Japanese hot pot dining in a contemporary, cozy space with a small outdoor garden area.
For $30~50 a person for average non-authentic shabu shabu definitely will not worth it. Ordered spicy fried chicken appetizer & meat supreme. Meat quality average and lacking in variety of vegetables and portion size. Definitely will not be returning.
Excellent hot pot. Did the lunch all you can eat special with two soup bases. Came out to 55 per person with tip. Fast and friendly service. Fresh ingredients, plenty of options. Would definitely come back again
Enjoy the food and the cozy vibes everytime. The price definitely went up significantly since the pandemic so wont be going too often.
Loved it. We had never had hot pot so we felt a bit out of place. The girl that was waiting on us was very nice and helpful with guiding us on our first hot pot experience. We will be back.
This place tiny but delicious, service was excellent. Highly recommend. You can find cheaper hot pot places in and around boston but not as good in my opinion.
This hot pot was amazing, so delicious!!! Will be visiting again, and soon.
The place was in such an odd location i almost passed it when I walked by. The staff looked confused when i stated that i would be alone eating, but they made me feel welcomed all the same. The place was amazing and the broth was so rich. the meat was pretty good since i got the fatty type. The iced coffee was also pretty nice and refreshing, a good drink to have for a very warm meal.
Worth trying; food is just average. Will not be a favorite
Not so good, broth could be more flavorful, sechuan was sooo spicy. service was meh.
Excellent experience! We had 2 broths, miso and tom yum. Both are really great but I REALLY LOVE THE TOM YUM. We also had green tea and jasmine tea. I will definitely come back! Great value for money as well!
It was truly a wonderful experience. The food is amazing!
If you’re going to eat here, don’t order takeout. I ordered the vegetarian combo $16 (paid $21and got a bag of raw vegetables (barely cut up), and veggie dumplings literally just tossed in a plastic bag. The corn, onion, soybeans, broccoli etc all uncooked. I expected everything to be cooked and already combined in a tasteful veggie broth with the noodles. I was stuck in a hotel with no way of cooking everything. They also forgot napkins, and utensils.
Love Shabu Restaurant Cafe. Always great food. Love the smoothies they get from BCafe too. Normally I go to their sister restaurant Shabu & Mein in Cambridge as it is more convenient, but better choices at the Quincy location.
This place is amazing. Had a birthday here and none of us knew what we were doing or how to order but the waitress was extremely helpful at explaining it to us. The food is great and there is a wide variety of meat to choose from. It is a little expensive but honestly feels like a discount for the quality of the food you’re getting. Would recommend 100% to everyone.
My wife and myself (2 womenfound this place to be friendly. The waitress was by far the best to guide us on our first time starting out. I requested wagyu beef additional to the order. Overall. The portions are large. No smell of fish in the restaurant was great. Knowing the seafood was cleaned properly. We shared each others hotpot. Flavoring broth, and we had a good time.
This place is a gem. My whole family loves Shabu with a passion! I wish we could give 10 stars. We always fight over the last piece of Prime Rib Eye (the littlest usually wins)
Good, but not the best value for "hotpot" in Quincy. Meat is good, soup comes in a lot of choices.
Great place. My first time in.The staff helped me to order the soup and it was amazing. Very friendly environment and quality products. Perfect place for a good soup in a winter day.
Best shabu place around. A bit small and cozy but I love it. Food quality is exceptional
Pretty good hotpot, but a small interior with limited seating if you’re planning to go on a weekend.
Shabu is great! The food is always amazing and the staff is so friendly! There are plenty of vegan options :)
5 Stars! This place is amazing! First time was three weeks ago I was a little overwhelmed never trying hotpot before and not sure how to order but the waitress at Shabu walked us through step by step and we had a great meal! We’ve already been back again. The food is amazing quality.
Food was great. Friendly staff had a great time. They have a bar if you want to go alone.
Glad they finally reopened. Although they got rid of their all you can eat special. We still enjoyed ourselves.
I was really looking forward to trying hotpot, the food was ok but I was very disappointed with the service. The stuff is very rude did not explain anything to us. they just assume that you’ve been there many many times before and you know exactly how the menu works. None of our questions were answer, we kept having to ask them to add more soup or even give us water. basically the customer service was nonexistent. We felt like we were bothering them by being in there establishment we did not feel welcome at all.
Bad experience. Will never go back. Not trained waitress, bad service attitude. Watch out, waitress could add on more pork broth soup without asking while you are having veggies based soup. No recommended for people don’t eat pork, chicken, no recommended for hotpot lovers, not authentic, no choices for dipping source. I drove from north Boston to try, but so disappointed, waste time and waste $, ha!
Have been to Shabu a couple times over the past couple of years and the food and experience has always been great. I had assumed that during the pandemic, hot pot was a strict non-starter. But much to my surprise, Shabu offers takeout!! How you ask? Well, in addition to all of the delicious meats, seafood and veggies you order for your meal, you also have the option of purchasing or renting a hot pot and stove so you can get the full experience in your home. It was AWESOME! Highly recommend giving it a try if you havent already.
We frequent Shabu quite often usually on Friday nights. We first came here about 2 years ago based on a friends recommendation. I’ll preface this by saying I am worried about writing this review in fear that we will never never get a seat again on a Friday night - this is definitely one of Quincy’s best kept secrets.I only had one experience with hot pot previous to Shabu and was not super excited about it, but also didn’t hate it.We decided to give it another try. It was a little bit of a risk because I have two young children 7yo and 9yo and this was a total different different way of eating. My son was traditionally a poor eater so we were not sure how he would respond. Our first visit was no less than amazing. Shabu is a small place but but is very energetic and has great buzz to it. The menu at first was a little hard to figure out but we had a great server who navigated us through and helped us order. Although they do not have a kids menu, there are so many great items for kids to choose from. As mentioned, my son the picky eater, found a couple things he loved. They were kind enough to prepare a non-spicy version of their chicken tenders along with a side of rice and some Napa cabbage and he was off to the races ! We chose a meat combo supreme with prime rib, chicken, and pork. It comes with a choice of noodle, choice of soup and some vegetables. It’s delicious. Our favorite noodle is ramen and my choice of soup is spicy schezwan - my kids get the miso broth. We have also tried a number of different meats - short rib which is amazing and the wagyu beef is over the top. They have a great wine by the glass selection and good bottle list.Of particular note is the service- it’s excellent. We get a little more attention because we are more than regulars, however, I remember how good the service was on our first visit as noted. They also have an outdoor patio that is heated and open all year long.We have found this a great style of cuisine and its light and fresh. You can order a’l’carte or in combos. You have a lot of choices if you are out for a lite dinner or a big meal.
:Quick review:Pros:- Great service!- Consistent quality of good food- Great atmosphere for dates or small get togetherCons:- its kind of small, but its a great shabu place- Can be on the pricey side but thats what you get for quality!..::Fuller Review::..This is a personal favorite for me and my girlfriend, been coming here almost every other night.Overall a highly recommend place to go too!
Ive been coming here since I was 14 years old (10 years nowand it is still my favorite hot pot place in all of Quincy and Braintree. The manager has been there for years and is always so friendly as well as the staff. Great atmosphere, the best flavors in my opinion, and great music. Very cozy and warm, outdoor seating is offered. Ill drive here on a snow storm any day.
Its been a while since I been here. They changed up the menu a little. They have all you can eat hot pot for $25 something and it was definitely worth it. The quality is definitely better then the other all u can hot pot spot. Service was good and price is about the same as other all u can eat hot pot places. Definitely, will be back
The soup base was poorly prepared, and the lunch cost $23.99 plus $4.50 for a total of $30. However, the food selection was very limited, and the waiter could not be found for a long time. It was not worth the price and would not come again
Everything was delicious. Service got a little slow near the end of our meal, but the wait staff was very friendly. The bill was ~$50 for a la carte with two vegetable dishes and three meats (just the right amount for three people). Then went to YoCha across the street for bubble tea! Definitely would come back.
Love this place. Small but, it doesnt feel like it. Management is very nice and after asking me seveal questions recommended 2 dishes that were absolutely fabulous. Dont ask me what is was but, it was satisfying.
I enjoyed the place. My friend and I got the all-you-can-eat meal on a Wednesday. In this meal, there was a really nice selection of meat and vegetables that you can select from for 2 hours. The broths were also well prepared and went well with the meat. The ice cream in the end was a great way to end the evening. I would recommend people to come here and try it out.
I’ve tried a few hot pot places in the area and Shabu blew me away! This place is so good. Mon-Wed has an all-you-can-eat menu to satisfy your inner fat kid. This place is a ‘must try’ restaurant in Quincy.
So glad I was introduced to hot pot cooking: choose 2 different broths, which sit on heaters in the table top in front of you. Order vegetables, noodles, salmon, thin slices of beef, chicken...toss pieces in to briefly cook in boiling broth. Delicious.
Went for lunch on a Monday, place was almost empty but still got great service. A little pricy but good quality for what you get. And their menu lists which items are gluten free, which you dont often find with many Asian places, except Thai. Food was delicious and drinks were great. Definitely recommend. Parking can be tricky though.
This was mine and my girlfriends first time eating hotpot. What a wonderful dining experience. Our waitress gave us the whole rundown on how everything works and had a really great attitude. The food was all very fresh and tasted delicious. This is definitely where Im going anytime I want to eat hotpot. And for anyone out there who is nervous that they "cant cook", just go give it a try. You dip a slice of prime rib into the hot broth and within seconds its fully cooked.
First time getting hot pot and the friendly staff explained everything so I understood what to do (the staff get 5 stars!). The sushi was good, not worth writing home about, but good. Overall slightly too expensive to make it a habit. Still recommended nonetheless.
The meat combo is $18 and includes 2 different types of meat, veggies & rice/noodles. It was good enough for 2, but they did charge for each broth $2 reg and $4 for fancy. We are at the bar with individual hot pots but shared the combo. We walked away satisfied but not overwhelmingly stuffed! They have quite a variety of beers, & soju (flavored! And tons of sake. Plum juice was very sweet & thick with a prune fruit for extra special experience :-Ill come back, the atmosphere was ok for a date.
Its my first time. Food is great, a little pricey but worth every penny. Great service, all the waitstaff are very nice. Will go there again.
Its the second time we have had dinner here. Its okay at best. The broths are mediocre. The add cheap broth during the process to the expensive broth. Guess they believe one doesnt notice. Anywho thats why I give them a 3 rating.
Awesome all you can eat. Great variety of meats, seafood, veggies, mushroom and broth! You can order a pot with three dividers, awesome but really the szechuan and house are the best. Cant wait to go again!
How in the world have I not reviewed this place yet? Im stunned. Ive been here many, many times. With my wife, with friends, with a big group of Yelpers and with some family. This modest establishment sits on one of Quincys main roads but theres plenty of street parking. Inside youll find about 7-8 tables as well as a bar counter that sits another 6 or so people. And on every table, as you can imagine, is an induction burner and usually a ton of plates of ingredients ready to be swished around in the various broths they offer.Best of all, they have an all-you-can-eat option available with reasonable pricing. They call it the buffet and theres a dedicated menu for it. This is our favorite option and a great way to try various things to keep the meal very interesting. Theres over fifty options to pick from including beef, lamb, chicken, pork, turkey, various mushrooms, noodles, and seafood as well. All of the meats and veggies weve had there have been of great quality and the service impeccable. I havent had the seafood but people Ive been with have and they had no complaints either. Theres also fourteen different soup bases to pick from which is also nice and they recently introduced a new pot allowing one to have to three different ones per table at once. I recommend the kimchi one which is our favorite. The Japanese Curry one is interesting as well. All in all, this place rocks! Its awesome and I always look forward to returning here no matter the time of year or who Im with. Its by far the best shabu-shabu option in the Boston-area.
Food was good. Service was fair at best. Took maybe 15 minutes to get a box and check with only 2 tables (including usin the restaurant. There were 4 people working but only 1 girl was actually helping people while 3 were chatting among themselves.
The wait staff is very nice. The restaurant is pleasing on the eye, but very small. The price is super expensive and do not sit outside on the patio until its actually warm. They said that it would be fine with the heating lamps on, so we gave it a go. Otherwise it would have been a 45 min wait. We sat out there with the heating lamps on and it was not enough. Extremely cold. The 4 of us cost $120 with no extra drinks or dessert. Just go to China Town in Boston. Its only $26 per person and its all you can eat and they are able to handle large parties.
Good hot pot and appetizers. Good meat, OK soup, but mushrooms are way overpriced. $7 or $8 for about 6 thin slices of mushroom, all combined together to perhaps 2 small to medium sized mushrooms. What a ripoff.
Nice place for single ladies and gentlemen, also couples and friends. Everything is fresh, the waiters are very kind and patient. I enjoyed this moment in this restaurant. Its my first time but not last time.
Excellent Japanese hot pot experience. Dining room. Is small, so get there early or be prepared to wait. Best broths to try are the Curry, Kimchee and Tom Yum. All plates are exquisitely cut and fresh. For an unexpectedly good choice, try the Tung Ho, especially in late fall/early winter when its in season. Also try poaching some eggs and dropping them on rice...great comfort food!
