Rustic-style kitchen offering classic BBQ options with a choice of sauce, plus a bar with tap brews.
I highly recommend! Great local BBQ place downtown for a pretty reasonable price. The run it in a Subway style ordering method, in that everything takes place at the counter and you communicate what you want on your plate over the glass. Best place so far since Ive been in Athens that has the best Sweet Tea. (Why is it so hard to find GOOD sweet tea up here?!Will most certainly be back.
Laaaaawwwdd! Have mercy! Delicious! Highly recommend it! Lady running the front of house is the best host! See y’all soon.
Excellent food quality, Excellent service, Excellent ambience! I highly, highly recommend Saucehouse BBQ!
Had an absolutely horrendous experience dining at Saucehouse BBQ. Food is incredibly overpriced compared to the quality of food + portion size. I haven’t had worse food since Green Eggs and Ham day in elementary school
Learn how to treat your employees and then maybe you will be respected in this city. Not a great look talking trash about your employees and their family. Honestly just disappointing. Had a lot of potential in the industry and threw it down the drain. Do better trashhouse.
SHouse is easily my fave bbq spot in Athens 🏆 So many good times here & I love all the food/sauce options ❤️
Very yummy. Counter ordering with table service. Good stew, bbq and veggies. Easy to customize orders
The food was basic nothing great about it i will not be returning i spent about $20 I had the chicken with two sides and had two more side they are so small for 2.75 each because I still was hungry portions are very small especially the meat not worth my $20 I have had wayyyy better food for that price also the baked beans was mixed i guess with days old kidney beans I never seen dark red kidney beans in baked beans and they were only a few pieces of them in there my Hawaii rolls were stale, some of the workers were rude including the so called manager..but that one girl at the register was very nice and helpful eat here if you like paying 13.50 for a tiny portion of chopped chicken and I do mean tiny plus cold & some stale food the baked beans were good though the mac and cheese was pretty good just a little bland oh Also the manager would not let me exchange those funky tasting green beans he told me I had to buy another side if I wanted it & that he wouldn’t exchange it horrible customer service from managers part as well and this was my first time eating there
We booked sauces to cater our wedding of 200+ guests! They were exceptional! The food was delicious and our guests loved it! They’re full catering team were incredible and made our dinner perfect.
Totally awesome trivia nights on Wednesday’s. I personally can’t handle the brisket but it dang good going down. My buddy from church says to get the ribs as well.
Was a wonderful experience! My husband and I walked there from the hotel down the road. Mac&cheese was cheesy and gooey just like I love it! The variety of sauces allowed both my husband and myself enjoy different flavor profiles in one sitting.
The food was absolutely delicious! The brisket is extremely juicy. The brisket and Mac egg rolls were absolutely amazing!!!
Fantastic food and super friendly servers. Impressive selection of sides and sauces. Some of the best brisket Ive had in a very long time!
My favorite thing is the potato salad and the brisket with the sweet and hot sauce. Fun place, best patio in Athens to have a cocktail and watch the braves with friends. I got the opportunity to meet the manager Elliot and he went above and beyond to ensure that guests were having a good time and enjoying their time at Saucehouse. I will be back for both the food and for the excellent service from Elliot - he is awesome!!
Best brisket we have ever had outside of our home state of Texas. So tender and flavorful! It was our first visit to Saucehouse BBQ so the menu and options (which are posted on a blackboard on the wallwere cheerfully explained to us by the wonderful employee who took our order. Great experience!
Our first time in Athens and we went to the Saucehouse. The food was great and run by the nicest people. Patio seating and a full bar the perfect place to have a birthday party for your dog!!!!! We will go again!
The food here is always great and the service is even better. I especially recommend their bloody Marys and pulled pork and coleslaw egg rolls (it sounds weird but trust me theyre so good)
I visited the Saucehouse BBQ restaurant for the first time. I had heard some good things about the restaurant from my friends. It was awesome!!!!! The food was excellent, and the service was even better! The ribs were perfect, and I mean … fall off the bone perfect! The pulled pork sandwich was juicy and off the chain good! I truly loved the different sauces - the Pork Sauce was excellent on my pull pork sandwich. The side were great too - Mac and cheese was very good and the green beans were tasty. The desserts were very good too - bread pudding!!!!!!Overall - awesome BBQ restaurant.
Saucehouse Barbecue is a rare find!First, I need to share that I worked formally in law enforcement and traveled the U.S. extensively and had the opportunity to try barbecue from different regions of the United States, especially the south.Secondly, I had such a great experience at Saucehouse Barbecue in Athens, GA on 3rd of July and the food was outstanding.Third, the barometer for an excellent barbecue restaurant lies in three elements; their choice of sauces (there is something for everyone at Saucehouse Barbecue, hence the fabulous name, the baked beans (theirs are superb you have the option of non-kosher or kosher with beef), and the Brunswick stew.Where do I begin, their baked beans are a mixture of kidney, northern, traditional beans and are marinated in their famous sauces and meat (again pork or beef). I tried both and was astounded by the flavors. The Brunswick stew was a hearty and meaty mixture that was layered with fresh crunchy vegetables that must have been blanched in preparation because it really gave the stew a punch. Theirs is so different from other barbecue establishments in that it was not bland or too salty. They counteracted the salty meat (pork and beefwith the freshest vegetables and the broth was a light concoction of meat broth and tomato goodness. It was so good I ordered a quart to take home for 4th of July festivities.Additionally, their mac-and-cheese is decadent and can be a meal in of itself.Fourth, I cannot say enough about the staff, both knowledgeable and polite. The Manager Elliott was so accommodating and professional. In closing, I would go out of my way to drive the 2 hours to Athens, GA just to dine at Saucehouse Barbecue and you should too!
Brisket is moist and tender with a very good taste. A little bit more fatty than I’d like but that’s a personal thing. Mac-n-Cheese is very good also.
Had a curbside order. Waited in my car for 30 minutes past my pick up time & no-one came out. Finally went in. They sent me up front. Left with 2 tiny containers of Brunswick stew that cost $12 and is not near as good as other local BBQ restauraunts.
Nice ambiance with a patio and a porch as well as ample indoor seating. The menu has a lot of choices and even more choices for sauces, true to its name.Everything I ate was solid. No complaints. But nothing stood out either with the possible exception of the bread pudding. The bread pudding would have been even better with vanilla ice cream I think. Might try that next time.I will come back at least once more to try a few more dishes and maybe change my mind and rate them higher than 4 stars⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Ms.Linda and the staff were very nice. We had the pulled pork sandwiches, they were very good. We also ordered beans, okra and potato salad. We will definitely return to the restaurant.
These guys are awesome! They catered my son and daughter-in-law’s rehearsal dinner. Everything was on point! Food was amazing! They are very professional!
Im very picky when it comes to bbq and it can be a struggle to find a place that offers the taste I like. This place does it and then some. Their lunch special is a heck of a deal.
Thanks Saucehouse for providing wonderful customer service and food for our 2022 Graduation celebration! I ordered through the Catering group and they were so helpful in the amounts to order and what to order. Their brisket cannot be beat! Thanks again for over the top service and food! You are always our go to for tailgating!
Creative and quality food, excellent service and fun atmosphere. Best bang for the buck in town. The beer garden is the place to be on a sunny afternoon. Looking forward to the next time they host music.
First time here. Barbecue was awesome. I loved their selection of sauces. I had their house sauce. BBQ had great taste even without the sauce. Plenty of meat. Can’t wait to bring my family back one Sunday afternoon.
Even though the parking lot was packed we got in and got our food quickly. I had the pulled pork, baked beans, and fried okra, and my boyfriend had the half rack of ribs, mac n cheese, and the potato salad. We split a peach cobbler as well. The ONLY negative thing I could say is the okra could have been crispier. Everything was so delicious and there’s a sauce for everybody. The potato salad was genuinely one of the best I’ve ever had, and the baked beans were unique and delicious and not too sweet like some places. Ribs were falling off the bone & so tender. The peach cobbler was also amazing! Highly recommend!!
Had the brisket plate w/Hawaiian rolls, Mac n cheese, green beans and peach cobbler. Everything was delicious. Lots of sauces to choose from, I did the house and it was great. Really clean house and fast service!
While the taste of the food is absolutely amazing, I have to say I was disappointed. I get that there is a pandemic and all, but I feel like it was superrrr overpriced. For one they charge you an extra $2 for a kids meal if your kid is not with you. A $6 kids meal turned into $11 from the no kid charge and drink which it says it comes with on the menu. Then they try to charge $15 for a bbq plate when it is the exact same portion as the kids meal, with one extra side. The icing on the cake was that the lemonade was not even homemade. Again I wanted to give it a chance and support, but it’s definitely not worth the price.
Music was so loud by the order counter that it was hard to place your order. Both my brisket and my fried okra were cold, my brisket was very good however. My daughters chicken was dry. I really liked the atmosphere it seemed like a fun place but the food is mediocre.
I have had Saucehouse twice, once through a catered event, and once yesterday when my friend and I wanted BBQ. This place is SO GOOD. I got the pulled pork on a bun, mac and cheese, and green beans as well as a sweet tea. If you love sauce, they have tons of options and all of them are tasty. I personally love the House Sauce which is "everything but mustard". If you are craving BBQ, everything here will hit the spot!
Saucehouse is always amazing! The service is wonderful - their employees are always so friendly and helpful. And the food? I eat there nearly every week, if that tells you anything. Always cooked just right, and the best Brunswick stew in town. Love to see a UGA alum doing great, right here in the Classic City!
Really yummy food. Ate during the Super Bowl. They have a cute outside area with a big screen to watch games.
Sauce house is accurate! They have a ton! And as a huge fan of sauce, I was greatly pleased. The customer service is top notch. Super friendly and helpful. Elijah assisted me, and was great. He is training to be assistant man, which gives me a great feeling knowing they care about their customer service. The food was great! Brisket was nice and juicy with a good flavor, and you get a lot of food when you order the plate. Well worth it. My only dislike is that the brisket isnt sliced to order. It is already sliced and put in a pan. Its still really good, but I prefer a lean cut, therefore sliced to my liking. Other than that, top notch. Ill be coming back to try the bread pudding.
Went for lunch on a Friday. First time here and would go back again. I had brisket with Hawaiian rolls, coleslaw, Georgia hash, and banana pudding. Great sauces and everything was very tasty. Both of the guys with me said they liked it as well and one was from Nashville and I would say knows good BBQ.
We did a catered event for 50 for our sons graduation party. Their food is great or why would we have been there? The room was on premises, outside entrance and includes a bathroom. They have rooms for 20, 50 or 100. We were given access early to the room to set up. Summerlin was our server and she was over the top for the whole event. The catering coordinator came in on her off day to ensure everything was good. I could not add anything they could have done to make it a more memorable event. Thank you Saucehouse!
Very good BBQ! loved the fries😍❤️and sooo much sauce to choose from!!The cafeteria style(get your own foodwas convenient😊huge indoor seating to keep social distance from others!!
It was delicious! I got the pork, I loved mixing the Molasses Sweet BBQ and the North Carolina tangy one, the potato salad was REALLY great, Mac and Cheese was awesome, and the Banana Pudding was PHENOMENAL.
This place has amazing food! The brisket was excellent without a drop of sauce... but the suggested white sauce knocked it even further out of the ball park! What a home run! The Georgia hash was so good it made my mouth water..and I never- ever-order mac n cheese in a restaurant but this was excellent! My family got the pulled pork and the house sauce..and I have to say it too was a slam dunk... but I was so happy with my meal - that it was just a bonus ...but the house sauce was terrific! One side dish that did not knock it out of the park was the green bean casserole which normally is a family favorite... but it was missing black pepper from the "Campbells/Frenchs" recipe and it fell flat without it. Probably because everything on the table had so much flavor and without pepper the casserole had no flavor. It wasnt bad...just lacking the ingredients. But on a whole... this place was the bomb!!!!👍💯💜
I got a good amount of food and a beer for like 28 dollars...Amazing food quality, and their "Very Hot And Sweet" sauce is super delicious.Real good quality food.Staff were super duper nice and friendly. The atmosphere is also very lovely and cozy.
Wow! This place is perfect. It’s not fancy, it’s not flashy, it’s just right. Perfect atmosphere, friendly service, and free dessert if it’s your first time dining. Can’t wait to go back. I love it. It’s certainly a gem in Athens.
This is the most amazing mouth watering BbQ saucy foodie experience in the whole world!!! And the staff is excellant really make you feel welcomed and no rushing you out! The atmosphere is very inviting & I just loved being there rustic & cozy overlooking the fountain porch swing surrounded by trees! Ceiling fans made being outdoors really enjoyable. Gotta have their made from scratch mac & very cheese & the collard greens are as good as Moms!So worth the 55 minute drive. This is the ultimate go to for BBQ its all about the sauce!
Brace yourselves LITERALLY!!! Barbecue is a big thing in the south and Saucehouse MADE IT A BIG DEAL!!! The first thing I noticed was the big slab of ribs. HUGE!!! Then, the seemingly infinite many sides. That dang potato salad makes you want to slap your momma. I believe I caught diabetes from eating the bread pudding. But I degress, the ribs were SEASONED AND SAUCED TO PERFECTION! However, I still wanted to taste the variety of sauces. The SWEET MOLASSES and HOUSE SAUCE could be drunk by the gallon. Charlie was extremely friendly in introducing us to Saucehouse. And MAMA put her foot in the food. What an out of the world experience!!!! This was a great taste of what Georgia is all about and not Georgia like GA Bulldogs, the state Im referencing. #ROLLTIDE
What I like about this excellently cooked barbecue (BBQis that it comes just smoked, you can select from a dozen sauces to top your meal with. We had pulled pork and a 1/2 rack with two side each (mac and cheese, collards, coleslaw, baked potato and a stew). All were great. The sauces range from Carolina mustard to spicy hot (my favorite). I wanted to try one of their desserts (peach cobbler or banana pudding), but was too full. Food is served cafeteria style and devoured in a nice open dining area. There is also an outdoor bar that serves a multitude of beers. Definite worth a drive for a wonderful meal if you are anywhere within 30 minutes.
Stopped in and had lunch one day. We sat outside and ate, luckily the weather was perfect that day. Great view of West Broad St. They had a nice simple set up. The staff was friendly and answered our questions and were super helpful. The food was also delicious! We spent about $10 to $15 per person.
Every single item on the menu was incredible. The brisket is phenomenal. The bread pudding seriously made me tear up a little. The macaroni and cheese is a real roux cheese sauce that blows my mind. I cannot believe how good the food is. It is remarkably cheap for some of the best food I have ever had in my life. Eat here.
My wife and I are always looking for great bbq everywhere we travel.I must say we found some great bbq here we tried a little bit of almost everything the flavor is amazing with a good bit of smoke flavor. Also have great desserts we had the peach cobbler and bread pudding. It was definitely the best bbq we have tried recently. We also found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly and the atmosphere is really nice as well.
Had Saucehouse barbecue cater our corporate Thanksgiving luncheon for our employees and it was a overwhelming success. Food was delicious and everyone enjoyed it.
