111 St Georges Terrace, Perth WA 6000, Australia, Perth
An industrial-chic space with an NYC-inspired interior and hanging lights, for Modern European food.
Good little restaurant in the middle Perth. Food is cooked well and the service is very good, a rarity in the city. Good wine selection as well. Some of the extras like bread and sauces are a litle epensive, hence the loss of the 5th star.
I liked the venue but they served crab pasta in a Bolognese sauce - the flavours are too delicate for a Bolognese.Other dishes looked good but not sure what else to say.
Order a well done steak and was delivered rare, fly in the butter, seemed to be our fault that it was not highlighted to staff when paying.
Lovely staff but the set menu food was absolutely wonderful. Would dine there again
Risotto was very expensive and quite undercooked - the rice shouldn’t be hard, risotto is meant to be creamy. Aperol spritz was good though!
Ordered salad that arrived after half an hour, by that time all my colleagues were half way through lunch. The salad wasnt eatable in the bowl as it wasnt cut properly and had big outer chunks of lettuce. Asked the waiter to take away the salad. Ended up paying for nothing 😀
No doubt it was great food, but when the bill came we were charged an extra $24 for an entree which should have been included in our fixed fee. I really hate that, it shouldn’t be up to me to identify the rip-off in my bill. The waitress kind of giggled because she had been busted, then asked if I wanted to leave a tip! I dont think so! Sadly it finished a nice dinner with a really bad taste. CHECK YOUR BILLS EVERYONE!
Chic space, good food not the best Service though.
I heard a lot about this place, then I had to give it a try! Waiters have been ignoring us when we popped in and have to wait for 10mins…Food is average , I had a wild mushroom risotto truffle… really soggy! It has reminded me the school’s canteen back in my days. Very pricey …
The service was very friendly and attentive, and menu is interesting. However, the octopus I had as an entree was extremely rubbery. The pancetta which accompanied my partners scallops was extremely tough. The mains were good. The serving sizes were good. The system of pricing on the menu is obscure and unreasonable; one cant be sure what the final bill will be! Overall, we thought prices were high; not value for money. This review is offered to encourage improvement - unrealised potential we thought
Great moody and intimate atmosphere, great food, great service, all round a good time. The quality of cooking was consistent across all the meals however the quality of flavour was inconsistent. The entree was hot and miss, both mains were gorgeous, and dessert was hit and miss. Overall a great meal 👌
I finally tried this place after years of walking past it and it was amazing. The staff memeber Ash was super helpful and explained everything in detail but also easily understandable. The Grilled Chorizo and the Gnocci main were amazing. Ashs red wine recommendation was spot on to match these. I also had a Margarita that was really well balanced. For anyone with a sweet tooth that doesnt want super sweet like myself try the Rich Belgian Chocolate Fondant.Definitely going to come back.
Went for lunchHad the caesar salad and chipsChicken was dry cold wet but it was tastlessBacon was so saltyOnly ate my meal because had to pay for itWaiter was toldBut didnt seem to care.Last time I would ever go there
Lovely venue for a Monday night dinner. Food was really good and some great local ingredients showcased.
Awesome food, perfect venue. It was busy but not loud. Staff were attentive and prompt. Already planning next visit!!
Came here for a work function and (since I was the organiserwas very happy indeed. I loved the fact that I could book for 10 people and still do al le carte (this is rare now days). The tasting plates for entree were really good (a lovely selection of seafood, choritzo and aranchini). My cocktail was a bit average, but might have been what I chose. The amostphere was also on point! All in all a great meal and I can see why it is so high up on the "Good Food Guide". Would certaily come back.
The food and atmosphere was great. The steak was good and the risotto amazing! What was disappointing though was finding out the bottle of French wine we purchased was marked up by approx 300%!! Which seems excessive, especially for a wine we could get from the shops (apparentlyfor just $17!! Have not experienced that from other CBD restaurants before, and puts me off returning when there are other fantastic restaurants just nearby!
Have been twice this week and both times the service has been excellent- especially Saturday night. The cocktails are delicious and there is a good choice of wines etc also. The food is delicious- we recommended dishes to our friends and they did not disappoint. Will definitely be coming back again.
I was 8 minutes late for my booking, gave my table away after trying to clam that someone “used my name” no call to see if I was still coming had other tables with no one sitting at and refused to give them to us even when we had a booking. Very poor service and rude staff. Do not recommend at all!
Great service.Food was quality.I go here often and will return again. The breakfast omelette is very good - it is always well cooked and tasty.Sentinel coffee is also very good and made well. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Also are happy to answer all questions about the drinks on the menu.
A real life saver. The incompetence of some of the local competition at Elizabeth Quay and Howard St. on a Saturday Night only benefits this fine bar and restaurant. Has to find the right balance of the bar/drinks only vs restaurant ratio, but finds a way, keep doing you Sentinel and youll be fine 🙂
Had a meal here last night, and to say it was amazing is an understatement.Absolute wow food. The steak was perfect in every way and the Burrata cheese starter was one of the most unbelievable tasting food Ive ever had.Great work, great place.
Won’t be heading back to the Sentinel anytime soon we had the $64 set menu x 2 on a Saturday night and we feel that the meal would not have been adequate if we didn’t add all the extras that they charge you for. $12 for green vegetables that consisted of two Brussel sprouts halved and 4 broccoli stalks. $12 for duck fat potatoes that were not crispy ( who wants soggy duck fat potatoesand $6 for the sauce that we actually thought was free, as the menu makes it look like, it is only the mushroom sauce that is charged extra for. The paris mash had only a slight bit of warmth to it but both our steaks were very good but you pay extra for them $23. Our entrees were OK but nothing to write home about, I could do a better buratta salad at home. The service was very good from all of our waitstaff. This review is not really to bag out the food, other than the cold paris mash and soggy duck fat potatoes, it is more to say we paid $181 all up for our dinner and I don’t think it is good value for money or even reasonable for what we were served up.
Pleasant elegant vibe, has a nice looking bar, organised and very polite. You have the option if 3 or 2 course meals. We had the eye fillet and the rib eye which was huge. Octopus as entre was ok. The rib eye steak was rally good and better than the eye fillet in my opinion. We tried the truffles mushroom as side which was not anything special. Overall a very good experience. For desert I had the panna cotta which was ok. We paid 210 dollars for two 2 course meals , and one drink each.
Welcoming atmosphere and service. I had the Angel Hair Pasta which was delicious, for dessert the Belgian choc fondant did not disappoint.
Very good night last Saturday. Food, drinks and service from a lovely French lady was excellent. Had a slight hiccup at start but a couple of visits from a manager/supervisor to check all was OK was appreciated. PS the Domaine Chablis is the absolute bomb :)
Very nice. Good food, but presentation was a bit strange. My steak was well done on one side, but medium rare on the other half.
The food, wine and service was excellent. We were a group of 12 and all our meals came at once. Steaks were fabulous. Five stars except for the cramped tables, lack is space and continually getting bumped by people waking past, including the staff.
Went on a buzzing Thursday night in Perth, great setting, front bar and back dining room, very good atmosphere. Very nice fast and friendly service (especially considering how busy it was ). Very good wines , if you want more than there small drinks menu, ask for the Museum wine list. Started with the Chorizo band goatscurd and honey, absolutely delicious. Then The Chateaubriand with eye fillet, for 2. Again absolutely delicious. If your looking for a smaller semi fine dining, weather for 2 or a larger table (maybe max 8I would highly recommend Sentinel.
Sentinel always had good food. Love the selection and while they are called Bar and Grill, the seafood is excusite too! I particularly love the blue swimmer crab pasta. The only issue is it is difficult to have a business discussion there, something needs to be done about the acoustics.
A good place to have a meal for a reasonable price. The staff is very friendly and helpfull.Always recommend this place to others.I went here for a lunch meeting with my office mates. This place is usually packed with people like that.Better to have a booking as the place might be crowded.
Went for our anniversaryAmazing food, lovely atmosphere great service. Highly recommend .The Beef carpaccio was incredible.Lovely tender octopusBeautiful steak charred and then amazingly cooked to the perfect medium rareThe mushroom risotto was gorgeous so flavourful. Will be back for sure.
Food is good but the dessert was pretty average despite the presentation. Service was a bit slow. Been here a couple of times, probably the steak is the best out of the rest in the menu. The popcorn martini was pretty sweet , could taste the syrup. Might come again.
The restaurant is good however expected a little more given the pricing. A little disappointed when the wine we ordered wasnt available, the replacement (charged $55 was a $9.95 bottle. I understand the need for restaurants to mark up alcohol to cater for licensing costs but $55 for. Sub $10 is not responsible especially the bottle it was replacing was a far superior wine.
This time around, the salmon nicoise salad was delicious and I would happily order it again. Would have liked a sweeter LLB but overall, its always a great place to visit for a work lunch.
The BEST Steak in Perth! Perfectly cooked every time! Eye fillet melts in your mouth, and tastes delicious with out sauce! But I love the mushroom sauce! The Scallops entree is superb! Make sure you put all the flavours in your mouth at once for the taste sensation! The Belgian Chocolate Fondant....well its just divine! And the Service is fantastic. They are always busy but will always ensure you are looked after!
We came on a Friday evening and the options are 2 courses as a minimum. I had the octopus for starter that unfortunately was burnt rather than charred. The main of gnocchi and duck ragout was very tasty. The wife had the angel hair pasta that was advertised as crab and prawn. She could find no sign of any crab and from the looks of it, the prawn was solitary and cut up to spread amongst the dish.Whilst tasty food, for the price I expected better.
Absolutely amazing start to finish. Not only was the food some of the most delicious I have had in quite awhile the service was outstanding.
Delightful 3 course dinner - beautifully presented dishes, amazing texture, taste. Great atmosphere and service. Highly recommend
Absolute pinnacle of my dining experiences in Perth. Marie, our waitress, was fabulous. The food was incredible. This is a slick organised operation. The vibe and decor is modern, luxe yet not pretentious. Would recommend in a heartbeat.
My first dinner after the quarantine. It was a smart choice! Loved the food and the atmosphere. I would give 5 stars for food quality.I was asked to move to another table as the rush hour is coming. I did and wanted to order another drink and dessert, but the African waitress never came back, a bit disappointed. It is not a cheap place, maybe the service could be better.
Exceptionally amazing food, good food as well. This was definitely a wow factor meal. Nice polite waiters, will definitely be going back here too.
Such an amazing dinner! Awesome staff as well who made sure we were happy for the night, the food was absolutely brilliant, from entrees all the way to desert. We were not disappointed! The steak was perfection, cooked amazingly with awesome sides and beautiful tasting sauces to come along with it. Definitely recommend for anyone who is looking for a good dinner for a special occasion!
Had the rib eye (450gmwith leaf greens and chips, and also had a side of brocolini. The steak alone was fantastic; cooked perfectly to my liking medium rare, was a nice thick cut, the cafe de Paris sauce was a great compliment. The sides on the other hand wasn’t as complimentary and that’s what stopped me from giving 5 stars. The brocolini was disappointing considering the price ($13). Barely tasted any almonds which was stated on menu. The chips were ok, the leaf greens had a bit of balsamic vinegar and red onions. Would have been nice if they refilled my glass with water.
This is quite a nice bar and the food and drinks are pretty good. I found the service average. Prices are ok for the city. I really enjoyed the octopus and prawn share plates.
Great quality food, steak tartare was great. They have chateaubriand and it was lovely. Dessert was great too! We went on a busy night and staff was stretch but our wait staff did his best! Place a little small thus noisy, if you after a more relax place, this would not be it. Food is good though.
A nice high-end restaurant with a hidden terrace and modern design in the very heart of the Perth CBD. It’s a great place for meat-lovers. However, steaks are a bit small, so consider ordering an extra salad. Main food choices for vegans are limited to a GF risotto. The service is on a top level.
Food: Its okay. Not fantastic but good enough.Price: Expensive. About AUD 40 per person (as of Nov 2018)Service: The staff are very very friendly, definitely giving them the credit. But I think its abit understaffed so it does take some time to call for the waiters or waitresses.
Location: Perry City, easy to find. Walking distant from most hotel within the area.Ambience: ChillaxFood Quality: perfect! The risotto, beef, angel hair pasta and sweet honey chicken! Yum yum!Service: excellentMoney: $$$Remarks: it opens till midnight, perfect for Asian travelling during winter period. It is a must visit for all
Modern, upmarket restaurant in the centre of the city, seems to be used mostly by business people operating in the CBD. Also a good option for tourists, especially in the evening when there are fewer options available. Pricey, but comfortable, good service and excellent food.
