Just ok, pretty expensive. 9 bucks for a small sausage roll that was mostly pastry and a regular Cafe Misto (perk coffee with some frothy milk). Gave us a to go mug when we were wanting to stay in with a real cup.

Friendly and efficient service. Also, we tried their classic nanaimo bar and it was probably the best one I had during our Nanaimo visit. It was more chewy and the chocolate was not as sweet. Good job!

Staff are always soooo kind!!! I went in today and Marred (farhad? I didn’t quite get their namewas super helpful and totally made my day a little bit brighter. I wish all staff at all shops were as nice as them!

Ok total Canadian thing.... but if you love an amazing Nanaimo bar OR if you have no idea what I am talking about, Serious Coffee is the place to go!!Yes they have won awards for their NANAIMO BAS AND RIGHTLY SO!! These delectable treats have a layer of chocolatey, coconut, walnut, graham cracker magical base, with a sweet creamy middle layer of yellow custard topped with a layer of chocolate. The key to these beauties is the ratio of each layer which Serious Coffee takes serious! They hold their form with every bite, and the custard is never grainy ( important detailand the crumbly base layer never crumbles apart(another important detail)Ive filled my face with MANY Nanaimo bars over the years and I mean MANY! In fact I actual will seek them out to find the best ones because nothing is worse than eating one that doesnt live up to expectations.So when we came across these it was like I had won the lottery!! They are pretty close to perfect IMO and if you love these like I do or have never had one Serious Coffee is the place to go!!Not sure about their coffee or other treats because I go there for the Nanaimo bars and have never had anything else!Its a good thing I dont live in Nanaimo, cause knowing how good they are I would be eating them everyday.Its a stop I make no matter what when ever I am on the Island!The BEST Nanaimo bars by far! And they have the hardware to back it up. Worth the price .....you wont regret it.

Friendly people, local businesses, nice little coffee shop. Popped in for a morning coffee on my walk while visiting. Got a latte. Would be nice if they added the sweeteners before the milk so they didnt stir their art 😂🤷‍♂️

Serious Coffee is a fantastic coffee spot in Nanaimo. First off, the service from the staff is amazing. They really take care of you and make the ordering process easy! Their menu has a couple of fun items such as Nanaimo Bar Latte and a couple of other “favourite items”. I got a regular iced latte and it was delightful. The coffee was roasted beautifully and it had a dark chocolatey taste!

Liked the coffee with brown sugar in it, ground London fog was alright, but packaged sweets from the earth "organic" peppermint Nanaimo bar made us nauseous

Great coffee that you can only find on the island! A bit pricy but that’s to be expected at a local coffee shop. Had the mango smoothie and it was pretty good. Nothing special about it. Their daily brewed coffee is good; not bitter or sour and they have locally sourced coffee beans to sell.

Really good coffee, Nanaimo bar and overall atmosphere. Have quite a bit of seating indoor and outdoor. The baristas were really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful in making suggestions.

The girls are always so friendly and quick to remember orders. My boyfriend and I are regulars there, and they know us - and even his dog - by name and check if they can provide a treat for him. Today they went above and beyond for a coffee order for my work group. Marin (sorry I’m awful with names and y’all are so good!walked replacement drinks over to us a few blocks away when they realized that the espresso machine was acting up. Thank you so much for always giving great service and quality food and drinks!

This is a pretty nice coffee shop in the heart of downtown Nanaimo. Its close to all the shops, restaurants, and the Art Gallery, and its a great place to cool off, hang out, and have a coffee and a snack.The staff are helpful and friendly and the drinks are tasty and generous. My only wish is for the decor to be a little less...1990s, but theres no arguing about taste. :)I strongly recommend Serious Coffee for anyone looking have a quick sip, a casual date, or just a place to hang out.

Dont know her name but the barista who made my chai tea latte was great! She made the tea perfect drinking temp, and on top of that her service skills are great! 10/10, great job!

I get coffee from Serious Coffee on Commercial Street in downtown Nanaimo daily and have never been disappointed. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and easy to chat with when they are not to busy. Kudos to you

The staff here are always friendly. The drinks are okay when youre on the go, but there are better places in town if you want an excellent coffee.

Updating a review, still fantastic :). Best baristas and the black forest mocha i have rightnow is great. Also really appreciate the little Christmas train.

This is a Vancouver Island chain of coffee houses - - a nice alternative to the look, feel and taste of Starbucks. They have lots to offer in the way of food items, coffees and other drinks. Be sure to check it out when youre on the island.

Nice coffee shop. Great coffee and friendly staff. Cool location with tons of seating (chairs by the fireplace are awesome). More unique and creative than many small chain coffee shops.

I found my dark roast to be watery and lacking flavour. I like the atmosphere but I was also disappointed that their whole menu is wrapped in plastic. Grab and go is great but they need a more sustainable way to.offer grab and go!

Cozy interior and a nice terrace right out front. You can share a pot of tea with a friend for under $3 which is awesome! And you can’t go wrong with any of the delicious sandwiches ;)

I like the layout of the shop and its got a great variety of sweet and savoury foods like breakfast bagels and muffins and scones.I tried a mocha latte and a breakfast cheese and jalapeno ham and egg bagel, deliciousThe next day I tried an iced chai latte and it was perfect.The staff is very sweet and they bring out your hot food to you when you sit down after ordering.Would definitely come back.

Stopped in for a quick lunch whole waiting for an appointment. London Fog was good, but the grilled cheese was great!!

Excellent milkshakes. And the best cappuccino I have ever had. It is a dry one, and they do it just right for me. There food is all excellent too. What goes a long way with them is the staff. They are friendly and easy-going all the time. This is where many coffee bars fail. People just want to be treated with respect and kindness. Thanks for your Service, SERIOUS COFFEE!

As I live in Alberta, I have to buy my "fix" when I visit. I love the stone ground chai and even when there isnt any pouches for me to grab off the shelf, they always fill up a pouch or 2 for me with my purchase. Not to mention the staff is always friendly and smiling

Nice atmosphere food is good, However 9 times out of 10 the food is Ice cold in the center even despite me asking for extra toasted every time I. Today they forgot my order entirely....not Impressed. MY advice to a manager who may read this Try your panini toast it eat and see how Fricken cold it is, there is no excuse for Ice cold food ALL THE TIME. If you are Making 2 paninies take the time to microwave them Separately so they can actually heat. In all honesty I like the place and food, but you guys are making it hard for me to want to continue to support your business.

Service is great, nice and friendly staff however the coffee its self is very bitter. It took my girlfriend and I seven packs of sugar to make the iced lattes drinkable

Serious coffee and slower sandwiches. Out of the three times I have been here, I have left with a good experience. Their menu has a good selection and I havent gotten anything of poor quality yet. Only complaint I have is their food from order to serve time is a little long. I ordered a pre-made sandwich in the by till container and ask for it warmed and that process took 5 minutes. Beyond the small delays this is a solid place in my eyes. Staff are also pretty friendly!

Great manager, great staff, great coffee. Also the syrup they carry is da bomb dot com and vegan friendly to boot (even the white chocolate, its kosher certified so it is dairy free). Watch out, Starbucks, Serious Coffee is coming for you. 😛

Place offers freshly brewed coffee and ... little something to go along with your java. Whenever I walked in the staff looked happy and welcoming. Coffee shop also offers some food for takeout and is good for people on a go or if you happy to have no time to enjoy you cup of coffee while staying inside. I definitely recommend this coffeeshop for anyone visiting Nanaimo or just looking for a cup of coffee in this neighborhood.

Stopped in for a Nanaimo bar while visiting the island. I believe they won best Nanaimo bar in 2016. They were great! So good! I would however recommend eating in the restaurant instead of the patio, as the people hanging around outside are interesting to say the least!

Always great drinks and meals, quick service, comfortable seating and convenient location. Great for meeting people and for sitting with a laptop. Easy parking downstairs under VICC. Nice connection to the Art Gallery and shop, with quieter seating in the spot between the gallery and the coffee shop.

Awesome coffee. I tried a Latte and my girlfriend got a Chai Tea Latte. She said it was one of the best shes ever had. Amazing cookies and Nanaimo bar as well. Highly recommend, especially on a rainy day like the day I visited.

Most of the time when I go there it is an amazing experience and I have wonderful service by the staff. Today however was not so great, I went there with a friend and got a latte and the girl who took my order didnt even bother to smile or even attempt to act nice. She kept on clashing all of the utensils around while she was making my latte and when she served it to me she practically slammed it down in front of me, some of the latte even spilled out and she just walked away really quickly. Ill still always come here, Ill just make sure I have a different server.
