Sha Tin Che Kung Temple - Taoist temple in Hong Kong, China
Famous temple in Hong Kong and an iconic landmark in Shatin.
Other than wong tai sin, che kung temple is the famous famous temple in hong kong where che kung is a soldier general who was known to help virus spread out, perhaps he may help covid too. Besides, there are iron fan which turn clockwise to strength your luck, if anti clockwise move to turn your back luck away. There are also many fortunate tellers can hire
Famous heritage temple in Hong Kong. Great place to visit for worship and see fortune tellers.
May all wishes come true!
Traditional temple with very modern and organized customers services staff..Very helpful staff which makes people like me who is not familiar with the steps can easily finish all procedures without confusion.
The must go-to temple for local and tourists alike besides Wong Tai Sin temple. Walking distance from Tai Wai or Che Kung temple mtr. Turning the small windmill and beat the drum both 3 times will bless you with good luck. Dont forget to try the local street food near the station if you alight in Tai Wai.
Not a very big temple but with a lot visitors/worshipers
Large scale of Chinese traditional worship in the middle of a village with convenience of MTR connection.Entrance to the temple needs an admission fee. Inside the temple is full smoky air from burning of paper. Could be good destination if you really have nothing better to do.
This is Taoism temple. Because connected with subway, it is easy to go there. If you have something to pray for....
A good place to understand the Taoism. Che Kung is the God of this temple who is admired by HK people. Even tourists from Thailand will visit this temple and make prayers here.
Great example of a temple and a great place to pick up a souvenir, specifically these windmills which give you a blessing.I visited on 初二 which is quite a festival for the Che Kung Temple, and therefore it was really busy. Entering took quite long, and things inside were quite packed. The temple is, as a fact, quite small. Still, I enjoyed this chance to know a bit more and just to get away from Hong Kong Island!
Make a wish in chinese new year.
All the best to me and family.
Hong Kong old religion temple near Tai Wai / Shatin area
This temple closes to the railway station & quite convenient
Nowadays all the worship and contribution rituals are staff-coordinated and guided and hence easy to follow for non-believers. Che Kung, the home deity for this temple, is known for protecting earthly subjects to have safe and smooth logistics, sound and peaceful weather, and a change in one’s current luck and prospect with a blessed handheld windmill.
The temple for the "good business"If works Ill invite you for dinner and bring Him a bigger incense stick.Suggestion: bring your own incese from home, if you buy in the temple, just that shops have a "good business" 😁.In the left side of the temple, "spin the fan blades" clockwise help if the present year is bad, anti-clockwise help if last year was bad.I did both....just in case
I love this temple the most in HK. I love the way officer and people handle visitors who come to temple and the temple is really beautiful and calm. One of the must go for Hong Kong
Remember to get the auspicious paper fan inside the temple/outside the temple, which costs at HK$18-68. This fan will bring you good fortune and blow away your bad luck with the wind.Remarks: you can get the fortune card given by the temple for free inside the temple. Do NOT take the card outside the temple as they are NOT freebies and the disturbers expect you to give them some TIPS!2it is more convenient to come from Taiwai MTR station. The goddess:車公 is also famous at fortune telling and helps his worshipers to get rid of sickness. Every Chinese New Year, the government official comes to this temple to get the prediction on HK future. Get the bamboo stick at the left for picking the stick telling his predication about what you have asked for.At the right, there are one cooper fan and several drums. Turn the fan to blow your bad luck away and greeting the goddess by hitting the drum. Have a try and get some good fortune as other local worshippers😉
A wonderful place of Another place in Hong Kong. Hiding in a small road on the way there are Chinese monks booth of them a different face and chapters till to the top of the hill. And then highlight here is in the church with a small buddha coppy set on the 3 sides of the church wall until the ceiling. It is very beautiful and peaceful (Do not take pictures / videos)
Lots of tourists especially Thai. Good place to visit Hong Kong atmosphere.
Very cool and respectful temple. History and authenticity makes this a very interesting and worthwhile attraction to visit. A unique experience to visit such a holy location. I wish they had a pamphlet in English to educate us more on the history and significance of this temple. Otherwise it was worth the trip.
Famous temple people come to pray for everything better.
Quite a small place, a lot of incense in the air which can irritate your eyes-so do bring some water to flush it out of your eyes. When taking pictures, the staffs bins are an eyesore, maybe place them somewhere else? As they kinda ruin the theme of the temple.Very little souvenirs shops, used to be loads. Otherwise, its a pretty cool place.
Green and good weather. Staffs are very friendly. Good bless wish from god.
The temple was built in honour of Che Kung or General Che, a great general of Song Dynasty(宋朝. It was said that during an epidemic that broke out in Sha Tin in late Ming Dynasty, residents of Sha Tin found out from historical writings that Che Kung was not only merited for his successful suppression of uprisings, he was also known for clearing epidemics wherever he set foot in. People therefore built a temple to house Che Kung in Sha Tin. The epidemic subsided, so the story goes, on the day the construction of the temple was completed.
Quite far from city but able to walk from Tai Wai station. Please ask the staff about steps to wish god.
I am so inlove with this place. Very peaceful and very fresh air as it is in between mountains. People are approchable because I was a bit lost. But there is this woman even if we dont understand each other I just mentioned "Che Kung Temple" she showed me the way. This is a must visit temple. I did not take photos inside the temple because I felt like it needs a lot of respect but I think you can take photos.
It takes 5 minutes walk from Tai Wai station(MRT).Many Asian tourists and locals pay respect to Che Kung for a properous life.
This is one of the most revered Chinese temples in HK, honoring a deity called Che Kung who was supposed to protect the localities for centuries. Besides local Chinese many visiting Thai tourists come to pay their respects, especially in the early morning you will see bus loads of Thai tour groups arriving. Definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in the local culture.
Che kung temple is the temple was built for Chekung man.
This temple is visited a lot by locals during the Chinese New Year. People come here wishing for the god to bring them good fortune. The wind wheels are the signature item to signify good fortune turning around to the believers.
Che Kung Temple is easy to go and near mtr stations. There are many people during holidays.
Super busy on lunar new years but well organised. Make sure u have someone that knows cantonese and what to do
A well furnished religious attraction in Hong Kong. One of the most visited Taoist temples for Hong Kong people, especially on the third day of Chinese New Year, which has become a tradition for some local citizens. There is an interesting story explaining why this Sung-dynasty general became so famous and was even worshiped as a god. There is a massive statue of this general within the temple and a lot of crafted paintings on the walls around the temple. These paintings are from the Chinese Classics (i.e.The Twenty-four Filial Examplars 二十四孝 and The Thirty-Six Stratagems 三十六計 ). However, there is no direct relationship of these stories with the general worshipped inside the temple.
An alternative temple for those visiting and willing to explore the suburbs of Hongkong. Ensure you do walk around the complex and respect the local customs. (Just ask if needed to)
We come near to clodesntime. It is very private.
Great temple for tourists and for those who need to be successful in doing business.
A temple. It is hard to be there without anyone that understands the local customs.
Che Kung Temple is a good temple visit in Sha Tin. There is a smaller old temple past the newer large complex which was designed in Japanese manner and style around 15 years ago. It is large and quite attractive. The courtyard area is nice and there is a giant statue of Che Kung that is well worth seeing inside the temple building. If you dont mind maddening crowds, an interesting time to visit Che Kung Temple is during the annual Chinese New Year festival period, when 1000s of locals flock to the temple to worship, burn incense and pray for luck for the new year. This can be a memorable and enjoyable experience to watch as a visitor to Hong Kong.Because the Che Kung Temple is not located that close to other major tourist attractions, we dont generally recommend seeing this attraction unless you plan to spend time in Sha Tin. If so, then it is a place worth visiting along with the 10,000 Buddha monastery also in Sha Tin.Hint: It is best reached by taking the Che Kung MTR exit, just follow the signs for a short 3-4 minute walk.
Lively temple and one of the larger ones in Hong Kong
Visited this temple during Chinese New Year and although it was crowded the atmosphere was great and the temple statues, murals and architecture were really amazing. So long as you can handle overpowering incense (common in all temples its is definitely worth visiting any time of the year.
I took the train from Tung Chung Station, which is taking me ard an hour to the temple. When you reach Tai wan station, looking for exit B , walk along the way And cross the tunnel. The temple will in front of you. 3-5 mins walk. You have to enter the temple in the front. Make sure which side is the front one. If you have your own pendant, you can bring it. No need to buy pendant there. The staffs there are really nice and they can speak Thai. Btw easy to go there and they have instruction provided. Good luck
very nice chinese temple, and there are many old prey methods such as drum,, turbine, money pot, etc, for making you lucky and wealth.
A must visit while in Hong Kong. The Che Kung statue is awe inspiring. Behind the statue is another temple that is closed to the public, that was the original Che Kung temple. If you plan to spin the pin wheel to change you luck, please remember to light three incense sticks. Also guys spin the pin wheel with your left and ladies with the right hand. Please only spin the pin wheel clockwise.
A lot of traveller here, most of them come here for praying from che kung and hope their life will be better or lucky. The symbol of this temple is windmill. You can come to this place and get the recommendation from staffs for the ways to pray.
A must-go sightseeing in Hong Kong for whom may like temple, a clean toilet, easy to access, parking outside the temple, feature souvenirs…
Nice place to worship. Easy access by MTR or city bus.
One great local temple. Stay away from the cny thought, if you dont want to be squished by the intensive crowd.
This was a very nice temple. Nothing massive and spectacular, and yet there was a very nice atmosphere here. Its definitely worth a visit. Im giving it 5 stars because I had a great time. Not very easy to reach, a bit distant from Hong Kong (1 hour by train: youll need to change three different mtr lines and get ready cose it will be very crowded wherever you go, but hey this is Hong Kong). If youre OK with spending more money, go there by taxi and come back by train (easier to find a taxi in Hong Kong than outside the temple). We went there by train and it was so packed you have no idea. But still, worth it to go there.
