Set in the Werra Valley, this cozy stone and timbered hotel in a castle dating from 1461 is 10 km from the A7 autobahn, 8 km from the Erlebnispark Ziegenhagen amusement park and 21 km from the center of Göttingen. The relaxed rooms have Medieval touches such as carved canopy beds or sleigh beds, and feature free Wi-Fi. Room service is available. There’s a Medieval-style restaurant with carved wainscoting, a tavern in the stone barrel vault, and a cafe serving desserts. Parking is complimentary. Pets are welcome (fees may apply).
Amazing castle in beautiful country side! Regular tours and great venue for medieval festivals.
Cool location, nice staff
Visited a greatly arranged wedding here. Was ready nice!
Such a special experience and very friendly people with exciting histories of the food and the castle. And the very best breakfast 😊
You have to pay an entrance fee just to even get to the restaurant. ridiculous.
Amazing experience! The host alone is worth the trip. But together with the very good food and impressive location it all adds up to a very enjoyable evening.
Had a magical visit at this castle. Amazing architectural details and history. The owners hospitality is heartwarming.
Beautiful and calm place in the middle of the nature. Lot of possibility for running, cycling or just walking around.
Toll
We stayed tgere as part of our hiking trip. It was very nice and original. Excellent restaurant. The only negative thing was that breakfast did not start until 930. When hiking you want to be on your way very early. Breakfast should have been no later than 0800 or they could have asked us what time we prefer since they only have 2 rooms. Tge restaurant had one vegan dinner option that i preciated very much. Loved my stay and would recomend it warmly. I esoecially liked tge originallity of tge place. Some burg hotels modernise and stream line too much... This place was very much a real old burg. Loved it.
Planning a wedding is stressful, and I am someone that does not handle stress well. I worked with a destination wedding group to try and mitigate some of the issues, but we still faced some significant stressors. However, everything changed once we began our stay at Schloss Berlepsch and met Fabian Berlepsch and his incredible staff. My husband and I have both discussed that we have NEVER received service and support as outstanding as what we received from Fabian. He is not only the Baron of the castle, but he is the primary host due to a recent staff departure. Fabian was managing multiple companies, a family, as well as serving and assisting with our wedding. He recommended wine pairing and made my stressed family laugh and forget about their worries. He also stepped in a few times when we faced barrier issues. He was unbelievably kind and charming and went out of his way to recognize his excellent staff. I am still thinking about the food at the castle! It is simply fantastic. I loved everything that the chefs made. We had a couple of picky eaters who rarely try anything new, and they raved about the dishes. The rest of the staff, including Jawerka, who served us breakfast, and Maria, the manager, were superb. They were so friendly and kind that we immediately felt welcomed. If you want to stay at a beautiful historic castle, with fantastic food and staff, you MUST visit Berlepsch castle. I honestly cannot wait to go back.
Niceee
Very beautiful from the outside. Entrance even to the park around it is quite expensive, so we didnt go in. But next to it seems to be a very nice tree house hotel, maybe check that out :)
A Historic location par excellence, fantastic food and ambience, pet friendly. The owners and Staff v professional and beyond the bounds of helpful friendliness. Rooms comfortable and quirky but what do you expect its a 14th century castle ? Its like staying in someones house - I will definitely will return - almost did not write this - as it a secret to be kept
Without doubt a beautiful and picturesque Castle set in place just above the Werra Valley, it contributes in many ways to the local community and surrounding areas and the Berlepsch family has been around for generations and the history is very rich. While I enjoyed my fleeting visit and I was able to capture the castles beauty from many angles, I felt unwelcome at moments despite paying for entry and I was unable to go inside the castle itself due to a wedding that was taking place that day. Do not let this put you off as it was likely my only experience at the time. The surrounding area is heavy in forrest but you can access via car with car parking facilities, alternatively you can walk/cycle from the local towns and villages, in my case I cycled all the way from Witzenhausen which was approximately 8km, very accessible. At times the facilities such as toilets and restaurant should be available to visit. All in all a great little visit and their working blacksmiths seems very interesting indeed. Go check it out of your in the local area!
Beautiful place near Kassel. Perfect for one day trip (also with kids). You can find here comfortable parking, even for bigger cars.
Really good castle, need to improve, including if the apple garden around castle could be activated. When walking from Gartenbach in summer, we could find wild blackberries along the forest side.
I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit this castle as there isn’t much to see. It’s in quite the beautiful setting and the gardening is lovely.
Nice castle, seems to often have events on there.
Beautiful castle! A wedding was happening the day I visited! Also very nice forest around to mountain bike ;)
Beautiful!
Fun
A nice place to visit. Its very historic with very nice people.
One of my favorite castles. It got more touristy in the last years. But that also means they have nice events like medieval festivals. The view is super nice and the nature too.
...a
Nice castle on the outside but we were able to pay to come in and everything was closed and no one came out to us... museum door was closed and a rope was across the door.. very disappointing..We came at 3PM on a weekday- there were no signs stating it was closed at the entrance and nothing on the website. There were 2 workers who ignored us completely and didnt ask what we were doing there or that the castle was closed.

Nice castle from outside. Its 4 euros per adult to go in. I didnt visit.
Voted most beatiful castle in Hessonia, Schloss Berlepsch is a great place for a sunday trip. Medieval atmosphere, food and drink guarantee a great stay.
Super Events
I went there to have a look at the old castle and was rewarded with lovely cake and stunning views.
Awesome
You can see how they are all behind their idea at Schloss Berlepsch. They opened as a tourist destination only recently and are doing a lot of things right here! Lovely place and very good food at an appropriate price point. Mix of traditional and contemporary cuisine; never dull. Also: allergens all properly put on the menu, well done. If they can keep up this level for a little longer they might become /the/ local go to location. Safe for POC.
Good to visit, not so far from Goettingen. It is very gotic.
Nice, charmful place. Fantastic view. Well be back soon!
Beautiful Castle in a stunning environment. Certainly worth a visit.
The Berlepsch ExperienceWe had seen a documentary from the hr TV station back in march 2017. It was all about the river "Werra". The show also included several Castles, one of them Schloss Berlepsch. We call and gor reservation over Labor Day 2017. It was a Grimms Dream come true. If you want to stay at a true original Castle, that is the place to go. Food was perfect, the people super friendly. Room was like out of grimms fairy tales. We can highly recommend the trip to Schloss Berlepsch.
Nice 😊😊😊😊😊
Payed full price for no attractions. Everything where closed except the expensive restaurant and the church. The museum is only open in week days and when theres a tour-thing. The staff isnt very friendly either. You got to pay extra if youre using a wheelchair, bringing a dog or carrying your baby in a stroller.
It is an old castle with a lot of charme and a wonderful view over the landscape.
Nice surprise that we found out of the blue. Really recommend a visit to this "true" place with a very nice family still living there and try to maintain the atmosphere.
Nice place to host group events. Also has a good collection from all over the world at the museum.
We happened to be at the castle when there was a wedding going on. So most rooms were closed off. Still they charged us the regular entrance fee (€3while we really couldnt do anything and were between the wedding guests. Not terrible, but also not very pleasant.
It is a beautiful castle from the inside and from the outside. We have been there on Halloween and for a photoshoot, and it was worth the entry fee. The food is good and the whole castle is just like you would imagine a medieval castle from a Hollywood movie.
Great nice...
Not so good location but the castle is beautiful and stay in the top of the mountain, before you arrive on the caslte you can stop the car before and take a beautiful picture from far away, the sunset is a good option if you want take pictures of the castle.
Beautiful place.
