The best views in the whole Heidelberg! Follow the arrows for "Berg gartens" and you will get there. There is no fee to visit. It is about 10 minutes of walking from the city center up write steep hill. I think you will observe castle better from here than from the castle courtyard itself. It is also nice place for a walk or run.

Beautiful observation area that overlooks the river and the city. The landscape is beautiful with the castle overlooking it all. Free to access, uncluttered gravel/dirt walking path, plenty of benches and shaded areas to sit, and trash cans.

Really cool place to go. From this view, you can see 80% of all best places to go in Heidelberg. I really loved it. The view, its air and atmosphere were really awesome. We plan to go to König Stuhl next time. It was the only thing we could not see fron there. Only cons would be parking lots. It is difficult to find one on weekends and also tooo expensive. 1€ per 20 minutes of parking.

Beautiful views of the castle and the city from up here. It can be a bit of a steep walk if you come from the castle but it’s worth it.

Beautiful view of the city from the castle gardens. Ideal place to got with friends or family, some food and spend time there.Best time for photos? Early in the morning or just at sunset time. For a few ours in the afternoon the sun will be facing your camera.

Great open view of the city. Nothing blocking you to see the town, castle or the river. The road up here is widy and narrow, sometimes only enough for one car to pass. The adjacent parking lot is easy and metered. About 300m walk to the observation deck. Glad we went and didnt just pass through this town.

Spectacular panoramix view of the city. You appreciate the style in the old town, the location in between the two mountains while having the river in the middle!

It’s a hike, especially if you haven’t done a lot of cardio work in a while (like me), but it’s worth the effort and overall not a truly bad and long climb... maybe 10 min, tops!! The best spot to capture Heidelberg from above.Once done, walk back down to the city and treat yourself to a big cuppa, beer, wine, ice cream or chocolates. By then, you’re worthy of any treats 😜

Pretty much the viewpoint that most people take scenic pictures from. Also found a lot on postcards but obviously theres a reason why they chose the Scheffelterasse for that.
