Nepalese restaurant with partial bar service & modest decor with bare tables & string lights.
Sapana Home in Jumla
Description
Privilege
Tried the samosa chaat. Not great but not bad. Will go back for momos and chow mein, after confirming its vegetarian.
MoreAuthentic. Delicious 🤤
Best authentic Nepalese food I have in the UK. Staying in Nepal over two months in 2015 and loved their street food. Having the food from Sapana Home recalls my memory in Nepal!
MoreI regularly order food from them, Nepali tea is so tasty its got fragrance of sweet potato and their noodles, you could compare it to the world famous noodles from Penang, Malaysia!
MoreFood are nice, very interesting to explore the menu and really good value for money.
MoreAuthentic Nepali cuisine in Reading at pocket friendly price. Friendly and Family oriented atmosphere. Would lovs to visit again to try out some more dishes!Recommendation : Chicken Chowmin, Veg / Chicken Steamed Momo, Jhol Jhol Momo.
MoreWent out for a dinner with family. Delicious food. Service was average as there was only one waitress but her attitude was so kind and polite. A wide Nepali menu especially I like fried rice and veg Thukpa. Average price 7-8 pounds per dish. Simple ambience with seating arrangement at ground floor and in the basement. Maintained but space is bit crunch. Still, its Worthfull to try authentic Nepali cuisine at least once . Highly recommended!
MoreHygiene is an issue, we ordered the momos, the lady at the counter was managing the counter and at the same time making momos. She then gets up to tidy up the table, wipes with blue cloth and then goes back to the counter to make momos without washing hands. I felt Sick with the handling of food. Cancelled my order she was reluctant but told her I saw what you were doing so she gave the refund. Dont think they care about hygiene.
MoreSmall but nice place. Authentic Nepalese cousine food..tried momos and thukpa and those were really good and tasty.
MorePoor Presentation - we ordered our 1st and the last dish- vegetarian momos. our food was presented worse than you would serve to anyone. Just Thrown into the plate! Oh and The presentation depends if you are Nepalese (both the tables next were served with good presentation). So a racist behaviour as well what we observed.Poor Hygiene - starting from floors to tables including highchair, it was filthy. The taste of the only food we ordered was nice but the overall experience spoilt it and we just left the place and ate somewhere else. So 1 star for the chef thats it.
MoreService pathetic. Took 1.5 hours to serve not ready to clear table after food done. Even to serve a coke took so long that got up and picked by self. People seated next table paid and left in between
MoreGreat food. Shame about the miserable lady at the counter who is only nice to other Nepalese people. She makes an extra effort to be miserable and extra arrogant to Indians who visit and admire the food however. Have been coming here for years and am truly fed up with this behaviour of this individual.
MoreAuthentic home style nepalese food. This is a hidden gem of Reading, very relaxed place to eat great food for low prices
MoreI can say the best nepali food i have ever had till date. The food is simply awesome and the price was decent as well. I would defo recommend this place if you are looking to eat authentic Nepali food.
MoreSo we ordered fried momos and noodlesAnd their fried momos were delicious
We have been to this restaurant one too many times and absolutely love their food. But my biggest disappointment is service. The service is very bad, at time you dont even get water for 10 minutes after you asked for it. They really should improve upon their service aspect. Its really shame that even though they have delicious food, I feel like giving low rating only because of service.
MoreSmall and cosy, felt like I was being cooked for by a Nepalese family, which probably isnt far from the truth. Highly recommend, the food was delicious.
MoreJumped in here at 9pm last night, told closing in 30 mins, no issues with our order of Siu Mai Chinese Pork dumpling balls, Deep fried Chicken Momo with satay sauce dip, Chicken Chow mein, Chilli Momo and Basmati rice with Wine and a beer. Absolutely spot on. Just an explosion of flavours for less than £30.Left a tenner tip as so pleased.Polite and helpful staff who accommodated us at the last minute. Loved it here..well be regulars now for sure.
MoreDelicious, authentic Nepalese food with a cosy atmosphere. Great price for the quality you get! Would 100% come here again, wish we had a place like this where we live!
MoreThe best Nepalese food restaurant in Reading. Genuine and quality Nepalese food at a super price. Anytime I am around Reading, I stop by Sapana. Its one of the greatest gems of Reading. My favs: chicken or veg momo, chicken chow mein, buffalo sukuti, sel roti and chai.
MoreAwesome food ..mainly jhol jhol momo or thukpa and hakka chowmin was delicious ..strongly recommended..reasonable price
MoreThe little kid who is at the counter maybe the one who serves as a waiter is super rude. He should learn customer service. Food is good here but we can make good food at home too. People go to a restaurant for an overall experience. And hence I give 1 star. He doesnt know how to talk.
MoreJust found the most amazing Nepalese cafe in Reading. The Thaali (I had the Veg curry and green lentil optionis just stunning...........authentic, rural and homely. The Roti was so freshly made it was to hot to pick up. What more could you ask for?
MoreHands down the best food Ive ever had. Everything Ive ordered has been nothing short of amazing. Highly recommend!Thank you for changing my life
MoreI felt i should have tried this place before. They serve some most authentic Nepali food. Will definitely visit it again.
MoreAmazing cosy atmosphere restaurant located in Reading City Centre serving authentic Nepalese and Indian food at a reasonable price . They do Nepalese liquor as well. We loved the Selroti set . Planning to go there again when visiting Reading next time .
MoreI would like to share some info aboutSapana Home, It was one of the restaurants where we used to regularly order from. Slightly famous for its Momos. We were shocked to know that their Vegetarian Momos,!Vegetarian Chowmein & Veg Thupka contains Non-Vegetarian (Chicken Contentswhen enquired about its ingredients. And surprisingly they cannot prepare Vegetarian Momos without it - this was hard for me to believe!!Being a vegetarian, I will be relectunat to order from this place again as I never had meat in my life.
MoreThe staff are friendly and professional. Food is tasty and good value, cooked as though it is made by your grandma (in a good way, home cooked meal vibes). Great addition to the centre and providing more variety to choose from. Independently and family run business - so support your locals during these times and give it a try.
MoreVery impressed with the quality and the sizes of portions. The venue felt a bit cramped however, when seated in the basement area. The selection of food was a nice variety of authentic dishes and Asian fusion cuisine.
MoreOrdered parantha and chicken thali, jhol momos and poori tarkari. Nothing was good tasting. Even though the price was as high as what a better ambience restaurant woild charge but the quality and taste of food was not at all good. Wont visit again
MoreAmazing food with amazing value for money! Glad I live in the area of SH, where they offer such great menu selection. This is in town centre so very convenient as well. Staff are friendly and food reminds me of back home Nepal. Keep up the great work you all!
MoreI was there for momos and they didnt disappointed me. Its quite well known restaurant to a particular community and thats its customer base. Therefore, it is very busy during evenings and weekends. People come here to have a authentic taste of food they use to reminisce and just as expected some make you happy, some dont. There are lots of variety of Nepalese food most sought after ones- momos, chow mein (Nepali styleand almost everything that you remember of. Be aware, despite their efficiency serving may be late, of course, its not fast food! The ambience is ok, it not superb but makes you feel cozy. Staffs were friendly and helpful. For some the bar is along with a wash basin and next to the toilet, may be not a good combination.Go and check out whether Sapana Home fulfills your dreams or it happens to be a dreadful dream😜.Enjoy.
MoreGreat food as always (delicious and full of flavour). The portions are rather decent as well and prices are good value for money. Service can be a bit slow at times.
MoreHad "Puri Tarkari" at "Sapana Home" at Reading on 19-Nov-2019. It tasted very home like. Quick service. Good value meal.
MoreLovely restaurant, fresh food, excellent mix of flavours. Very good service and accommodating to dietary needs. Will be visiting again!
MoreIve spent time in Nepal and this place is totally authentic. The food is always good and very reasonable price. Highly recommend if you like Nepalese cuisine or are curious to try it.
MoreThe food here is amazing. I had the thukpa with momo soup with pork dumplings. I asked for medium spice and it was just enough, any more would be lethal.
MoreI have little experience of Nepalese food so no idea if it is authentic. Lost a star because I had to wait ages for my takeaway and then they gave me the wrong dish but as I was new to all of it, I was happy to try the one they gave me (Jholi Momo - pork). The service seems a bit curt but I think thats just the language barrier. I quickly forgave them everything as the food was piping hot, so I suspect cooked to order (hence the long waitand it tasted fresh and frankly delicious! I would go again but perhaps order before I get there next time!
MoreExcellent, authentic Nepalese food. I had the Thali with salmon curry - each little portion had a tonne of flavour. It was spicy but not excessively so. The portions were on the small side but I anticipated that so a cheeky extra piratha sorted me out! The other thing to note is the prices which are very reasonable - youll eat really well for £15.
MoreConsistently amazing food, and great atmosphere. This time I went for the jhol thukpa with momo, a recent addition to the menu. Love it!
MoreGood Nepalese food, though the service is average. It took quite a lot of time for the food to arrive. I requested for water which never arrived
MoreWe were traveling long distance and decided to take a short break at Reading for supper. The best rated restaurant close by was Sapana. And having eaten loads of Nepalese food in Malaysia, I was very happy to dig into some more. This place turned out to be as good as its rating suggests. Great food, very good prices and the perfect balance of spices that is so important in food from the Indian subcontinent.
MoreLovely Nepalese restaurant with some great food. The noodles are fantastic, the people are friendly and its a nice quiet environment where you can easily hold a conversation with the people youre eating with. Would definitely recommend.
MoreGreat value for money. Super tasty food! We had buffalo momos and they were delicious! ☺️
MoreVery Authentic Nepali restaurant. The most unique menu I have come across. Felt service was warm as well. If you are looking for quick nice meal its the place.
MoreGreat food. Authentic Nepali cuisine. Must have the momos (steamed dumplings). We have been here a few times now and brought people who otherwise discounted Sapna Home because of the location and because Nepali food is not as common as Indian food. The food is actually very similar to Indian food and full of flavours. You must visit this place if you enjoy experimenting with food. You wont be disappointed.
MoreIf you are an Asian and craving for some spicy and tasty food and also if you want to have a good Chinese cuisine this place is a must visit.
MoreMomos are top notch! Try the Johl momos: it’s a slightly spiced stewed tomato soup with your choice of momo(dumpling with filling(chicken, pork, veg, water buffalo), this is then topped wth crunchy red onions and garnished with cilantro (coriander leaves). It’s hearty, Moorish and very filling on a cold winters day! The dumplings are cooked well, they are chewy and delish!!
MoreI give 5 stars to the food! It is just simply awesome, the first time that I have tried Nepalese food, I would recommend to try this place to everyone who likes to try new kind of food, the menu has pictures of everything so you know exactly what you order, what we most like was the plate with chickpeas, yogurt, fried noodles... Just awesome (I cant remember the name, I have uploaded the pictureI give 4 stars because the decoration of the restaurant could improve a lot.
MoreA hidden gem in Reading! Delicious authentic food, friendly staff & affordable prices.
