My toddler loves it here, and every time we go she seems to learn something new. The current light theme is great

Great place to visit for everyone of all ages. There is a couple of places at an extra cost but the main part was well worth seeing with some interactive displays available. Good admission fees. Plenty of parking available which is not free.

Lightning room is well worth it, was surprised to see even my 5 year old following along and interacting and answering questions. My 10 year old really enjoyed it too. The rest of the exhibitions tend to be the same and have been the same as long as I can even remember when I went as a teenager, but its still interesting kids of different ages will be able to grasp different concepts and learn different things. Great place to visit for older kids and even adults, wouldnt really recommend for kids younger than 5 unless theyre tagging along with an older sibling

I took my 17 month son to visit scienceworks and we both really enjoyed it. The facility in general seemed well maintained and was entertaining enough for my son. - He really enjoyed the interactive buttons and the lights in the upper level.

Kids had fun. Was quite busy and the food at the cafe was expensive and took ages! The lightening room exhibition was good but too expensive for what it was. Wont be back anytime soon unfortunately.

Great interactive museum, but really went for the toddler area, its a little bit too dark for me, the amount of people is also too much in ratio to the amount of things kids can play with. Given this is during the weekdays. Hope they can either expand the area and things to do or limit the people going in and out.

Wow! Great science museum! We visited with our son and 3 grandsons (ages 8, 6, 4during Spring school holidays. It was busy but not overwhelming. The boys especially enjoyed a couple interactive exhibits on the second floor... the "snow box" where kids manipulate fans in the corners of a plexiglass box to blow snow around... and an adjacent box where kids rotate "jets" of colored fluid in a ~1 x 5 meter 2d display... the jets interact with each other or fixed boundaries to create vortices and complex flow patterns. Its a great way to visualize flow... and the patterns are dynamic and beautiful "art"even if youre not into fluid mechanics. I highly recommend this place!

Its definitely a place more for children and great to bring the kids to enter the world of science. Although for some reason I did have greater expectations in there but I cannot pinpoint exactly what it is. However I can tell that the kids seem to really enjoy it. So the experience probably doesnt benefit adults and much as it does to children. Nonetheless, it was still a decent experience.

Its fun but wow its expensive for what you get. Entry fee doesnt include shows or exhibitions, that all costs extra. Why does it cost so much to introduce your child to science? This really should be more affordable or at least one price to cover everything.

Planetarium has the entire dome as a screen. Good for parents with kids. There are also a few shows for adults. Parking is available at the place, and is also accessible by public transport. You can get popcorn and ice cream on site.

Science works was great, plenty for the kids to look at and explore. Only $15 per adult and all kids were free. Fantastic value for money. Very child focussed but plenty for adults to look at also. Only con is that parking is not free, but given it is a metro suburb, theres no surprises there.

If you like science, this is the place to go! I myself went to the planetarium and I learnt not one, not two, not three, but ten different facts about black holes!!!I loved all the rooms, and I really liked the interactive activities! They even had a cafe, which had delicious food, including the caramel popcorn!I knew that this was the perfect museum for me. Everything was spectacular. The lightning room, the museum, the cafe, and the information!I highly recommend this extraordinary museum to everyone of all ages! 🧪 🧬

Amazing day out. Great for kids and family or just curious minds! Wish the pumping station was more inviting instead of a cold dark place. Definitely worth joining the annual museum membership. If not, its still worth it!

A fantastic place to visit with young kids. Lighting is its main attraction with so many lighting exhibition inside that will make your kids and yourself amazed. The entry fee is affordable and if you live close-by, yearly membership might be your best of interest. The bad side is not so much parking spot so might want to wait a while to get a spot especially when it is raining. They have $6 parking fee for all day.It also has several playground for kids inside.Definitely recommended place to visit in Melbourne.

Kids had fun but we found it VERY crowded, waiting in lines for a turn at every exhibit.Would like to see more food options at the cafe, and I dont see why they dont sell ANY soft drinks.Friendly reminder: if you park in the parking area outside the building, you need to PAY FOR A TICKET. Plan ahead :)Pre-purchase tickets online to skip waiting in line.

Thoroughly enjoyed the day at Scienceworks with my daughter and son-in-law and the grandchildren ranging from 8-12 years old. All of us had a great time. The interactive exhibitions are a lot of fun (the best way to learn). We saw the Lightning Show and went to the Planetarium for the Starlight show, both of which were very well run. Entertaining and informative. The kids each had some pocket money to spend in the gift/souvenir shop and went home very happy :-)

This is a wonderful place for both kids and adults to gain new knowledge in a fun and interactive manner. I went during the school holidays and it was quite crowded with families. I noticed the kids being quite engaged with the educational exhibits. The lightning room show was literally electrifying. The presenter explained concepts clearly and got the audience enthusiastically involved. Latecomers will not be allowed into the lightning room after a show has started, so make sure you arrive on time! All types of students get free entry to Scienceworks, but you will have to purchase tickets for certain shows.

Nice museum focusing on scientific topics and concepts, mainly aimed at primary school aged children but can be enjoyed by the whole family. Also has a Planetarium with different daily shows to experience. Don’t forget to check out the old sewerage pumping station at the back of the complex. Only giving 3 stars because the building has not been upgraded in a major way since it opened 30 years ago and it’s showing its age, with the main issue being it gets so cramped during busy times that it feels claustrophobic and you can’t easily experience the exhibits due to the amount of people. Also some exhibits like the sportsworks section haven’t been upgraded in about 20 years and need some attention to keep them up to date and looking good. More sheltered cafe seating is also needed, as well as better car parking (ideally a multi-storey car park). Basically needs to be upgraded to the standard of Melbourne Museum. A microwave also needs to be put in the Parents Room for heating up bottles.

The young kid area was fantastic for young kids, as was the playground, but unfortunately the other displays were more for older kids 10 plus, so my little ones didnt appreciate them. So I wouldnt recommend science works if you have young kids under 10.The planetarium was fabulous and all the kids loved tyco goes to Mars, kids were 3, 3, 5, 9, 12.It was also very busy during school holidays, with no real ability to socially distance, so if thats important go outside school holiday periods.

What an amazing, inspiring, wonderful family experience! From the lighting show, with Ben & Nicole who entertained us, were patient and passionate guides, and highly entertaining. To the planetarium, which was such a beautiful way to complete our day, with a knowledgeable presenter too! Theres always something fun or interesting to learn, thank you and love that this is a part of our museum membership, great value!

I used to take my son to Science Works quite regularly, but admittedly hadnt been back in a while. Usually we love it, but our last trip was a bit disappointing. Its starting to look rather tired and run down these days. Numerous displays not working at all or not working properly (not just the odd one here and there, there seemed to be issues with a lot of the interactive displays). I noticed the lock on the kids play area wasnt working so kids could easily open it, and so many parts in the play area missing - the clear shapes to build with on the tables only had a few left, some of the cubes for the light wall were missing, some of the magnetic cogs were missing, and the blocks in the constitution type area have now changed from foam to plastic, and there wasnt many there to use.And while this isnt a reflection on the venue itself or its staff, when theres other kids pushing in, it becomes very frustrating. I teach my son about taking turns and waiting in line, and about sharing, but when were waiting for our turn then another child comes and pushes in or takes over, its infuriating! How am I meant to explain to my son that because he did the right thing and waited that he now has to wait longer or miss out because someone else didnt do the right thing and wait, so they get to go first? And this just keeps happening over and over, all throughout our visits, every time. This isnt a reflection on the museum at all, but certainly does create a negative experience, especially when it happens all the time. This is why we hadnt visited in quite some time and probably wont again for a while.

Scienceworks is a great place to stop in and visit with the kids. There is a dedicated 0-5 years area called Ground Up, different areas dedicated to different sciences i.e. Sport Science, Computer Technology, Astrology etc. They have a dedicated area for pop up displays - but it was closed when we visited last Thursday. These different areas are more suited to those aged 5-12 years.Out the back of the main building are the pump house, small cafeteria and pop up coffee shop and kids playground. Cafeteria food was above average, reasonably priced, clean and quick service. In terms of accessibility, it is very easy to glide through with a pram and the walkways are wide for the most part, so you arent constantly bumping into people. There is also a lift to access the upstairs part of the building. From the carpark there are a lot of flat footpaths. There are a few toilets around too and in the Ground Up section - specific parent change rooms for the little ones.Parking during the week was easy and not hard to find a spot in the carpark. Note - carpark costs $5 for all day. On the weekend I imagine it would be a lot harder as the carpark would only hold a few hundred, the streets are narrow and being next to Spotswood latest attraction - Grazeland, it might be a little tricky. This science museum is not the biggest Ive been to, but its worth the visit at least once. We will be back again when our kids are a little bigger.

We took kids aged 5, 7, 9, 12, 14 and they all had a great time. Didnt expect to stay as long as we did as they were having so much fun! Highly recommend for value for money and a great school holidays program. We also booked the Tycho goes to Mars show in the planetarium, the younger ones loved it! Definitely recommend booking in advance.

Great place to bring younger and older kids. We enjoyed it even as adults. Dedicated play area for under 5yo which my 3yo loved. Kept him entertained for a while. Definitely see the Planetarium and the Lightning room if you haven’t seen them before. Suggest booking ahead on a weekend or public holiday visit. We’ll definitely be back to see other things that are more suited to an older child.

Great spot even for adults on a date. The place is quite small and more aimed at kids, but thats what makes everything so accessible and easy to understand. We went on a weekday and was about to catch the planetarium show: Into the universe. Highly recommended! Best seats are in the back.Lots of great interactive exhibits, but our favourite areas were sportsworks and the second level. Plan ahead since the opening times and planetarium shows are quite limited. 3 hours would be about enough to explore everything.

Definitely a place to go if you have kids and try to find things for them to do (playground, interactive displays, picnic area, show and tell session). Else, its a little entertaining for adults too.The physical ground size is big but compared to other science museums Ive visited, its not as many things to see. However of you havent been, do give a visit.

Such an awesome place to visit. Full of fun and knowledge to kids and adults as well. The place is huge, be prepared for a day full of fun.Purchase your tickets to enter the museum and walk through the ground d and 1st floor, where you get to see different science evolution and development. Kids get to play different games and practice certain science ideas, which are so much fun.Entry to the planetarium to watch certain short educational movies, you need to buy special entry tickets for that, for each movie you would like to watch. You cant re enter, and you need to select the time you will enter as well.BuildRobotics and coding workshop and other workshops need to be pre purchased well in advance.Outdoor area with on-site small Cafe, playgrounds and lots of fun.You can bring your own snacks. Two different Parking areas, one you need to pay and the.other is free.A highly recommended place if you havent already been to.Have fun..
