Sambel Hejo Natuna - Sundanese restaurant in Bandung, Indonesia
One of my familys favorite place to have a lunch when we visited Bandung. The place almost always full and crowded everyday especially on the weekend, you better come early at peak time. The place is not too clean but still okay, forgiveable with affordable price and good taste. Dont forget to order Sambal Merah the spicy one.I really like the street food in front of the restaurant, i spotted es durian, es campur, tahu gejrot, batagor, kue ape, tukang mangga.Price range : low to medium
New discovery: CIMPLUNGSimilar to perkedel (fried potato ball), but more chewy and in a ball shape. Great for snacking, but doesnt go well together with rice as side dish.Fried chicken is good but so small - one-eight part chicken
Old restaurant and minimal menu. Should be updated and renovation.
Good taste, limited parking space, reasonable price
so overpriced. the food portion is small, especially for the chicken. the sambal hejo is not spicy at all, in fact i can’t taste anything from it. and the taste of most food is meh. not recommended.
No comment regarding the taste, not bad, but not so great either. The price is overpriced for almost all the menu, especially the chicken is not worth the price. The size of the chicken is way too small for the price.
the taste of fried chicken is the most famous yummy in paris van java, I love it 😻
Good
Food is okay, but really if you are a bit eater, you might need to consider to order the soup or bakwan (if you order chicken)..
The right place to eat sundanese food. Even Erick Thohir have a dinner in this place
This is one of my favorite Sudanese Resto. Their specialty on fried chicken and their green sambal are none to compare. But, be prepare to wait in line for at least 30 minutes before you got the table available..
⭐⭐⭐ for the taste⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the price⭐⭐⭐ for the placeIn this kind of resto, the taste of their sambal is the most important. I prefer to have spicy sambal, where this places sambal is too sweet, but for you who prefer sweet sambal you might like it.
The food is extraordinary and it is so authentic, but you might need to wait for quite a long time on weekends and holidays
The food has been consistent throughout the years. The oily fried chicken, the green tomato heavy sambal, the potato chewy cake, ... somehow it tasted better when you dine in vs takeout or delivery 🤔
recomended sundaneese food in town
One of the favorite places to eat when you stop in Bandung. This restaurant is very famous among domestic tourists, but the price is not very touristy, aka still friendly on the pocket. From the beginning, the taste of the food has always been the same and has not changed over time. Every time I come here I dont have time to take pictures of the food, because once its served, its eaten with gusto. most like the "cimplung". I dont know what its made of, but its delicious. its like a potato.
Authenticity taste still on the place, all the food are freshly made with affordable price, very recommended for those who seeking good quality food!
They offer the ultimate sundanese cuisine experience! One of the best sundanese restaurant in bandung with a very affordable price point. They usually busy at lunch time especially on the weekends, but it is worth the wait.To get the most of Sambel Hejo experience, try to order cimplung (potato balland eat it with sambal and warm rice🤤🤤🤤Eventhough the place usually jam packed with people from another city, local people still lining up to get their table here. A solid proof that this restaurant is one of a kind! 😁
A traditional Sundanese food with famous sambal hejo & cimplung made by potatoes, its suitable for lunch & dinner as well
MY FAMILY FAVOURITE SUNDANEESE FOOD
The one Sundanese restaurant which the local Sundanese came to visit. It is my favorite. Different than other Sundanese restaurant, here they serve the entire lot of dishes to your table. Only a number or dishes are served by order. I have to say the chicken are quite small by size, but they are sure tasty.
A wonderful place to spend the weekend with your family. The Foods are delightful and affordable. The services are quick and they are really concern about health protocol as well. Definitely will be back very soon to this place.
The taste of chicken and sambal is so-so, price is cheap, one of favourite spot for tourist, crowded sometimes. Located in a nice shady area, easy to see and recognize, lot of parking space. Few street food available in front of restaurant..service is friendly and waiting time for food is fast.
Sundanese style chicken. Very very delicious, even my Japanese friends really love it.
I experienced the restaurant addresed in Jalan Katamso. The food are nice, sambal hejo and sambal terasi are so tasty. The fried chicken are tender and savory. The cilung is also good. I seldom eat dinner here. So, sundanese food...
Good and unique "sambal hejo". Special Green chili paste. The food was ok and the surrounding was crowded. So better come here, after lunch time. The service was fast, and the price was ok.
All the food super tasty and cheap. My moms approved the taste as sundanese 😁
Great sundanese food with cheap price, they will serve the food directly to your table. Must try the potato balls and their red sambal. Pro tip: come early around 11 to avoid the crowd
Nice Sundanesse restaurant. Its quite unique even for a Sundanesse restaurant. Their menu speciality is Cimong which is a potato fried ball, but the taste is quite different from Indonesian fried smash potato (also known as Perkedel in local language), the portion is not large but you can still quite full. The fried chicken is also quite tasty and also the other traditional food such as Pecel tahu.
Traditional Sundanese restaurants, serve unique taste green chili paste with their main dish. Very busy during lunch time, limited parking place. Moderate price
Well.. The places core name is "sambel", so their sambal is one of the best in Bandung. For the meal itself, it is quite in the standard level, tasty but not that good.
Went there before lunch time. Less crowded. Look for their specialty, Cimplung. And a portion of mango from the fruit guy outside.
The queues will go crazy if you go here on lunch time. Your tummy will be satisfied with the rich choice of traditional sundanese cuisines. Definitely worth to try.
The first authentic sambal hejo located at the very heart of natuna road. It’s just so good. Can’t tell more! Try it yourself!
Gotta give em 4 stars just because I am not a fan of green chili. However their chicken is to die for!!!!!! Sooooooooooooooo good. And also I love that potato balls! It’s crispy but like mochi inside but its savory. Awesome.
Cheap and tasty food, very recommended, spacious eating area, quite clean, parking limited but not difficult, good place, will come again for sure, the cimplung was very nice, the chicken was juicy and tender
The most favourite menu are ayam kuning and cimplung.. there are 2 type of sambals..sambal hejo and sambal dadak..
Great food especially its famous Cimplung (fried semi mashed potato). I also like the red sambal.Crowded during peak hour, not a comfortable place to hang out but to dine in only. The price is reasonable.
special in sundanese food. not much choices other than that. taste very okay
Big place but still queue when lunch time. The chickens were small. Delicious cimplung. Great taste of green chilli (sambel hejo)
Decided to eat here by impulse since it is lunch time. The resto is very hectic, all staffs were busy. You wont get a warm welcome, need to find an empty table by yourself. By the time a table is left by previous customer you must sit even though the table was still so dirty with left over. They serve the food Padang style, so the leftover will eventually will be served to another customer. I highly doubt the hygienity and cleanliness of the food judging from the chaos of the resto. We eat only for 2 person and must pay around 185 k IDR. A rip off considering the total dining experience and the food taste.
Tourist trap. They served all food without mentioning the price. We end up eating 2 portion/plate of chicken. 1 Plate consists of tiny pieces of chicken that end up cost 66 k IDR (1 pcs is 11k). The taste is decent. However all other minus make me have to rate this resto 1 star :- Overprice chicken- The resto is hectic, you need to wait for empty table without proper queuing/waiting list mechanism- Dirty tables during peak dinner time- Staffs are always busy your request often neglected- The green sambal is not spicy at all (why bother make it as the resto name. Sambal Hejo = Green Sambal).- Dirty toiletWont comeback again before improvement are made. thanks
Nice place, great taste.. recommended traditional fried chicken & hot sauce.
Best sundanese fried chicken. Soft and tasty. Great tempe and tahu. The lalap is also fresh. And the sambal is great, better with kecap bang*. The kue ape in front of the restaurant is also great, es duren too. Love this
A very well known sundanese restaurants, if you are a sundanese food lover this place cant go wrong. The fried chicken is very tasty and tender even thought with a minimal seasoning, the tempe & tahu are very crunchy but not too punchy and many more menus.. but the star here is the cimplung, a must try potato cake, the taste is very nice with a crunchy texture outside and a sticky inside (not in a gross way)
Cimplung here is the best. I can eat 6 Cimplung for one time eating :D
Superb place to dine, bu very crowded. Delicious food, price is affordable to high and service is fast. One of must visit restaurants in Bandung.
My personal green chili fave! The place is adequate, the menu has many variation from chicken, tofu, pepes, dried salted fish, tempe, veggies. Price is very affordable and the taste is outstanding. Dont forget to mix your green chili with red chili for extra strong spiciness.
The food is great, its sundanese cuisine. The sambal is so fresh and a must-try. But its not kid friendly because they dont separate smoking and non-smoking area
Food is ok because it served and ready in few minute, but in rush hour fully booked and dificult to find parking, better to get there before lunch time, price is fair
