken shack burger with crinkle cut fries. 5/5 for the food. Very satisfying!
Great service here. The cashiers were a little slow, but the food came out quite quickly. They have many spaces to sit inside and outside. They’re burgers are very good but the single without the bun is a bit small I would recommend getting the double if you don’t get a bun. They’re fries are great and they’re cheese sauce complements them perfectly.
We stopped off at the Shake Shack in Covent Garden for plant based burgers and a portion of fries to share. The burger was tasty, nice lettuce inside and the bun soft. The crinkle cut chips were lovely. This is the first time I have been to Shake Shack and I would go back if I wanted fast food.
I ordered the black and white shake (chocolate & vanillathat was fantastic, especially if you like smartiesThe cheesy fries probably couldve been spread more evenly across the rest of the chips. That said, the cheese wasnt a generic burger cheese and it was hot so it was nicely melted on the chips, making for an enjoyable sideI ordered the double SHACKMEISTER and my friend the single, so you can compare the size difference below. Taste is good, beats the double big Mac by some distance, not the biggest overall thoughOutdoor seating has the Christmas decorations rolled out and there was opera singing to be heard downstairsOne downside is I lost my headphones there!
Very tasty burgers. We really enjoyed them. Its a bit small so you need to go for the double burger size. The cheeseburger with the lovely smokey bacon was pure bliss. Every ingredient fitted in perfectly for super tasty bite. The cheesy chips were not so good and the cheese souce tasted weird and not in a good way. We had to wait 25 minutes for our burgers and the place wasnt busy, so not very fast food. Anyway, the bacon cheese burger is super tasty and this is the most important thing.
Sadly a big disappointment. Cold fries, flavourless onions and a mediocre burger. Servers were nice but the food was a massive let down especially for the price. Decent chocolate shake but that’s about it. Photogenic but lacking anything that made a good burger.
Thanks for making this the least memorable lunch since returning to the city.Look at the pictures as to what type of hot dog £4.50 gets you. And the chicken bites are supposed me chicken (white meatbut mine were brown meat - look at the picture. Furthermore, even though I checked with the serving attendant that all sauces were provided the honey mustard dipping sauce was not. I had to do with Mayo for the not so chick n bites.
Planned our trip as we were travelling from Yorkshire. We have to download the menu on the QR scanner look at the menu and then order your food little sticker on the table to say which 1 it is.We only eat halal food and to find out only the chicken is halal was a little disappointing. We had the classic chicken burgers and I had a kimchi slaw burger which really was amazing but it was warm not hot.The staff were very friendly and helpfulExpensive and waiting time let it down from a five star review as we had it twice and both times food was warm not hot.
Nice food, good quality and value for money especially taking into account the prime location.Had some chicken burgers with signature sauce, chips, cheesy chips and drinks each. All together came to £50 ish. Not bad for three people.Only slight negative, they put a lot of salt on chips so better to ask for no salt or less then they usually do.Also, note to management, its still cold in the evenings. Please put patio/umbrella heaters on like your neighbours restaurants/dine in places do.
You queue on one side to order and pick up on the other side. It works well and there is enough space to sit outside. The burger was delicious. The fries good.. But the fries with cheese ... So special! I would recommend especially for the friendly staff. The older staff also were very chatty and welcoming. Especially the lady from Aruba who was an expert on every burger and helped us choose our meals. The female toilets downstairs were closed but there were two other unisex ones. At least there are bathrooms!
