Amazing to see the carnival here, very overwhelming as this has been on my bucket list for ages. The creativity that goes into the costumes and floats was truly fascinating.

I went to Carnival opening night. I bought the cheapest tickets because I didnt know what to expect. For some reason, they couldnt serve beer. The concrete seating is about what I would expect (uncomfortable), but the view was great!

Very well organized. I did not realize that carnival was a group of parades organized by different groups. Each group is timed and judged on their performance, costumes, floats and timing. Generally each parade is 1 hour long with and intermission and fireworks to signify the start of the next parade group. Each group co consists of thousands of performers, dancers and a dozen or more floats. I attended the final night that started at 9pm and lasted until 7am the next morning. It was an awesome spectacle of dance and showmanship. Tickets where $25 for cheap unassigned seats ( concrete benches), $60 for assigned seats (concrete benches), $300 for box seats ( real chairs), $500 to $1,500 for VIP boxes with full buffet and open bars.

The Sambadrome is a unique construction. I have never seen something similar, a lot for space, a lot of facilities. We went there to see the Carnival in Rio 2022. Amazing! Worth visiting. The only thing that I would point out as nehative was that the Sambadrome is located in a bit "dangerous" area of the city which made us a bit nervous to walk there or waiting for an Uber on the street, or holding our phones out. In total worth visiting during the Carnival.

For many years, Ive observed snippets or glimpses into the colorful and cultural carnival parade in Rio. The covid pandemic put the event on hold for just over two years, and there was a genuine fear that the parade would be canceled this year as well. Fortunately, it was merely postponed. The event ignited into an explosion of color, music, dance, and costume splendor this week. And I was fortunate to attend! Six Samba schools were judged on this night. Whatever school you supported, I think that everyone would agree that the performance was a spectacular success on every level. The costumes were very theme-oriented, emphasizing cultural issues and political events. The seventy minutes it took to enter the Samba-drome until the school passed out of review reverberated with cheering and singing from the hundreds of attendees. This music vibrated through the entire area. Security was very present to ensure there were no issues, and it was a memorable night! If you can be in Rio during the next carnival parade, make it your business to attend!

Amazing holi experience, totally worth it! Special groups carnival parades are highly recommended. We were in section 11 and it was great, just in front of the jury so we could enjoy the special performances. The biggest and best carnival in the world. And they go all out! The costumes and the floats were made with such experience and passion. Very colourful with great music vibe, this is a MUST for anyone visiting Brasil or a world traveller. And the people of Rio come all out to party and are such great hosts. Its a contagious heady feeling you must experience.

Simply wonderful. Its a unique event on this planet.Ive been there twice so far, both in the (extremely expensivecabins (camarote). If there will be a third time I want to try the grandstand, far less expensive and crowded, and maybe even with a better view...

The absolute main highlight of my tour in Rio. A true visual and audio spectacle. Whenever I envisioned Brazil and the carnival I imagined thousands of people doing the samba with colorful outfits on massive themed floats and it was exactly that and more! We stayed here for 6 hours. Each school performs on the Sambadrome runway for 1 hour. We were seated in Section 5 with a really great view. If u can, go down to the railing so youre a bit closer to the action.I have never seen so many people in one location before in my entire life. The stadiums energy is electrifying! Our tour guide also said that they can prepare up to an entire year for this event and it definitely shows. There is so much creativity in the whole experience, its truly mind blowing. An absolute must see if youre in Brazil during carnival season, it cant be missed!

Hit Carnaval 2020 on both sides : watching the desfile Sunday night, and participating in the desfile on Monday night, it was an absolute blast both nights. We took numbered seats in zone 12, which is right up next to the piste, at the end of the lane. I was worried that we would not have a good view as we were not up in the bleachers, but the seats were fantastic. The sheer energy experienced in the Sambódromo during Carnaval is not to be missed!

Once a year, the Sambadrom is the epicenter for thousands of carnival enthusiasts. For several days, Samba schools orchestrate through the filled stadium and delight up to 70,000 visitors. The many colors, the hues and the singing not only bring the participants of the schools into ecstasy, the audience in the stands also becomes part of the spectacle.

The facilities arent bad and the food is what youd expect from something like this, mostly burgers and pizzas. I got tickets for both the grandstands and floor level. The view from either is quite different, the grandstands give a great overall view of the parade but the floor level truly lets you appreciate the costumes and people. Dont expect to be sitting down much as everyone stands during the performances. Parades go for atleast 50 minutes each and theres six a night. I left at 2am and the performances were only half over. Private boxes are probably the best of both worlds and far more comfy. Pricey though.

I heard once the the Carnaval at Rio De Janeiro were the best in the world and I said that I have to see them to believe it. So I finally decided to go to Rio and see them for myself. They are not just amazing, they are spectacular, colorful, brings you joy, the people are beautiful (some of them super hot ;-You really get to feel and enjoy it no matter where you are sitting. We only stayed in Rio for a night and did not sleep at all but it was well worth it. We would love to come back on Carnaval and have a great time.

That was my dream holiday ...but ...my god .....I ve been paid £250 for 2 tickets for the Sambódromo 6 moths ago ... that when i went there I realised that the same tickets worth 44 Brazilian real £9 each .tch 😤🤯 and they are available even at 7 pm the same day . Nobody speaking English ...high criminality zone .A very good guy from the organisation of the Sambódromo adviced me to hide my ticket because there is possibly someone stole my ticket and getting heart .The parade was awesome bit to long about 12 hours because you have to wait to long for the groups to take seats .The Sambódromo IS cement and the temperature is about 45Celcilious at night .When the parade was finished 6 am (from 7 pm the previous dayThe police close the only way to get out of the teretory of the Sambódromo and thousands of people have to squiz from a narrow part of the road that look like favela .At 6 .30 am you cant find Uber not even taxi (that is very expensiveYou have to wait hours to go home .The only awaysome was the Carnival Parade unique but not worth all this hussle .

A visual feast, of course its a must do and one I can tick of the bucket list. But here are a few things I wish I knew before I came. You can take 2x 500ml bottles in with you and 2 items of food each. You buy tokens first and then wait in the queue to collect your drink (with your tokenso dont be fooled by a shorter line. The tourists section, number 9, is exactly that, but there arent any attendants that could speak english (well one that I got directed to down the way a bit because they didnt understand what I meant by toilet).Taxi rank is nearby, again speak to the people attending the line and they will give you a ticket with the area of Rio you want to go to and the price, you hand this to the taxi man and tell him where you want to go.For comfort take something soft to sit on and prepare to have a wet bum if it has rained at all recently as water pools on the seats. You can buy drinks (cansand ice cream from men but it is relatively expensive for Rio.Toilets at the bottom of section 9 seemed to be not for section 9, they were down the numbered seating a little and were full of spiders, pretty dirty and take some toilet paper. Because there had been rain, there were boards to get in so not great if you have any mobility issues. These are just practical points, I had an amazing time and got completely sucked into the whirl wind atmosphere. Dancing, costumes and music leaves nothing to be desired. We had seats R 54 in section 9, we were sat in the middle, close to the back, we still had a great view, and nothing to stop you heading down to the front if you wanted to, despite allocated seating.A must see.

Samba and good time. Amazing choreography, music, costumes and show. I attended on 2018 and 2016, both times on Sunday for Grupos Especial. Planning to go again in the future. A show that must be experienced live. Tickets could be bought also on the street but be carefull. Leaving the area by car (uber or taxicould be difficult since most of the streets are closed for the event. Walking the area to find a open street could be un-safe, despite many police agents watching the surroundings.

Gigantic purpose-built venue for the crowning jewel of Rios Carnaval season, the Sambadrome offers great views of both the event itself as well as the surrounding natural beauty. 2 hours before the parades are due to start, all the food stands and bars open for business, and remain open for the majority of the night. A word of warning: the general seating areas are aUnmarked and bNot cushioned. Arrive early to bag a good seat and bring something soft to sit on. Street vendors outside the venue can be found selling items that will make sitting on bare breeze-block a little easier.

Amazing performance was completely ruined by disorganization. There is no direction to the vip area. Nobody speaks English. There is no seats at the VIP area for $1500/pc. VIP area is so crowded that you staying like sardines in the can. To adding the insult we were forced to wear Colgate tshirts. Watch it on TV if you Do NOT want to be treated like s.h.i.t at the venue.P.S. No food/snacks.Cheapest alcohol.
