Hyde Park, Serpentine Rd, London W2 2UH, El Dorado
Glass-walled building on park lakefront, serving breakfast, pizzas, salads and comfort classics.
Firstly never in my life have I asked for a refund on food as I get things happen. But today was just ridiculous. Ordered 2 full English breakfasts and 2 drinks which came to a pretty extortionate £38. That aside it sounded nice. I asked if I could order more sour dough toast to which I got looked at funny and told I can’tove as it’s not on themenu, even though it comes with the breakfast. I asked specifically for crispy bacon other than that a simple order. Once food turned up I noticed no sour dough and what looked like a lump of slightly burnt focaccia or something and also no eggs. I went up and spoke to someone who said they would bring the eggs over. 10 minutes later still no eggs. In the end went back to the counter and just asked for a refund. Food was poor, service was mediocre and I struggle to see how they can get not one but two English breakfasts wrong. I’ve eaten in much cheaper places and got much better food and service. Nearly £40 for 2 I expected something half decent but I was sorely disappointed
Walking across Hyde Park, you are drawn towards the bar. Its position is fantastic, looking over the Serpentine towards the setting sun.Inside, it is closer to a fast food establishment. I was hoping to be served in a relaxed lakeside cafe. Instead, I had to join an ill-defined queue.Forgetting that, I enjoyed sitting with a beer and snack, overlooking the lake. It added to the pleasure of the walk.
Inexpensive and good food and drink with a great view of the pond. It can get crowded on nice days. There is no wifi. Pizzas are delightful and about 14”
Endless happiness during my visits Serpentine Bar & Kitchen.AutumnSpringWinterSummerEach time when I am here all the insignificant things are vanishing.Beautiful view, always helpful and smiling stuff, yummy food.Thank you Serpentine Bar & Kitchen! See You table number 77 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A lovely spacious setting on The Serpentine Lake in Hyde Park. It was not busy the morning I was there and I found it very peaceful sitting inside (out of the cool breezewatching the bird life. Ample outdoor seating is available as well on a clement day. The venue is well designed with a good use of space surrounded with floor to ceiling glass. I had granola with fruit for breakfast and it was very tasty with a plain Greek style yogurt. The serving was smallish which suited me but may disappoint those with a larger appetite. My coffee wasn’t bad either. Be aware you must find a table first, know your table number then order at the counter. I walked in and went straight to the counter and was rather brusquely told ‘the rule’😊. I hope to return for lunch sometime before heading home. Just a lovely place to sit and a would be perfect with a G&T or glass of wine in hand.🍸🥂Went back next day for fruit and granola breakfast and it’s no longer on the menu 😭😭😭 Ordered the eggs Benedict which was cold and terribly disappointing!🫤 The coffee was good and hot! (Not too hot!A bit of a queue this morning but staff remained calm and pleasant. Overall not quite 4 ⭐️ but more than 3⭐️
Im not a tourist so no rose tinted glasses here! Quite simply the most over priced, bland-food supplying place Ive ever eaten at. £7 for a beer, £30 for a bottle of wine. Really Limited menu. Dirty tables. Nothing to really recommend
The view of this place wins! I loved the Victoria Sponge Cake so much.. it’s like a piece of fluffy happiness. The egg sandwich was ok. I wish they have heating service. The place looked a bit chaotic and didn’t know how to order or which line to stand behind. It was busy and not many people around to talk to. Over all it’s a great place to enjoy a bite and the Hyde park’s lake.
Just about ok. We ordered fish and chips, with a beer. NOT CHEAP. What arrived was fish and salad with the excuse that they had run out of chips. No reduction in what we paid and only just an appology. As it was late and no other place close by we had to accept. Would I come again. Only if I could ensure at time of ordering (and payingthat everything was stocked.
Service is good, quality of food and drinks are not the best.In reply. Your selection of food is large, but the quality of both the food itself and drink were in my opinion high quality. Lack of taste is one word to use.
Waiters were really nice and so was the view.Food was tasty, but pricey (understandable because it is located in Hyde Park). And I had a caramel macchiato that was literally a SHOT of macchiato..
Always busy but pricey. Cappuccinos were £3.55 each. Food is also overpriced. Usually have to que to be served. Outside dining area is pleasant except when the pigeons start sniffing around for food.
Order at bar and delivery to table is very rapid. Food is OK quality, but expensive.Restaurant/ toilets / tables are really disgusting and sticky. Spider webs and animal feces inside. Please send a continuous cleaning service.Came here multiple times in the past Years but unfortunately my experience here declined ):View is amazing and the ducks around are amazing.
Appalling! Filthy restaurant. Dirty floor, couldn’t find a table that was clean. We went at 10am in a Tuesday so it’s not like they were at the end of a busy service. My order was completely wrong. Filthy toilets, most of them broken with no toilet paper. Bad experience. Avoid.
I’m so glad that shakshuka is making the rounds in breakfast menus around the city. Usually a lot of places don’t quite get it right, and it tends to be sitting in tomato liquid (blech!but I was very very happy with the order here.We got here fairly early in the morning and had a great choice of tables (which is usually never the case), and in full honesty, my expectations were quite low seeing that it’s in the center of tourist foot traffic. Oh boy, was I surprised!I’d definitely go back here just for my dose of shakshuka!
A full English breakfast with amazing view. The only bad thing is one of the stuffs attitude called Llina isn’t very friendly. I will hesitate not to come here again next time.
The location is the only good thing about it. It has a lovely view. There are only 6 alcoholic drink options that arent wine and they didnt even have all of them in stock. The cider I had was awful and flat and the IPA my partner had (as they didnt have Corona in stockwas also terrible. We both ordered food, the chips were okay but the burger and pulled pork sandwich I had were very average, didnt really taste of anything. We ended up still being hungry afterwards so went to McDonalds.Dont recommend at all, stop by to see the view but dont stay for drinks or food.
Excellent service and pleasant view of the serpentine. Reasonable prices for central London. I would not hesitate to come again, inside seating and outside if weather permits.
A lovely view and good foodYou can see the sunset from there
Maybe this place was good at some point. But the whole place was super dirty, and food was stale, tasteless and poorly prepared. Tables were greasy, and covered with crumbs that no one had bothered to clear up. The ordering process was confusing. Service was ridiculous - someone just plopped the food and a bunch of greasy forks on the table.Coffee was decent. Pastries were ok I think (did not try). Maybe get a coffee to go and sit outside.
Took 45 minutes to get our salads to the table without any chicken on it so should have been quick. No idea how long It stayed under the heat lamps but had over priced room temperature salad.
Very average Hamburger.A little bit expensive. The Hygiene is not that good (the tables were very sticky…We ate here only for the great view.
Very impressed with the quality of the food. On the expensive side however their vegetarian option; lentil burger was absolutely amazing. Fresh ingredients and freshly made, even though had to wait 40mins was worth the wait. To be fair it was during their very busy period. Menu is limited however understandable given the nature of where it is located and the demographic it serves.Definitely would go again!
Dirty grimy pretty crowded not cheap. Had 2 iced lattes on a hot sunny day on one end of a table shared with another party right next to the Serpentine. With a light breeze and a shady seat it wasnt too bad at all.
Cant say I did much, but amazing building and architecture I have noticed. Dont expect to be blown away by service or product, your here for the view and the park. Its quit busy, especially on weekends and holidays, so a place to sit is a luxury, but when you do get a seatits a beautiful place to be.Like mentioned, I didnt get much and so didnt pay much either. I cant give you a proper estimate on what you will pay per person.
I did not eat here but I have rarely seen more disorganisation for coffee service on my life. Waiting over 20 minutes to receive coffee is unacceptable. No sign of any supervision or management anywhere for the staff who were completely out of their depth.
Half of the tables outside is covered in bird-feces, you have to wait in line 15min to order, then wait 30min for your food. Half of the menu wasn’t available. Ordered fish&chips and a hamburger, it was the most tasteless I’ve ever had. The staff doesn’t know how to smile. The view is nice though.
Definitely not 4 stars- tables were dirty and sticky. Despite asking for it to be wiped. Food was mediocre at best pulled pork sandwich was tiny with small portion of stodgy undercooked fries. Definitely not worth £12 not worth coming to. Toilets are as equally as disgusting
Popular and for a reason. The views are amazing and you can enjoy a long walk in the park afterwards. Definitely recommend!
For the view, being in Hyde park and meeting friends, its lovely. Service shockingly slow, my husband waiting 30mins to get a drink! This was a very busy sunny Saturday though at the snack bar, not the actual restaurant, so that wasnt as busy. Lots of seating, good vibes. Very touristy, but it is central London. Maybe best on a weekday.
Really nice place to sit out over the lake in Hyde park. Not over priced considering as where the bar is. Had a lovely afternoon there.
Offers a good snack at lunch time. The indoors area is very hot in a summer day. Out side is okay but only if you find a shaded area. Mens toilets are you out of order
Visited 2 times and always perfect.👍 When the weather is nice even better!✌️🌞 We enjoyed nice morning with tasty English breakfast and nice view!👏☕️ See you next time.😉
Nice coffee and lunch restaurant in the middle of Hyde Park. Perfect for refreshments during your walk around the park. Nice view from the outdoor seating area.
Great view with delicious pizza, worth to try
Food was avarage and the quality was poor, slow service and very not taking care of little details like the cleaning of the tables; the surfaces was super sticky. The pizza looks really good, but when you eat it is just like a plain frozen pizza, dont have flavour at all.I think is quiet over rate the prize that you pay for this pizza I guess you just pay for the location
Just the right place to get a drink or something. Didnt try the food here, but looked good. The best part is obviously the beautiful view. So many options, snacks, proper meals, coffee, soft drinks. Be careful with the swans and ducks, they might steal your fries if you sit by the lake 😁
This is a good spot to stop and have a break while strolling in Hyde Park. The view is fabulous and the terrace big enough to find a seating. However food choice is limited and the queuing inside is not a great experience.Coffee was good.
A bit disorganised, long queue to order, ovetall good place to chill by the lake.
Great place to have breakfast and the coffee is fab. Its popular with the birds too!
Delicious coffee and beautiful location. However, if one expects to use the faculties during their stay, I would highly recommend making the two minute walk towards a public bathroom to save themselves from an incredibly memorable experience.
Had a great vegan salad and a delicious Camden Pale Ale in a wonderful location. Can recommend sitting here by the water to pass an hour as I did. Will return again, as long as the weather is good of course!FOLLOW for more reviews! Cheers.
We went there to have breakfast in the park, but the service serving coffee was a bit rude at 8 a.m. and the food quality was really poor. It’s a shame when a well-located place is not meeting expectations. The rest of service was fine. I hope it will improve!
A great spot in sunny day just overlooking hide park lake to have a bite and a beer!We had a BBQ pulled pork burger and two lagers and we loved it .
Stopped here for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning on a cloudy/rainy day in March and it was still very popular. The café has plenty of seating inside and outside so we got an inside table quickly. The best thing about the café clearly is its location with lovely views over the Serpentine, mwhich feels great even on a rainy day. I had the vegan porridge with raisins/cinnamon and my husband had a breakfast sandwich. Both were good and price was reasonable for a London café in such a lovely location. My photos include the full menu. You go up to order your food and then it is delivered to the table.Service was good despite it being busy and staff were going around cleaning the tables.Lots of runners seem to stop here outside after their run for a coffee/snack and lots of families/couples having breakfast/brunch.
The location and the view - fantastic.Sat outside with our breakfast. The whole ambience makes it worthwhile. So one has to have a table first and then order. The drinks can be picked up next to the cash counter but the food is delivered at the table.Had ordered shakshouka. It was nice.
The best thing about this restaurant is obviously the view. You can sit and have a drink or have a meal overlooking the lake in Hyde Park which is beautiful. In summer it is always busy but it is worth waiting to have a table and have some drinks on a sunny day. Food in general is ok, you wont be disappointed.
The place is nice and lovely to sit in and have lunch in the park. The view outside is relaxing and beautiful. Food is good nothing special but a bit expensive for what it is. Staff were friendly. We had chips and pizza which both was good.
Drinks were not bad, the food I tried was decent apart from the scones which tasted of bicarb. Location is great. but experience spoiled by the bird dirt and feathers everywhere outside. tables left not cleared OR cleaned, plus the birds sitting on and eating off the tables.
Even on a rainy day it was nice to be able to relax and watch the world go by ever so slowly next to the Serpentine. Good service, clean and a good choice of drinks, snacks and even wood fired pizzas on the menu. The entertainment is provided by the birds; the heron patrolling for scraps of food, the young geese landing on the lake in a display of uncontrolled splashing and the moore hens ducking down to find food for their young 🐦
Lovely location to chill and enjoy nature in the middle of a big city. On warm nice days like todays its chaos. People can come in and out as they please and whoever manage to grab a table or spot people leaving is a winner basically... Drinks were fine and didnt try the food but was looking OK too.
