Turkish cuisine with fresh breads in a space adorned with rugs, pillows & other regional decor.
Very clean with a nice atmosphere.. service was good in the food was delicious.
I love Turkish food and decided to try this one out because of its great reviews. I had the Doner Kebab and Chicken Shish Kebab as well as the Piyaz salad, and hummus and it came with a side of bread, and Baklava. In total, the food was $60 including tip. I never write a review but most of the items were so bad that the cost of the food did not justify their quality.Everyone was nice and the place was super clean and hospitable. However, when ate the food, the chicken was in big chunks on the platter with two kinds of rice. The chicken and the hummus had no flavor. The salad (and I love white beansfelt like you were eating just pieces of red onion. For it overpowered the salad and left very little room to flavor the parsley, diced peppers, and of course--the white beans. Although the bread accompanied the food, it had more of an appearance of focaccia bread than pita bread cut into chunks, not pie slice forms. I even inquired about the pita bread for my order and was assured it would be included. So the only item left for me to eat was the shredded Doner as it was the only flavorful item on my plate. I was so disappointed. This made me reconsider what authentic really means and that it is not meant to be synonymous with great. If you are in the mood for some great middle eastern food. These are other places I have tried this month: For quick pick-up, Aladdin Pizza. Dont let the name fool you. They had one of the best salads and Shish Kebobs. If you want a great sit down with amazing drinks, go to Midpoint Istanbul Fine Dining. The service is superb and the food is flavorful.Enjoy!
Ambiance is good, but not really enjoyable because noise alround, waiter was a lady she was too rude to us, all food charge too high less quantity. They took a good amount of gratitude charge also.
Awful experience ONLY due to owner questioning us regarding our food choices. He wasnt happy that not every single person ordered an entree, very rude and unable to listen to the customer. Never seen anyone so firm on telling his customers what they should order. Will not return.
I have been to Saray restaurant many times before. Today I wanted to finally write a review that reflects my years of patronage. Over the years the food has been great or good at the very least. However I always found the older lady with glasses very rude and moody as if she is bothered by doing her job.Today for labor day I decided to place a takeout order on the restaurant premises as the inside was very packed. When I placed the order, the same agitated older lady was there to take my order. She was annoyed while I placed my order. I spent 35 dollars on the zucchini patties and 2 chicken kofte wraps. After I placed the order, I went back inside my car to wait. When it was time to pickup, I decided to get a dessert of baklava. When I asked the annoyed older lady to get me an order of baklava to go, she looked bothered again. When she rang up the baklava, I pulled out my debit card and she said 10 dollar minimum. The baklava was just under 9 dollars. She said she would not do the transaction due to the low amount, mind you I had just paid 35 dollars for the food. If I already paid 35 dollars to you, show me courtesy to charge under 10 dollars especially since it was close to 9 dollars. As for the food, the food was unexpectedly horrible and bland. The chicken was not marinated and zucchini patty had a bitter aftertaste. I was disappointed by the whole scenario. After more than 5 years of being a customer, I have decided not to go back to Saray. I will try the turkish restaurant down the street unless they retrain the older lady with glasses on how to behave nicely in a customer service business. Not only is she rude but she also gives you bad facial expressions.
Very clean and in safe area. Wonderful Mediterranean health food just too much chopped bread in dishes. Deceptive.
Great food, restaurant is very clean and staff is super friendly.Always a nice place for beginners at Turkish cuisine.
Very delicious food, the service is awesome and the staff are so nice, they make you feel very comfortable and they are family oriented. Absolutely love this place.
We’ve frequented this restaurant for YEARS. Food is always excellent.Today the service was terrible - older lady at the register was extremely rude. Felt like we were bothering them by ordering.
An amazing experience! This is not your regular Middle Eastern restaurant; their food is delicious!
It was very neat n cleanIt was HalalStaff was friendly n welcomingFood was good by little expensive comparativelyI’m here all the way from Pakistan I made a Vlog aswell
I absolutely love this restaurant, everything is made fresh to order, the chicken yogurtlu shish is out of this world delicious. I crave there food and always want to go back. The service is kind and attentive. But most importantly the food is so so so good. From the bread, and dips to the main dishes and desserts everything is so good. Once we ordered something and it was not what we expected, we tried it but were not happy with it and the wait service removed it from our bill without question. Overall a great experience and a place I will return to again and again
After a long drive, I was super disappointed of the poor service and quality of food. I ordered for my kids French-Fries, and they served us with cold, old , smelly oily French fries in 140 degrees HOT porcelain plate. Server mentioned that they’re hot and be careful with kids. I picked one and was cold and elastic, oil smelled and tasted nasty. My poor kid start eating and i continued trying them and there were definitely OLD. I left immediately , the owner Sami tried to explain that it was a mistake and asked me to come back inside. Unfortunately, it was too late . And I can’t trust this place anymore. My kids have allergies and my wife is pregnant and I feel that if I stayed there we will be all sick . Matter fact after , 10 minutes my stomach start aching and I could not eat anything that evening. We are long term customer of Saray II in Springfield Ma. And this is huge surprise for us. We thought food quality and service will be the same ! It is not at ALL. I feel I have the duty to call health department and file a complaint against this place in West Haven. Cooking in old oil or serving customers and especially kids spoiled food is a crime.
The food was excellent. The staff here is exceptional. I would definitely go back here again.
We liked the food and the service we received. It was a little too loud in the restaurant for our taste, but most importantly I really don’t like when restaurants add automatic gratuity. Our server was kind enough to tell us it was added in our bill, but this is gratuity and by definition this should be left to the customer. We were happy with the service and was going to tip around 20% but it may have been a different experience. I don’t think it should ever be automatic.
Great place! Very clean and organized. Turkish food so delicious, tasty and healthy. All the time when I come back to New Haven Ill stop by for eat something, definitely!
We stopped here while on a road trip and the food was fantastic! We got a doner kebab sandwich and a chicken adana sandwich. The house bread was delicious and the meats were really good too! Service was quick and friendly. Its a quick easy stop off 95 and way better than any rest stop "food."
My native Turkish relatives say the food served at Saray is authentic to the taste of the country Turkey.I found the food delightful and fulfilling. The service was wonderful to a family a 4, consisting of 2 children, one toddler.
Love Turkish meals here!!
The food here is good, but this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. There is one blonde waitress with round black glasses who served us, and she is extremely rude. She throws down menus, food, and silverware on the table without even looking at us and talking to us. When we tell her "thank you" for bringing us things to the table she ignores us. When we asked about what an entree on the menu comes with as a side she was very mad at us for even asking. She treated us like we were a massive inconvenience to her personally, despite the fact that we were extremely polite and ordered $100 worth of food. At the end, she added a mandatory 18% gratuity to our bill. We knew that the menu said this mandatory 18% was only for parties of 5 or more, and we were a party of 2 only. When we told this to her, she tried to act like she made a mistake and told us that she confused our table with another table. This was a very obvious lie. She knew that we would not tip 18% on her awful customer service, so she had to try to sneak in a higher tip for herself. This woman is rude, dishonest, and disrespectful. If you want to eat the food here, respect yourself enough to only order it from GrubHub. Dont dine in, where the waiters will treat you like you are a piece of dirt.
Excellent plate shaworma! The meat was perfect
Very authentic food and I like the open kitchen and all the food display especially their desserts. It worth trying if you are first time.we always order their brozzini grill fish as it come with salad and the Doner platter...!!!
Nice restaurant. Enjoyed most of the food. We were a group of 5, and the meals didnt come together. The staff was very nice but they forgot some of the orders.. any way - it was OK! We enjoyed most of it. 4/5 seams fair and accurate!
It was an excellent experience. Clean and authentic ambiance with great professional staff.Met with the wait and waitress who helped us during our meal there and especially Thanks to Derya and Ulas. You won’t regret to have a visit if you have not been here.
The food is plentiful and delicious. I love the doner kebab. The cold appetizer plate with the basket of homemade bread is so good! I love Saray, and I cant wait to return. I gave 4 stars because service tends to be slow.
Great food and service. Since we moved to New Haven, Saray has been a regular spot for the whole family. Lahmacun, Adana, and Doner wrap are my favorites. Recently, we ordered for our on-call team at the hospital and it was a big hit, especially the “Sac Kebap” and the “Chocolate baklava”.Specifically, Derya & Ulaş are great servers and take GREAT care of us every time!
I really love the food here. The atmosphere is nice. I only wish the waitress was warmer. Very cold. Smile at your customers when they talk to you for crying out loud.
It was great. The Dana Kabab Sandwich was great and awesome for the price. Will be my place. The place was very clean. The staff very nice.
Every time I am in Wethersfield, CT my family and I driver ti Saray for dinner. Amazing service, amazing food, kids friendly place. I definitely recommend to anyone who wants to feel a little piece of Turkey 🇹🇷 right here in America.
The service was amazing and the food was delicious! Not only was the food delicious, but healthy and filling! The veggies were also super fresh! We had an appetizer with zucchini, an entree with shrimp and an entree with chicken and ended with the chocolate baklava, the rice pudding and the Turkish tea.
Never had a bad meal here , and the prices are good. If you havent tried it yet get here.
I am reluctant to rate Saray 5 stars only because I don’t want to share this hidden gem. The food is delicious and the service is better than expected. It is always a delight and our family comes here as often as we can as a treat. If you eat here once, you will be back.
The food is so delicious, the restaurant is nice and clean. The waiters are very polite.I loved the bread and the turkish tea. I wish I could go everyday...
Food is very good. Service also good.
Unfortunately felt quality and value were lacking. The only fresh prepared food was the bread which was very good. Six half empty trays of appetizer were $19 (see photo below). Meat dish was $30 and tasted precooked, overcooked, dry and tough. Staff was friendly and helpful. Place was clean. BYOB is a plus. Please note..I took photo after I ate one chunk of kebob.
Very nice people working there.... everywhere ...in the kitchen....even the customers...very good atmosphere...we loved it....!!!
Amazing Turkish restaurant with genuine Turkish food. Lahmacun, beyti and salad, deserts were amazing. I would come here again. Iskender was a bit of dissapointment, but still... white cloth clean tables, clean restrooms, friendly staff, free ample parking.
Really good Turkish grilled plates, salads and appetizers. Grilled beef is on the tougher side. Kofteh is great and so is the iskander kebab. Kunafeh was delicious and made per request. Clean. Lots of seating. Courteous and attentive staff.
The food is heavenly and thought it was busy on a week day, the service was ultra fast. I had the yogurt doner kebab and it was HEAVENLY. Big portion and full of flavors. The turkish tea was great and the desserts were to die for. Ambience is awesome and the hot bread with butter they serve before the food is epic. Highly recommended. Worth driving too if you live within an hour
Not so tasty food and my bread even had fungus. I ordered a lot of food started eating and in between I noticed the fungus on my bread. The person serving still insisted saying “do you wanna eat that?” I was like really? And then they told me that they’ll give me another dish and brought just the kebabs. So disappointing
I spent 3 years in Turkey pre-Ergodan working and I really enjoyed the food, especially the Iskender.....it was almost like I was in Bursa with Chef Efendi making it when I ordered it at Saray. It even had the grilled green pepper and tomatoes that make it taste that much better. Started it off with Lentil soup and finished with Sutlac for dessert. Sad no Tuborg or Efes , but no alcohol there. Brought a friend from work who ordered food to go he liked it so much. Will eat here as much as possible.
You are treated like royalty. Try the eggplant appetizer with the bread basket. I had the lamb and it was amazing. If you drink pepsi get a can not a fountain. Like Indian cuisine you can order mild to fire hot. If you have nut allergies it will limit your choices. Bathroom had the nicest sink Ive ever seen
Great service with delicious foods!Tried several different plates, and all were good. Some suggestions, try "Grill mixed meat", "Cold platter appetizer, large", which are great to be shared between 2 (and maybe 3 if not too hard ngrypeople. This place never disappointed me. Please keep up the great work!
Very warm welcoming hostess and host. They have a spread of different desserts. I tried the kunefe which is a cheese layered with crispy vermicelli topped with dry nuts.Overall its great.
Delicious food. Worth coming here just for the bread. I did not get a picture of the bread because I was too busy eating the bread. I had the Chicken Pirzola, and it was very yummy. The baklava is divine, be sure to get that too! They dont have a lunch menu here, and the portions are pretty generous, so I would recommend it for dinner over lunch.
Its a beautiful restaurant with very attentive staff. Our waters stayed full. The food presentation is excellent, and it tastes just as good. There are lots of healthy food options. The portions are great for the price. I would definitely recommend Saray to others and will be returning myself soon.
Best Turkish restaurant around CT. Great food, excellent staff, delicious recipes! Price is right, especially with dinner specials. Large portions, complimentary starters (right out from the oven pita, butter/olive oil, teafast service. If you’re into Mediterranean food, or Turkish cuisine, you better visit Saray!
Awesome food. Good portions. We ordered Grilled mixed chicken, adana kebab, yogurt shish kebab, falafel diner and doner kebab. Their dinner specials are also amazing. Everything tasted very different and the mixed grill chicken had all the different flavors. Highly recommended. Their fresh breads to start with are yummy with butter. They have option of BYOB.
Totally surprised by the size of this restaurant! What a busy bee hive with so many families in attendance this weekend. The wait team has been quick and helpful and made for a great first experience. The food did not disappoint either. It was nice to know there is a $19.95 special that includes an appetizer and dessert. Conveniently located off of exit 43 on 95 South. Will return.
We found this place via google search. The food and service was amazing. Super clean and very nice air conditioning. The server was very polite and checked on us often. We started with lentil soup and super delicious fresh baked bread. My wife had a falafel appetizer and Turkish feta sigara boregi pastries for her main meal. I had the lamb flatbread appetizer and the mixed chicken combo plate that had a lot of flavor. Of course I ordered too much and have a decent amount of leftovers. We HIGHLY suggest going out of your way to dine at Saray Turkish Restaurant.
