The place is a peace of heaven in the capital as it is very beautiful as compared to Pir Sohawa and Damn e Koh. By the aspect of natural beauty it is the heart of Islamabad. Only lacks a good restaurant and be careful while travelling in the evening as security is not 100%.

Horrible access road. I think people come here just for off-roading because it’s so broken . 2 stars for lush green mountain view .1 star of the historic place itself. Concrete road being built privately which gives excuse to authorities for being casual about its access . And concrete road is never comfortable.

At the foothills of Margala Hills, there seems to be a complex of 2 caves. Some believe these were residents or maybe a "kirana" store for travelers passing this area. I also believe this maybe the original route taken by the GT road, as 5 km above there is baoli built by Sher Shah Suri for horses and people. Over the mountains (northand on the other side is Taxila. And an archeology friend believes that this is not even a cave but something people have made belief. Also unplanned construction of houses, hotels and restaurants is destroying the area, and increasing garbage. No proper care is making the structure crumble. On my last visit the window has already fallen over

Good secluded dining place in vicinity of Islamabad. Limited traditional food available in a serene environment. Visit during good weather is a blessing.Road access is not very good, but still normal cars can make it with a little skillful driving.

Shah Allah Ditta Caves are located at village Shah Allah Ditta near Sector E-11 and Golra sharif at Islamabad. This place is a good historical place and contains traces of human beings spread over a large span of time. These caves were used as a shelter place. After the caves one can find Buddhist stupa at ban faqiran village. The pic depicts the whole story

Its historic place. Overall area is good food picnic. A number of food stalls and other sitting place are there for meal or tea or snacks. No tickets required. There is an old man still living in the cave with very basic necessities. He was sitting outside the cave. One can give him some money to help him. There was a pond with some fish, but it was not so clean to utilize its water or to take bath.

Me and my mate Big Gazza were hiding in these caves with a strange man who had questionable magazines, haven’t seen that fellow for a few years now. Was a good airbnb, they had a PS2 and we stayed here for around 20 years. Amazing stuff lads, keep it up. Brilliant.

Place is good for families... Track is good enough for bikes and cars... You can park your vehicles there and fell carefree too... Almost half an hour ride from E-11 Islamabad... Shah Allah Ditta Caves is such a good and historical place. A water pond is also there with fishes 😍 good and fine restaurants with great menu are also there...Now lets talk about my visit. My visit was full of disappointments. I was imagining lot of caves on mountains with thousands of years old trees and some horror type scenes but there wasnt anything like this...😂Enjoy your time 😊

There isnt much to do here. Just a bunch of old caves and a natural spring. But the way to get her is absolutely tiring, because the road is concrete, not asphalt. And the hundreds of speed bumps are infuriating. Then theres the elephant in the room, called Golrra Road. Absolutely appalling!!!If you have a bike or car with good suspension, keep climbing to the top of the mountain and visit the Stairwell (Bauli).

This place has a historical importance. These are natural caves over 2500 years old and these caves were used by Buddhist Monks for worship. This place is located next to the shrine of Hazrat Shah Allah Ditta in the Margalla Hills of Islamabad. It is easily accessible from bike by road from Islamabad and from Haripur district of KPK. If you are a nature lover then I recommend you to visit this place.

Nothing too special about the place. Even their authenticity is a bit questionable. Could still be a good place to spend some time with family or friends but the road conditions for the last 3 km are not good.

Budha supposedly meditated here for a while. I havent verified this independently though. Small caves, hardly room for a couple of people at a time, these do make for a good short visit with the family and kids

Its a good place to visit overall, only if youre into history and archaeology. But, the road to this site is in a dilapidated condition. Also, the number of Caves are about 4-5, and theres nothing much to learn about it.The administration should have at least put up some excerpts from history about this historical place. Please do view and enjoy the pics. Thanks!

The caves are a good spot for people interested in history. But its very limited space, you can visit in 10 minutes. However you can also go to cafes on car, which are on the hill top and have beautiful views of islamabad and the route is also quite scenic. You can also hike. The hills are quite beautiful and not crowded at all.

Lovely place to visit; 2-3 hours activity 😀. The caves (some 3000 years oldare nice to see, not well preserved though. The giant trees (again, some 3000 years oldworth seeing. The tea and pakoras are enjoyable in cold weather. The flowing water from the mountain is an eye opener; sometimes youre lucky to see fish in the water. The road is too bumpy, so plan accordingly. Enjoy the caves :)

Historical Budha caves about which the legends say it was meditation place of Budha. Just when u cross sector D-12, u reach Shah Allah Ditta village. The remnant caves are situated at the foothill when pass by Shah Allah Ditta village. The place is awsome and very few people visit the place. Beware of snakes in the region specially in the perforations.

“Shah Allah Ditta Caves/ Budha Cave or Sadhu ka Bagh” is located near D-12 in the Green hills. It is a historical place and individuals in Islamabad looking to explore some historical places should visit the site. The place also contains a “Budha Stupa” at the hill top in front of these caves that takes approximately an hour and a half trekking to reach the hill top. The main road also leads to haripur/ khanpur dam, KPK. The road is a bit bumpy & there are restaurants with little resources so better come prepared.

Went today, the place is awesome for people living near E11 and D12, those who are coming from other sectors and out of city better to visit Monal or Daman-e-koh as there is no proper road available to go up very poor road infrastructure for about 3 to 5 KM patch, but view from top is worth watching. The whole area is surrounded by mountains in a circle and only a single point available to view Islamabad. Multiple Resturants and Dhabbas are available on Top. Check your spare wheela and air pressure before visit this place. Thanks

Located around a km north of Shah Allah Ditta village are few prehistoric limestone caves that have been in human use since thousands of year. Reportedly these caves has been under use of Budhist and Hindu monks. Contain a few very old banyan trees with numerous roots falling to the ground and a freshwater spring. The area has been well maintained though now one can see quite a bit of litter spread by the visitors. There is a big car park just next to Sadhu Ka Baagh. From the caves one can take an westerly climb and hike to Ban Faqirian stupa that is located at the top of the mountain.A very nice place to visit that is less than an hours drive from most places in Islamabad.

Its a small yet nice place to visit near islamabad. there are two small caves that are related to Buddha some 2500 years ago. Theres also a underground reservoir of drinkable water, that is channeled to a small pond with fish. Theres one traditional tea spot or dhabba that serves pakora, fries and tea. I had the tea here and it was good. The place is not that crowded and mostly families can be seen. Theres also a good resturant adjacent to it with live folk music. A must visit. The road is not that good though after crossing D12 sector.

An extremely peculiar experience away from the city in the middle of nowhere. The road leading to the caves is absolutely phenomenal. Green mountains surround the road all the way to the caves. The place is beautiful with a lot of history to it. Theres a modern touch there as well with restaurants and cafes but original theme exists all across. There are streams of water running, ducks roaming freely etc. Theres also a zipline here if youre into that kinda stuff. Top marks for such a different experience.

Really beautiful place. The cave isn’t very big. All the shrines are destroyed. The pool is filled with dirty water. There are no history markers. All history is pretty much erased. There’s an old man who has converted the cave to his living space which will give you an insight in how people in caves live

Loved this place. I never knew that you can find these kind of places in Islamabad. Its a continuous of Margalla Hills of Rocky & Greenish. The Caves arent as big as you expect it to be. A Cold water stream can be found in the entrance of these caves. Alongside the Caves you can find Resorts and Restaurants built along the edge of the hills. It was a new experience going there.Be cautious the Roads are quite Fractured & Ruptured there, thats the only problem we had.

Just behind Islamabad’s D-12 sector, a dilapidated road leads to Sadhu ka Bagh, a garden over 2,400 years old at the foot of the Margalla Hills in the Shah Allah Ditta village, located at the foothills of the Margalla Hills in Islamabad. The origin of the caves are believed to be either Buddhist or Hindu; some older tales suggest that Hindu sadhus came to the area to meditate, and a garden spread across acres of land near the caves at the foot of the Margallas. There are tales of Hindu lord Ram and his wife Sita and brother Lakshman arrived in the Margalla Hills during their 14-year exile. While we sipped tea and enjoyed french fries Mohammad Ismail, the owner of a tea stall and Shah Allah Ditta resident shared that before the partition of the subcontinent, this was a religious site for Hindu and Buddhist sadhus. His grandfather told him about the stupa and temple at the site, but it had disappeared after the Hindus migrated from here. The land was allotted to his family after partition, and it has remained in their possession. The family looks after the Buddhist caves and the old garden and there is also an old well of spring water in the area that is used by nearby farms and as drinking water. He was kind enough to offer us a jug as well.Kids enjoyed zipliner and climbing century old mango tree.... weather was great and I will definetly go back for more.....

Its a good place for a family picnic.Visitors can take the trekking route to the Buddhist stupa, starting from the restaurants/caves.The only hurdle is the road condition from Sector D12.
