Semilla Kitchen & Bar in San Juan

First time in San Juan and we had to come back 3 times!!! The cocktails are creative, beautiful, and most importantly delicious! We ate dinner and brunch there and every thing we had was super yummy. Notable items: Pork Tenderloin with risotto, the turnovers, Semilla Benedicts, and Versos de Cervantes. The staff are super friendly and professional. I’ll definitely miss Semilla when we leave. 10/5

ABSOLUTELY MY FAVORITE RESTAURANT I EXPERIENCED MY ENTIRE TRIP TO PUERTO RICO! SUPER FUN AND RELAXED VIBES, ATTENTIVE, YOUNG, CARING, STAFF! WE TRIED A LITTLE OF EVERYTHING, THE STEAK WAS SO GOOD! THE "FILET MIGNON BREAKFAST BOWL" ILL HAVE TO CALL IT THAT I CANT RECALL THE NAME, IT WAS SO GOOD! THE FRENCH TOAST WAS PERFECT! AND THE COFFEE WAS TOP NOTCH! I CANT WAIT TO COME SEE THE STAFF AND DINE AGAIN SOON! THANK YOU ALL FOR THE GREAT EXPERIENCE ❤️

Absolutely amazing! The service was outstanding and the food was delicious! Flavor and made to order. I went back everyday while visiting! This is now my favorite place to eat in PR! Thank you!

Id love to rate this place a 4.5 but we ordered the French toast and a fruit salad and proceeded to wait for an hour which was ridiculous. The French toast was good but not an hour wait good. Unfortunately no one was really apologetic or was willing to compensate for our wasted time. Thats why this place gets a 2 star.

So this place was sooo good! My friend and I visited for brunch. She got the chicken and waffles I got the (I can’t pull up the menu currentlybut it was the Spanish eggs with, potatoes and herbs,Filet mignon, spicy chorizo, etc IT WAS SOO GOOD! I also got the Semillosa which is was refreshing and even though it had ice in it, they gave you a decent amount of beverage. I live in Atlanta, Georgia but I’d DEFINITELY come back.

We had the steak & eggs, French toast sticks, and Versos de cervantes. Everything was so amazing! The best brunch we have had in PR! Service was great as well!

This restaurant is definitely on my top 5 in Pr! The food was great and the customer service was even better. Decided to grab a quick brunch before my flight and I’m glad I came here everything was made fresh and promptly. I ordered the chicken and waffles and home fries with a mimosa to drink and I was overly satisfied 10/10!!

A very cool and unique ambience along the street slightly away from the main road. The staff is very friendly and suggested some local favorites. We ended up trying chicken dumplings, chicken with mushroom cream and home made dessert of the day - almond Flan. Boy oh boy all the food from appetizers to desserts were on point. All of them blew our minds and the star of the show was the almond Flan. As noted by other reviewers the service is a little on the slower side given it wasnt too crowded when we went but not bad to bad either. The food was definitely worth the wait and would suggest to give this one a try.

Came here for brunch. The bartender June is amazing! Very meticulous about his cocktails and their yummy. The food was also good. Gave 4 stars because of our waiter who was a little slow on the service side but i guess all worth the wait. We all enjoyed our meals. The crispy breakfast potatoes, the french toast and I had the ultimate chicken and waffle. Plus you can silently karoke. Chill vibes. All good

Worst dining experience I’ve ever had. I ordered a mimosa, had to remind them after 20 minutes for it. They couldn’t make the chicken and waffles and told me after 15 minutes. Waited over an hour for food and the party of 6 next to us was served before us, even though they arrived 15 minutes after us. Service was non existent. 4 people walking around us and we were completely ignored. They ended up comping us the whole thing without us complaining because they know their service was terrible. Don’t come here unless you want to ruin your day. Food was mediocre and cold.

Took a hour and a half for the food to come. Eat here if you like dogs running around while you are eating. Power went off twice while I was here. I got the French toast and it was soggy not crisp at all. Service is slow. Tables small and it’s extremely hot in here.

No Bottom Brunch here! Legit the best steak and eggs I’ve ever had. Tender, well-seasoned, crispy-caramely sear. Banging Bloody Mary and Lucius iced coffee. Cool hangover friendly atmosphere with a friendly bartender & Harry Potter playing on the TV. I’ll be back for sure.

Came here for brunch today. What amazing food! I had the tuna tar tar and a bloody Mary. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere is hip and fun and the prices are very reasonable. The staff are friendly and prompt. Nothing bad to say, will be coming back while were on vacation here to enjoy more.

First time here and a great experience. Business dinner with 2 colleagues. Enjoyed appetizers including nachos tacos and avocado salad. Reasonable wine selection. Great service and really great value.

Honestly, everything that we tried was absolutely amazing. The food is great, the drinks that June made were balanced and refreshing, the service was equally great. Definitely will be back! 💛🧡❤

We left because we were looking for more classic breakfast dishes. The waitress was rude. Probably we would have stayed if the waitress had been more attentive. The hostess was very attentive. Because of her we think we can go back so we can give a try to the creative flare of their dishes. Nice ambience and quiet. Valet parking available for $7.

Made a reservation thinking this place was going to be packed for dinner with all of the 5 star reviews. I was confused on the theme of the food. Unfortunately there werent any vegetarian options on the main dishes menu except for veggie lomein, salad or pizza. The lomein wasnt the best. Too much sauce. However, the lentil alcapurrias were very good. Something different I have not tried and would definitely have again. Mocktail was not bad. It was basically a virgin sangria. The staff was very attentive and nice. *limited vegetarian options*

A bit tucked away from Ashford Ave, this is a nice place to brunch. A nice selection of breakfast dishes and great coffee. I loved the Lobster Eggs Benedict. Small plates for kids are also available with french toast and yogurt with fruits.

We came for taco Tuesday and it was awesome! Reasonable tacos and great Margaritas for $3! Try the Jalapeño and you won’t regret it!

This place is great!! Definitely worth 5 stars, the food came in great portions! The flavor was amazing! The service - I couldn’t ask for better!! The menu is not large but I appreciate that because it really lets them specialize on what they have. The steak and eggs - let me say, the steak was seasoned so great I was able to overlook the cook on the steak. The view has construction right now up front, but the restaurant has nice music at a great level to not even notice it. I can’t say more about this place but you need to at least try this place once during your visit. I will come back to try the dinner menu as well. Make sure to ask for Henry or Tatiana they made the experience great!

The food was great, but we had to wait 50 minutes between the appetizer and entrees. Then we were charged more than the prices shown on the menu. The staff explained that the bill is correct and the menu just hasnt been updated yet, so I owe the higher price. I objected and received a small discount but I was warned that next time I wont receive the discount, regardless of the menu. This is unethical and probably illegal so I dont expect to return.

We stopped by for some drinks. The artistry of the bartender was next level. So much care went into preparing everything, and all the signature cocktails we tried were absolutely delicious!

Delicious breakfast. Variety of dishes to please many tastes. Coffee was good and although the added 2 flavors they both still tasted like regular Lattes. Sadly, coffee came up as "alcoholic drinks" in the receipt and was taxed at 11.5% instead of 7%. Food took a while but not too bad considering the place was at capacity. The waitress wrote down the order but one of the dishes came out with the wrong type of topping on the French toast. They immediately changed it. My vainilla pancakes were a bit dry without enough vainilla cream. The seating accommodations were pretty good and they validated a nearby valet parking garages ticket for a $2 discount.

Make sure you have your vaccine card prior to entering. It was a 10 minute wait to be seated. Drinks came quick and were delicious. Food was ready within 15 min of sitting. Chicken and waffles is perfect. The staff was friendly and very attentive

This place was amazing, loved the vibe and the ambiance! We went for brunch while visiting PR and the service was A++! Everyone was so friendly even the people who werent waiting on us. The steak and eggs were well seasoned and huge portions too. We got the mimosas kit which included a bottle of champagne and your choice of juice. That cappuccino was soooo good! Semilla seems to be popular among the locals and the tourists. I would recommend making a reservation because its a bit of a wait otherwise but it wasnt too bad though. Highly recommend this place if youre in the San Juan area.

This was one of the best meals that I had on my trip to PR. We made a reservation for 6pm and the restaurant was empty but by 8pm it was definitely filled up. A house red wine was $8 and I ordered the Bifonfongo de Yuca y Amarillo (filled with pickled octopus). This was the most unique dish that I had and super flavorful and filling. The table had gotten a medley of lo mein, salmon, and chicken. The service was attentive and the cocktails were tasty! The kitchen asked us if they could bring out the dishes separately and we obliged. The timing for the dishes weren’t too far apart. Definitely recommend!

Didnt pay attention that they close at 3pm. Arrived at 2:50pm & they were still gracious enough to still seat & serve us. The food was very fresh, tasty & hot. Thanks for being a Welcome to hungry tourist in the rain.

Everything was delicious. The guava cream cheese French toast are amazing!!The waitress forgot about us, so our order wasn’t taken for a while but she made up for it by giving us mimosas.

First time in Puerto Rico came here our first day for brunch super good and coffee as well! It’s small but super cute! I love their Ropa Vieja Turnover a must try!! We came for brunch our last day here because it’s that good! Their French toast and vanilla pancakes are really good! Henry was our waiter both times and super nice and great service! Definitely a must try when in Puerto Rico!

I have a lot to say about my experience. I intentionally waited a day to post this to see if my opinion changed.I am going to preface my review by saying that I will give this place another chance when I return to San Juan because the atmosphere, ambiance, food and drinks were fantastic. I genuinely want to try their other brunch items. I hear their dinner items are awesome as well.We had a horrible wait experience. Which was apologized for. However, it taints the experience when you wait for 2 hours after being told 45 minutes and see multiple groups that arrive after you being seated and fed.The hostess came out after over an hour of our wait and told us that it would be another 20 minutes. After that time had passed, I went in to see if there were any alternative seating options..after telling her we had been waiting for over an hour and a half I was then told it would be another hour for a 3 top. This is obviously when my fuss started (and does not begin to include the opinions of the irritated members of my party that were on the patio). After sitting inside for less than 10 minutes we were seated. I will add that this room had other available tables.I respect the restaurant industry and those that put effort into it. I am not sure of the staffing on this day. I just know that there was no organization or communication at the door and this should be looked at.I want to highlight Ricky for going above and beyond once we got in the door and in a seat...Im pretty sure he is the one that made it happen. He really made our experience special. He alone would have made this a 5 star review: Over the top attentive, friendly, and timely - but a potentially inexperienced hostess dropped my rating.Again, the food was delicious..the service was impeccable once we were inside but the lack of communication was in bad taste.Pictured is the Benedict, 2Die4 and The Constitution. Best food we had while visiting Puerto Rico hands down! Flavored to perfection. We got there while they were still serving brunch, it was delicious. Skirt Steak and eggs with breakfast potatoes and my partner enjoyed a meat filled Omelet with breakfast potatoes. Topped off with two pineapple mimosas and an appetizer to die for...When we go back theyll be the 1st place we eat at again.

This place was our first breakfast spot we went to while in Puerto Rico. Staff were so friendly and omg the food was all delicious especially the coffee. Definitely a must visit while in the area.

Great atmosphere, amazing food, good service. One of the best meals we had and it was only a 1 minute walk from the place we were staying ! (This is such a first world problem and I didn’t mind but they do serve you on paper plates just as an FYI)

Amazing island flavors, highly recommend for brunch. We ordered the guava french toast and the semilla Benedict. Service was a little slow but attentive to detail. We felt like taken care of :)

Small restaurant with food that is super delish. Be prepared to wait for a table unless you can get a reservation but Soooo worth the wait. Definitely recommend.

Omg, this place is so good, we came twice! My wife has their beef stroganoff... Which isnt really need stroganoff because its made with filet mignon and ziti noodles with a decadent sauce. I had their ribeye over a risotto. Freaking fabulous! If you like spicy, ask for a cup of their hot sauce. I think its a scotch bonnet and guava mix. Super good.

Not sure if this was an off-day here. Based on Google photo pics, I went there for a particular dish, Lobster Benedict, however bummer, it was no longer on the menu. I ended up ordering something I really didnt want. (Pulled Pork Benedict). The dish was decent but too sweet for my taste, in addition to the salad dressing tasting sweet as well. Not enough potatoes or salad to accommodate how much pork was served under the eggs. My server disappeared for the duration of my meal, after I was served. I sat there wanting to add to my meal and was unable to do so until the very end (by 2 other servers), after it was too late. Pricing could be better, I added a small salad, it was a bed of spinach, and was charged four bucks, plus 3 to add avocado. Probably wouldnt have minded if I was more impressed with the meal. For me, the service was not the best for my first time. Overall, just ok.

Loved breakfast here. The hours may need to be updated, it opened at 9 AM today Sunday. I had the guava french toast and my boyfriend had the semilla Benedict. Both had beautiful presentation, filling portions and good value for the high quality!

Great place for a brunch or dinner experience. The food and drinks were delicious. Would go back and they have Valet!

I didn’t like it at all in spite of good reviews. Music was blasting on a Saturday morning like we were at the club. It got very crowded despite COVID. Food (brunchtook forever and was mediocre...(see photos)....prices were fair, location was good, service was good and attentive, that’s why it’s not a 1 star review.My omelet had only cheese so I didn’t expect super taste but cheese inside was not even melted and it was that American “cheese” cheapest thing in the store grated in bags that is not a real cheese....could they get some real cheese from Costco or Sam’s at least?French toast sticks was made of regular sliced bread from bags also soaked in butter and whatever else. This is definitely not a gourmet spot and far from best brunch in San Juan.I didn’t feel like returning my food and ate some of it but I definitely will not be back.

Semilla’s Kitchen & Bar was a hidden gem, located down a road that didn’t look very traveled on. The vibe inside the restaurant was nothing like what we were expecting from our walk there...it was absolutely wonderful. Not only was the food incredible but the staff were all so sweet. If you’re looking for authentic food during your time in Puerto Rico, we highly suggest going here!

UPDATE:We just had to come back for more before we left! Once again....we returned to have breakfast and, of course, the food here is absolutely AMAZING! YOU HAVE TO EAT HERE!! The ambiance, even in the early morning, is excellent and really gives such a cozy vibe. It’s way bigger inside then I would have imagined and well designed!!The food.....OH MY GOODNESS!!!! DELICIOUS!! ⭐️ We had the “To Die For French Toast”, “Salmon Benedict” and the “Peanut Butter and Jelly Pancakes” along with the 4 Latte coffee with almond milk!!!! Outstanding! Excellent customer service! Not only will we be back for breakfast, we curious to see what they provide for lunch or dinner. GREAT WAY TO START YOUR MORNING!

Spectacular food and hand crafted cocktails! Relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. The chicharron de mero con yucafongo is literally the most delicious dish Ive ever had in my life. The salmon and the steak dinners were also superb. All the staff were fantastic and went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying everything. Dine here if youre in town!

I visited with a friend for Sunday brunch. The place was packed, but our party of 2 was seated promptly. The menu has some great items, very original and tasty. Unfortunately, after a 45 min wait we got our food, but my plate was not as I ordered. Apparently the kitchen was having a rough time and most of my plate was overcooked. Luckily, the house responded promptly and took very good care of us. The lobster cake was delicious, and my friend agreed on his vegetarian omelet.I would definitely recommend this place. Though I would advise to be very patient on a busy day like Sunday. Parking is a bit of a hassle, but you can take advantage of all day parking for $6 on a nearby Ashford Street garage by visiting Semilla, thats 25% off the regular daily fee.

So good we came on back to back days for brunch during our vacation. Great service and a great variety of food that is standard fare with a PR touch to make it truly unique. First day, I had the Semilla which was basically a pork eggs Benedict and full of flavor. Wife had the Lobster Benedict which was delicious. Second day we had the fruit nachos, salmon benedict, two mimosas for $7 (guanabana and passion fruit!). There was a breakfast churrasco that I really regret not getting. Off the tourist path so a nice local vibe to it.
