Water park has tube slides, a lazy river & a jumbo wave pool, plus kiddie rides, go-karts & buffets.
This is a great water park located on the Monongahela River. Its got fast slides and slow slides, a lazy river, lots of bad food 😂 and its a great way to "waste" a day having fun! Whenever I go, I feel like I turn into a kid again, running up the ramps to go sliding down again.
Spent well over $150 on online tickets and $40 for parking for the family. Get there the lazy river was closed, we specifically drove 1 hour and 30 minutes just for that so my 1 year old could enjoy and we could all relax. Nothing was ever advertised about it being closed. Got right there at opening and the pools were filthy and nothing was kept nice or clean. Absolutely disappointed will not be returning and taking our money somewhere else.
Ok so I personally didn’t enjoy my time there while we where there four rides where down the whole day, there was geese sh!t everywhere, the tickets where 50 dollar per person and parking was 15 that’s 65$ for one person! There was also extremely high prices and we managed to get charged double almost triple just getting icees , the rides where not that exciting tbh , the restrooms where disgusting and probably worst of all was that there was a dead mole in the wave pool. Overall I feel I need to shower it was not good and would not go back
Very nice water park, many slides and different attractions. Good place to spend the day with family. Food was priced fairly and you get free refills with the sandcastle cups. There is a pool next to a grassy area that overlooks the river that is good for taking pictures or tanning in the sun. Some of the lines can be longer which causes a wait time.
Horribly disappointed. Literally half the water slides were not open at all and the lazy river was closed then only one slide of tuba Luba was open so you had to wait an hour in line with only one out of 2 of same slide open you have to wait twice as long in line. Park closes at 6 but they shut down wave pool and most of there slides at 5. The layout was very nice and the water was very clean but it was not worth my 2 hour drive there so I think all that was closed should have been posted the night before so people like me do not feel like they are wasting there time but even when we got there the only sign they had up was thst the lazy river was closed for the day.
We havent been here in 15 years. Poor management and decisions by big corporate has lead this once shining spot along the river to a end up a dated commercialized dump that at its best is just meh.... So sad! No customer service, expect 10 to 20 pecent of the atrractions wi will be closed or wont open during your visit. Sad how disqusting this place has become. Sad to say but save your money and go somewhere else this place is not what it once was.
Got here mid day. Half the rides were closed... Within 3 hours we managed to ride 2 slides. An hour until closing the wave pool closed, body slides closed, one of the tube slides closed.and 30 min until closing all ride are chained off and denied access. Complete waste of money. Highly recommend you find another park if you actually want more than an overcrowded pool. Disappointing experience, will never spend another penny here.....
Great family place. We all had a blast. Slides are so much fun, great choice of eating places on Boardwalk, plenty of seating. Definitely want to go back.
Do you want a water park because this is a water park! Big pool! Little pool! Wave pool! Some slides! Theres beer and waffle fries and popcorn too.Jokes aside this is exactly what I expect and thats a good thing.
Pay for passes and everything is always closed. The place was a huge waste of money this year. The company has absolutely no customer service. They really just dont care...Then they respond with this...The lazy rivers been closed more days than not. Way before kids had to go back to school...and thank u for this response. It shows the lack of customer service 🤣 and just reiterates that you dont care . I have emailed before with no response so theres that. Also most of the good reviews are from people who do that for a living which is why they orange stars by their name. Local guides
This is the worst waterpark I have ever been. I felt scammed in everything I had to do there. First you pay really expensive for the ticket, then when you get there you see the sign saying they are short-staffed because many of their employees are back to school and for this reason we experienced even longer lines, not to mention one of their main attractions was not open to the public at all. What about paying fair salaries so they don’t have only students working for them? You pay $60 for the ticket + $15 to park + $10 to rent a locker - in case you have only a few things in your backpack. Cause if you have 3 normal towels for your family, then you need to get the more expensive lockers. And the worst to me was that, even having to pay extra for everything, their water fountains were not working. So, if the water you brought from home is over, you need to go through long lines in order to buy some water. I imagine they don’t have money enough to keep their water fountains working! I really don’t plan coming back to this park!
Its always really busy, the three times I have been there half the slides were shut down the lines are really long and take forever, which sucks because you end up burning your feet on the stairs to go up and as youre standing there waiting. Honestly I would just suggest going on a cloudy day that theyre calling for rain lol
The lazy river was closed and all of the pools were not heated. It was extremely overpriced and a rip off. It is definitely not worth the money. They wouldn’t even offer discount for the lazy river being closed the day we went which was a Saturday in the middle of summer. Save your money and go to pool instead!
Decent park, but whos bright idea was it to have a dj play at the same time other music is blasting out of the speakers? Sitting by the wave pool you hear both at the same time and its irritating while youre trying to relax. The lazy river hasnt been open a single time Ive come this year and its the main reason I come. Also overheard a worker complain that theres "too many people here" as she walked through the crowd. When the park wasnt even busy at all.Why does the park close so early this year? 5pm cut off time during the week and 6 on weekends is wild.
PLEASEEEE, for the love of god, open wet willies entrance next year, pleaseee. It would be smart to make that entrance only for people that have season passes & pre bought tickets. Then you would really only need one person standing there to scan tickets, and one person to check a bag. That entrance is so much better, as all of the slides are right there, and the kids area. For people that don’t drive, it’s so annoying walking all the way to the back entrance. If you’re spending most of your day at that end, you can’t just exit right there. The new paint jobs look awesome though, and the little photo areas are very cute. For tue most part, the park has been very clean all season, which is awesome. It would be so great to get a lazy river refurbish in the next couple years. Every other lazy river at water parks (even idle wild), have fun little extras on the route.
Small but fun family Waterpark. Always clean and well kept. One issue that needs major improvement is the enforcement of the smoking policy. Too many guests smoke anywhere they damn well please rather than the designated smoking area just a short walk away.
This was my first time at Sandcastle after 2 years, and unfortunately I was somewhat disappointed. The price has almost doubled from a few years ago, and the only new attraction was a new slide that was closed the entire day. The refill station was very nice. Lines were okay, wish Cliffhangers was open though. In the afternoon there was some rain and they closed the entire park, which we were told was because of lightning. It was supposed to open back up in 30 minutes, as the rain had stopped and the sun came out. However, 2 whole hours had passed before the wave pool opened, then another 30 minutes for the slides. They said it was due to inclement weather in the area, but it was sunny and the storm had passed hours ago. But other than that, the water park was fun and the rides were great. I wish they still stayed open until 6, as they closed at 5 today. They also close the slides 15-20 minutes prior to close, so make sure you don’t wait until the last minute. Overall it was a decent experience, just not worth the outrageous price.
Today is the first time I’ve been here in two years. I have had multiple season passes, thrown parties and brought many people here with me over the years. Today counts 3 people that haven’t been here before I brought them with me. Anyways I tried the new Bombs Away burger. It was very good, cheese curds we’re a little mangled. Flo was very kind and accommodating. So shout out to Flo! The new slide that It’s named after was unfortunately not open. Neither was the lazy River or Cliffhangers. I would pull the plug on the kids frog pad pool and open lazy River at least. Idk When I pay to come here after driving from an hour away on a day with less than perfect weather to get here to things being half operational, I’m disappointed. But at least my friends are enjoying themselves. I hope the next time I visit things are more enjoyable for me. I hope it does rain and close because I would much rather try to come back on another day this month and get the full experience of Sandcastle and why it’s my favorite place in Pittsburgh.
If you don’t care about cleanliness then you’ll love it here. The bathroom by the wave pool was one of the worst bathrooms I’ve ever seen in a water park. But I did what I needed and got out thinking well if that’s all that’s an issue it will be a great day. Nope not the case. The lazy river had so much grass, wood shavings, and bark in it that I wouldn’t get in it. If you like to drink Alcohol I would prepare to spend a hundred bucks just on drinks. I got a frozen already made margarita and my husband got a can of cheap beer but it was almost $30!! Last thing the smoking section is right beside one of the pools and it was non stop. Always someone smoking. Why not move it to a spot that people and their children aren’t sitting. Now for the good. There were no lines! We only had to wait about 10 minutes on one slide. The others we just walked right up to the slide. There were tons of chairs so. We didn’t have to play musical chairs. So to sum it up we won’t be going back. For the price of admission to this tiny dirty park we could have gone to Hershey or Kings Dominion. Heck we could have spent a little more and went to Cedar Point. We love Kennywood so we were hopeful Sandcastle would be just as great. But that was not the case at all. If your looking for a fun family day trip I’d recommend going to a bigger park for the same price.
Plenty of things to do for all ages! There is a giant lazy river and tons of fun slides for adults with higher thrill levels. Food options are a little limited but are fairly good quality for fast food.
Update with an actual message. While I love coming here, I feel like they should put water misters on the pathways going to the slides. Or build some type of cover to try and keep the walkways from becoming crazy hot and risking burning feet
It sucked...couldnt even get a tube to go down water slides I wanted to go on cause everybody kept keeping them and going again, also the new ride I was excited for wasnt working,Everything high priced and took forever to get a funnel cake... people just got on my nerves , bottom line !! Wouldnt recommend....
Sandcastle still needs some love and new attractions after years of neglect, but the changes and improvements made over the past couple of years are great to see. More rides are open — I loved to see that Cliffhangers is back in service. The food is better. The new paint, theming, signage, and bands make for a more vibrant atmosphere. Now we just need some new slides to bring the park to the 21st century. A tornado, mat racer, or (dare I saywater coaster would definitely increase the number of times I visit each year!
first time & kind of a let down..newest water slide shut down & only like 5 others, small wave pool & short lazy river.just 2 of us spent $160 before even touching water. even after getting online only deal of 34.99/ea..ran by overwhelmed kids everywhere for anything u wanted.small time park at big park prices & hassle.
Awesome water park in the Pittsburgh region. Not far from the city but you could get there easily from i376. Weekends are usually very crowded so having a plan on what to do or ride before you visit would help a lot. The slides are rated by thrill level and all rides were great. I didnt have much time to go ride om all of them. While some are solo rides, the couple/double rides are something to try for a joint experience. I wish they had fast pass to skip the lines to reduce wait times. The food options are okay but they are on the expensive side. The locker options are limited in the sense that they will be sold out within the first 30min to 1hr from opening time, especially on weekends. The changing rooms can require some frequent cleaning. Overall, the wave pool, kids pool and the rides were great. Ill definitely recommend going here if you enjoy water rides.
We went here for my husbands birthday and had alot of fun! Loved the dragon slide, the wave pool and the single/double rider tube slide! Did not like tho when I was told to take off my WATER shoes and hold them in my hands while going down the slides. I was never asked on the first 3 times down it until my 4th time. Seems really unsafe going down a slide not even holding on to your tube so you dont fall off just to hold onto shoes that are specifically made for water and swimming!! That definitely dampened the fun!! If water shoes are such a problem there should be a sign posted when entering at the front gate and you shouldnt sell them inside your gift shop for people to wear!!
Sandcastle is one of the closest waterparks to us within a couple hours of driving. Its easy for us to go there, but we would rather drive a couple hours and go to another one next time. We went on a weekend and it was a lot of fun, however they must have been under staffed because some rides were closed, only one of the two same slides were opened, and the lines were very long! However,, we really enjoyed the 2 new rides, bombs away and dragons den, but we were not happy with how under staffed it seemed for a $50 ticket price.
Got there 15 minutes before opening gave us plenty of time to get on all the rides without any weight. Was a very calm and fun atmosphere no chaos anywhere. The only downfall was the food is very very expensive.
I really just want to give a shout out to the employee who was handing out cups of water to those of us who were waiting in line yesterday (7/23at the Potato Patch. I didn’t catch his name so I don’t know who he was but thank you for looking out for our well-being and keeping us hydrated on such a hot day!
Im a breastfeeding mom and I called ahead to find out if they have any mothering rooms and the lady on the phone said I could use the public bathroom. I really wish family friendly parks like this were truly family friendly and made accommodations, especially when so many stores, restaurants and facilities have mothering rooms these days.
Up until today I can honestly say I have enjoyed myself at this water park. With the new hours of 5 pm closing during the week Sunday thru Thursday and 6 on Friday and Saturday I am upset. I come after 3 pm and now with my pass can spend 1-2 hours in a day. Many people try to spend some down time after work but if you get off at 4 you won’t make it to Sandcastle in time. Summer park with winter hours. Unless management makes better customer friendly decisions I highly recommend do not buy passes to this water park.
We got Platinum Season Passes and it has been well worth the money. My son and his friends have been having a great summer. Theres only a couple times we waited a little long for a slide, but all in all there was plenty of fun to be had.
Had a great time, very fun slides. Good food and great pools including a wave pool, but though they could use some more umbrellas or places for a shady place to hide from the sun from time to time.
Super fun family place. If you plan to go more than once, it pays to get a season pass. Have the driver get a high enough pass to get the free parking, but the rest of the family can get the second from the bottom pass. The bottom most pass has black out dates, the next level up costs only $10 more and does NOT have black out dates.
We went July 3 for the first time. It was for something fun to do for my daughters birthday. We are about 80 minutes North. We had a GREAT time. Got there around 11 and left around 7. Lots of fun things to do. We LOVED the Devils Den. Only downfall is prices and bathrooms IMO. Prices seemed rather high for a family activity. Its not Cedar Point or Disney. With admission being more than $50 per person, parking should be included or only $5. Also food/alcohol was a bit overpriced for what you get. It was prices youd pay at a rock concert instead of a family venue. You are allowed to bring a very limited amount of food in like 1 20oz water or pop, fruit, a snack size of chips and a sandwich per their sign at the entrance. Their water fountains were turned off??!! Corn dog was $9.99!! Small dessert from Ritas was nearly $8. I kept telling myself I was on vacation. The three of us (my husband, my daughter and Iall went to Waldamere in Erie last year and for their admission of $47 for the combo we had use of the water park AND the amusement park and free parking, plus picnicing is encouraged. Bathrooms should be checked every hour. They were kinda gross. We did have a great time though and if we lived closer we would probably get a package since that does seem like a better deal...
My Family and I had a Great Time at Sandcastle! Weve been there twice this month so far and we plan on going again sometime soon.Although, This past Saturday, 6/25 they closed the Lazy River at 6:15pm when the whole place isnt supposed to close until 7pm. Not sure why or what happened to make them do that but there were a lot of people who were upset about that.My family & I really enjoyed our time at Sandcastle!!!
Nice place to water slide, expensive. Amusement parks have got to stop having their workers bob their heads around like lunes while looking for people in the water. On the lazy river, just watch the workers and what they have to do. Heads always on a swivel. Ridiculous. Owners or managers should receive jail time for making them do that.
We are learning our way Sandcastle as my kids get older and are outgrowing Soak Zone. We really like Sandcastle but I have a few suggestions on how to make it more disability friendly. I have a disabled teen and its a bit difficult to navigate. I hope to speak with management about that. That being said, it is a beautiful park with lots of slide and pool choices for all ages. The park is clean and there is lots of seating. We havent had food yet but we love to use the drink refill stations! You can bring your own food, which is great. There is ample parking but when super busy, the handicapped parking is sometimes full, which again presents a problem for someone in a wheelchair. So far the staff is friendly but did not know how to direct someone in a wheelchair on where to go to get to certain rides. Thank you for an overall lovely experience.
Its a beautiful local water park
One of the nicest water parks I have ever seen.
More than half of the park is still under construction on opening day. I was excited to surprise my sister with tickets to sandcastle. This was our first time at the park. When we entered, we found 8 attractions closed. We waited 45 minutes in line to go down a single slide (I timed it). Two slides were open and two pools. I normally dont complain, but the park should have given notice it was still under construction. We also paid for parking online, when parking was free. Also a $15 locker, which was not refunded. We would have went to kennywood instead. When I mentioned this to guest services, the manager (Scottdidnt take the time to talk with us at all. This will be the experience I tell everyone who asks how my weekend at sandcastle with my sister went.
Had a great day!We paid $10 for parking and another $10 for locker, you can take your snacks with you.
Was a nice place for the family. The kiddieland was closed but the kids still had a good time. Social distancing was great and they have guidelines in place to make you feel safe. Lots to do for the whole family.
With everything going on with the virus, I was extremely impressed with the experience I had at this water park. They were allowing 25% daily capacity, so it was extremely easy to get on the water slides/rides with very little wait. The staff was also sanitizing the tubes nonstop the entire day and they had sanitizer stations throughout. The rides/slides themselves were the best that I’ve experienced at any water park. They also had more food and dessert stands than I expected for a water park. My brother and I also had an amazing experience with their customer service on the phone as well as at the park when we had a question about our tickets. This park also offers amenities if there’s bad weather interfering as well as daily specials. The icing on the cake was when I just went to go rinse off my shoes in their bathroom shower area and found they had really nice, clean private showers like you would find at home. I was blown away by my entire experience there. It was worth the 2.5 hr drive from Ohio for the day!
Has not been crowded this year depending on the weather. They just instituted a policy of wearing a mask if not swimming or on slides. This was due to new guidelines and is totally stupid since the nearest person was over 30 feet away.
It was a great day with family. The lines were long for the slides but thats to be expected. Food and drinks are over priced but parking and locker rental was decently priced. We will definitely go back!!
Sandcastle prices are a bit high $37 regular price and if you are only going there for the wave pool - stop and go to Settlers Cabin or North Parks Wave Pool instead it will only cost you $8. But if you are making use of all the water slides then yes the price is good! Their lazy rivers has been closed since Jan. 2019 to current July when I was there in which I was looking forward to going on. I asked a guard and he told me it was closed due to flooding earlier and they havent been able to get the mud out of the pipes. Another nice water park would be Idlewild Park they have a small amusement park, Storybook Forest and Soak Zone. Thats 3 parks for the price of one. Nice park to walk around too!
Nice place! I enjoyed my birthday there. It is a small park, and the food is expensive, but this water park offers a lot of slides and pools. Its the only water park within a 100-mile radius (next one is Splash Lagoon in Erie, PA, 2 hours away). I slightly prefer Splash Lagoon since thats an indoor park, they have thriller rides and you can visit there 24/7. But Sandcastle is closer to home, and they have way more slides than splash lagoon. So weight your preferences before you visit.
Great time! Cant wait to buy our season passes again for next year! We love all the choices for where we want to spend time; my older kids can go on water slides and my younger kids can play at wet willies play area. We love the wave pool and the lazy river also! "Doc popcorn" is THE BEST popcorn!
Its a good place for the whole family! I felt a little bit bad for my five year old, hes sort of between the kiddie things and all the slides (in interest and height). Also, the best kiddie area (Wet Williesis pretty removed from everything else, so that can make logistics a little challenging when your 10 year old wants to do all the slides. It is a really fun day for either really little kids or bigger (late elementary and upkids but is lacking in options for kids in between those categories.
