Museum is nice, but staff gives you dirty used in ear headphone with the audio guide and pretend/insist that they are new :)

The place is full of Paradjanov. It os hard to accept and understand everything during one visit. You need to come here and have a look at each piece of art. Take the help of the guide, have a look by yourself.

Lovely and fascinating museum about Paradjanov and his creations.The tickets cost 1000 Dram per person. Additionally for 2000 Dram you are given an audio guide to help you explore the exhibits and dweller into the life of Sergei Paradjanov.Overall a very pleasant experience, especially as this is one of the few places that are open on Mondays

They practice discrimination by allowing ladies to have bags and prevent men from carrying bags.

By far the best place Ive been to in Yerevan.

Purchased tickets apparently only 40 minutes before closing time, while not being warned about it. So, at 5.30 pm the lights were manually shut down by the same man, who sold the tickets to our group of four people. I begged him to give me 5 more minutes, as I was taking the pictures of the hats and needed the lighting for this. Besides I was the only one in our group who came to Yerevan from the other side of the world. I told him all of this, yet the man was merciless. I believe people working in the museum of the great Parajanov could be more passionate about their work.

Dont waste your money on a ticket for this place trust me youll regret having ever come there! People who run it are horrible they think tourists come to steal and they dont allow you go around the place and freely enjoy it !

Fantastic museum which attracts the USSR historys dark corners and the fair fantasy of chains breaking crazy artist

The basis of the museum collection constitute 600 works of Parajanov - assemblages, flat and three-dimensional collages, drawings, dolls and film sketches, furniture, own things, which were transformed from Tbilisi to Yerevan during his lifetime. In the course of years of its existence the museum storage has been replenished and today the number of subjects is 1500 units. The museum also houses Parajanovs personal be longings and presents from his friends. An extensive correspondence of the film-director, including letters from L. Brik, A. Tarkovsky, J. Nikulin, V. Katanyan and other cultural figures is also kept in the museum’s archives. Two memorial rooms are also re-created. Parajanov’s works - assemblages, flat and three-dimensional collages, drawings, dolls and film sketches are his distinctive reaction to life and events around him, his aesthetic perception of the world. His drawings and collages created in prison are exhibited in separate hall. The Artist’s work has no direct analogies in the world art and amazes with its fantasy, wit and artistry. The use of various materials and objects imparts to it a special charm and brilliance. The Soviet system suspended Parajanov from shooting films for almost 15 years, 5 of which (1973-1977 and 1982were spent in prisons and “camps of severe regime.” In the course of 27 years of its existence the museum has organised 64 exhibitions more than 30 countries - Cannes, Athens, Tokyo, Moscow, Kiev, Boston, Rome, London, Tehran, Peking, Paris, Sofia, Brazil, Canada, Vilnius, and other cities. Parajanov Museum is one of the most popular museums in Yerevan. It is open seven days a week from 10.30 a.m. till 5.00 p.m.

Creative mind at last duly honored. The reasons of his imprisonment by the Soviet authorities are still tabu, but on a video on display indoors. Real Armenians - guides - have a hard time with reality of mankind. Alas. Beautiful place, full of the artists presence.

The museum contains wonderful treasures of the great artist, but the staff is unworthy of welcoming visitors. We were stalked from the beginning to the end of the visit by a lady who probably thinks tourists are there to steal, a really shameful situation!

It was a very curious and funny visit. Sergey Paradjanov is a not so well known artistic and film genius from the Soviet period. He took inspiration from Italian directors, such as Pasolini and Fellini, and created visionary films and pieces of art. The museum is definitely worth a visit.

Very interesting exhibition. It is really something special and very emotional once you know the story behind this man.

Good museum overall! Plenty of space to show Sergeis scope of creativity. Nice collages, art objects, posters, installations. My personal view is that notwithstanding obvious talent, Sergei has a dark or morbid streak, which is not a surprise, looking at his life events. But if you are taking small children, I would warn you that it may be a bit disturbing for unprepared and underdeveloped mind.. other than that, good. Also I had an impression that some artwork is more of a show off of a technique than an effort to convey some idea. Still good but feels like it was done just for quantity if you will. I have the same feeling with Tseretely sculptures, their sheer number suggests he just did not have time to put the meaning in.🤭

Highly recommend the guided tour - very informative learned so much about Paradjanovs life, his suffering and work across multiple media. True genius!!!

Great place to understand Paradjanov’s art

The place with the warmest welcome among many museums. Mr Ashot and Naré are a piece of Sun and one of the main reasons people love to visit this place.

A must see place and is open Monday. It seems that one of his friends was in charge of this museum. Apparently, this friend put his heart to it.

Great place to see unique artwork from Soviet times

Interesting and must visited place in Yerevan. Sergei Paradjanovi was mysterious and genius person who lived in Soviet Union. His art is a little bit mix of creepy and weird, but interesting and meaningfull.

Amazing place to know everything about this amazing man: Sergei Paradjanov. The museum abounds with his handicrafts, paintings, personal objects and some items about his movies.

Even if you dont know who is he (it happens), you should go there. It is a place full of positive energy and inspiration

Amazing man! To contemplate the struggle of a true artist under a suffocating government is hard to bear, but he could not resist and the results are impressive. So much to look at, allow a couple hours, and I reckon mend a tour to help decode the symbolism in his subversive subject matter. Lovers of outsider art / stuff made of found objects will rejoice. Views over the canyon from outside are pretty cool too, don’t forget to have a look around!

Worst experience, but just if you arent white.An Armenian friend strongly recommended to me this museum and I was exited to discover more about Sergei’s life. However, I not only felt like any staff wasn’t interested in explain or give to me any information about the place, an old lady whose work in the museu started to follow me in each part of the museum, and I know that because at the second floor was a another visitor ( white womanand she was alone looking the frames in the wall. The museum has few informations available in English and the smeel of old stuffs can annoy anyone eventhough you aren’t alergic. Spend you money in another thing, don’t go to this place!

The museum was founded in 1988 by the Peoples Assembly of Armenia. after the first exhibition of S. Parajanovs Homeland in the State Art Museum. Part of the collection was bought at 40 thousand rubles after the exhibition, and the other part was presented to Parajanovs museum.In the same year Sarkis Parajiantsants was given two adjacent structures for dwelling and museum in Dzoragyugh ethnographic district. Due to the 1988 earthquake, construction works in Armenia were suspended for a short time. That was the reason why the museum was opened only in 1991.The main collection of the museum consists of about 600 Parajanov works. drawings, sketches for movies, dolls, hats, many of which were exhibited at the Peoples Art Museum in Yerevan in 1988 and 1989, as well as the carpet and personal belongings of the Tiflis House, which moved to Yerevan under his will during his lifetime.During the years of its existence the museum fund has been replenished and today the number of subjects is 1500 units. Funds maintain directors correspondence addressed to Lili Brik, A. Tarkovski, Yu. Nikulin, V. Kathanian and other cultural figures. About 700 works are included in the museums exhibition. Two memorial rooms have been restored to some parts of Paradjanovs Tiflis house and the interior of the Kiev apartment.The authors unique reaction to life events, his plastic worldview is expressed through his creations - the assembly, smooth and spatial collages, drawings, and sketches of motion pictures.Sergei Parajanovs work has no analogues in world art. It is distinguished by its high skill, vivid imagination and ingenuity. His work gives a special charm and grace to the diversity of used objects and material.Most of them are in prison.Parajanov was expelled from the Soviet cinema for 15 years, from 1973 to 1977 and 1982 in strict regime camps and prisons.Over the past 27 years, the museum has organized 64 exhibitions in more than 30 countries, including Cannes, Thessaloniki, Moscow, Kiev, Rome, London, Los Angeles, Tehran, Beijing, Paris, Brazil, Canada, Vilnius, and elsewhere.

One of the coolest sights in Yerevan...a must see if you are into art and cinema...DO NOT MISS IT!...

Great museum of well known artist and talented movie producer: Sergey Paradjanov. Was not accepted during Soviet time. I was very impressed by his surreal pictures.

Really interesting and quite complete museum about Paradjanovs life and work. Somehow sad to realize that his genius has been universally aknowledged only after his death.Particularly ennoying all the photos of different heads of state and president who visited the museum. I think Sergo himself wouldnt appreciate that very much....
