Langstrasse 231, 8005 Zürich, Switzerland, Zürich (Kreis 12)
Informal restaurant with a veggie pay-by-weight buffet, including fake meat dishes, plus a la carte.
Phenomenal vegan cheese fondue! Im still shocked at the taste, texture, creaminess, etc. Im vegan and I know vegan cheese can still be very hit or miss but this was so good! A must try for everyone really. The workers were also lovely. No complaints at all. Highly recommended for a great vegan version of a swiss classic! They have the one classic vegan cheese fondue base in 6 different variations including plain, herb, sausage, chili, and two others. I got the herbs version with half the herbs with a white mulled wine to drink (hot spiced wine)
Great find! The food is fresh, tasty and creatively presented. The carribean fusion and a vegan concept are well mastered
Outstanding cuisine and staff. After being vegan for more than 10 years this is the best restaurant that I know. They usually serve plant-based versions of traditional dishes such as fondue, Gulasch, Tiroler Semmelknödel and so on - Stuff that is impossible to find in decent quality anywhere else.
Tasty vegan food, but small portions and very very slow service.
I have been here before for cheap food by toogoodtogo. I got pasta, potato wedges, some carrot and eggplant. I am not vegetarian and i am not a picky eater. The taste is quite good but not super good.
We waited a long time, prices are high, service is unfriendly (apart from one woman working there), food was strange
Wonderful vegetarian restaurant with a very artistic inner design. There is vegetarian buffet (mostly veganwith a vegan menu. One could combine the buffet and the menu. Food is very delicious. The atmosphere very cozy.
Absolutely brilliant!A must go if your visiting Zurich as a Vegan.
The menu was short and sweet, and I chose the option that sounded the best to me which was pleasantly surprising (only caveat was the portion size was huge), but overall it was a great take on the dish. We ended the meal with some delicious chocolate mousse, which was the perfect way to end the night.
Haven`t visited the restaurant yet cause I`m not in Zurich that often. But you need to try the vegan fondue alternative! It`s absolutely awesome and soooo tasty! Very good job!! You can also order it online at foodathome.ch or buy in plastic free at the bulk store OHNI in Thun
Very nice friendly staff. Service could be a bit faster in the beginning but once they come to the table it all goes swimmingly from there on.Lobed the recommendations.
Had the veggie burger and veggie lasagna, both with seasonal ingredients. Delicious and excellent service!
Absoluty excellent vegan restaurant in Zürich. 100% recommended
Very nice people and delicious food, worth visiting!
One of the best restaurants Ive ever been to, period. Not just compared to vegetarians restaurants, to all restaurants. The staff was amazing The atmosphere was intimate, with class but was not pompous. If you can, go there, it really us lovely. But reserve a table, it was pretty crowded, though with good reason!!!
Staff is sooo lovely and attentive, food deliciousUpdate 17.1.19: Again felt so welcomed and treated individually in big town Zürich. They have a small card and you should make a reservation before but its worth it!
One of the best vegan/vegetarian place Ive been to. I live in Zurich since a few years and this is the place to go if you want a have a good lunch/dinner with friends/family/date in a relaxed athmosphere. Prices are reasonable for Zurich, if you consider the costs they have for this location and the service they offer. They change the menu accordingly to the season, I love it. Everything tastes amazing.Book a table in advance! ( they always acomodate you something if you dont, though.)
Good veggie food, buffet model over lunch. Enjoy the meat free and carbon friendly bite 😉
Loved it! There is a small but well varied selection of dishes at the buffet. You can also order a-la-card. But what I liked the most is the family-like atmosphere. The waiters knew so many names of customers and the owner talked a little to us. Can only recommend and will go again!
I had Milanzane, which was kind of a fried aubergine. Very simple veggie food ... u could not wow me 🙁
What a lovely little place tucked away on a busy street. We found this restaurant under local restaurant recommendations on facebook that showcased their special burger menu. We were lucky to have met and spoken to the owner.. a very friendly and charming lady. We ordered their homemade ice tea (with no sugar or black teaand a ginger honey ice tea. Both were fabulous! Then came the mains.. I was for once spoilt for choice and so, I was given a sampler of the patties to try. We ordered the Forrest Gump and the Bollywood (a happy-chicken-soy-based patty as we were told 😊with a side of potato wedges and sweet potato fries. Oh it was love at first bite. The flavors!! And finally, we ended the meal with their chocolate dream cake (dreamy indeed!). While we were leaving, we had another opportunity to talk to the owner and she so passionately mentioned about veganism and how the burgers we just enjoyed were vegan too. Most of their offerings are vegan and I love this fact!!! We left, with a promise to come back and try their buffet menu soon.
For the prices offered, the variety of flavours and dishes were inadequate in the Buffet. They are priced similar to Tibits but dont offer the same variety and taste. Its not that good to justify the price of the food. The food itself isnt very creative in the buffet, it seems to be just slightly modified Asian and Middle eastern cuisine which dont taste as great as the original dish. If there is any hope, it may only be the burger menu. Ill update the review once Ive tried it. Its a surprise that this place got so many positive reviews. Maybe they were good at some point, its definitely not that good now.
Fantastic food and the loveliest staff, I’m so glad I found this place. It’s easy to cut down on meat when the alternative is this!
Delicious vegetarian comfort food 🥘Samses is a cozy restaurant with a good selection of prepared vegetarian dishes. Make your own plate and relax. My favorite restaurant in Zurich!
Touch screens are fantastic as they give you detailed info on the food selections (vegan, gluten free, etc.). It is a bit on the pricier side with less selection than Hiltl/Tibits but I actually prefer the taste of their cold salad options than at the other establishments. Highly recommend their selection of desserts. They have excellent coffee.
Lovely restaurant. We had the suggestion and it was amazing. Service was super friendly. They also have buffet but didnt try it yet.
A warm and cosy vegetarian place with lots of vegan food options to choose from. The hosts are amazing and make you feel welcome right from the start.
Food was good to try, but not enticing enough to go back. Service was absolutely brilliant until we got our food, then the waiters refused to come back to us - we were going to order dessert, but we decided not to as it was taking way too long. Wasnt horrible, if service was better itd deserve at least 4 stars.
Somehow I never really love the food here. Happy to have vegan options, but the taste is always a little underwhelming.
New nice modern vegetarian restaurant with a fair range of menu and buffet meals. Really friendly and pleasant staff which deserves 5+ note. Buffet was rather a bit boring, without any special taste, note 3.
very very good vegan and vegetarian food, super nice service. i go there frequently never was disappointed. prices are very ok for zurich.
Amazing food and super tasty! Had the buffet which was quite expensive but incredibly great quality and so tasty. Had vegan tiramisu for pudding which was the most delicious vegan dessert I have ever tasted!
Been there twice with 4 years time between, staff was always very friendly and meals consistently delicious. Leave some space for dessert because theyre GOOD.
Delicious food and the lady who served me was very nice. I filled my plate and it cost nearly 20chf but its Switzerland, Im on a flying visit and I have no idea if that is expensive or not. Anyway I wish we had places like this in London.
Many vegan desserts choices. Both the tiramisu and the cheese cake were fantastic. Also the lunch buffet looks great, we will be back to try.
Very good food, buffet or menu. And really nice staff. In one of the most iconic streets of Zürich. Reservations needed.
Its a great place for vegans and vagiterian. They have many items and all delicious. Very friendly Staff and they would make you feel welcomed. I would have given 5 star to them but I was slightly disappointed with desserts. ( It was not bad but my expectations were hight after eating the main course). We loved their home made ice tea. When they learnt, I like drink with lemon, they specifically made it for me. I will definitely visit here again with friends and family.
Great vegetarian restaurant at the top end of Langerhans see. Quality was great, price was good, and the atmosphere welcoming. Loved the daal, my friends loved the vegiburger and their tagliatelle.
The food is good and there are cool screens above the Buffet where you can click with touchscreen on the thing youre interested in to see detailed information about the ingredients. The staff is very nice. And we even got a very small soup thing as a starter for free!Prices are reasonable. Its cosy, with candles on the table.
Great vegetarian dishes, nice buffet to choose from (paid by weight), delicious (also for non-veggies).I had vegetables, pasta and some humus. It was really good. The service was very communicative and helpful. The woman was also very open for service improvement ideas.I will be back for sure.
Fantastic veggie/vegan buffet and specials on the menu. Youll be impressed. SamSeS takes taste seriously.
They always suprise me with what a range of taste vegetarian dishes can be served. The chocolate tard on the end should not be missed. I also love they are having self made ice teas.
Samses is perfect for people who like to eat vegan or vegetarian. They have a huge buffet where you can choose between different salads, main dishes (European, Asian, Oriantaland desserts. The costs normally vary between CHF18 - 25 depending on how heavy your food is.
Excellent service and friendly staff. We went for lunch and they only had a set menu to choose from 2 starters and 1 main. The salad and the supe where great and the main course was excellent. We werent expecting such a friendly and warm place in the area. Nice mix Italian - Swiss
Nice vegetarian buffet with dishes inspired by continental cuisine. The place was full even on a monday evening, so make rservations! They have a "Buffet monday" once a month when the buffet prices are slashed by 30%. A real steal! The staff were attentive and friendly, and did their best to bridge the language barrier while patiently explaining the contents of the buffet.
Faux meat is usually an endeavor in disappointment, so I avoid the concept when visiting a vegetarian establishment or cooking. That said, I decided to be adventurous and order one of the faux meat dishes: The cordon bleu. Thoroughly impressed. This is one of the only times in my life I have had a faux meat dish that is self-standingly great—even if I wasnt wanting a meat substitute.
Great vegetarian food. They offer a choice of a pay-by-weight buffet or an a la carte menu. It helps to have a reservation.
Another great vegetarian restaurant in Zurich. This menu is much more limited than Hiltl & has less of an Indian flair. The seating here is also much more limited so make reservations, because it is a small restaurant. The food quality is very good & there is a good selection of food nonetheless. There are some very creative items here. This is another definite restaurant to go to.
Samses is located in a silent but central district and it was not packed on a saturday evening at 9pm, which might actually be too late for dinner in Switzerland. When we arrived the half of the salad bar was already gone, so I advise going there earlier. But the waitresses were polite and offered us a sample of the soup of the day, which was tasty. Prices are within Zurich standards (50 CHF for two meals and drinks). Samses is a nice alternative to classical swiss cuisine based on heavy meat dishes.
The food and service were terrific. I choose the buffet option where I found many gluten free options. They even had a delicious chocolate cake. Vegan options as well. Ranks right up there with Tibits in Zurich.
