Sea Palace Chinese Restaurant - Chinese restaurant in Penzance, United Kingdom
Quite a nice Chinese, but a bit hit & miss.Duck was nice, so was a few of the other bits. But prawn balls & a few other bits were lacking in taste. I have given the place a generous 4 star only cos couldnt give a 3.5.
Tasty food. Good options for vegetarians.
Food was below average. All of the noodle dishes were very slimy. Iβd probably give this restaurant a 2/3 star normally but I want to offset so many 5 stars as I have no clue how literally anyone could give it a 5 star.
We ordered scallops, aubergine with mince, seafood pot and fried squids. It is delicious and the texture of scallops is very fresh and juicy. We all thought this is an authentical Chinese restaurant. Ive been in England for 4 years and gone to a lot of cities but this restaurant is the only one I felt my hometowns flavour.I dont disagree with the comments which said this is not authentic just because the texture of mapo tofu is not soft.
Great food and service. Garlic and chilli King prawns are a must have!
Ordered from here recently whilst Holidaying near by, food was absolutely delicious and well priced! We will definitely order again when we return!
Not authentic Chinese food! I was shocked by the way they cook Mapo Tofu, the tofu is not soft, the sauce is not usually used for this dish and wired. The chicken is also not good. Only Pho is not bad.
The food was lovely, the staff were great and helpful and when you walk In the restaurant looks lovely, the reason my rating isnt higher is because we were seated down in the basement, it was hot and humid and smelt of damp/musty which wasnt very nice and a little off putting.
Had fresh scallops, mussels, mixed starters & prawn balls. All delicious & with lots of ginger/chilli/garlic. Parking is a hassle unfortunately very tiny road so will need to look around. Would eat there again & would recommend. Delicious, thanks to Helen for fitting us in.
The food is really delicious, especially the seafood. The waiter is very kind and nice.
My first visit to this lovely restaurant & I was indeed impressed! Best Chinese meal Ive had for a very long time. Chose one of the set menus which was totally delicious. The staff were all great. Will definitely visit again π
Not recommended. Donβt come here if you are a couple or just two person eating at the restaurant, they will not serve you and will rejected you straight away. They will prioritise group to of course gain money as much as possible.
This is a lovely restaurant super hosting lady who greeted us made us feel very welcome along with all the other great staff. Food was cooked perfectly and full of flavours.
The BEST restaurant in Penzance open after 8.30pm. Food was lightning quick out the kitchen and hot. Great taste and they changed some dishes to make them less spicy for us. Friendly staff as well.
Really good food and a very reasonable price. Best chinese Ive had in ages. Fresh ingredients and tasty!
All dishes I tried were great. Fast and friendly takeaway service.
Well decorated underground dining room with good chinese food.
Fantastic, friendly and professional service. Food was superb quality and wine was excellent. This is a gem of a restaurant.
A great place on the seafront of Penzance, opposite the entrance to the Scillonian ferry to the Scilly Isles. We went there for a takeaway, parking was a little difficult, but we were only there briefly. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We ordered our food, waited very briefly and our food was ready!Got it home, still hot and very tasty.Highly recommended, possibly the best Chinese restaurant in Penzance, it also has restaurant seating which we hope to try next time.No pictures this time, food disappeared too quickly! π
Really liked the layout. Very intimate. Excellent food.
Friendly staff, good size portions and good tasting food
Surprisingly good. What youd expect for British Chinese food, but done quite well
Came here on the strength on the reviews, which I remain totally confused by.Restaurant itself is tired and very dated. Whilst the decor is quaint, its in desperate need of renovation and it all just felt a bit "unclean" for me.Food was so so. Classic English version of Chinese food that is basically beige stodge with not much vegetables.Maybe we caught it on an off day? Staff were pleasant.
We regularly have takeaways and also to dine in when we can. Always wonderful food and service. Always book ahead as they can get very busy. Super friendly , helpful staff. The Sea Palace is set in a old fish warehouse , right by Penzace harbour, very atmospheric.
Scallops with ginger Scallions and Monkfish mixed vegetables, Seafood Ho fun noodles was tasty and very reasonably priced . Polite and friendly service - will come again.
Food was out of this world. Serves excellent and very reasonable price as well.
Nice atmosphere, lovely staff and great tasting food. Portions were great as we got a 2 person set meal and had to take half of it home!
Delicious King Prawn in tomatoes, my fav chinese
We not fussy but not great food English staff polite and courteous, mix up with order but all fine , certainly not the best Chinese I have tasted , building outside looks like a warehouse and inside a dated interior which had artex walls ,I remember my mother had that done in the 80`s so looks very dated inside oh and no windows bit like a dated dungeon with food to match , sorry " Sea Palace" but its fine we only passing trade so doesnt matter as we wont be back ever
This is the only dine in Chinese place we could find. Being Chinese Im fussy when it comes to Chinese restaurants, but I can gladly say I loved everything we ordered, scallops were fresh, and flavours of all dishes were authentic. Staff were polite and friendly. Come here if you are Chinese. Also come here if you are not Chinese!
Great tasting Chinese with decent portions, the scallops were tasty, as suggested by other reviewers!
Had a meal here tonight for my birthday π. I have to say this is the best Chinese food I have ever had. It was absolutely delicious and the staff were 1st class -thank you βΊοΈ
Good quality Chinese takeaway in the heart of Penzance. Food tasted freshly prepared and portions were fair. We ordered by phone and it was ready to collect when we arrived; they dont offer delivery at the moment. Restaurant was bustling and busy. Only negative was that it was a bit pricy and you cant order online.
Great takeaway, great portions and tastes great. We had beef with oyster sauce. Chicken fried rice. Chicken chow mein. Salt pepper chips.
Im incredibly picky with Chinese due to limitations as a vegetarian but the food here is absolutely amazing! The staff are very efficient and they are incredibly kind.Normally in a Chinese restaurant you get 6 spring rolls in a very small size however here you get three spring rolls but massive size. Springrolls tastes really good, crispy and crunchy. The vegetable soup was really nice too however lacked a little in spice and flavours. The vegetable noodles was yummy but again lacked in spice. We ordered the spicy version but wasnt spicy enough.Parking can be a slight issue though. Theres parking outside however normally its full and no space to park.Overall the food was yummy just lacking in some spice thats all.I would definitely recommend though.
Food was great service very hit and miss. Premises were set down a side street and when you entered it had been themed to look like a Chinese street quite cool. Food was very tasty but we have a local Chinese restaurant by us here in Liverpool which makes the experience more customer friendly and cheaper. When the initial prawn crackers came out we got one little bowl for 5 which was my error as I didnt realise so I ordered more at which point a waitress who was sorting another table shot over to tell me the price of an extra portion - jeez thanks for that I was expecting to get meal for free! Just made it feel unnecessary uncomfortable. Then they forgot to bring them. For 5 with banquet for 2 and a few soups extra and 2 rounds of 2 bottles beer Nd 3 soft drinks Β£101 which they got that wrong so check your bill. Overall the rest of the staff were OK big shout out to the older English lady who was lovely and the young lad too.
Since Iβm Chinese I was given option to have the Chinese menu. Great dishes. Went back for 2nd night. Prices very reasonable as well as dish sizes. My to go place if I ever visit Penzance in future.
We come here alot as locals, we think it is the best Chinese restaurant in Penzance, we cant believe it is not stacked out everyday. Great tardis of a place with a lovely atmosphere and very polite and pleasant staff. Would highly recommend.
Best Chinese in penzance - the food is simply beautiful.Highly recommend the set meal for 2, so much choice and so much food. The owners are wonderful, welcoming, friendly, the staff are friendly but the food is wonderful!Must book in advance as often fully booked - take away option is great.
One of the only Chinese restaurants with seating in Penzance. Food was ok but missing that authentic Chinese flavours. However fresh seafood, scallops were huge.Lobster needs to be notified 24hours in advance.Staff were dressed traditional Chinese clothing and were very attentive and friendly.
Must admit I was rather disappointed with my meal. I ordered the following;Large Bang Bang ChickenSeemed to be fridge cold chicken with a spicy mayo which isnt what the dish should be like.Chicken with pineappleMy wife had this and remarked that the chicken was dry and not her cup of tea, with that in mind this dish she has eaten a lot from other places.Roast Duck & Chicken Fried RiceDuck was okay but the chicken was dry and the rice was just a mess.Char Siu Pork with Ginger & Spring OnionsWith this dish the pork was tough and tasteless and the sauce wasnt to my taste.Overall cant say I will go back. When the best part is the prawn crackers something seems wrong.
Beautiful chinese meal here! Fast ... extremely friendly service. Delicious food!! Highly recommend.
Got a takeaway from here as the reviews say lots of good things about the place.Someone has bought positive feedback as I dont believe people can really give them 5 stars. We couldnt eat the rice as it was so salty and the pancakes rolls tasted odd.We left most of what we bought but as we are not locals we wouldnt go back anyway.
Booked here for our evening meal on a day trip to Penzance. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The food was ok, but not great. The dining area was unpleasantly cold (colder than outsidewhich made for a poor dining experience.
First class Chinese Restaurant. Dont be put off by the shabby exterior. Inside is very clean and well presented. Downstairs tables are seated in nice little alcoves, makes it warm and cosy. Despite short notice, they fitted us in and served the food very quickly from ordering. Staff friendly and helpful was nice to talk with them all at the end. Welcoming, excellent food. Very tasty. Great price range. A must if youre looking for an evening meal.
Fantastic food. Not sure about the Bang Bang Chicken it was a bit lettuce and salad cream. Everything else was lovely. Table was seated with all for of us facing a wall but covid 19. Crispy aromatic duck was best Ive ever had. Squid spring onion and ginger was delicious.
I came for travel on year 2019. Endless aftertaste with this Chinese traditional dishes. And before i Leave I order take away to share with my friends all in hotel. Those foods are still delicious and warm. Good quality and good services. Welldone Sea Palace πππ
Restaurant was quiet and appeared to abide by covid regulations. Unfortunately the food was average, the chicken tasted slightly rubbery but was still edible, they were also not able to provide us with drinks on the menu that we had ordered. Sauce was quite salty. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
We came here with three children at the end of the day, after a long drive down to Cornwall, and had a truly excellent meal. I had vegetarian options, the children and my husband had seafood, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the dishes. Staff were friendly, informative and accommodating throughout, would highly recommend this restaurant.
We ordered a take away - without even having access to a menu. The staff on the phone were courteous and quick, the food was delivered by taxi in record time and the meal was not just the best Chinese food Ive ever had but one of the best meals Ive ever had. Tofu in ginger was spectacular and the spicy beef was superb. Really excellent flavours and exemplary service.
