Serious Texas BBQ South Durango, CO. in Durango
Description
Privilege
We miss Serious Texas in Farmington, NM so its always a treat when we stop in Durango. Great food and outdoor atmosphere. We stumbled on to very good live music too. A+++++
MoreStopped in and had the brisket, it was juicy and tender just the way you would expect it to be. The bbq sauce they have is had a good flavor but way thinner consistency than any bbq sauce Ive ever had so it soaked into the bun really easy making the bread soggy.
MoreFantastic BBQ right off the trail.
I Dont Like Leaving A Negative Review, But I Am A HUGE BBQ Fan, And I Have To Say That This Is Absolutely The WORST BBQ That Ive Ever Ate In My Whole Life!! The Brisket Is Full Of Fat MAINLY FAT And Everything Else That We Tried Was Not Anything To Talk About At All. There BBQ SAUCE IS Tasteless and Greasy, I REALLY WANTED TO HAVE SOME DELICIOUS FOOD BUT THEY SURE DONT HAVE IT AT ALL. ☹️ BEAUTIFUL ambiance in Restaurant But TERRIBLE BBQ, You Guys Need Some TRUE HELP, I Would Start by Getting Better Cutts Of MEAT 🍖 And Change Your Sauce, Sorry Guys, But I CANT EVEN Tell That You Smoked The Meats????
MoreWell for a Saturday night and probably one of the only places to get something to eat past 9pm I am no impressed with my food. Got the pulled pork taco. Just the meat and a Tortilla. Really are you serious!? I understand people are short staffed, but my hell! I appreciate essential workers and what you do. But please throw some cheese, lettuce something other than meat and a Tortilla.
MoreGreat family night out. Play miniture golf and have a nice dinner with friends and family. The food is amazing. My only complaint was when they get busy the manager on shift kinda lost her composure and it showed towards her customers. I get that things get stressful but never should management or employees of any business take it out on a customer.
MoreGreat food and friendly staff. We have to eat here everytime we are in town. Last there on 09/11/22 and they were giving free meals for veterans and first responders. This place is awesome. Keep up the good work.
MoreQuick bite before the roller derby bout- even snuck in some mini golf!~ I think the food is getting better each visit- maybe because I am willing to try more!!! The chicken sandwich is great and the hubby loves the BBQ Taco. It was such a nice evening I actually will make a point to have dinner with my family there again- just to spend a bit of time together.
MoreGreat vibe. Reasonable priced and always hot and delicious.I love the outside seating and mini golf. Always a fun and fulfilling place to eat. Definitely a place to visit in DGO.
MoreYes, yes, yes! We really enjoyed the food. Meat, sandwiches, loaded potato, or nachos, with a much BBQ sauce as you want at the table (sweet or spicy). Dont forget to ask for some of the condiments listed on the menu to add some more flavor to your meal. I really enjoyed the cherry salsa and hot mustard they have. I was not a fan of the coleslaw, but everything else was amazing!! And, we thought it was reasonable priced too
MoreCustomer Service was wonderful here! They were so busy; person after person and we had a large order and the 2 girls making the food didnt give attitude and were really helpful when we were trying to decide what we wanted. The guy cashing everyone out was polite and helpful as well. A++ on the customer service as well as how delicious the food was!
MoreWe were able to catch them just before closing with a small group of students after a concert at the college. They were very accommodating and helpful. I love this companys barbecue. I only wish the branch in Bloomfield New Mexico would have been able to make it. Next time youre in try the fully loaded smoked potato or the sampler plate! :-)
MoreI always enjoy eating here when I can! I wish they would come to Littleton.
This place is great for lunch but gets busy. The brisket sandwich is fantastic and so is the BBQ sauce. Its busier ordering then it is for seating alot of people get it to go and they have a drive thru. Its worth going just for the view when sitting outside.
MoreI ordered the brisket and cheesy potatoes. My wife got the loaded baked potato. Food was delicious. We sat out back with great view of the river and had awesome live music. Highly recommend
MoreTheir food is delicious. The only thing I think they can offer is plates or bowls to put the food in. We buy the large sizes and serve family style. The Serious we went to is right on the Animus River, they also had singing entertainment. The views are spectacular.
MoreHoly dried out meat!!! The chicken and Brisket point were both dry as a bone and required a serious drowning in sauce to eat.Pinto beans- Undercooked and crunchyCheesy potatoes- BlandNachos- several large chunks of unmelted velveetaSausage wrap- too cold to melt the shredded cheeseBeer- Cold-ishI don’t mean to be over harsh- but the Real Serious Texas BBQ’ers wouldn’t have put this food on a plate. Sorry guys!
MoreMy Brisket sandwich was just OK, my wifes pulled pork sandwich was dry and the little one did not care for his ribs, Last the Mac and Cheese tasted like it was covered in velveta cheese sauce.
MoreThis was such great food! We got the sampler, nachos and Texas taco for our family. I really loved the Texas taco! There was a really fun country vibe. We all enjoyed it.
MoreAnother clean plate. Back again. Great BBQ meats! Had the brisket beef sandwich with potato salad. Tender and juicy brisket. Potato salad was good. Was here a couple of days ago and had the pulled pork sandwich with a side of chipotle cole slaw. Sandwich was very tasty with the cherry chipotle salsa. The coleslaw however, wasn’t what I prefer. I like mine sweet and wet. This location is a order at the window. Can’t speak for other locations. So, don’t expect to be waited on. However, the young staff are enthusiastically behind the counter. Entrees are À la carte, sides are separate. Oh, and no fries here. They Maike up for it with their cheesy potatoes (which are tater tots with melted cheese). Thanks Serious and staff!
MoreWhen I say this place is 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 man I just wanted to keep eating even though I was about to burst. This bbq almost compares to the one in Houston I go to💯. They are not expensive and VERY filling. Anyone in the area I Most Definitely suggest to stop and eat here and make sure you have time afterwards to just check out the scenery all around. My husband I had the sampler with Mac and cheese and cheese potatoes, though I do suggest maybe add some nacho cheese on the potatoes cause they are a little on the dry side, but still good!
MoreI have to say that was the best BBQ Ive had in Colorado we had the sampler platter could not finish it save for later Im from Texas and its just like Texas BBQ the name says it All serious Texas BBQ
MoreAbsolutely terrible, the staff was unkind, rude and in such a hurry to get us out it was ridiculous. After eating our dinner that was way over priced, it made me and my son very sick. My wife ordered nachos and she only got 12 chips for $20. I would never recommend that anyone ever eat here.
MoreAs a native Texan and avid BBQ fan I was skeptical about a BBQ restaurant in Colorado, even if it has Texas in the name. I can confidently say this is one of the better BBQ experiences I have had! Good value for the meat portions and a variety of tasty sides. Gorgeous view from the outdoor patio!
MoreLegit Texas bbq in Colorado. Brisket and ribs were fantastic, turkey and pulled pork were good. Mac and cheese was excellent. Potato salad was good although I like mine with more mustard than mayo. Great scenery and live music on the patio. They also have a mini golf course. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Have to order food then sit down, no table service. Evenings are quit busy.
MoreReally good smoked meats in Durango. The pulled pork, brisket, and chicken are excellent. Ribs were on the small side and not quite as tender. Iced tea was great!
MoreSingle register, only one order taken and prepared at a time. Wait was 20-30 minutes with people lined out the door with alot of tables open. It was good BBQ, but not so good it was worth the wait. Needs better organization
MoreI am so grateful for coming here tonight. I had a series of life changing events occur over the last few days and mentioned that to the lady taking my order and she put the entire meal on the house. I was not expecting that!! The only reason I shared this with them was because she asked,The food is delicious so come for that. For me, their authentic and genuine acts of kindness is why I would come back.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
MoreVisiting Durango for the first time and stopped in at seeming prime dinner time. Brisket was excellent. Cheesy potatoes where dry and crusty. Coleslaw did not have much of a flavor despite the flame on the menu. Mac & Cheese was hot and cheesy. Pork ribs where tasty but not falling off the bone tender; to be far, they rarely are in TX either. All items where reasonably priced. The ice cold Shiner Bock was a plus and great accompaniment to the meal.
MoreBrisket was dry a tasteless. No bark, no taste.Chicken was better.I stood in line for my pickup order called ahead, while folks ordered. Finally got to the head of the line, just as they asked me to grab a side in the fridge behind me for, huh? This was apparently for somebody elses order..WTH?My order was round the corner..dissatisfied, diss appointed. Not Texas BBQ, not even close
MoreGreat BBQ at a reasonable price! Its nacho time for me! Get yer grub on! 😋
We had dinner here on a recent Sunday evening. When we came in the line wasn’t bad, but it’s a popular place, and after we got our food the line got super long! The pros: excellent sandwiches with lots of meat and excellent ribs! The cons: no one wiping down tables or cleaning up the dining room, terrible tasteless coleslaw, and so-so macaroni & cheese, and no one refilling iced tea containers, etc. The beverage station was a mess! The employees seemed overwhelmed.
MoreWe werent really impressed with this BBQ joint. It was okay, but fairly expensive and not worth the expense, IMO. The mac&cheese was nothing to write home about. Their chipotle cole slaw was mostly cabbage with little sauce and even less spice. There are two kinds of BBQ sauce to choose from, their house flavor, which was pretty thin and watery, and super spicy. The pulled pork was pretty good, but the brisket was tough. I had to cut it with a knife. There is ample outside seating as well as inside and it is right next to the Animas River, so the atmosphere is great. There is also mini-golf, with a couple of holes, but Im unsure if there is an extra fee for that as we did not partake. So overall, great view, great atmosphere, meh food.
MoreI got the ribs and I was disappointed with the taste; They were a bit dry, so I added the "barbecue sauce". It had to have been one of the worst sauces. It was watery and didnt taste at all like barbecue. I ended up throwing most of it away.I certainly do not recommend this place.
MoreSuculantly wonderful. Huge Texas Taco and sandwiches. Awesome BBQ
Absolutely love the baked potato with pulled pork on top.
I’m from Texas so I was skeptical but let me tell you they did not disappoint! Very definitely Texas BBQ! They do have a few twist’s to the menu but the food was great! Friendly staff and a great atmosphere. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is due to the limited “Texas” beer selection. Highly recommend!
MoreLots of mix and match options here. Good BBQ place, easily accessible.
Wow Serious, Im curious if you care about your product anymore? Being born and raised here I remember supporting you when it was a food truck. When the North location first opened we use to take our $5 lunch money and get a taco and drink... Oh the good old days (not complaining about price, I understand food costs).Consistently over the past 9 months there have been continuous issues in the drive through. Forgotten sides, forgotten tacos, missed drinks etc. Yes times are hard with staffing, however these are basic mistakes. Today we ordered tacos, drinks, 1/4lb brisket and Coleslaw. Here is the fat that was not rendered or trimmed off the brisket. More than 2/3 fat. Here is the coleslaw (no it hasnt been taken a bite ofthis is how it came. Is it eaten? Low fill? Scooped out for a custom taco? From a LONG time patron: Care about your product, care about the service you give. Seems long are those days though...
MoreGot a half pound of brisket and it was excellent. I smoke my own brisket and am pretty picky about it and this is great. Also had a pulled pork sandwich and it was also fantastic.
MoreOn a tip from a friend we dropped into Serious Texas Bar-B-Q tonight for dinner. The location is great, with wonderful views down into the river. The BBQ pork and turkey sandwich were also on point. On the more disappointing side, the Mac & Cheese was meh, at best, which should never happen @ a BBQ joint, they were out of ice, the dining room was rather dirty, and flies inside the restaurant were a force to be reckoned with. Perhaps that adds to the ambiance for some, but for us it was a turn off. Having said that, there was a line of at least 30 people that formed right after us and stayed steady the entire time we were these so obviously the flies the size of Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons can’t stop the Durango patrons from their BBQ on a Sunday night. After dinner we sat out back for a few by the fire pit and watched the kids play putt putt. Fun little spot and next time we’ll eat outside.
MoreAs a native texan I would have to say that this is great as its going to get for "Texas BBQ" in Colorado. Only thing it was lacking was a stronger margarita; but no harm going back for a second one, or hell even a third margarita.Potato salad was good, bread could be way better as it appeared and felt to have once been frozen and then thawed out, atmosphere was nice, spicy bbq sauce was great. Almost lost a star over that bread though
MoreVery tasty brisket and excellent Texas style bbq sauce. The slaw was good. The pulled pork was also tasty, but we were there for proper brisket and werent disappointed.
MoreReally great restaurant does mostly take out and has a drive through window. You can get the menu my QR code. They are very generous with their portions and the food is delish.Their establishment is right on the river and you can watch rafters going by.They have a neat canopied out door section.
MoreI lived 20 years in Austin and over the years I have eaten at a lot of places that claimed to be "authentic Texas BBQ" and I was always greatly disappointed. This place is AWESOME! Amazing brisket and Elgin Sausage (real Texas sausage made 30 minutes from Austin). The patio view is awesome too! I will be stopping there every time Im in Durango.
MoreThis genuinely may be some of the best brisket Ive ever had. And the views from the back are phenomenal. I just stopped by not expecting much but was genuinely very impressed. Definitely recommend stopping in Durango!
MoreDuring a visit to Durango we rode on the bike trail along the river. The smell of BBQ lured us in. The food was fantastic and the setting was great with views of the river. Ordered the samplers plate and shared it between the two of us. Just enough for both of us. Not too busy in the dining area but really busy in the drive thru. Highly recommend.
MoreVisited on 8-14-2020Being from Texas I decided that we had to stop in here and eat as we were passing through Durango on a road trip. Ive eaten my fair share of Texas BBQ from Dallas to Houston to Austin so I consider myself to be a bit of a connoisseur. It was about 3pm so it was too early for us to eat a full dinner so my daughter and I split some BBQ Nachos with pulled pork. They were really good. The pork had a nice smokiness to it and was super tender. They heaped lots of cheese on the nachos and served it on a sheet of brown butcher paper. Gordon Ramsey might not approved of the plating but it definitely fit with the theme which had a rustic roadside feel to it.We sat out on the patio and enjoyed the view. If it wasnt so hot the day that we stopped by I probably would have enjoyed more than 1 beer out there and let my daughter drive the rest of the way to our destination. You sit wherever you want and order at the counter. The line moved pretty slow considering that there were only 5 or 6 people in front of us but Im not going to ding the restaurant to hard for that. Part of the reason that things move so slow is because in order to properly social distance they can really only process 1 order at a time. You basically order, get your food, and pay all in the same spot. I will leave it to management to come up with a more efficient process.Overall it was a great experience. We will definitely be back on our next pass through Durango to sample some of the other menu items.
MoreThis place really has no right to call itself serious or bbq. I ordered half rack of ribs and my friend ordered brisket. Neither was bbq although they did offer sauce. The meat was like pressed me as in some chicken nuggets. The flies outnumbered the customers by 50 to 1. The tables were dirty and the screens were just filled with flies. We really wanted to go to the counter and complain but people were not moving through the line very fast. They didn’t offer a plate to even eat on. Pure disgusting! I want my money back.
MoreAwesome bbq. The big 6 is awesome and perfect for 2 people if you get a side. I thought their chipotle coleslaw was not very good. I recommend the potato salad or cheesy potatoes. Great value for the meals though. Sauces are super good as well. I thought their bread was dry but that’s not what I came for. Brisket was 👌 perfect.
