Unassuming, compact eatery serving a wide range of Thai dishes since 1996.
Absolutely love this place. Everything I’ve had so far has been delicious. I’m hoping to work my way through the whole menu because it all sounds so freaking good.
Love, love their food. Staff are super helpful and friendly. Though I live in Mass. heck I take that drive to R.I. for the take out option.Sucks theyre not fully open at least last I went there due to covid, but if you enjoy good Thai cuisine, check them out, you will notbe disapointed.😋😋😋🤩
They charged $18 for a half pint of "seafood" soup that had one scallop and one shrimp and no rice. Their food is far too expensive for the small portions that they give, they dont include rice with any of the dishes (even curry), and they screwed up my order both of the times Ive ordered food there. Never coming back.
Weve gone to this restaurant for years. Last night we ordered through GrubHub because pandemic. I confess to being a bit hangry as I waited for the food. It took well over an hour and I was a tad apoplectic about that. I may have begun gnawing on my arm. An unsatisfactory phone call with them revealed that the food was probably on the way. Probably. Eventually the food arrived... and it was perfection. The hot food was hot, the cold food was cold. Every dish was delicious. Thank you hard working people at Sawaddee, and thank you for your hard work during this challenging time. And next time I wont skip lunch.
Place is too cramp and food is just ok. Order the shrimp pad sewee... It is a thai signature dish...but all i could taste was the salt. It has no flavor. It was pricey as well for a small sample. There is better options out there!
Fantastic, authentic Thai. I had nam sod which was delicious and had the right amount of ginger. My wife had the Bangkok curry and loved it, said it tasted just like it did in Thailand (I liked it too, there was too much for her, portions are generous). We had the fresh spring rolls beforehand which were notable for having mint; it made them super refreshing. Just great food all around!Edit: just saw that so many other reviews think the portions are small??? I can only surmise that Providence restaurants spoil their customers because these portions were just fine. The sticky rice is only 1.75 which is super reasonable IMO.
Ive been going here for over 15 years, and the food and prices have stayed consistent and tasty! I personally love going for lunch because the lunch specials include Tom Yum and a solid sized plate of food for around $10. You definitely get your moneys worth and the food is healthy and tasty! Just keep in mind, almost all Thai dishes use fish sauce, so even though Thai food has a lot of vegetarian and vegan options, it just wont taste the same if you have to omit ingredients, but they will definitely do it for you!
Way too overpriced for what you get. Close to $3 for ONE ping pong ball sized, freezer-burned mochi ice cream, and almost $7 for the tiniest serving of mango sticky rice Ive ever seen. Almost exactly 1x1in. in size. Absolutely ridiculous.
I ordered carry out here via grub hub and was extremely disappointed. WARNING: if you order a curry dish it does NOT come with the rice. You can imagine how frustrated I was when I opened my bag and didnt see the rice that should have accompanied my entree. I called Sawadee (thinking they had just forgotten to include it). Nope. Sadly their curry dishes only come with rice for an extra two dollars!!! This is the most nonsensical thing I have ever heard. When the manager said this to me I explained how I found it to be misleading because nowhere was it mentioned on their menu that this is not included, and that its quite strange that a curry would not automatically come with the very base you should be eating it with. She was very rude and responded that "not everyone wants carbohydrates". True, but youre going to charge someone a hefty $2 for those who want what should be a standard in a dish? Additionally, the portions was quite small. I will not be ordering from here again.
Got delivery from here. Wow... save yourself some money and do not order from here. There was no flavor in anything.... everything just tasted bland and like nothing. Also got an order of the steamed dumplings and was never so disappointed in anything. There were three small (sphere- size of a quarter maybedumplings in an order, which cost 6 bucks. Terrible terrible terrible
Very, very great restaurant. The interior and service feels very homelike, and the food is great. One neat thing was when I ordered their "wild curry," and they not only asked if I was sure (because, well, it was super spicy), but they actually brought out a small sample of the curry sauce itself so I could get a feel of what Id be dealing with!Of course, the curry was great. 10/10
Never been treated more rudely in a restaurant in my life. Our server was exceptionally polite, but the manager/owner came to our table on a busy night and asked us to leave before we had finished eating. We were taking our time, but she wanted to turn over the table quickly. I know its a small space, but nothing justifies treating customers so rudely.
It was my first time here. Im Thai. I ordered for Thai Steamed Curry Fish and grilled chicken with garlic and white rice. These two dishes were pretty good and authentic. I wish they have a coconut milk for mango and sticky rice.
Portions are a little small and its slightly over priced.. But it is delicious! I have brought many friends here for the first time and they have all loved it. Cute little restaurant, great atmosphere and delicious food. I highly recommend the mango curry!
I ordered a pad se ew and steamed dumpling.... Both were very tasty, I did not give it a 5 star rating because it is true ( about another review the portions are small.... Other than that definitely order out... PS its a cute cosy place but large parties wont fit... That does not mean dont order... Definitely do!
One of the worst Thai food dinners I have had, and Ive had a lot of Thai food and been to Thailand. The edamame beans appetizer was cold and tasteless. The Pra Rahm peanut dinner arrived mostly cold and it went downhill from there. The chicken was tasteless... Possibly just steamed or heated in a microwave. The vegetables seemed reheated from frozen, also appearing just like I get from the frozen section at Costco. The peanut sauce was cold and, being necessary to add flavor, there wasnt much of it. The place was a bit cramped - some might say it was cozy. If you sit near the door, be prepared for a cold draft every time the door is opened.
This is my favorite Thai restaurant. The food is wonderful and the staff attentive. The owner is very friendly and always ready to make your dinner experience wonderful. My favorite is the chicken tom yam soup...4 stars! This is authentic Thai food...vibrant, flavorful and full of spice. If youre looking for fantastic and authentic Thai food look no further than Sawaddee!
Awesome Thai food! This restaurant has the best Thai cuisine cooked in the traditional way. Nice atmosphere and service is always super friendly. I highly recommend the Tom Yum soup and green curry...both are delicious though I have never had a bad dish here. No other Thai restaurant in Providence can compete as far as I am concerned. My go-to spot for Thai!
This was the worst "Thai" place Ive ever been too!! The food portions were small and over priced and not even authentic Thai food. The workers there are not even Thai, the service was slow, and the women said a rude comment to me when I gave her a small tip. The food was terrible, I am Asian and I know what real Thai food should taste like, this may be a good place to American people, but its because they dont know any better.
