Seven Hanging Valleys Trail - Hiking area in Faro, Portugal
Absolutely beautiful rock formations and beach. Well worth the journey!
Nice trail with beautiful view over the ocean
Remember to wear sport shoes, slippers are not smart choice for here, although it’s a “entry-level-hiker friendly” trail.
Absolutely stunning walk along the cliffs. There are rock formations, a lighthouse, many beaches/coves to see. We were there in the height of summer and werent able to do the entire walk due to the heat. Also worth bringing water with you and good footwear. Some parts of the trail could be challenging for some as can be narrow paths and steep inclines.Definitely worth it for the views!
A great way to see the sea, beaches and the colourful cliffs. Dont forget to bring the swimming custom so you can cool down after the walk.
Beautiful public trail that allows you to walk around and see amazing views. Be sure to wear sneakers or some type of hiking shoes but make sure you bring a towel for the beach.
The trail has a lost of breathtaking views. It takes around 3h to complete it but we stopped a lot for pictures along the way.
Must do walking trail. Be prepared and bring water with you. The whole trail back and forth is 6 hours, it is correct if you stop often for pictures. Beautiful sceneries. We recommend!
Beautiful views and stunning scenery. Can get quite busy in both directions. Bring lots of water if tackling during the day. Moderate walk with rocky trails but no need for any specialist gear. Bring study shoes / sandals. Route is well trodden and sign posted.
Great little beach with facilities and food trucks at the top. Stunning views.
Stunning hike, medium difficulty. In the summer heat we made sure to bring lots of water. Parking was closed off so we had to park 1km away from the start. Not a problem. Follow the red and yellow markers. We decided to walk both ways and it took around 5 hours.
Most spectacular views my eyes have ever seen. Breathtaking ocean views and cliff views that will be remembered forever...my son yelled out this place has been my Microsoft screensaver for 10 years and now i find it and see it live !!
Breathtaking scenery. Amazing. The waves may play tricks on you. Once second ur chilling and a second later a surprise wave starts a sailors adventure for your towel...
Great place to visit from boat. The beach stinks
The Algarve is one of the most beautiful places in the world and you can get a great taster by following this signed coastal walk.Beautiful scenery, breathtaking views, plenty of places to hydrate and refuel along the way. You don’t need walking boots or sticks but don’t do it in flip-flops or sandals either!
Heavenly walk with stunning views. Have to clamber a few up and down a few rocks but nothing to tricky. I would recommend walking footwear. Take water!
Wonderful area, a little over rated but very nice - few hours is enough…Kayak be reading for waves and turbulence- dry bag a must however with a deposit you can have one on site - tour guide very good
What a beautiful area! Between the beaches, the red cliffs, the hiking, and kayaking there is plenty to enjoy. Surprisingly, there were not many places to eat so that keeps very nature focused. When going down the beach, you will find a gate made of stone that is the entrance of cave. It looks like it goes nowhere but if you pass the small stones at the beginning, the path gets very easy to walk and you end up in a secret beach... Much less popular than the main beach and really as good... Possibly even better as it provides more shadow.
Great 5.7km trail along the coast with great views on cliffs, sea, caves, sinkholes, and scrubby nature. Especially arriving west of Praia da Marinha gives you spectacular views. Trail is reasonably marked and certainly easy doable as long as at least you wear sport shoes and have water with you. If own transport, then parking near Benagil (big car park just east, just before going down to the small port), so you can walk both directions with your transport as base in the middle.
One of the most beautiful trails of the Algarve. 6 km long path along the cliffs with views that you will take with you for the rest of your life! Amazing rock formations, hidden beaches, inaccessible caves and crashing waves in sinkholes right on the trail you will walk on, all with the blue of the ocean filling everything else. Absolutely recommendable!
Such a great hike! We had a good pace and finished in ~2hrs one way. Took an Uber back to the trailhead.
Its so beautiful to Walk by the klippen and dont Fall down! I realy hate highs because i could fall down and break my left arm but it was safe for me because of the sun in my pocket and a red bull so i can fly like a Bird
This trail is Awesome. The views are breathtaking. There are a couple of steep sections but nothing major. There is a fair bit of up and down with lots of flat sections between the valleys. We stopped many times for pictures and we stopped into a Cafe in Benagil for a snack and a beer. It took us 3.5 hours one way. There is no point in rushing. It is too beautiful. We stayed at hotel in carvoeiro took taxi to Prai de Marina for 10 Euros. Took the trail back to our hotel.
Espectaular! Breathtaking landscape for coastal hikes! This place is truly magical😍
I have hiked all over the US and this trail blows them out of the water. Breathtaking views along the entire trail. I recommend finishing at the O STOP for an amazing sunset and sangria.
Amazing trail, we got there in the morning around 8-9 am, so there was no people, it took about 2 hours to walk the trail, we enjoyed it very much. Totally recommend to come here!
Stunning, wow, wow wow a must see. Stairs down. Beach hut. Wavey
Stunning view and wonderful trail! Thought we got lost a bit once we arrived at benagil. Tips: go up the hill on the left of the entrance of the beach then when you arrive at the parking, go through it and youll find the path again.
The walk “Seven hanging valleys trail” is definitely recommended! We had high expectations from some of the blogs we had read, and they were more than true! The views are sublime and unforgettable. We skipped the beaches because they were too crowdy, but the walk itself was super rewarding. Good shoes are not an unnecessary luxury. You also need water: we drank 4.5 liters of water quickly (and it was the end of September). We walked from Praia Marinha to Praia de Vale Centianes: in the morning we parked our car at Praia de Vale Centianes and for 6€ we were taken to Praia Marinha by Uber!
Magnificent cliffs of Portuguese south sea coast.
Beautiful trail! You can join anywhere on the trail and choose to go as far as you want and turn around when you’ve had enough. On your way you’ll find lovely nature, beautiful beaches and plenty of sightseeing spots.Parking can be a hassle so make sure you investigate that before going. AllTails was a great help in keeping us on track. There are a lot of ups and downs, loose stones, and very few shady areas - so keep that in mind!
A bit to crowed and too touristic, but a visit is highly recommended!
This place is breathtaking! A place like no other and it is worth to visit it no matter if you are coming by the car or train! And an extra boat cruise is perfect, but take a small boat because it goes in few caves as well.
Beautiful!!!! You should visit this place when the tide is low.
Really stunning hike over the cliffs and rock holes of this amazing piece of Algarve coast. Even our 3 kids of 10, 11 and 13 yrs old liked it, unseen! We did a 30 break at one of the beaches that was also very nice. Must admit we did go back by Uber as it would have been too heavy to walk back seen the heat
Very nice walk, with beautyfull surroundings.
Great beaches and fantastic views!!!
Beautiful trail with stunning views. Do go to the Bengali caves from Bengali Beach on the way. Book your boat trip in advance as they easily fills up.
Very pleasant walk along the stunning coast. Adequate footwear is recommended and decent physical condition (there are some steps). 4-6 hours return, depending on the pace and how many stops for taking pictures or going for a swim in the beaches along the way. Definitely recommend
Yes, youu have to do it, its fantastic! But note that:1the path is clearly marked as far as Benagil, where it abruptly finishes and you have to go through small Benagil streets to find it again;2)it is easy and simple until Benagil but if you choose to do it all to the last Vale from Praia da Marinha and back, it starts to be heavy and difficult.3)Be sure to have a good pair of shoes, sometimes the path is steep or made of stones moving under your feet, this can be dangerous;4Keep away from the rim of the cliffs, they are seldom sheltered and very very dangerous expecially in a windy day.
Some stunning views along this walk. There are places to eat/drink at each end and a couple in the middle. It’s easier to follow the trail west to east which was my return route. I missed some markers east to west and detoured a little!
Lovely honeycomb colour limestone cliffs topped with stands of Juniper, dropping down to the green Atlantic. Surprisingly easy steps to get to beach areas. Unfortunately very crowded on the Friday we visited. Strong waves and rocks made for poor swimming conditions.
Stunning! I did some hikes in the past in the mountains, but this one is very dear to my heart! We did the hike from 6:40 pm to 9pm so that we catch the sunset on the trail. The light of the sunset made the landscape look like a fairytale scene. If you ever find yourself in this area you should definitely do this hike! The trail is very easy and does not require any hiking skills or good physical condition.
Fabulous, definitely needs better signposting and it’s so funny how there’s barriers everywhere eeeexcept where it’s really dangerous and exposed
Amazing how quiet it is. Enjoy this path while you breath in some fresh air and listen to the waves and birds. The 🤍 in the rocks is of course amazing to check and try to play with the nature around it to find different shapes!
🌱Nature at its best, marvelous formations and lovely beaches. A great place to see when Algarve, hiking is fun and not so hard, uneven gravel bit gives it that hiking feel to it. 🙃
Great place to hike! It’s a very beautiful place to take a hike, you’ll see the waves crashing to the cliffs and you see that blue greenish sea.It is very wonderful and it’s friendly without many steep paths. The path has uphill and downhill, but not exhausting or very steep. Will come again 🥰You can park right at the start!
Amazing hike connecting Marinha and Vale do Centeanes beaches. Breathtaking views from the coast side and plenty of “hidden” beaches! You also get to take a quick swim to refresh yourself at Benagil beach along the way!
Great trail with amazing views of the Algarve. Theres signs with interesting information about the area, but at some points the trail is not very well signalized. It gives a great opportunity to go down to different beaches. It gets very hot during the summer so be prepared to sweat and take water and sun protection.
Not always the best marked trail, but easy enough to follow generally as it follows the coast. Be careful at Benagil beach as the trail is not clear and easy to miss the turn once you’re directed to follow the road. No shade or vendors along the trail itself so come prepared with plenty of water. Full distance round trip is just over 8 miles.
