City West Centre Corner Railway Street &, Sutherland St, West Perth WA 6005, Australia, Perth
Kid-friendly museum featuring interactive science exhibits & a planetarium with themed shows.
Havent been here for 20 years until today, used to frequent this place in the 90s. Its mostly the same stuff thats been cleaned up. A couple new additions but its pretty sparse. Bit underwhelming as a family experience but the 4 year old liked it.
I absolutely LOVE scitech, it’s a beautiful place full of science, one of my favourite subjects. It shows how much fun science can be and how science is everywhere. It’s a great place for people all ages to discover new and interesting things about our world or even beyond. 10/10!
Good for kids but why is the current fasion of indoor, public spaces, dark, lights on and stuffy? Can we have some windows and doors open please? My Dad took me here when I was a kid and I remember the interior being light and breezy.I had a good time there though. I still do not know how that ball did not shoot off??? There was air comming out of a grate and one can put a ball above the expelled air and the ball hovered in air. I just cant see how it did not shoot off? There was written explanation at the experiment stations. I am 39 and was really entertained! We have a seven and ten year old and were able to let them run loose in Scitech. Good value for money 💰
Great place for kids of all ages especially those of school age. So many different things for them to have a go at.
Very good interactive shows and museum and food is well priced. Good for kids
Always a good experience.Drove past on the freeway the other night, and was able to see the new lights on the dome. Very cool.
Kids loved it and totally enjoyed the puppet show and science show. Will go back again
Haven’t been to Scitech in years. Took my daughter and granddaughter, we had the best time. I had always wanted to see the planetarium show and was not disappointed. It was amazing!
Good place to visit with Grandchildren, lots of fun. It was good to be able to take our own lunch.
So much fun and excitement for children of all ages. Would recommend 2yrs+.Displays change regularly and there are areas and shows for all ages
Good place to take the young ones on a wet day if you have never been before.Main reason for going was to take the young fella to watch a show about the planets which we heard about. Sadly when we lined up we were kicked out because he was 4 weeks below the age of 4yr and not allowed in. Fairly poor excuse about health and safety given for the reason. Also a lot of the games/activities were not working in the main hall area and hand sanitiser containers were out of liquid which is not ideal when everything is so hands on with kids coughing everywhere.Id say more suitable for kids aged 5-8 based on the activities, and permittance.
Amazing area with some amazing technology for the whole family and very fun things everywhere you look!
Its okay, we went to "toddler fest" and had to pay full price for the adults which I think isnt fair as there was nothing for adults and kids cant go on there own. Very underwhelming. Wont be returning for a while to be honest.
Havent been to Scitech since MY girls were small and had fond memories of returning to an exciting , bright and fun filled place to enjoy with my now 9 year old Grand daughter. However what a HUGE let down.Three words to describe the place, Dirty, damaged and disappointing.I totally respect that having hundreds of kids firing through the place all weekend would make it a challenge to maintain some kind of cleanliness BUT, dirty floors, grotty equipment with surfaces that looked like they hadnt seen a wipe for decades, the whole place felt like a giant moving petri dish of covid encrusted grot.My grand daughter has autism and is very play specific the one thing she loved was the spinning chair, despite the seat being torn. The other item she wanted to try was the scaffolding with turning wheels, however the one she was spinning did nothing and underneath was a ladder! Obviously still awaiting repair.Having enjoyed so many beautiful open spaces, parks and free activities such as the museum, art gallery and so on, I found the cost was not worthy of what was on offer. The place was very busy and with such numbers one would assume the place is not lacking funds. Its time the whole place had an over haul from the dark and old settings to something bright and more in keeping with todays interests.Im sorry this is not a positive review but hopefully I have highlighted our experience from the perspective of a visitor who expected something fun and left in a very short time, ( 20-30 minutesfeeling a lot more needs to be done to create a brighter and more interesting venue for children of all abilities.
Average, the place starts to show its age. Also, there was an unusually high proportion of "unsophisticated people"... which made the experience even less enjoyable.
This is great event to get wonderfull experiance for all. They are not published there ticket fees in google. But, there ticket rates are $19 per Adult. $12 per Child. Also they have yearly memberships. $55 Per year. For adult. Plsease publish your correct ticket prices at google services section avoiding public dissapoinments.
Wow love this science centre! And especially the planetarium where you get to see virtually the galaxy and sky cleared with stars!
Eating a cooked chicken whilst touching all the exhibits with greasy hands is a favourite pastime of many a child ..
If your kids 4 or 5 then they will be fine but any older then that they will be board. So much stuff is broken or rundown/missing pieces ect. Needs a lot of work and new attractions. Nothing been updated or changed in years. Won’t be bothering to come back.
Great day out! Took my 1 year old for the first time with friends from the UK and we had a fab time. Lots of interactive play to keep children occupied for ages. I would say it does look a little dated in areas and was a lot smaller than I expected, regardless it was still a good few hours out.
Great presenters, especially the Under Pressure and Shipwrecked shows. Interactive and super kids friendly. Our 3.5yo loved it! We went there when she was younger which wasnt as fun but perfect age to go now. Thanks Scitech!
The planetarium alone is worth it. They matches the projection with what you will see in the sky that day, and its pretty spot on
Great place for all family, planetarium is great to see. You can spend hours there and wont be bored.
We, 3 adults, couldnt bring our niece who is about 3 or so due to her being sick. I thought it wouldnt be exciting but the employees pulled out some old stuff they had in the back. We where able to control james arm by having Cynthia close her hand! Very cool and was super awesome of them to do that for us!!!
Fantastic science museum. Its smaller than some but has great activities for teenagers. The planetarium and science show were excellent and the Spy File activity was a cool escape room style adventure.
Fun place with fun science experiments with lots of fun kids to play with or if your an adult you can go to their fun cafes. Though its veery fun, surreal, and entertaining for the family, with friends, or on a school trip. Though it is a bit over-rated.
Great place with great initiative with $5 parking fee for the duration. Fun for young and old. The kids can really spend a whole day here. My only disappointment was the bubble show; I thought it could be shorter and more bubbles.
Great place for kids of all ages to learn, explore and have fun. The regular talks are varied and they even have a puppet show for the children who may be too old for the more informative demonstrations and talks. Lots of hands on activities and our son loves it here, I would say we have gone 4 times in as many months since taking out annual membership, well worth it.There are periodic school excursions here so things can get quite busy even during the week around lunch time, it’s quietest in the first 90 mins of opening
We have 3 Year membership per kid for $35! Now its $35/Year per kid. But still commendable because it gives you privilege to book in advance online (handy during lockdown/school holidays/rainy weekend etc). Companion Cards are accepted, so the carer gets free access. Plenty to see. There are shows in Planetarium which is nicely customized for the age of the kids. Less than 5 minutes commute from the CitiWest Train station (If you want to avoid parking fees). There are 2 restaurants in the downstairs with reasonable pricing. Lots of Touch, Look, Hear and feel activity around. Highly recommended.
Lots to see and do. The dome theatre experience is a definite must! Love the bee hive in the restaurant area. So fascinating to be able to see the queen at work and the worker bees, as well as the pollen hunters coming and going in and out of the real world through an ingenious clear tube so children can see their journey. Only touched on the rest of the area, it is definitely a multiple visit!
Scitech ok, the brain fast reacting light game was our favourite. My 10 year and I also really enjoyed the 25 min planetarium presentation on James Webb the new infrared telescope.
Really good. Took students there for an excursion. Only issue was the lack of supervision from staff with their students from another school that were there. Those students were running around pushing other kids, some toddlers, out of exhibits so they could have a go. This is NOT a reflection on the scitech staff that were very helpful and lovely.
The staff were great! So passionate and happy to answer any questions, especially the lad with tattoos and accent!(we’re sorry we forgot your name!so engaging and despite being directed at children, at 25 I was more than captivated!
My friend and I went to scitech together on Sunday. We are almost 30, but it was a fantastic experience for us too! There is so much to do there and we easily spent a bit over 4hrs there. We loved the hands on activities and also the different shows.Coming out of the planetarium shows was a bit confusing as we popped up out of the main entrance...but we found our way back in.A very fun and interactive place :)
Its a great fun for the kids! My son 3 years old loved it. lots of things to do inside. some shows you can choose to attend to. my son loves everything in there. I think the only disappointment is that they only have like a vending machine for drinks and snack inside. if youd like to have a lunch youll have to go out and look for a feed. but all and all the place is full of fun for the kids.
Really enjoyed the experience here. We hadnt been for years and years, and the kids had only been for a party so this was our first real time visiting as a family. There were so many activities to do and so many things to see here with all of our kids (aged 2-6seemingly with something to keep them busy.We ended up joining as a member, and Scitech actually refunded us the cost of the trip today! Looking forward to coming back and exploring the area in more detail.
Smaller than the science museums around the country, but the children had a wonderful time. The 0-6 section has plenty of activities to keep them occupied for hours. I did note on the website it said sanitizing had increased due to COVID-19, but there was no one sanitising the areas and high touch items. Would be good to see a team on the ground cleaning as there were plenty of snots and coughs as you expect with young children.
Scitech is great for all ages. Introduces the youngsters to scientific concepts and principles in a fun, dynamic and engaging manner. It’s worth the visit!Attached is our models made in the creative section.
Though I think Scitech is primarily aimed at young children it was better than I expected. My high functioning autistic 13 year old who hates leaving the house was having fun there as was my 10 year old daughter. And to be honest so were my wife and I.
Visited 9 months ago and theres some new exhibits and the old classics too. Particularly like the new Earth Matters certainly of exhibits, especially the Banksia Woodlands one. Well organised for physical distancing and limiting numbers, with lots of helpful staff on hand. Just be sure to plan and book your tickets ahead.
A great option for those with kids on a rainy day. There are a lot of educational content related to science to hands on. Toddler area is full of toys and the staff shows how to play when they are not busy. Annual passes available in reasonable prices.
The best all-you-can-play place for a whole day for adults and kids and the best economical babysitting for parents.I come here to take kids to let them experience science with their multi senses.Their planetarium is for 4 years old or above. However, it opens the door to the little ones during toddlerfest.Under 4 is free accompanied with a paid adult. Here has been an option for my family to come on a hot day, a rainy day or when kids beg to take them to here for a fun day. They don’t understand much about the science behind the exhibitions but anyway they enjoy everything interesting and my 4 years old reminds Scitech whenever she finds some phenomenons in our daily life with same scientific principles shown in Scitech and told me that she knew it.It makes me proud of myself to be a good parent and helps me to get my self esteem higher seriously. It’s worth to pay for the annual membership including a special discount for a whole day parking in West Perth to visit Perth city after Scitech.I have been an annual membership for nearly 3 years and today my husband and a girl turned 4 years old joined to their annual membership, too.
Such a great place for kids of all ages. The just love being able to touch and press all the buttons and learn about science in a very fun environment. The shows are just fabulous and we love watching them again and again. The planetarium is wonderful, very relaxing and informative. The memberships is great value for money. Highly recommended.
Great place for the kids, theyll play for hours on end and even learn a thing or two! Lots of great interactive exhibits, which change quite frequently. There are also educational shows throughout the day. On the way out is a gift store packed with fun toys to continue the experiments at home.
An excellent place to expose the young ones to the magic of science. All day parking is available at SciTech at $5.Theres the planetarium with its mega field of view theatre; discovery shop to perpetuate the scientific learning back at home and numerous interactive exhibits that can also educate adults (shh... The kids need not know ;)Bring your own lunch because theres only one cafe and they seem disorganized. Had to wait a disproportionately long time (~30 minsto get two sandwiches and two drinks. The queue doesnt seem that long as well. ~4 persons ahead
It is an enchanted place for all ages as long as they have curiosities to learn and to explore. We have been to Scitech since 2010, Themes change a lot all the time so you will never get bored.
Amazing they even had an origami specialist who designed and made his own paper plane which like a boomerang flies back to you and lands on your palm in a variety of Figure 8 vertically and horizontally glide paths (if you throw it with his practiced skill!). He made several for me as well as many other onlookers and as a volunteer does it out of love for science and the joy of sharing his art.
Well worth it, great value day out. The kids are engaged in many different ways that get them thinking about science as well as having fun. The range and accessibility of the experiments is good for children of all ages. The best thing is we have been four times in the past 8 months and every time we have gone there were significant changes with new features, so the staff seem to work hard to keep it fresh. One of the best extras is that they also run several different shows and performances, from puppet shows, to cosmos shows in the planetarium.
Sci-tech is fantastic. This place has so many activities that all the family will love. There are many things to do here from the planetarium, puppet theatre, shops, a huge room with hands on experiments and bee hive. The staff are very friendly and helpful going the extra mile to keep children happy when doing activities. You will need a packed lunch or eat elsewhere as there are no Café facilities apart from the drinks and chocolate vending machines. There is free parking, you just bed to ask for a ticket from reception when paying. This place is great and really fantastic for children. Would 100% recommend.
The kids really enjoyed the 4 hours we spent here. Wide variety of interactive exhibits for kids of all ages, especially between 6-10. Planetarium is the largest one in Australia, and there are many shows that even the adults Will enjoy. Will definitely recommend to all others. Free parking for 2 hours.
